Jennifer and Mark Wise break down the most essential parts to improve your rubrics. I have struggled with creating rubrics in the past and I felt as if this pod cast gave me helpful tips. I enjoyed taking note of the five criteria’s every teacher should be doing right now to improve any rubric. This allows me to really break down what was important in my rubrics and what was not. I recommend this podcast for any new or experienced teachers. It is a great way to update your rubric making skills!
I thought this episode was a wonderful reminder of best practices when writing or reviewing rubrics that educators use in their classrooms. I thought it was so applicable when you discussed that our language when writing rubrics should be very clear and intentional. Students need to get something out of the rubric, instead of just a means to a grade. A quote that really stuck with me was when Mark Wise said, "Our job is not to cover the content, our job is to cause learning." Thank you for these awesome tips!
