Listen, I was about to say, bless my own heart.

0:04

Bless your heart. Listen, I have no problem calling my own self out.

0:10

I'll be like, oh, blonde moment, bless my heart.

0:16

What's up, DadHack crew, and welcome to another episode of the DadHack Chronicles podcast.

0:21

This week, I finished my conversation with Jordan Price.

0:24

We discussed her time with Jacksonville Jaguars.

0:27

We finished that conversation. Then we also talk a little bit more about the

0:31

Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Also, we talk merchandise.

0:34

May or may not have bought some hats. Just saying. And then finally,

0:39

my famous, not so famous questions. Before I give you guys the episode, I wanted to remind you guys that if you

0:44

are interested in the Curveprint Media Meetup, we will be having that here in

0:49

North Carolina, May 24th, 25th, and 26th.

0:53

We will be attending the Holly Springs Salamanders, the Carolina Mudcast,

0:57

and the Durham Bulls. Three games, three weeks, three days.

1:01

It's going to be awesome, guys. So I want you guys to come and try to make it

1:04

at least for one, right? We're going to hang out, have some fun,

1:07

drink some beers, eat some hot dogs, and of course, watch some baseball.

1:11

All right. Now that we got that part out of the way, I give you guys the episode.

1:17

So, you know, obviously you got to experience all of this.

1:22

And now you're bringing all of this back to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

1:27

But I want to know a little bit about the offseason, right? Because during the

1:31

offseason, people think that not a lot goes on with the baseball team.

1:36

But there's still some things that you guys do. Like, I mean, you even have the video shoots and all of that.

1:41

So, like, what does that look like?

1:44

So, Brian and I, Brian's my video guy. Brian and I, once a month,

1:48

get together and we do the offseason show update.

1:51

And it's just to update what's going on. You know, like, October is more like

1:56

the Marlins kind of thing. Like, you know, the Marlins season who had a really

2:01

like jazz chism jazz played for us.

2:03

An amazing guy. I love his personality.

2:07

So, you know, jazz had this kind of a season. One of our players got pulled

2:12

up and, you know, he ended this season, you know, or who was the player of the

2:16

year, things like that. So that's just kind of like a follow up to the season.

2:20

November is kind of like, all right, what's our Black Friday special?

2:23

Do we have a movie coming? Because we still want to bring families into the ballpark. So we have movie night on the field.

2:32

Sometimes, I think we had a bingo game one night. They had like the disc golf

2:37

or they had like, they have a little putt-putt course at Topgolf that they do like an event for.

2:42

So we always have something going on because we always want to bring family

2:45

to the ballpark, but we want to make it affordable family fun too. Mm-hmm.

2:50

We don't want to turn anybody away. We want them to continue to love the shrimp

2:54

in season and off season. So yeah, we do that. Then I was asked, or I actually asked, I was like,

3:01

do you want a merch suit girl? Like, do you need a, do you need a toddler? Like we've never done toddlers.

3:06

So it, it's whatever they need. Like if they need me to come in and shoot a

3:10

video, I'll come in and shoot a video. If you need me to come into a merch suit, I'll come into a merch suit.

3:14

Like I love the baseball park.

