Rose Colella, jazz vocalist, performs at Chicago's premier clubs including The Jazz Showcase & The Green Mill alongside the city's finest jazz musicians.
She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Roosevelt University in Chicago and owns Lola Bard Productions, named for her grandmother, a 1930s vocalist who performed and recorded with Bobby Hackett & The Original Dixieland Jazz Band. Rose & Lola were both featured in The New York Times, with a story detailing Rose’s career in Chicago inspired by Lola’s career in New York City.
Rose also has a passion as a jazz educator. She holds the positions of Director of Music at The School of Performing Arts and is the Assistant Head of the Music Department at The Chicago Academy for the Arts.
Her critically acclaimed album Small Hours and the newly released Cocktail are both available in iTunes.
Justin and Rose have been friends since their early teens. Today they talk about Rose coming into her own as a performer, the struggles of feeling the need to have all the answers, and what she's survived not once...but twice.
