Arriving back on the air Kimbo Camper, John

0:07

com. It must be the Audible, John, That's only

0:09

it is. Hey, let me remind you of the Audible

0:11

is presented by Automation, America's

0:13

largest and most recognized automotive

0:16

retailer, save on one hundred thousand

0:18

0:20

dot com. And let me remind you can watch the Audible

0:22

and listen to the Audible uh every

0:24

Saturday night at seven thirty pm

0:26

on w F four CBS four Miami.

0:29

You can catch it on all the streaming platforms

0:31

and Miami Dolphins dot com. And John,

0:33

we're right in a situation when minicamps are

0:36

are are going on around the National Football

0:38

League o t s are kind of coming to a

0:40

close, and you've got mandatory mini camps, the Dolphins

0:43

involved with one themselves, and it gives

0:45

you a chance to look at some of the players. And I

0:47

think one of the things John, that we really haven't

0:49

touched on is talking about the defense a

0:52

little bit and the additions to that defense.

0:54

What's it gonna mean? But most

0:57

important, John probably is probably the defensive

0:59

front and continue to put pressure

1:01

on the defen on the offensive football teams

1:04

that you're gonna face in this this this new seventeen

1:07

week schedule. But it seems like it's

1:09

an attacking style of defense and it's

1:11

a very fast defense. And I think that's where

1:13

the Dolphins changed from two years

1:15

ago to where they are right now. You mentioned

1:18

Josh Bowyer, You mentioned all the things

1:20

he brings to the table as a defensive coordinator,

1:22

all the different sets defensively,

1:25

guys standing up in a two point stance along

1:27

the line of scrimmage. This is a football team

1:29

that has a lot of options on the defensive

1:31

side of the football. The way Emmanuel Ogba

1:34

came on and double digit sacks, and that

1:36

the turnovers, and Andrew Van Ginkle,

1:38

the way he was pressuring the quarterback and getting

1:40

his hands on the football. It all helped

1:42

that secondary, with less time to cover,

1:45

being able to be more opportunistic, having

1:48

X get ten interceptions. This is a defense

1:51

that ranks six in points in the National Football

1:53

League, just over twenty one points to game. If

1:55

you can keep them to under three touchdowns,

1:58

the Miami Dolphins have a chance to win in every

2:00

game. Yeah, And I think one of the guys I look at, I look

2:02

at Christian Wilkins. You know here he was. I mean,

2:05

as soon as you got drafted out of Clemson, comes

2:08

up and you know, in in chess bumps

2:10

to the commissioner, and from then on you kind of saw

2:12

the personality of Christian Wilkins. And we've

2:14

seen it on the football field. He's a he's a

2:17

you know, he's an animated guy. He likes to keep

2:19

things going, keeps the juice flowing. But

2:21

he's coming up, he's becoming a leader on

2:23

that on that defensive football team, and I

2:26

think it's I think it's it's incumbent

2:28

on him making another step

2:30

forward this year, both as both

2:32

from a productivity standpoint. What's

2:34

that leadership standpoint? Being a guy that, hey,

2:37

look, I played on national champion teams. I've

2:39

played at the highest level. Let's get to that level

2:41

here with our football team. And we got

2:43

to We're able to catch up with Christian a little

2:45

bit and and listen to him talk about some

2:47

of the things that he's expecting out of himself

2:49

moving forward. For me, it's just it

2:52

starts with just the work. You know, I gotta put in the work in the

2:54

film room, in the weight room, on the field. Um,

2:56

and then you know, hopefully guys will follow that. Um.

2:58

It doesn't always have to be a vocal rod guy or anything

3:01

like that, but really just you know, um, you

3:03

know, serving my teammates is a big thing for me. Whatever

3:05

anyone needs, rookies, all the guys, younger guys that

3:07

need someone that can tell anything. Um, you know,

3:10

that's that's what I propped myself on. So definitely just the

3:12

work, leading by example, uh, and then always

3:14

leaves being myself, bringing that energy, bringing that juice

3:16

every day because I really do love this game.

