2 Broke Girls is an American situational comedy created by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings for CBS. The show follows a fairly standard odd couple formula centered around a rich socialite who lost everything when her daddy got involved with a Ponzi scheme and a poor waitress who never had anything to lose in the first place. They work together in a diner where everyone is sexist, slightly funny and a little racist.

The pilot starts with Max Black (Kat Dennings) covering a bunch of extra tables while her co-worker sleeps with the cook, Oleg (Jonathan Kite), in the walk in refrigerator. The next day Max finds out from her boss Bryce Lee (Matthew Moy) that her co-worker has been fired and replaced with Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs).  It quickly becomes apparent that Caroline has never been a waitress in her entire life and she has no idea what she is doing. The rest of the pilot is spent with Caroline attempting to not get sexually assaulted by Max's boyfriend Robbie (Noah Mills) while planning a way to make more money off of Max's cupcakes. Max spends most of the pilot working two jobs, making jokes about sex and mocking anyone with money. The pilot ends with Max breaking up with Robbie, Caroline stealing back her own horse and the two setting out to start their own cupcake business.
