0:36

week's episode of the Calm Entrepreneur

0:38

podcast . Welcome

0:41

, welcome to the Calm Entrepreneur podcast

0:44

. I'm your host , corinne O'Flynn , and

0:46

this is episode 28 . Before

0:49

I drop into this week's energy type , i

0:51

wanted to do a little bit of a review about

0:54

human design in general , just in case you haven't

0:56

picked up any of the prior episodes in this series

0:58

. If you have been listening , some

1:00

of this will be review , but I encourage you to listen

1:02

anyway , because repetition is a huge

1:04

part of learning and mastery and eventually

1:07

, if you hear things repeated , they

1:09

will get locked into your knowledge base , which

1:12

is , i think , so amazing

1:14

just because of how our brains work . But it's really

1:16

, really cool for human design understanding , because

1:18

human design . The body of work is

1:20

enormous and growing

1:23

and it's evolving and it's

1:26

just . It's just worth listening

1:28

to again and again . Human

1:30

design is quite possibly

1:33

the most comprehensive self-discovery

1:35

tool I have ever found . It's a

1:37

unique system built to help us navigate

1:39

our energy , find our way through our lives

1:41

by understanding how to be our authentic

1:43

selves and make decisions that are

1:45

in alignment with our purpose . It's

1:48

incredibly personal , and what I

1:50

mean by that is that it shows us how we are truly

1:52

unique , and this couldn't be

1:54

more valuable to us as entrepreneurs , understanding

1:57

that we must follow our own path

2:00

and not follow the crowd . We must

2:02

empower ourselves , because when

2:04

you peel back the layers of your own human

2:06

design , it's inevitable that

2:08

you will also peel yourself away from the

2:10

pack . There are five types in

2:12

human design , and your type

2:14

is your energetic signature , it's your aura

2:16

, and even though there are only five types

2:19

in the human design system , the rest of the

2:21

system really unpacks all the different ways in

2:23

which we are truly unique . So we have

2:25

our type , our definition , our

2:27

strategy , our profile , our

2:29

authority , our self

2:31

and not self themes , our incarnation

2:34

cross , and that's just seven of

2:36

the elements that are present in everyone's

2:38

body graph in human design

2:40

, and each of those seven

2:42

things are informed by the 64

2:45

gates and all the planets and celestial bodies

2:47

in the sky . So it's

2:49

an incredible and profound system

2:51

that is meant for contemplation

2:53

. It is meant to be something that you can use

2:55

for the rest of your life to unpack

2:57

you , and I think that that's what draws me

2:59

so deeply to it , because in the time that

3:02

I've been learning human design and now that I've become

3:04

a coach in human design , i'm sharing

3:06

it with people and I'm coaching other people and

3:09

I'm seeing the awakenings

3:11

that are in store for all of us . So if

3:13

you're curious about yourself and looking

3:16

within and really tapping into who you are

3:18

and what that means and

3:20

how you can master your energy by understanding

3:23

your conditioning , this is something that I urge

3:25

you to explore , and for a lot of people it's

3:27

an overload right , it's a fire hose

3:29

of information and it's one of those things . It's like

3:32

the epitome of a rabbit hole , because there

3:34

truly is so much to explore . So

3:36

that's why I'm putting together these simpler

3:39

, one-on-one kind of guide

3:41

episodes , because if

3:43

you learn just the several

3:45

things that I share in my episodes

3:47

about your type , that's enough to

3:49

keep you going for the rest of

3:52

your life . You don't have to dig in any further

3:54

to really make a shift and a huge

3:56

change . But if you do which for more , reach

3:58

out . If you want a chart reading session

4:00

or you want to explore coaching by your design

4:02

, that is something that's available to you . So

4:05

over the next few episodes I'm going to be covering the different

4:07

aspects of human design , starting with

4:09

type , strategy and authority . And if you haven't

4:11

yet learned your type and you are curious to

4:13

know what that is , you can go to my website

4:16

at Carino Flynncom and click

4:18

on the free human design

4:20

chart in the menu . I'll also link

4:22

to this in the show notes . To make it easy , but it

4:24

only takes a few minutes , you need

4:27

your birth information and then you'll have your chart

4:29

, and your chart never changes . Your chart is your chart

4:31

, is your chart for the rest of your life , which

4:34

kind of makes it easier , because then you can only

4:36

have so much to learn about in

4:38

human design . So what is human

4:41

design ? Human design was channeled by

4:43

a guy named Ra Uruhu in 1987

4:45

. It is a blend of four ancient

4:48

modalities the Kabbalah tree of life

4:50