3:19

Um, you know, as much as it is work, it's it's a it's

3:21

a game and it's a lot of fun. So bringing

3:23

that energy, bringing that juice, and just being myself. Alright.

3:25

So Christians certainly got those thoughts in his mind,

3:27

and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.

3:29

But he's got to kind of get in there and corral this uh

3:32

this these these this defensive front. And he's

3:34

been showing his improvement. And if you got

3:37

a guys, you want to provement getting better, you want to kind

3:39

of get on that train. You want to you want to kind of follow his path.

3:41

And I think he's got the ability

3:43

to lead that way, lead by example,

3:46

and I think he's a perfect example of

3:48

that because he's done nothing but get

3:50

better at rushing the passer, stopping

3:52

the run, at playing his position with

3:54

discipline, getting guys excited

3:57

on that side of the football, and not only on that side.

4:00

His plays energized the entire football

4:02

team. So when you've got a guy that is a

4:04

complete package a defensive tackle that

4:06

you have flexibility with position rotation,

4:09

uh, there's a lot of good that can come out

4:11

of that, and that gets contagious along that defensive

4:13

front. All right, John, we're talking about rotations and everything

4:16

and all those types of things, trying to talk to you how I felt

4:18

about him. One of the guys is gonna be involved now. We

4:20

talked about them early, Zack Steeler. He's gonna

4:22

be a guy that's gonna be an important,

4:25

important, important cog in that thing, and he's

4:27

gonna have to get his game lifted up

4:29

a little bit. Let's hear what he has to say about his season

4:31

going forward and the way that they're gonna use his

4:33

defensive front. Yeah, we got a lot of great guys,

4:36

and we brought in some really good talent between

4:38

free agents and rookies. Um, it's

4:40

just exciting how we all it's early,

4:43

we're all rotating, we're all doing Uh. It's

4:45

uh excited to see where the team can grow

4:48

to. Um. The coaches are doing a great job of

4:50

honing in on some things that we want to improve

4:52

on from last year and uh

4:55

getting each other better. Nothing beats competition.

4:57

Know. It's funny because I was just talking to actually talking

4:59

to now War the other day. We're talking about

5:01

rotation, and I was going back to, you know,

5:04

you have different players now, you know Wilkins,

5:06

you know ray Kwon Davis. They

5:09

can pass rush, they can give you some pressure. They can

5:11

do this, but also can give you a pass rushing

5:13

and can can step out to a defensive end position

5:16

and play a two technique or three technique

5:18

whatever they need to do out there, so that the

5:21

skill level is different, which really allows

5:23

them to really, in my mind, make

5:26

a rotation be very very successful

5:29

with this particular group of players, hoping

5:31

that they all stay healthy throughout the course of seventeen

5:33

games. What's a compliment to to

5:36

what the roster looks like, because I don't

5:38

think you could do that two years ago on a Brian

5:40

Flores football team. Now, in just

5:42

two short years, you've got multiple

5:45

players that you have confidence in in any situation.

5:48

So whether it's Zach Seeler or Ray Kawon Davis,

5:50

or Christian Wilkins or John

5:52

Jenkins or or Adam Butler who the

5:54

Dolphins were able to acquire in free agency,

5:57

you've got guys on the interior that if

5:59

they're asked to play when he plays or Forty plays,

6:01

you feel like, no matter who's in there, they're gonna give

6:03

you a great effort number one, but they're

6:06

gonna be also productive and compliment

6:08

the edge guys and compliment the coverage. Well, hey,

6:10

stick around you guys, we're gonna have a treat

6:12

for you coming up. O. J McDuffie, one of my favorite players

6:15

that ever wore a Dolphin uniform is gonna join us and we'll

6:17

talk to him a little bit about what he expects of

6:19

the upcoming season. The time now for our sit

6:21

down and who other to have then?

