Today’s guest is the awesome Dominique Reese. She is the owner of Reese Financial Services and creator of Master My Money personal financial coaching programs and Master My Money University. At Reese Financial Services, she is the Chief Financial Coach and Strategist, where she helps her clients create foundations of wealth through money mastery. Here are some highlights from our conversation today:

-        Master my Money personal financial coaching program is her brainchild and it teaches techniques and strategies that will allow people to get intimate with their numbers the way that they become masters. This way, they are taking on skills so they can take over their financial life. Finances is a journey according to Dr. Reese. You can have your financial house in order but not always make the best decisions. Ultimately, even if you haven’t been making the best decisions, you now have the skills and techniques to get you out of that situation because of the Master My Money program.

She is currently working with women who are in transition. Dr. Rees defines them as women who have a 9-5 job who are making money but has no idea where it’s going. They have the skills and talent but they don’t have the know-how to keep their finances in order. She also serves women who just started a family who want to keep their financial house in order, and also women who have been laid-off that would like to make sure that they are making the best financial decisions knowing that their income is going away. She also works with women who are ready to make the change – women who are tired of living by the paycheck and would like to take over their finances. Over the years, her clientele has come to include men.

-        She got started into this career because she was very interested with managing finances. She has the information that people need and she feels it is her responsibility to share this gift with people. She is able to do this because of her extensive experience – she has a career in financial services, that spanned 10 years and she has experience in the worlds of relationship management, traditional and online marketing, private wealth management, investment management, financial literacy and education, business development, program and curriculum design, budgeting and financial counseling.

-        It is so important to know what things come naturally for you and identifying these things can help you be passionate in what you do. She has two quotes that she ascribes to for her personal life and career. One is “Our small successes lead to our larger victories”. As an entrepreneur, you sometimes doubt and fear every single day. Every time you have a new idea or new product or offer, you sometimes have fears if people will receive it. You need small victories to help you stay motivated. Another quote is “We must fire fear as our CEO“. You need to fire fear in order to be successful.

-        Dr. Reese admits that during the start of her business, she didn’t know what it means to have a business. She had a good sales background, but once she got the deal and have the money, she didn’t know what comes next. She had to learn everything from operations to marketing. Sales, relationship management and client acquisitions came naturally to her and that is her plus for her business. She knew what she had to offer, but she didn’t know how to price it, how to market it and how to get it out in the market.

-        As for outsourcing, the first thing she outsources is her email marketing. Follow-up is critical for her business and she found an email marketing tool that enables her to stay connected with her clients and prospects.

-        Her biggest waste of money was not making an investment sooner with a coach. That was when she learned what things that she needed to do and she realized that she should’ve done coaching a long time ago.

-        Her low point came to her when she was torn with deciding between becoming a mother and focusing on her business. She got to a point where the overwhelm was so great and she pushed everything for over a month. She really needed to take a step back and focus on the things she needed to do one by one.

-        The time management strategy that works best for her is discipline with her time. She has specific time blocks for her business, her family, and her personal life so she could focus best to what she needs to get done and her responsibilities.