. The Hindu Brahman chakra system . The

4:52

Chinese Yi Qing , which is also known as

4:54

the book of changes , and Western astrology

4:56

, and these are combined with genetics

4:59

and quantum mechanics , and

5:01

that's really important . The quantum

5:03

piece , because the neutrino stream

5:05

, which is made up of dark matter . It's

5:07

the field of subatomic particles

5:10

which is created by cosmic rays

5:12

, and that is how energy travels through

5:15

the universe . It's also called Prana

5:17

, it's also called Chi , and

5:19

I don't want to get too far into the weeds

5:21

here on all of that . So I'm going

5:23

to dive into the next of the types

5:25

that I'm discussing in this series And

5:28

, as I said earlier , there are five types in human design

5:30

. They are the manifestor , the

5:32

generator , the manifesting generator

5:35

, the projector and the reflector

5:37

. And if you missed the prior

5:39

episode , episode 27 is where

5:41

I go over the manifestor . The

5:43

thing that differentiates the types is

5:46

the way that each type exchanges energy with

5:48

other people , as well as the way that we use

5:50

our energy to move about our everyday . Each

5:52

of the five types has a role to play . Each

5:55

one has their gifts to give and each one has

5:57

strengths and each one

5:59

has their role to play

6:01

in the world , and we all

6:03

have all of the chart , and I want

6:05

to make that super duper clear , because there

6:07

is no type , no

6:10

human design type that is more desirable

6:12

or better than another type . Each of them

6:14

has their own things that

6:16

make them special and unique , and understanding

6:19

your type is really what this

6:21

is all about . And the more we dig into how

6:23

the different types interact with each other

6:25

, the clearer it will

6:27

be that we pick up on the

6:29

energy of other people . It's

6:32

the people we spend time with , the people we live with

6:34

, the people we work with , and

6:37

that means that we have access

6:39

to all of the chart in human design

6:41

, and that is something that Karen Curry Parker

6:43

, who is my Quantum Human Design Coach , she

6:46

makes sure to stress all the time

6:48

, because people speak about this incorrectly . Curry

6:51

has all the chart . The differences come from

6:53

the places where we have definition versus openness

6:55

. So there are 64 gates in

6:57

the body graph and all of us has

7:00

every one of them either defined or

7:02

open . So when you look at your chart and

7:04

you see the places where you have definition , you're

7:07

going to know that they're defined , because they're colored in

7:09

, and I should have an aside

7:11

here Depending on where you do download your chart

7:13

, the colors of the chart

7:15

are going to be different from each other . Some charts

7:17

are red and black , some are . The one on my website

7:19

right now is gold and burgundy

7:22

. There are some that are like pastels

7:24

. There are some that are red and blue . The colors

7:26

don't matter . The fact that it's colored

7:28

in is what matters . So definition

7:30

is colored , openness is not

7:33

colored in , and it is not

7:35

correct to say that you

7:37

don't have an aspect

7:39

in the chart because it isn't colored in . Okay

7:42

, it's just a matter of how you access

7:44

that energy , and that's actually

7:46

something else that I think is important

7:49

to discuss . There's language

7:51

used in quantum human design and

7:53

traditional human design that

7:56

it's the regular language that we all use

7:58

in English , and often

8:00

there are definitions that we assign

8:03

, meanings that we assign to certain words

8:05

that we associate , that

8:07

make us jump to conclusions and make judgments

8:09

about certain things in the chart , and I want

8:11

you to resist that , because there are

8:13

things in the chart that are said , that are

8:15

described in a certain way that might feel negative

8:18

or might feel positive , and without

8:20

the context of what it means in human design

8:23

, you don't have the whole picture . So I

8:25

would urge you to make sure that you do

8:27

the reading and listen

8:29

clearly so that you understand that

8:31

when it says that you know

8:33

, for example , the manifestor has

8:35

a closed aura , that doesn't

8:37

mean that they're closed off and they're , you know

8:39

, shut off from the world . It means that

8:41

they're protective . That's a positive thing

8:44

. But on to generators . This episode

8:46

is all about generators . Generators

8:48

comprise about 37% of

8:50

the population And

8:52

their energy is described as open

8:54

and enveloping , and

8:57

receptivity is a key note for generators

8:59

, in that you are designed to take

9:01

in everything in your environment

9:03

and then decide what

9:05

you want to commit your energy to , because

9:08

a generator is meant to

9:11

spend all of their energy

9:13

doing the thing that they love

