You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show

0:03

on Fox Sports Radio. We

0:05

spent a lot of time yesterday talking about

0:07

the Jags, Urban Meyer, Trevor Lawrence,

0:09

Gardner, Minshew, and Urban

0:12

made an official He named Trevor Lawrence

0:14

as he's starter. The Broncos are gonna go

0:16

with Teddy Bridgewater. The Bears

0:18

are going to start Andy Dalton. The Saints

0:21

haven't officially made a decision yet, but

0:23

that should be forthcoming. And then

0:25

there's Mac Jones in New England.

0:27

I guess you can throw in Trey Lance. But

0:30

listen to Jimmy Garoppolo being asked

0:32

about basically who's starting

0:35

at quarterback for the forty nine ers, Kyl

0:37

said he had a pretty good idea. We dude, to start a quarterback

0:40

for a week one? Do you have a pretty good idea? Oh?

0:42

Yeah, I have a pretty good idea. He

0:45

was smiling about it. One must mean supping,

0:47

right, that's whatever he decides.

0:49

Yeah,

0:50

I have

0:52

a pretty good idea. I'm pretty happy with where

0:54

I'm at right now and everything and just the offense

0:56

as a whole. Yeah, Kyle's the

0:58

head man who at a call. Yeah, the call has

1:01

already been made. It's Jimmy Garoppolo. If

1:03

he was crying when he was there

1:05

asking when he was asked the question, then we'd

1:07

go he's probably gonna be Trey Lance. But big

1:09

smile on his face and he realizes he

1:12

is the future now, but

1:14

he's not going to be the future after this season.

1:17

They traded a lot to get Trey Lance. It's

1:19

not like you go, you know, on second thought,

1:22

we're gonna keep Jimmy g Jimmy

1:24

Garoppolo is a good quarterback for

1:26

the forty nine Ers. Is he a

1:28

great quarterback in today's NFL? No,

1:31

he's not. I know he wins games.

1:33

Well, he's quarterbacking the Patriots

1:35

and he's quarterbacking the forty nine Ers. Those

1:38

are really good teams. I don't

1:40

know if we put him on Jacksonville

1:42

or the Texans, we would go, Yeah, he

1:44

just wins games. Jimmy Garoppolo

1:47

learned at the feet of Tom Brady.

1:50

He's not gonna beat you with anything that's amazing,

1:52

but it's more of a steady drip. That's

1:55

the water torture that he would provide

1:57

Trey Lance. That's the guillotine where

2:00

he can all of a sudden go I'm gonna throw it

2:02

deep or I can beat you with my legs. We

2:05

have wishful reporting. I talk about

2:07

this a lot in this business. It's we

2:10

want to push something so we have something to

2:12

talk about. Andy Dalton was going

2:14

to start in week one Trevor

2:16

Lawrence with Gardner Minshew. I thought

2:19

urban Meyer would maybe go with Gardner Minshew,

2:22

just based on that offensive line with Trevor

2:24

Lawrence, the offensive philosophy

2:26

that you have in Jacksonville, and you bring

2:29

in Trevor Lawrence with a whole

2:31

lot of expectation there. I

2:33

said to you that Teddy Bridgewater was going to

2:35

get the start, told you that two weeks ago Drew

2:38

Locke. Drew Locke can give it and take

2:40

it the way. He's got a lot of potential,

2:42

he's got a big arm. But Teddy

2:45

Bridgewater is going to give you something

2:47

steady. That's all. It's just a safer

2:50

pick for the Broncos. And I do think

2:52

the Bronchos have a lot of talent the

2:54

wide receiving corps, which you might

2:57

not take advantage of with Teddy's arm

2:59

as opposed to Drew Locke. But this

3:01

is about let's just stay in games.

3:03

Let's not lose games. Here, Mac

3:06

Jones in New England is the interesting one.

3:09

Our good buddy, Tom Curran,

3:12

writing today he's NBC

3:14

Sports Boston. He says that basically

3:18

mac Jones should be the starter

3:21

for the New England Patriots when

3:23

quote, doing what's best for the football

3:26

team is the stated objective

3:28

of every decision. You can contort

3:31

yourself, so any choice is defensible

3:33

in the long term or short term. If

3:36

the standard to be satisfied

3:39

was the best players play, we

3:41

wouldn't have this discussion anymore. He

3:46

finishes his column, Tom Curran

3:48

saying on Wednesday, Mac Jones all

3:50

but rested his case. The time remaining

3:52

for Cam Newton's closing argument has

3:55

been frittered away. Further

3:57

questions question mark none

3:59

Here We'll talk to Chris

4:01

Simms about that, as mac Jones done

4:04

enough and with Cam Newton not

4:07

being able to practice for five days,

4:09

mac Jones getting all the reps with

4:11

the starters, and at least

4:13

according to Tom Kern, he's seen enough.