3:17

I love the people who work there. so i'm up for

3:20

anything and i try to take lily whenever i

3:23

can if she can come do shrimp show yeah i want

3:26

her to come do shrimp show i've had great bloopers with

3:29

her like last this time last year i

3:32

took her up there and i just want her to say play ball because she was

3:35

getting in that talking yeah and homegirl was picking

3:38

her nose of course homegirl was witnessing

3:42

baby shark shark nope okay yep that

3:45

was my favorite she was like no no no no baby shark baby and

3:48

i'm like oh lord these are gonna

3:51

be great bloopers but then at the end of the at the end of

3:53

the thing she's like play ball i'm like yeah i got

3:56

the play ball that's all i needed yeah so

4:00

it i mean it's always something we got something

4:03

going on so it just to keep

4:06

everybody in the loop so now like i'll go in and I'll shoot

4:09

shrimp show and it'll be all right what's leading

4:12

up to opening day what are we fixing to have

4:14

what movie night's coming up what's going

4:17

on in spring training things like that who's made

4:20

the 40 man roster our coaching staff

4:23

was announced the Marlins announced their coaching staff just trying to keep

4:27

everybody in the loop because yes it's off season but it's not really off season

4:32

something's going on yeah it never is off season in baseball all right two more

4:35

questions and then we'll go into my famous not so famous questions here one

4:39

have you ever pulled a tarp. Yes one time because i've

4:46

always said i wanted to pull tarp and i did i never

4:50

knew how hard that was really never knew

4:53

especially when there's water oh my lord i

4:56

didn't know you had to pull it all the way down all the

4:59

way back all the way down then you had to

5:02

fold it i never knew and so it's

5:05

always funny because always on the rain days i'd be i'd be

5:08

there forgotten my rain boots or i'm wearing white of course

5:11

and i'm like no i'm not i'm not pulling tarp in the white so

5:14

i can never say never mama's not doing that yeah

5:17

i mean i would do it if i just knew i wasn't going to get muddy because you

5:24

still got to mc even afterwards oh yeah so i like my backpack always has my

5:28

rain boots my rain jacket in it because when in doubt i'm going to go out there

5:32

i'm going to entertain the fans in the rain i've done it plenty of times and

5:36

i'll continue to do it we've We've had a, a Wolfie ball tournament in the rain because we had a rain in the lane,

5:42

you know, we want to keep the fans entertained. So we went out there and play Wolfie ball. I even played Wolfie ball, hold a microphone.

5:47

Like, you know, David's really good at, I would never ask y'all to do something I wouldn't do.

5:53

And I'm like kind of the same way. I'm not fixing to make y'all go out there and not be in the rain.

5:57

Like I'll have a rain jacket and rain boots, but I'll still go out there and

6:00

I'll still entertain. It's part of the business, right?

6:03

Yeah. All right. Right. And then my last question, actually,

6:06

you brought up another one. You said woofy ball?

6:09

Mm-hmm. What is that? So I didn't know.

6:14

I had no idea until they told me because I was like, I mean,

6:18

I know wiffle ball. Yeah. Oh, is it wiffle ball? Is it wiffle? I don't know. What is it?

6:25

It's like the little ball with the holes in it. It's like a little like.

6:28

With the yellow bat? I guess. Yeah. I just.

6:33

Yeah it's yes so is it wiffle or wiffle wiffle wiffle ball right right you did

6:38

okay all right so we're good i was about to say bless my own heart.

6:46

Bless your heart listen i

6:49

have no problem calling my own self out like i'll

6:52

be like blonde moment and bless my heart i

6:55

have no

6:58

problem that's good no shame in my game i say that too so oh that's good all

7:05

right i'm dying here all right last question we can have bloopers i always have

7:10

bloopers this is going to be part of like the intro of the of the of the uh

7:15

podcast now it's like you you know, bless my heart.

7:18

So there it is. I need it.

7:23

All right. I want, obviously I am a massive, massive fan of hats.

7:29

I have like these kind of has that hats. I have.

7:32

A lot too many my wife didn't even think about wearing one

7:35

oh the humanity how dare

7:38

you yesterday's hair was still going so i

7:41

can cover it up i get you girl i got

7:44

no hair so i get it so that's why i wear a hat so but

7:48

you guys do really really good job at

7:51

always bringing out different merch all

7:54

the time usually our hat

7:57

wall it is amazing oh i've

8:00

been there i've been to your to your were ballpark i was there last year

8:03

okay so you've seen the whole back side wall

8:06

like it is amazing it's beautiful and now

8:09

we got new kid one oh lily wouldn't

8:12

wear it but we have the cutest little kid section because

8:16

when we were in the shop on monday i was looking at i was like these hats are

8:20

really cute for little kids and then lily's like no of course it's my daughter

8:25

same thing beautiful curly hair so i'm like okay girl yeah we can't hide the

8:29

curly hair so it's okay My daughter's the same thing. She's like, Daddy, it's okay.