9:15

the most . The thing that makes

9:17

a generator a generator is

9:20

the fact that on

9:22

their body graph chart , their sacral

9:24

center is defined , and the sacral center

9:26

is a motor center , and it's the only

9:29

motor center in the entire

9:31

body graph that can provide

9:33

sustained , consistent energy

9:36

, and that's important . Generators

9:39

need to do things repeatedly , and the reason

9:41

they do things over and over again is because

9:43

they are actually working toward perfection

9:46

. The challenge for generators

9:48

is that they get frustrated

9:50

and they quit too soon , and something that

9:52

is unique to generator types is that

9:55

they have this stair step learning curve

9:57

. I guess it shouldn't be called a learning curve at all

9:59

. They have a stair , step learning curve that

10:02

they experience , and this means that they

10:05

have a growth cycle , this

10:07

big surge of energy , and they're doing

10:09

and learning , and doing and learning , and , right , when

10:11

they're about to have a breakthrough and they're about

10:14

to level up , they plateau , and

10:16

that plateau feels like

10:18

frustration , but what that is is

10:21

the signal that you're gathering up your energy

10:23

and you're about to level up , you're

10:26

about to take the next step . So

10:28

if this was going to be charted out on a piece of like

10:30

graph paper , it would look like a staircase going up

10:33

and flat , up and flat , up and flat

10:35

. And so the lesson , the challenge

10:37

for the generator , is to hang on through

10:40

that lull and not quit too

10:42

soon , because the energy that you build

10:44

up during the plateau is what you need

10:46

to get that next growth phase to

10:49

come in . One of the most valuable lessons

10:51

a generator type can learn is that when

10:53

they feel frustration , it

10:55

is an opportunity right , that's the

10:57

signal to pause and recalibrate

10:59

and to nurture your energy while you're

11:01

waiting for that next thing to appear , because

11:04

the next thing is not where you

11:06

are right now And the next

11:08

thing actually has to appear , it

11:10

has to present itself , because it does not come

11:13

from within you . It actually has to

11:15

come from the outside world , and it will only

11:17

come when your energy says

11:19

that you are ready . The openness

11:21

and enveloping qualities of the generators

11:23

make them come across as warm

11:25

and inviting to other people . They

11:27

connect easily with others because

11:30

the generators can feel what

11:32

these people need and that those

11:35

other people can tell that

11:38

you're here to give them what they need . And

11:40

so that means that people can sense

11:42

your openness and they feel like they can ask

11:45

favors of you all the time , and that can lead

11:47

you to be taken advantage of

11:49

. And so the generators

11:51

, nurturing tendencies , make them

11:53

say yes far more often than they

11:55

should at their own expense

11:58

, and this leads to burnout , taking

12:00

on more than you can handle , depleting your

12:02

energy , and it makes you feel resentful

12:05

. And the medicine for

12:07

this is to go back

12:09

to following your strategy . So what

12:11

is the generator strategy ? The generator

12:13

strategy is to respond

12:15

, and I

12:18

remember the first time I learned about

12:20

this and I've shared this in earlier episodes where

12:22

I talked about human design

12:24

because I am one of the generator types

12:26

. I'm not a pure generator , i'm a manifesting

12:29

generator , but my strategy

12:31

is also to respond , and

12:33

I was so confused when I heard

12:35

that like respond to what

12:37

? But now that I understand

12:40

it , it makes a ton of sense because

12:42

in the time since learning this

12:44

, i have been allowing myself

12:46

to live by my strategy And

12:49

just about everything in my life has

12:51

changed for the better . And when I say

12:53

that , i'm talking about the sense of ease

12:55

and flow in my life . Learning

12:57

to wait to respond has been a game changer

12:59

for me , which is

13:02

one of the reasons why I'm so passionate about sharing

13:04

human design with the world , because , no

13:06

matter what your human design is , your

13:09

type has a strategy , and if

13:11

you are able to take nothing else away

13:13

from these conversations about human design , let

13:15

it be learning your type and

13:18

learning your strategy and how to live

13:20

by your strategy with the

13:22

understanding of what your type is . I

13:25

can't . You guys , it's huge , huge

13:27

with a capital H . So

13:29

what does it mean to respond ? For

13:32

generators , like I said , they

13:34

have a defined sacral center . This means

13:36

that there is this primal gut

13:38

response that arises in your lower

13:41

belly and it lights this spark

13:43

