John Mbugua returns to The Damage Done Podcast, for a new interview for our Youtube audience. Most of you know John's story from our second episode "From The Graveyard To Glory", which is available on audio only formats!

John's story starts with surviving the ethnic cleansing of his tribe in Africa as a young boy. After seeing his family slaughtered in front of him, his father sacrificing, his life so he could escape, he marched for 6 straight months through Africa, finally making it to a refugee camp.

His nightmare and tale of survival does not end there. In his own words, it only got worse from that point forward.

John ended up surviving the horrors of the refugee camp, came to America to live with a foster family who abused him so badly, he then ran away and ended up homeless on the streets of Los Angeles, Skid Row, to be exact, during the height of the crack epidemic in the 1980's.

After dying 3 times, being heavily addicted to crack and PCP, John got sober. Today he is approaching 24 years of sobriety, now works as a Drug and Alcohol counselor and has founded a fantastic non-profit organization helping other addicts and homeless on Skid Row, called A Lamb In The Bush. This organization is named after his late sister Grace.

This is a story you won't want to miss.