8:33

So I stopped buying her hats just because, you know, this is no point.

8:37

So we went from hats to stuffed animals now. That's just how that goes.

8:40

If I go to a game. Oh, my gosh, that's her.

8:43

And then her new thing, you know, she loves sharks and whatnot.

8:47

We went to Dave and Buster's and she, out of everything, I'm like,

8:50

here's this really sparkly unicorn. Like, you're going to love it. Nope. She wanted the hand puppet plastic shark.

8:58

Of course. that's how it goes i'm like out of everything in the store you want

9:03

this little hand puppet plastic shark she's like yep and when i say she got

9:07

up the next morning and she's like where's my blue shark of course i don't know

9:11

where your blue shark is like you did where'd you put it,

9:15

yep she spent all morning trying to find that stupid blue shark but she loves it whatever,

9:22

so how much merch do you have jacksonville shrub uh jumbo shrimp do you have

9:26

is it bad like where do i begin so i have a storage pie.

9:36

That i have like buckets of things and

9:39

i'm like you know you got your holiday wear you got your fancy

9:42

dress wear you got my jaguar

9:46

wear because you never want to i don't want to throw anything thing jaguar is

9:49

the way because look at everything's coming back you know the throwback

9:52

collection of course and then just like i just i used to wear

9:54

that i used to wear that just so you guys know so it's like you know

9:58

i can still fit in it so it's like bust that little shirt out

10:01

you know here and there and then i have a jumbo shrimp one and

10:05

so i brushed out my winter wear so i bring in all my winter wear and i had to

10:11

move out my jumbo shrimp wear so it's yeah i got a lot I gotta give me some

10:17

more Jacksonville because I guess I have the Jacksonville Suns yeah the throwback oh man,

10:24

some of the, When I went in there on Monday, I was like, I need this.

10:30

And they're like, really? And I'm like, I need that shirt. I'm going to need that shirt.

10:34

The sweatshirt I wore, I was like, Brandon, I'm going to need this. I'll come back for it.

10:42

That's how it is. With me, it's just like, I have a problem.

10:46

I'm always on the websites looking at all of, like for every team,

10:50

right? I always go look at the hats, the hats and see what they have.

10:54

And then of course, I'm literally right now, Now, as we're talking,

10:56

I'm looking at the hats that you guys have, the sons, the new ones that you guys camo one.

11:02

I love a good camo. I don't have that many camo ones.

11:06

Really? No, I mean, but I'm, I'm down here in the South. I'm a little country

11:10

girl. So I love a good cam. No, I, uh, I'm trying to think of some good ones. I love the red trucker hat.

11:18

It has kind of like a bigger logo. I love the trucker hat.

11:22

I just love a good, a good hat. like you know like a good red one a good white

11:27

one you know the vice ones that you guys have the ones i have that one miami

11:32

vice yeah i got hot pink converses so i can wear on miami vice night,

11:38

that's well that's good that's good pairing right

11:40

there that one you guys have the again

11:44

actually i literally have a bunch of like you got the the the

11:47

mets one the with the j on it oh

11:51

that's a beautiful one like i said see i see

11:54

what's the new one i think it's the seabirds is it the seabird oh

11:57

i want one so bad yeah the new era 920 seabirds oh that's beautiful it has the

12:03

j and the b on it put the bird on the side yeah girl i'm looking at it right

12:08

now i'm literally really nice i can't complain oh see i want that one,

12:15

See, I'm about to. See, sorry. You're going to get me in trouble with my wife.

12:19

That's what it is. I'm about to spend some money. So me with Ian.

12:24

Oh God. I literally have two full tubs full of hats.

12:29

Like I used to have them all up on the wall before we moved.

12:31

I was going to say you need a whole wall. Girl, I had a whole office full of walls.

12:37

Full of, like the whole wall, all of them, all of them. We're all full.

12:40

And we moved into this new house and my office is literally,

12:44

you open the door and it's my office.

12:47

So we compromised and then I put them in the tub. So there's that.

12:52

That's how marriage works. Yeah, exactly. We had to compromise and it landed here.