. It gives energy to something . That

13:46

response is to

13:48

something external . It's never

13:50

going to be something in your mind . And that

13:52

took a little time for me to get my head around , because

13:54

the qualifier that responding

13:57

means I have to respond to something external was

13:59

still confusing to me . So , to put it simply , when

14:01

you have a defined sacral , it means that you

14:04

will get this in the moment gut

14:06

response to something in the world And , as

14:08

a sacral being , that response is going to be a full

14:10

body yes . And if it is not

14:12

a full body yes , burning

14:15

on fire , oh my gosh , yes

14:17

then it's either a no or

14:20

a not right now . So the lack of a full

14:22

body yes is not always no . It

14:24

could be yes , but not now . It

14:26

could be that the timing is not right . So

14:29

those are . That is

14:31

the strategy for the generative types . Human

14:34

design also has themes for

14:36

each type And these are the signs

14:38

that tell you whether

14:40

or not you're acting in alignment , and these are

14:42

called the self and the not

14:44

self themes in traditional human

14:47

design and the balanced and

14:49

unbalanced expression in

14:51

quantum human design , and I prefer

14:53

the quantum definition because it feels

14:55

more accessible to me . It talks

14:57

about being in a state of being I

15:01

am in a balanced state or an unbalanced

15:03

state , and when it's

15:05

just gentler to think about it , like if you're in

15:08

an unbalanced state , then you can work to

15:10

get back into balance . And

15:12

you know , for me it just . it

15:14

just speaks more clearly to me . So

15:16

the balanced expression for generators is

15:19

satisfaction . This is the sign that

15:21

you're working in alignment , that

15:23

you are feeling completely satisfied with

15:25

whatever it is that you're doing in your life

15:27

at the moment . It comes through as contentment

15:30

. This is when you have worked really

15:32

hard all day doing

15:34

the thing that you love and you find yourself at

15:36

the end of the day , satisfied that

15:38

you did what you were meant to do today and you have no more

15:41

energy left to burn And it's

15:43

time for rest . And that energy

15:45

burn is really important for generator

15:47

types to understand . Generators

15:50

are meant to burn off all of their

15:52

energy each day doing the

15:54

things that they want to do . Now , this

15:56

is not burning the candle at birth

15:58

, both ends and then burning themselves out . It

16:00

is spending all the energy that they have

16:03

stored up so that by the end of

16:05

the day , when it's time to rest , they

16:07

can go to bed depleted of all

16:09

their energy . So if you are a generator

16:11

type , you might need to go for a run

16:14

during the day or do something else physically

16:16

to actually spend

16:18

all of your energy before the day is

16:21

done , and if you are a generator type and

16:23

you struggle with insomnia . My spouse

16:25

is one of those

16:27

people And when I try to explain this to him

16:29

he just kind of gives me the arched eyebrow

16:31

because I'm speaking

16:33

magical things here . But that's something to

16:36

lean into . I really when

16:38

my husband , the generator , works

16:41

out really hard and spends his energy

16:43

, he sleeps so much better

16:46

than on the days that he doesn't , and

16:48

you know he , no matter what

16:50

I do , he calls it that's anecdotal . I would have

16:52

nothing to do with this . That is something to do with that

16:54

. So the balanced expression for the generator

16:56

is satisfaction . The other side

16:58

of that is the unbalanced expression

17:01

, and that is the experience of how

17:03

it feels when you're not in alignment . And so the Unbalanced

17:05

expression for the generator is frustration . And

17:07

this is tricky because when you act against

17:10

your strategy and you feel frustration Because

17:12

things aren't an alignment , but you also

17:14

feel frustration when you're about to level

17:17

up . So You

17:19

have to figure out how to Understand

17:22

the nuance there . The unbalanced

17:24

generator has a pattern of

17:26

quitting too soon , of responding to frustration

17:29

by quitting and not waiting for the Next

17:31

right thing to present itself . Right

17:33

, it's this Not trusting that

17:35

they're supported by the universe . So

17:37

if you are a generator type

17:40

and you find yourself quitting often

17:42

And this is not to say that you're not allowed to quit things

17:44

You are allowed to quit things but you have to use

17:46

your strategy to quit . You have to use your strategy

17:48

and your authority to quit , and your

17:50

authority is the last thing that I wanted to talk

17:52

about . It's really helpful to understand , as

17:55

you start to explore your design , that

17:57

, in addition to a type and the strategy

17:59

