Not digging the new iteration with BA Parker. The episodes have no substance or critical analysis and sorry I dont care about the hot take from her friends or mom. The topics feel trite and there is an overuse of Instagram speak. Avery had her flaws (her privilege could pop trough at times, like the episode about having kids) but there was overall more depth.

I didn't listen to the original iteration of this show, so I am only rating the 2020 reboot here.I *love* Avery Trufelman, so it is with a heavy heart that I am breaking up with this podcast. Each episode falls short of making its point and seems to end up loving the concept it should be criticizing. I get the impression that they have something to say about culture, but don't want to offend the YouTube beauty channel-watching, celebrity-obsessed millennials among us, so they pull their punches. Not much of a cut.

Quality commentary from voices that should be heard.

This is a podcast that I can't miss out on. If you want to have a feelings about women's life, you can give it a try.

In theory I should love this podcast. Only - opening with 'tell me about your shoes' leans a little too uncritically into some essentializing tropes about WOMANHOOD as monolithic. Who cares what shoes someone's wearing - interviews with extremely accomplished people are immediately framed with one of the most regressive stereotypes about women (i.e. - obsessed with shoes). Like HYSTERIA Podcast, the implied heteronormativity of the In Her Shoes starting point of reference is just depressing.