12:57

Exactly. Happy wife is a happy life. So there's that. I can't explain.

13:02

All right. Are you ready? Yeah. Okay. Here we go. All right. So I'm going to do an easy one first.

13:07

Okay. You go to your ballpark, but you're going as a fan. Okay.

13:09

Okay, you're not going to work, okay? What is your food and your drink of choice?

13:16

Alcohol or non-alcoholic. Whatever you want. Listen, I'm a fan of beer.

13:22

I got to get me a beer before when I go in there.

13:25

So I actually have went a few times as a fan, and I've never made it out to

13:29

the Tiki Terrace. Oh, I did. It was beautiful.

13:32

You know, they have the little shrimp cup drinks, and I always wanted to try one, and I never did.

13:37

So I kicked myself. So I'm going to have to go and try out one of the tiki tear

13:42

strength, but we have a lemonade stand and they make fresh lemonade and the strawberry lemonade.

13:49

Perfect ballpark food. I love a good hot dog, but I love a good cheeseburger.

13:53

So, but they have the Duval heavy hitter.

13:57

So it's a helmet and it has cheese fries, chicken tenders. It's just like a big cheesy mess.

14:05

And I love it. I got to try that when I go back.

14:08

Duval heavy hitter. That sounds delicious.

14:12

On a hot dog, ketchup and mustard or mustard only.

14:15

What's your, what's your condiment of choice? so i

14:18

have both chili cheese hot dog like fat

14:22

kid status over here but i love a good yeah

14:26

i know absolutely our slaw i love it it's gotta be good slaw though you can't

14:30

give me some bad slaw if it's a good slaw i can hit up a slaw dog yeah but it

14:34

can also be too runny because if it's runny you know what i mean it makes it

14:39

a little soggy you can't do it i'm a foodie i'm a Oh.

14:44

I am all about food, especially when you go to a ballpark, you got to try something

14:49

different. Oh girl. Yes. I know. I can't wait to, I always tell David every year, I'm like,

14:54

when you're going to do like the new menu, try like, you know,

14:57

the front office staff gets to try the new menu. Can I come?

15:00

Yeah. Like, I want to be part of this.

15:02

Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah, absolutely. That sounds amazing.

15:06

I was like, what are we doing? Like, we're just trying food today. I'm like, perfect. Sign me up for that. Yeah. Anytime there's food, sign me up.

15:13

Exactly. All right. What is it that you do when you're bored?

15:16

Obviously, you're never bored. But like if you were to find yourself during

15:19

that time, what's the one thing you like to do when you're bored?

15:22

Nap. Oh, nap is so under, underappreciated nowadays. Like people don't do that

15:28

when the nap doesn't want you though. When you're like, I got a good two hours and I can just take a little good nap

15:35

and the nap doesn't want you. And you're like, is this a sign that I should like actually be improductive?

15:41

So I don't get many of that.

15:44

Sometimes when Lily naps, I try to nap, but I mean, if I can nap, I will nap today.

15:49

I don't get a nap. So it's like, but if I can nap, sign me up.

15:55

Do you believe in power naps? Like a good 20 minute power nap.

15:59

So I had a, I had an ex-boyfriend back in the day. He was a strengthening conditioning coach for the Jack.

16:04

And he said, you it's either 20 minute or two hour, nothing in between.

16:07

And I wholeheartedly believe that that because it's like, or wholeheartedly, I don't know,

16:12

wholeheartedly, I believe that because if you get not like good 45 minute nap,

16:27

you're in that deep sleep room and then you just can't get out of it.

16:31

So I will set my alarm for 20 minutes and not even like, I won't even like sleep,

16:36

sleep, sleep, but I'll get back up and I'll be like, all right,

16:38

I'm good to go. Here we go. So yeah, 20 minutes or two hours, nothing in between. That's,

16:43

that's my thing right there. 20 minutes. That is right there for me.

16:46

That's the perfect time for me to just boom, done. Let's go.

16:48

All right. I'm ready to go. Oh yeah. I love it. Have you ever re-gifted a gift?

