For women over 50 or in midlife, challenging ourselves is important for many reasons:

1. Personal Growth: Midlife is a time of transition and reflection, and pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zone can lead to new insights, skills, and experiences.

2. Career Advancement: Many of us in midlife, especially those of us over 50, may be at a point in our careers where we are seeking new opportunities or looking to advance professionally. Challenging ourselves can help us acquire new skills, take on leadership roles, and pursue our career goals.

3. Mental and Emotional Well-being: Challenging ourselves can boost confidence, self-esteem, and resilience, which are important for maintaining mental and emotional well-being during midlife. It can also provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

4. Overcoming Stereotypes and Expectations: Women in midlife may face stereotypes and societal expectations about aging and limitations. Challenging ourselves can help break through these barriers and rid stereotypes, showing that women can continue to learn, grow, and achieve at any age.

5. Setting an Example: By challenging ourselves in midlife, we can inspire others, including younger generations, to pursue their goals and dreams with determination and resilience. We can serve as, much needed, role models for lifelong learning and personal development.

This episode was inspired by one of my favorite podcasters, Dan Koe. He is known for his quote, "Do hard things until they become easy." This quote emphasizes the importance of perseverance and pushing oneself beyond comfort zones in order to grow and achieve success. It suggests that by tackling challenging tasks consistently, individuals can develop their skills and confidence over time, ultimately making those difficult tasks seem more manageable.
