Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are often thought to exist in a Yin and Yang relationship.

One is zen-like motivation and the other is about getting results, but the reality is that it is far more complex than that.

Considering the Covid-19 Pandemic has cancelled an entire season of cycling events, an Athlete is justified to ask, why am I training? Or, What is all this suffering for?

Both questions are very useful and need to be explored in order to continue training effectively in this challenging time.