6:23

O J McDuffie and he sit down and sit

6:25

is amplified by hard Rock Hotel

6:28

and in Juice, long time Dolphin

6:30

and and a long time Dolphin fan after

6:33

and I know I know each and every day, Like like

6:35

most of us, you kind of you kind of not.

6:38

I'm not gonna say you live and die, but you certainly wake

6:40

up and try to see what's new and see what's going on.

6:42

What do you think about the team right now where

6:44

we're sitting. I think my wife might

6:47

disagree whether I live or

6:49

die about it, you know what I mean. Every

6:51

day it's like dolphin Day, and our

6:53

household goes as a dolphins go, you

6:56

know what I mean. So as you as you've alluded

6:58

to, it's going pretty well right now, man,

7:01

I think the optimism, Um, what we're

7:03

thinking about that happened with this new with this team is

7:06

uh, it's looking pretty really good, man. So

7:09

we're excited. I'm excited, man. You

7:11

know, I saw you guys on draft day, man, and I

7:13

can see that the enthusiasm was amongst

7:16

a lot of dolphins, which one I

7:18

am one now of course. Um, So

7:21

I'm excited, man. I just can't wait to get it all started

7:23

and see where we really are. Man. Everything looks

7:25

good on paper, but you know, both you guys

7:28

know, man, when you know when it gets down

7:30

to you know, the live accident in

7:32

between the between the lines, that's when

7:34

it really matters, you know, just when you

7:36

talk about the draft, you went through the draft, the Dolphins,

7:39

when you look at what they've done, I think they I think

7:41

they certainly improved their their team. I

7:43

think the day on Monday after

7:45

the draft, they were a better football team than they were Friday

7:48

or Thursday before the draft started.

7:51

And I think that votes well. But when you look

7:53

at this team with this new this new

7:55

proper players, you get some explosive

7:57

players and we're in the at the receiver position.

8:00

You continue to get the growth at the tight end position

8:02

with Derham Smith and Mike Gasecki. Um

8:05

I would like to see in the running game addressed

8:08

a little more, but they did in some way by

8:10

going back, going with the offensive alignment from Notre Dame

8:12

and helping that that group up front. But overall,

8:15

after the draft, were you happy with

8:17

the pixe and Dolf has made and and and the opportunities

8:20

for some of those guys to really make an

8:22

impact early and it needed? Yeah?

8:25

You know what, man is It's so funny because you

8:27

know everybody wanted certain players

8:30

in the draft, and we both you all know different

8:32

guys, and you know you saw different reactions.

8:34

You know when certain players were drafted, but

8:37

for me, you know, I think they dressed

8:39

a couple of really big needs, you know why receiver

8:42

and speed for one. Um, when we

8:44

got Jayla Wattle. You know, Wattle is

8:46

my favorite receiver going into the season before he

8:48

got hurt. You know, if it weren't

8:50

for Jayla Wattle, we might name know of Javonte

8:52

Smith, we would, but he wouldn't be the same guy,

8:55

you know, especially when Jamar Chase it

8:57

opted out. I thought Jayla Waddle was

8:59

the best receiver in the you know, in the in the

9:01

in college football at that point, so getting him was

9:03

outstanding. Of course, we know we had to address

9:05

the issue with the rush in so getting Phillips in

9:07

that position with one thing. But when it comes

9:09

to running backs, you know, but I you

9:12

know, I argue all the time, you know, on social

9:14

media and whatever might be with with

9:17

any and everybody about when it comes to the running

9:19

back position, and it's a different position. Now. We

9:21

all know it's nice to have a feature

9:23

back, and it really is. You know, some

9:26

of the great teams, you know, the Tennessee's

9:28

have a guy that does it all, you know, But

9:31

for the most part, it's always been my committee.

