This is the audio recorded version of the Academy Webinar series. We host the Academy Webinar series online over Zoom every Wednesday for our Fitness & Wellness Professionals.

When general population clients come to you with goals in mind, they are usually in no position to dive headfirst into specific training for their immediate goal. More often than not, they have lifestyle and stress factors that require addressing, and tidying up before they can respond well to more specialised training.

Training is a stressor on the body, and we all know that you can only train as hard as you can recover from.

Cue GPP.

GPP (General Physical Preparedness) is a term thrown around mainly in athletic development. The concept being that you lay a broad, solid foundation before fine tuning into specifics.

We like to allocate GPP phases to our Gen-Pop clients. A broad, solid foundation for them looks like:

>A good aerobic base
>Healthy Blood Pressure range
>Healthy resting heart rate
>Healthy HRV
>Structurally balanced
>Good exercise execution
>Good stress management

Once we have built a really strong base, we can safely drop the hammer and work towards their specific goals – training a lot harder and recovering a lot more effectively than if a solid foundation had not been built.

To write a GPP phase, and progress them into an SPP Phase (Specific Physical Preparedness), it is important to know and understand the role of assessment. Assessing where a client is currently, and how to progress them safely and effectively from zero to hero for long lasting results.

We will cover how to build a solid foundation in which you can then capitalise on for more specific goals and achievements.
