Join Investing.com senior analysts Jesse Cohen and Clement Thibault as they review the most significant events that impacted financial markets last week and look ahead to what are likely to be the top business and financial stories in the week ahead.

The format is simple: the two will spend three minutes talking about each topic; a bell then sounds once time is up, whereupon they'll move on to the next topic.

This week’s episode starts with: thoughts on Wall Street’s sluggish weekly performance, which saw the S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite fall more than 1% each, notching their biggest weekly loss since late May (01:25-04:35).

Next up: The two discuss the Federal Reserve, which had a rough week of communicating its policy to markets ahead of July 30-31 meeting, at which it widely expected to deliver its first rate cut in over 10 years (04:35-08:30).

Finally, the two touched on the good Microsoft and the bad Netflix of the first major week of the second-quarter earnings season on Wall Street (08:30-11:40).

Turning their attention to the week ahead, the duo provided thoughts on the what’s in store on the earnings front, with companies like Amazon, Facebook, Google-parent Alphabet, Boeing , McDonald’s, Twitter, and Tesla all set to report their latest quarterly results in the coming days (11:40-17:40).

They also discussed what to expect from some of the major economic reports slated for the week ahead, with a reading on second-quarter U.S. GDP, due Friday, likely to steal the spotlight (17:40-21:20).

The two also gave their thoughts on the European Central Bank’s policy meeting on Thursday and what to expect as the ECB sets the stage for additional easing before the end of the year (21:20-24:45).

To close out the episode, they each provided their stock of the week: Chipotle Mexican Grill for Jesse (24:45-27:00) and Johnson & Johnson for Clement (27:00-28:30).