9:33

It's been committee so much lately that you

9:35

know, if you can get a couple of guys behind a great

9:38

line, like just talking about, you know, picking

9:40

up Liam Notre Dame, and you

9:42

know, see how these these these first year

9:44

guys last year come around their second year this year,

9:46

and that's really what matters. If we can get we

9:50

can get an offensive line that solid. Hell,

9:52

you and Congemma can run behind. Hey,

9:55

don't get carried away, juice. We're not going very

9:57

far. Just getting out of

9:59

the bathroom started

10:02

on that, you know, O J. You're

10:04

right, you touch upon the running back spot and Tennessee

10:07

is one of them. It's more of a luxury to have

10:09

a guy like Henry to be able

10:11

to count on and do that. But when you take a look

10:14

at the Miami Dolphins and the way

10:16

they've assembled this football team, it

10:18

was fairly easy to go from five wins

10:20

to ten wins because of the coaching staff and all

10:22

the discipline they they have installed

10:25

in this football team. But now it's tough to go from

10:27

from ten to eleven to twelve.

10:30

Where do you think this team needs to improve the most

10:32

to maybe get to that next level? Yeah,

10:35

that's a great point, you know. I mean, obviously, you

10:37

know we're not gonna sneak up on anybody anymore. I think

10:39

everybody feels with the Dolphin teams, the team that's

10:41

up and coming and they're gonna be uh ready

10:43

to play. AFC's has gotten you know, when

10:45

you think when you lose Tom Brady in the division, it

10:48

gets easier. And then you gotta run into Buffalo

10:50

Building and Josh Allen, you know, and those guys you're

10:52

you're tough up there. So I tell

10:55

you, man, you get over the edge. It starts

10:57

on the offensive side. I think our defense is is

10:59

jelling a point where they're gonna be successful

11:01

for us. I think offensively after turn

11:04

we've got to figure out a way obviously

11:06

to score more points long drives.

11:09

Points at the end of drives. Uh, you gotta

11:11

go run the ball. And it all starts up front, exact

11:13

cliche, but it really all starts in the trenches.

11:16

And I think that's one of the things that we really focus

11:18

on the off season, and of course last year's

11:20

draft, getting some young line and some mallers,

11:23

guys that can move people a little bit, open up

11:25

some holes and stay ahead of the chains.

11:28

You know, we don't need to be you

11:30

know, we don't need two of to throw for four hundred

11:32

yards a game. We need to be you

11:35

know, to seventy five, just under

11:37

three hundred and efficient, build to run the ball,

11:39

control the ball. But it's all starts up

11:41

front. So because the offensive side of the ball can

11:44

get us four points a

11:46

game, I'll take that all

11:48

day, you know what I mean. Of course, after that, you know

11:50

we get some thirties and thirty fives, I'll take those as

11:52

well. But it starts on the offensive side, and

11:54

that's two a Gooes is how it will go this year.

11:57

You mentioned some of those wide

11:59

receivers. You talked a little bit about Jalen

12:01

Waddle and how much you like him coming out of Alabama.

12:04

You add William Fuller to the mix. You hope

12:06

Parker and Williams can stay healthy

12:09

and be healthy. You've got Albert Wilson

12:11

coming back and Alan Herns. There's gonna be quite

12:13

a competition, Juice. Uh, not only

12:15

for playing time to make this roster number

12:18

one, but it has the potential

12:20

to create more explosive plays. And that's I

12:22

think with this offense needs man,

12:24

we got faster, didn't we we got lots after

12:27

real fast man, and that's that's important.

12:29

You know. I think Tour likes to get the ball out the guys

12:31

right away. You've got guys that can, you

12:34

know, get the ball right away and meet guys miss. That's

12:36

huge John. You know, as a quarterback, you know, give

12:39

a guy a now route and then you go eighties and

12:41

then let's crate in the stat line, right. That's yeah,

12:45

It's it's a great thing to have, man. And if

12:47

we get Albert Wilson back the

12:49

way we had Albert Wilson a few years ago,

12:52

I mean, that's just such a bonus for us with all

12:54

those other guys. Have him out inside,

12:56

some of those guys that we have us and I get Preston Williams

12:59

back playing and well um varante

13:01

of course to talk about fuller and of course, I

13:04

mean that's so much speed out there, man.

