On October 21, 1978 Frederick Valentich, an Australian pilot with over 150 hours of experience in the air headed out on a routine flight from Melbourne to King Island. It was a route he’d taken loads of times. But about an hour into his flight, he radioed flight service about a mysterious craft following him. Throughout the conversation, he became increasingly frightened and then the transmission was disrupted by a strange metallic sound. Despite weeks of searching, Fred and his plane were never seen again.