16:54

Yeah. Who hasn't? Yeah. Sometimes it's the teacher gifts. You get a lot of candles. candles.

17:01

I thought of you when I saw this candle. Yeah, no, I love my candles.

17:06

I actually, I think I got three for Christmas and I, the power went out the

17:11

other day and I had all three on, but it came in handy.

17:15

There you go. Absolutely. You got to always have some candles available.

17:18

All right. And you, I obviously you've never seen any Disney movies, right?

17:22

Cause you know, we never seen Disney movies in our home. Right? Exactly.

17:27

We literally just watched one last night. What disney princess would make the best spy.

17:37

That one's hard because i love so we're currently in bell uh we have watched

17:43

me and the beast a thousand times i can quote the whole movie at this point

17:47

i want to say bell because she can see the best in people but then you got frozen

17:52

because you know she can frozen she can freeze She's hard,

17:55

you know, cold hearted people. Cold hearted.

17:59

She can breathe them. Moana, because she's determined.

18:03

So, I mean, every one of us has got a little bit of something,

18:07

you know? You're right about that. So that one's hard. A little bit of everybody, I guess. All right.

18:13

I like it. All right. Favorite TV show growing up?

18:17

Oh, I'm a sucker for like a throwback. Happy Days, Dukes of Hazzard.

18:25

Oh, I love the good ones. The Jeffersons, Gilligan's Island.

18:31

Like, I'm an old soul. So like those, I used to have Dukes of Hazzard seasons on VHS and DVD.

18:40

Wow, people don't know what a VHS is or a DVD is nowadays.

18:43

A day so we gotta be oh they don't know the struggle of having to

18:46

rewind oh my god i'll say hold

18:49

on a second i gotta rewind it a couple oh i went too far yep i

18:53

get it okay if you

18:56

could be any fictional character which character

18:59

would you be like disney

19:03

or not you pick it's your this is your question uh

19:07

like uh so right now we're hooked on bell and i feel like bell was is always

19:12

my favorite character because she always wore a yellow dress my favorite color

19:15

is yellow okay and i think i resonate with her the best because she saw the beauty you know in the.

19:25

In the beast and it's like i kind of that's how i want to portray myself is

19:30

to see the beauty in everyone like always see the the give them the benefit

19:34

of the doubt see their kind heart and i I feel like that's why I went into special

19:37

needs because actually my niece is actually here.

19:42

She has autism and, you know, growing up, we would never expose the autism.

19:47

So you don't really know much. And she wasn't speaking at the time.

19:50

So I taught her sign language and started getting that communication gap and whatnot.

19:54

And so like, it's just really diving deep and seeing that beauty,

19:57

no matter what, seeing her come to life and having her light because she was being understood.

20:04

And that's why I became a special needs teacher because a lot of these kiddos are.

20:11

Not misread, but not understood because people are not wanting that,

20:16

not wanting to understand them, not going the extra mile.

20:20

Yeah. And so for me and my sister is a special needs teacher as well.

20:25

Now it's one of those is we want them to be understood.

20:27

We want them to be heard and we want to bring light to the world's special needs.

20:33

And so our biggest thing is we don't need them to fit into our world.

20:38

World we need to understand and fit in

20:41

their worlds like we need to be a part of their world and

20:44

i think that's what bell did as well

20:47

she understood that beast had a heart she didn't

20:50

see this you know beast she saw

20:53

that there was someone genuine and i think that resonates with

20:56

me because i want to see the best in everybody as well i love

20:59

it that's a great answer that's a great answer good job

21:02

good yeah all right i didn't even rehearse that like that's good i mean because

21:10

you got to be on right once you once the camera's on you you got to be on oh

21:13

no i have my moments don't worry you have your camera's always watching i will say,

21:20

the camera they have a jumbo shrimp they have a blooper jordan's blooper file.

21:25

Because they know the camera's always on

21:27

and they're they're gonna snip it and they're gonna gonna save it

21:30

in that bloopers for later so i like it

21:33

and then just release it on social media that'd be awesome yeah that's what

21:36