, you do have an authority , and authority

18:01

is not specific to your

18:03

type or your strategy . When

18:06

you understand how do you use your strategy with

18:08

your authority , you will find yourself

18:11

living a life where things really do fall

18:13

into place . They start to feel magical and

18:15

very , very easeful . And there are

18:17

two that are available to the

18:19

generator types . The two for

18:21

The generators are a sacral

18:24

authority and emotional authority . For

18:26

generators with an emotional authority , once

18:29

they are responding to the things in their present

18:31

environment with that sacral energy

18:33

that lights them up , they have to ride

18:35

their emotional wave and come

18:38

back full circle on their emotional

18:40

wave before taking

18:42

action and making that final decision . And

18:44

I will

18:46

go into the emotional wave in a future episode because

18:49

it is really , it's . It's just so interesting

18:51

. But it requires that

18:53

You can hold the

18:55

yes or the no response and Sustain

18:58

that yes over the duration of your emotional

19:00

wave . And for some people the wave is a few

19:02

hours , for some people It's you know , overnight

19:05

. You sleep on it . Some people It's a week

19:07

, some people It's a couple of days . There is

19:09

a way to track it . But it is enough to know

19:11

that if you are a generator type with

19:13

an emotional authority and you would

19:15

like to take action on something That needs a yes

19:17

, that yes has

19:19

to stay over the course of your high

19:22

and your low . And the high and

19:24

the low have nothing to do with anything Going

19:26

on in the outside world . So if you have

19:28

a fight with someone let's say you Have

19:31

an argument with your best friend , or you have an argument

19:33

with your partner , or you have an argument with your child , and

19:36

you get all bummed out . That is not a low

19:38

in your emotional wave . The

19:40

emotional wave Rises and

19:42

falls . There's a rise and a dip . That

19:44

is completely irrelevant to anything that's

19:46

actually happening in the world . So it's . It's

19:49

how you feel in your body . So that is the

19:51

emotional authority for generators , with the

19:53

sacral authority . Once they are responding

19:55

to things in the present environment with

19:57

that sacral energy that lights them up , they

20:00

then must learn to trust the gut

20:02

response in the moment , that inner knowing

20:04

that this next thing is What

20:07

they should choose . And that sounds really

20:09

simple , but it's not . It's a skill that

20:11

must be learned because it requires Quieting

20:15

, it requires really learning

20:17

how to read your own body and those

20:20

signals that we get as generators . It's

20:22

this inner compass and

20:24

we all crave that

20:27

knowing , and generators have it inside

20:29

, and So often

20:32

we we look outside

20:34

, we ask for input and we we try

20:36

to get the answer from somebody else like what should I do

20:38

? What should I do ? the generator has to

20:40

look , it has to look within . That's the

20:42

only place where alignment is

20:44

going to come . Okay , so to review

20:46

, in this episode we did a deep dive

20:49

into the generator type and all of the main

20:51

points that it means to be a generator . We talked

20:53

about having an open and enveloping

20:55

aura , we talked about the generator

20:57

types , strategy to respond , and

21:00

we talked about the balanced and unbalanced

21:02

expressions being satisfaction and

21:04

frustration , and what that means

21:07

for a generator . We

21:09

talked about how important it is for a generator

21:11

to hold on and not quit when

21:13

frustration shows up , and how they

21:16

are allowed to quit , but they must wait

21:18

for something in the external world , using

21:20

their authority to give them the sign

21:22

that it's actually okay to quit . If you

21:24

are a generator , the lesson for you is

21:27

to learn to wait for the next right

21:29

step to present itself from

21:32

the outside world . It cannot come

21:34

from you . It must come from the

21:36

external world , and you must learn to

21:38

trust that the inner , sacral

21:40

response will light up that next

21:43

step for you . You are meant to do

21:45

things that you love . You are meant

21:47

to spend all of your energy doing the

21:49

things that light you up , and that's pretty

21:51

exciting , i think . So

21:53

I hope that after listening to this episode , you

21:55

understand a little bit more about how valuable

21:58

it is to understand your

22:01

strategy and your type and

22:03

your authority , and if you're

22:05

interested in learning more about yourself and your

22:07

human design , i urge you to visit

in which your design can be tapped into to

22:28

make life just It's

22:30

just . It's incredible how simple

22:32

it is once you see it , but
