Scripture repeatedly says that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Being proud to be an American is like being proud to be six foot tall, something that just happened. Nationalism aligns you with the kingdom of this world to the exclusion of others. How can we reach and save the lost if our beliefs are divisive and exclude many groups of people? God called us to be a light to the nations and to spread the gospel to the whole world, including those in other countries and across political lines. The Lord told the Israelites that the nations blasphemed His name because of their insular actions. If you shared the gospel with someone and they saw your divisive Facebook posts, what impact do you think that will have? As citizens of Heaven, we must align ourselves with His Kingdom alone to set the captives free.