13:07

It's it's fun to watch. And when you have speed

13:09

like that, it kind of opens up the run

13:11

game hopefully for it, you know, make guys

13:13

back up a little bit, had to play coverage

13:16

sometimes and hopefully can open up the run

13:18

game. But and then it's gonna be a situation

13:20

where we're gonna cut a guy that

13:23

was gonna be immediate impact on another team.

13:25

In my thin yeah, you should talk

13:27

about the offensive line. You need to look no further than

13:29

Kansas City. What happened with them in the Super Bowl. They

13:31

have too offensive linemen out and

13:34

they have backups playing, and and look what happened

13:36

to them. You know they you know it

13:38

just the football team. So when

13:40

you when you talk about the offensive line and say, you

13:42

know, people go, oh, that's not important.

13:45

Well look back at Kansas City and they'll

13:47

tell you how important it was. Let's talk a little bit about

13:49

the wide receiver position, no choice, and and

13:51

and and overall, certainly with the Miami offense,

13:53

but around the National Football League that when you were

13:55

playing, certainly when I was playing, you know,

13:58

first down of the game, it was a base for me ation,

14:00

right, you know, when you're gonna run a trap, or

14:02

you're gonna run up, you're gonna run that sweep

14:05

or or you know, do a power player or something.

14:07

Well now you know now, and now you

14:09

know you look at the you look at the starting lineup,

14:12

and then all of a sudden you look out in the field and there's four

14:14

wide receivers, five wide receivers, empty

14:16

backfield, all those things on first down.

14:19

The game has changed from a wide receiver standpoint,

14:21

and you haven't played that at the highest level.