4:16

Mac Jones is your starter,

4:18

yes, Pauline. How much do you factor in

4:20

your chance to compete

4:23

for the Super Bowl with your starting quarterback

4:25

like the Patriots? Even a percentage

4:28

chance of a Super Bowl contender. Sure, yeah,

4:31

Okay, they got don't have a good defense,

4:34

it's a very good offensive line. They

4:36

have a lot of running backs. I don't

4:38

know about their skill position guys. They did

4:41

go out in the offseason and pick up a

4:43

couple of tight ends, but this

4:45

to me feels like a Belichick offense.

4:48

And I do think they can win with Cam Newton. It's

4:50

just can he stay healthy? And

4:52

do you know what you're getting week to week?

4:54

With Mac Jones? You know exactly what you're getting

4:58

absolutely, and it's he's

5:00

not one of those well he's not very athletic

5:02

like he's. It always feels like when you

5:04

talk about Mac Jones, he's not very boom

5:07

fill in the blank, but he is. He's

5:09

a lot of things that you want in a quarterback

5:12

by all accounts. Very decisive,

5:15

takes command, good arm, has

5:18

athleticism. But you feel

5:20

like whenever you hear his name, yeah, but he's

5:23

not very what he

5:26

is Tom Brady, I mean,

5:28

that's that's what you drafted. You're

5:31

not getting somebody who is going

5:33

to overwhelm you athletically. Cam

5:36

has that athleticism, not what he

5:39

had when he won the MVP, and

5:41

can you win with him, yes, but

5:44

Cam out with you know, COVID

5:46

protocol. You know, maybe

5:48

he did cost himself the chance to start this

5:50

year. Plus understand this, if you're

5:53

a Patriots fan, you're

5:55

the only team that reached out to Cam Newton when

5:57

nobody else wanted him. You brought him in. And

6:00

I thought that he did okay, he certainly

6:02

ran well, but you know, having

6:04

shoulder surgery, it's tricky. You don't have

6:06

good wide receivers first

6:09

year in the offense with Belichick, Patriot

6:11

fans are looking at Mac Jones saying, that's our

6:13

guy, Like, Cam's not your guy. Cam

6:16

was the guy to help you before you

6:19

got to the guy that you think is your

6:21

future. That's what's going on in New England

6:23

right now, and is Mac Jones

6:25

the starter. I'd be surprised

6:28

if Belichick goes with a rookie to start,

6:31

But if he's seen enough then

6:34

he said all along, it's Cam Newton. And

6:37

that's what I was curious about. When Tom Kerrn

6:39

is watching practice and Mac Jones

6:41

is carving everybody up that you go,

6:44

that's my guy. I'm going to start him now? Like is

6:46

that what it's going to come down to? Was it just

6:48

one of those moments where Belichick goes, I

6:52

can't I can't go with Cam. I gotta

6:54

go with the kid. And maybe

6:56

that is, but it was wishful

6:58

reporting. With the other quarterback

7:01

situations, Justin Fields

7:03

is going to eventually start, Trey Lance

7:06

will eventually start, Trevor

7:09

Lawrence is starting now, Zach Wilson

7:11

is starting now. There's nothing that's

7:13

changed. New England

7:16

could be changing right now. That's

7:18

the news. The other stuff that

7:20

was just window dressing. That was just let's

7:23

have some talking points here. We got

7:25

some time to fill what's going

7:27

on in New England. I think it's real, but

7:30

I'd still be surprised if Belichick goes with

7:32

Mac Jones. I have no intel. I have

7:34

no sources with New England. I don't know

7:36

anything. I'm not hearing sources

7:38

close to No, I don't have

7:40

any of that. I tell you when I have

7:43

a source, and I tell you when I don't have

7:45

a source. I don't have anything in New England.

7:48

But I do trust Tom Curran. But

7:50

I do think Tom Curran has not

7:53

exactly been a Cam Newton cheerleader,

7:55

and I think he's probably going Mac

7:58

is our guy. Yes,

8:00

McLevin. I've heard the comparison when

8:03

Balichick chose Tom Brady over drew Bledsoe

8:06

Brady early in his career, slow and steady,

8:08

not spectacular, Bledsoe, big, strong

8:10

armed. But that analogy doesn't

8:13

quite work, does it not in this situation.

8:16

I mean Bledsoe got injured, Yeah,

8:19

but then he could have gone back to him. He went back to him in the

8:21

title game. Yeah, and he chose Brady,

8:23

who wasn't Brady. Wasn't Brady early

8:25

right? He was more. Go back

8:27

to that Super Bowl when you

8:30

know, the great John Madden is saying, hey,

8:32

basically, with Brady inexperienced,

8:35

they're going to be playing for overtime in

8:38

that game against the Rams, and Brady

8:41

in a two minute drill is throwing passes

8:43

and you could almost hear John

8:46

Madden going I'm shocked,

8:48

I'm surprised, And then

8:51

Vinetarry kicks the field goal to win a Super Bowl.

8:54

In that moment, it was like, hey, just

8:56

don't screw things up, or at least that's what we thought

8:58

of with Tom Brady. I remember after that Super

9:00

Bowl I didn't

9:03

see enough greatness in Brady where I went,

9:05

is he really their future? Like

9:07

is he going to be great? And

9:09

I remember asking analysts who

9:12

joined us that Monday after the Super

9:14

Bowl because I didn't see

9:16

it, and then all of

9:18

a sudden it crystallized and you had analysts

9:21

saying, oh, no, no, no, he's going to be great.

