Amber got her start in the internet marketing world almost 20 years ago when blogging was a new novel concept. During this time she spent 7 years working in higher education teaching time management and automation systems.

Because she wanted a change in her life, she took her skills and launched her first for-profit blog in November of 2015. By April of 2016, she was able to leave her corporate career behind and solely focused on blogging and ultimately business consulting.

When she first launched her blog, she worked 12 hour days to front load her efforts. Once she gained traction on her blog she was able to scale what she was doing back significantly.

One of the challenges she had to overcome in the beginning of her journey like many entrepreneurs was "shiny object syndrome". If something didn't relate to her blog and what she wanted to accomplish, it didn't matter to her.

A key factor in creating growth in her business was being consistent. Most business owners when they begin a blogging journey are not consistent. This results in people not wanting to follow you, and ultimately a businesses efforts failing.

A core part of her strategy to gain traction for her blog was to leverage Facebook groups. At her peak level of engagement, she was active in 15 groups. This was a very time-consuming process, as she was actively participating in conversations across all of these groups. She would spend time looking for what people were needing help within the groups, what they were asking for. Facebook groups utilized in this fashion can save someone a substantial amount of time doing market research as potential clients will tell you exactly what they need help with.

A key to success is being intentional with your interactions. You want to go beyond simply liking a post within a group. You want to actively engage in conversations, ask questions, provide valuable responses to people that compel them to reach out to you for assistance.

In launching her own programs, two factors played heavily in the success she had. First was leveraging Facebook ads. As she didn't have a list at the time, these allowed her to reach a target audience based off of what she learned people needed help within in her market research efforts. Secondly, she created her own Facebook group to engage with people in. Because her target audience spent ample time each day on Facebook, it was only logical to create a place to interact with them outside of email.

A key to success in her business is batching tasks. When you batch tasks you are accomplishing tasks that are similar in nature. This allows for you to have greater efficiency during your day. Another way to improve efficiency in your day is to utilize a scheduling tool. A scheduling tool for social media will allow you to preplan posts that will go out during the week. This allows you to get things done in advance, freeing you up to work on other tasks throughout your week instead of having to stop what you are doing constantly to create a post to distribute across various platforms.

The One Thing which can make a dramatic difference in any entrepreneur's life is giving yourself time to rest. Often we end up pushing ourselves to the brink of exhaustion and are no longer productive. When we allow ourselves time to recharge, our creativity can dramatically improve over where it would be if we were exhausted.