14:24

What do you think about the position and

14:26

the way it's played right now, and and and

14:28

how tough it is really to to defend

14:31

receivers in the game, speaking

14:33

as a defensive player, because the defensive

14:36

players seem to be have

14:39

a lot taken away from First

14:42

of all, let me start about talking about how jealous I

14:44

am these guys. You know what I mean. I mean,

14:47

we would never would like to put Danny and

14:49

shotgun all the time, you know, But you're

14:51

right though, first and second down, there's a good chance

14:53

you're gonna get a run on first, Austin on second

14:57

unless what you know, we talked Danny in the checking out of

14:59

it, you know what I mean. It give us a a little past plays in those

15:01

situations, but a lot of base,

15:03

you know what I mean. To our receivers, tight end, fullback,

15:06

running tailback, you know no more

15:08

of that. You know, even even the tight ends

15:10

are kind of wide receivers these days, man, which

15:12

a lot of fun to even go out there and watch. So I

15:15

mean, as a defense boat,

15:17

if you don't have at least three

15:20

good cover guys, you're in trouble

15:22

in this league. You don't have a guy that

15:24

can go inside, you know, and guard

15:26

that slot receiver who's making fifteen million

15:29

dollars a year. I hate that part about it too, because

15:31

I love playing the slot. Um, you're

15:33

in trouble now. If you don't have a guy that can

15:35

guard it the sicky uh you know, or

15:38

the tight ends that are in this league right now, you're

15:40

in trouble now, Man. So it's so much

15:42

more fun to go out there and watch that. And

15:45

and with that being said, as a team, you

15:47

have to have those type of players in those positions,

15:49

and you have to have those type of players on the defensive

15:51

side of the ball, you know, So you gotta have

15:54

the corners that we have. Being able

15:56

to go out there and cover especially inside inside

15:59

was so nice, John Man, being able

16:01

to eat inside with so much fun because I

16:03

had a lot of options outside. You

16:05

gotta come back, You gotta come back. It might

16:07

turn into a faith route, that's about it, you know what I

16:09

mean. Curl route to curl route,

16:12

no matter what, it might pat to turn into

16:14

a faith route inside. I can go up, down,

16:16

cross, in and out. I can do all kinds

16:18

of different things. And you don't have the guys that can

16:21

cover that. It's tough to deal with

16:23

man. So defense is now have to have

16:25

the great cover guys, and a lot of guys

16:27

have some dynamic guys in the slot. It's

16:29

a lot of fun to watch, especially if she caught ends

16:31

that can run inside. You know, we got some guys

16:33

that can do that too. But for me, you

16:36

know, if I was inside right now, bo, I

16:38

probably have about two thousand yards will see

16:40

you easy, Juice, easy,

16:43

you would dominate. They wouldn't be able to touch you. Number

16:45

one, hands off, there's

16:48

no fear going down the middle on that on that

16:50

skinny poster of the scene route. Yeah. How

16:52

many of these guys have to see Ronny Lot, you know

16:54

in their lives. You know what I mean? With balls throwing

16:56

a little bit high? You know that was Yeah,

16:59

that was a little different, Juice.

17:01

I want to ask you a little bit about the schedule,

17:03

the way it's changed up. With only three

17:06

preseason games, now you're adding a seventeenth

17:08

game in the National Football League. Do you

17:11

do you like it? Number one and do you think

17:13

that the league is not gonna stop there? Do you think it's gonna

17:15

go to eighteen and two eventually? Because my gut

17:17

tells me yes. Well, as

17:19

a fan, I love him, you know what I mean. As

17:21

a player, I probably wouldn't like it as much. You

17:24

know, it depends on how they're gonna top up the money

17:26

for him, you know, because it's really they're taking more risks.

17:28

We know how it is. Preseason games, you know,

17:31

you know, you know, guys like you and Bow

17:33

you only played maybe a series most of the time

17:35

preseason. Some probably voted to play it all

17:37

the times. I remember, you know, he was that

17:40

superstar at superstar status. You don't even

17:42

get any snaps at that point. You know,

17:44

he just wait for the regular season to start. You know, he's playing

17:47

even as a rookie. I think bo was playing against all

17:49

these you know, professional players. It's an all star.

17:51

You know, he had he had a pretty easy when he got down

17:53

here, you know, Conjimmy, you know,

17:55

I think as a freshman at St. Thomas, I used

17:57

to go get both food in the preseason. Bring it on

18:00

the sidelines. Yeah,

18:03

that's that's what

18:05

you got. What you do big times. You know, let

18:08

me tell you this. You know now you now you threw me

18:10

under the bus. Here first,

18:12

my first day of training camp, I came out of the College

18:14

All Star game, miss miss the

18:17

first two weeks of training camp. Run

18:19

onto the field. I'll never played

18:21

linebacker in my life. They dropped me a linebacker.

18:23

Bill Aarrens Barker says, you ready, I go, Yeah, We'll

18:25

go in there. I go. Coach, what do I do? He

18:28

says? If past shows, drop into a short zone.

18:31

If run, If run shows, then play the run.

