At times I forgot I wasn't listening to a cli-fi audiobook, especially nearer the end. Visions of a new wheatbelt along the US-Canada border, a verdant and temperate Vermont, a sprawling Seattle megalopolis reaching up to Vancouver. But, it's not cli-fi. It's a journalist who works on extensive data modelling extrapolating out data, and talking about imminent reality. This is what we've asked for from the media for decades, an eyes-open engagement with the science of climate change and it's impacts on real people. Evocative language, explaining the human experience of current and imminent disruption. Everyone should hear this, and thanks to the NYT Magazine for doing it.
