Currently in Australia it is estimated that there are over 250,000 people living with epilepsy and each year around 25,000 people are diagnosed with the condition for the first time. Approximately 3% of Australian’s could experience epilepsy within their lifetime. It is a serious brain condition which can limit people’s ability to get and have a driver’s license, it may limit the type of work they do and can results in other significant social, physical and psychological difficulties. So what actually is epilepsy, what is it caused by, and what impact can it have on the individual, and what what can be done to help people with this condition?