18:33

So I dropped it out there. I line up

18:35

and I look at I look and there's Jim Langer, a Hall

18:37

of famer, at center. There's Bob Kuchenberg

18:39

guard, and there's Larry Little, another hall

18:42

of Famer, at the other guard and

18:44

buying. Bob Grease is at quarterback. Mercury Morris

18:46

is in the backfield. And all of a sudden,

18:49

they drop. I dropped into a zone. They

18:51

throw a little, and all of a sudden, I see Mercury creeping

18:53

out of the backfield. I see Greasy throwing

18:56

the ball, and all of a sudden, I see Coach Langer

18:58

and Larry Little. Next

19:01

thing, I know who hits me right into

19:03

the chin with my helmet with his helmet. Next

19:05

thing it hits is the back of my head on the ground,

19:08

and I'm woozy. And the next thing I say,

19:10

open my eyes and there's Bill Arnsbarger over my

19:13

face about that far from me going, son, in

19:15

this league, you better keep your head on the

19:17

swivel. And the lesson learned

19:20

from the first play, and I never forgot

19:22

it. So you're

19:25

always in danger of getting getting

19:27

getting a helmet with the chin. Right, So

19:29

it didn't even matter about preseason like your Jimmy's

19:31

talking about. It happened in camp. And by

19:37

the way, by the way, Juice, we

19:39

have six preseason games at that time, so you got

19:42

plenty of action in them, all right, No,

19:45

thank you? Yeah, before

19:47

we go, Juice, before we let you go, and I got into getta

19:52

talk a little bit about about your podcast,

19:55

The Fish Tank. You do it with Seth Levitt,

19:57

and Seth guy's been around the Dolphins

19:59

for a long time and deeply rooting

20:01

that football team. Knows everybody and certainly you you

20:04

have all the access and everything that that you've done.

20:06

Tell us a little bit about the Fish Tank and and how

20:08

people can catch it. Man. I'll tell

20:10

you what, man, it's been. It's been such a blessing,

20:13

man, and it's been it's been amazing that

20:15

you know, we're now part of the Miami Golfers podcast

20:18

network and uh, that in

20:20

itself means the world to me. You know, I'm such

20:22

a big dolphin home for myself and so

20:24

being a part of the organization again and any

20:26

capacity was was big for us. But the

20:29

fact that we go out and we talk to former players,

20:31

former staff members, um, you know,

20:34

former anything that has to do with anything Miami dolpher.

20:36

You need to talk some guys played against

20:38

the Miami Dolphins, get their perspective on

20:40

on anything other than X and notes. We

20:43

want the behind the scenes story. You know, what were you thinking

20:45

about the Dolphins the week you're playing it, or

20:47

what were you thinking as a wide receiver, you

20:49

know, when you're out you know the club and

20:51

you had a game we're practicing next day, you

20:53

know. So it ranges, you know, from

20:56

different topics that we talk about. But it's

20:58

so much fun to see these guys that loose,

21:00

you know, let their hair down a little bit and talk

21:02

about some of the things that as former players

21:04

John and Bow and we talked about all

21:06

the time we get together. So we said, you know

21:09

what, that would be a great podcast instead

21:11

of talking about you know, New England, Let's

21:13

talk about you know that Friday night before

21:15

we played New England on Sunday when you were out doing

21:17

this or that, or you were late for the plane

21:20

or you know, the plane broke down we had to jump

21:22

on the bus. Those stories are so much more

21:24

fun than you know, some of the other stuff. And so now

21:26

that we've been part of the the Dolphins network,

21:28

man, it's been so much fun just rehascing some of

21:30

those stories and hearing some things that I've never

21:33

heard before from guys, and finding

21:35

out guys have more personality

21:38

than you never ever imagined. We got a few

21:40

guys that we've already recorded that I never

21:42

knew had a sense of humor. Uh,

21:45

you know, we had the Todd Wade, Todd of Wade,

21:47

I never thought was a funny guy. We have him

21:49

singing karaoke on our our podet you

21:52

know things like that. Man. So yeah, you can find

21:54

us on all the all the streaming platforms

21:56

that you have. In one thousand from sending the Dolphins

21:58

podcast that work hey.

22:01

Yeah. The other thing, Juice is before we let

22:03

you go again, Uh, what are you up to these days?

22:05

I know you got your you dipped your fingers in the real estate

22:07

market, and so uh uh you know,

22:10

let's tell us a little bit about about what you're doing with that. Absolutely,

22:13

Man, my wife, you know, she's my new

22:15

quarterback. You know, she's been doing real estate for like

22:17

twenty years. I've been I've been last for the last

22:19

four years, and I just followed her lead. Man,

22:22

she's my Marino. She's been kicking a lot of but you

22:24

guys know, man, the uh you know, the real

22:26

estate market has been really hot. She's been busy,

22:28

and I've been trying to just keep up, you

22:31

know. So we've been doing that. Still part of Miami

22:33

Dolphin Alumni Advisory Board, still

22:35

run Catching any One foundation, you

22:37

know, and still the biggest stand out there. Man. Still

22:39

got two knucklehead kids nineteen and thirteen

22:42

now. But I try to keep up with Man,

22:44

it's it's firstally impossible. Man, with my old

22:46

ass. I

22:49

tell you you, and I've told you this before. You're

22:51

one of my favorite players, uh ever

22:53

on the Dolphins. So it's always a pleasure

22:55

to catch up with you again and and see you around.

