Your CEO Teacher ® mental health check in

Overwhelm, imposter syndrome, general malaise, depression…we don’t talk about mental health in schools nearly enough! My guest today, luckily, is a mental health advocate who is actively changing that fact. Friends, this interview is so inspirational because it will not only debunk the idea that you have to do #allthethings, it will also show you how just one free resource can become an agent for good. Today, you’re going to learn how, through a passion to support mental health for students and mental health in schools, my guest was catalyzed both into the spotlight and into an amazing business.

Mental health for students begins with your own mental health

It is with great pleasure that I introduce Erin Castillo. Erin is a high school special education teacher living and teaching in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is passionate about incorporating mental health into the classroom and helping other educators do the same. Erin offers mental health resources and guides on her Instagram along with her mental health check-in poster that has been featured on Good Morning America and the Kelly Clarkson Show. When Erin isn’t teaching, Erin can be found outside with her 3 year old son, beagle, and her high school sweetheart. While you listen to today’s episode, perhaps it’s worth asking: when was the last time you checked in with yourself? Listen here!

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Why mental health for schools begins with mental health for teachers
  • How asking for help indicates maturity and leads to you receiving more support, guidance, and, ultimately, being a better teacher
  • How to use a mental health check in for students in your classroom
  • Why and how your best products might become free resources
  • How you don’t need to be on every platform or channel to go viral