22:58

Wish you guys the best of luck in your real estate

23:00

business. Look forward to see you seeing your face to face

23:02

here pretty soon. Appreciate you guys.

23:05

Thanks for having me. Well,

23:11

we're coming as well as we said, John, We're coming

23:13

up to mini camps and before you know

23:15

it, training camp is gonna be upon us.

23:17

Preseason games and the preseason games

23:20

have all been finalized. Right now. We know what

23:22

the dates are, we know what the times

23:24

are. August fourteen, they

23:26

open up on the road at Chicago one

23:29

pm kickoff for that one, Saturday

23:31

one the Atlanta Falcons at home seven

23:34

pm, and then they'll wrap things up with a nationally televised

23:36

game at four o'clock on Saturday, August

23:38

twenty night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Get

23:41

to see two O two against both uh borrow

23:44

in that one. But the question is,

23:46

John, it's not four preseason games

23:48

and three preseason games. How

23:50

do the coaching staff go about getting

23:52

players the reps that they need to be ready when

23:55

the season comes along. Yeah, I think they

23:57

got a lot of practice last year. It really

23:59

it condensed version of what preparation

24:02

means in the National Football league. They're going to

24:04

have three preseason games. Every team will have

24:06

that as you as you mentioned, but I think

24:08

the dress rehearsal will be against the Atlanta

24:10

Falcons. So I look forward to that

24:13

Atlanta Falcons game because you can

24:15

circle that one and and really look for Two

24:17

to play an extended period of time with a

24:19

new offense, new terminology, new players

24:21

at his disposal on defense, new

24:24

terminology again, new players getting

24:26

into a system that you want to run that

24:28

has been so successful last year. So I think you'll

24:31

see a lot of that in week two of the preseason.

24:33

Week one and week three it's probably a crapshoot

24:36

a little bit bo you don't know what you're gonna

24:38

get, how long the starters are gonna play. But

24:40

I do think that that middle game for for

24:43

every team is going to be that dress rehearsal,

24:45

that lengthy extension of of

24:47

plays for the starters. And it probably

24:49

should be because you need that getting in to

24:52

a seventeen game regular season schedule. And

24:54

I'm like you, John, I think two is a guy that

24:56

I'm expecting to see some some some really good

24:58

things out of him. Would you expect

25:01

to see him just in one game? John, or maybe

25:03

that first game, getting maybe a series and then

25:05

maybe get a half in the in the third game, and

25:07

then shut him down in the in the in the second

25:10

game, and then shut him down in third game. Or do you

25:12

think you'll see You think we'll see twa

25:14

in particular throughout all

25:16

three games to some degree. I think

25:18

we're gonna see the starters for ten

25:21

to twelve before team plays, probably two

25:23

series in the first game. If if

25:25

I'm the head coach, that's what I want to see. I want to get

25:28

these guys in a game situation, get him out on

25:30

the field, get him communicating, get certain

25:32

plays in, and then in that second

25:34

game, probably go into the third quarter, play

25:36

three quarters. Uh, if you're if

25:38

you're to a tongue of Boloa with the starting lineup,

25:40

but you never know what's gonna happen. Probably

25:43

all dictated by how much work they get in against

25:46

uh, you know the Falcons. How much work they get

25:48

in against the Bears in that opening

25:50

game will tell what you do against

25:52

Cincinnati in that third game. Absolutely,

25:55

that's gonna do it for the audible today, John, always a pleasure,

25:57

my friend. Yeah, that was fun, but look forward,

26:00

you can do it again. So yeah, let me remind

26:02