9:24

Well, you gave Drew Bledsoew

9:26

one hundred million dollars. I

9:29

don't know when you saw it with Brady,

9:31

but you probably didn't see it

9:34

sooner. Where you're offering Bled If

9:36

Bledsoew doesn't get injured, what

9:39

happens in this situation? I

9:42

gets It's crazy. How if Trent

9:44

Green doesn't get hurt, the

9:47

Kurt Warner's story may never happen.

9:51

Right. If Peyton Manning doesn't

9:53

injure his neck, then

9:55

where does Andrew luck Goo? Is he still

9:57

playing? Now? Does Peyton get

9:59

another? They're super Bowl? Like? It's

10:02

crazy how this stuff happens. Yes?

10:06

Do you think Drew Bledsoe and Trent Green could

10:08

have gone on to win Super Bowls with those

10:10

teams around them?

10:13

Probably? So? I mean,

10:15

I mean Drew Bledsoe was a really good quarterback

10:18

and and Trent Green was

10:21

good enough to be starting over

10:23

Kurt Warner. Trent Green

10:25

was a very capable.

10:28

Doesn't sound like a compliment, but Trent

10:31

Green could lead your team to

10:33

the super Bowl, and he

10:35

did have a moment where he was very

10:37

impressive. Yes, I

10:39

went back to two thousand and one after Bledsoe got

10:41

hurt in Game two and Brady took

10:43

over. His first two games. Brady his first

10:46

three games, he had no touchdown passes.

10:48

He didn't play poorly, he just didn't score.

10:50

He had no interceptions. His fourth

10:53

game as a starter was against Indianapolis.

10:55

Indianapolis, he beat Peyton Manning

10:57

thirty eight seventeen with three touchdowns, no picks,

11:00

and outdueled Manning. And you could see

11:02

the articles nationally and locally,

11:04

maybe the Patriots have found something. But the first

11:06

four weeks it was like mixed reviews.

11:09

Yeah soon, and that trend would

11:11

continue itself over the next twenty years, which

11:14

was just wonderful to watch. Never stop. There are

11:17

so many analysts who cover the

11:19

NFL, and there are so many of

11:21

us that don't know anything.

11:23

Remember when Lamar Jackson was coming

11:26

out, right, there

11:28

was a curiosity and that you would

11:30

hear accuracy issues. Okay,

11:32

we didn't focus on what he did well, we

11:35

focused on what he didn't do well, and

11:37

it drives me crazy, especially with

11:39

basketball players. Steph Curry,

11:42

Yeah slight. He can't play

11:44

point okay, can he shoot?

11:47

Yeah, he can shoot.

11:49

Steve Nash, that guy he

11:52

can't start. Oh, they're gonna domit.

11:54

He can't guard anybody?

11:55

Can he pass? Patrick

11:59

Mahomes I look

12:01

at the look at the profile here, didn't

12:04

win a lot of games. You know. Yeah,

12:06

he takes chances. Project.

12:10

You would hear he's a project. Okay.

12:15

That's why when it comes to this, we

12:18

don't know mac Jones

12:20

man, he only played one year system

12:23

quarterback here. That guy

12:25

not athletic, didn't have a big arm like

12:28

we okay, like we

12:31

talk ourselves into things and out

12:33

of things here. Yes, I just remember

12:35

a dad Bob mac Jones. That was that

12:37

was the headline. Yeah,

12:40

Like Zack Wilson threw a role

12:42

left throwback right fifty yard or in

12:45

you know, his pro day and we went, oh my

12:47

god, he's the next Patrick Mahomes Is

12:50

he? I don't know, Yeah,

12:53

Polly, I just went back to Brady's

12:56

first playoffs. You were talking about how you weren't sure

12:58

after the first playoffs, which they want a super Bowl, by

13:00

the way, his first three playoff games, he

13:02

had one touchdown passing three games, he

13:04

had one pick. His stats were, you

13:06

know, not that great, They're average. That's

13:09

why you know when somebody gives you that stamp

13:12

of approval, Okay,

13:14

when do you give that? And I go

13:17

back to Josh Allen, he's never

13:19

won. I give you

13:21

go back to high school. He got very

13:24

very few scholarship offers. He went to

13:26

a junior college. He wasn't great.

13:28

He went to Wyoming. I don't

13:30

even know if he was first team All

13:33

conference when he was at Wyoming

13:35

Mountain West. I think he was second team

13:38

All Mountain West. And

13:41

that's why I had been told the Browns

13:43

were interested in Josh Allen. But that was his smoke

13:45

screen. They were drafting Baker Mayfield, which they

13:47

did. Buffalo gets Josh Allen. And

13:50

I remember watching Josh Allen his rookie year

13:52

and I said, he doesn't know how to play the position

13:54

right now, and he didn't and

13:56

even the next year, last

13:58

year, I thought he should have been MVP.

14:01

Like if you look at value to your

14:04

team, Aaron Rodgers was unbelievable.

14:07

Josh Allen was a difference maker

14:09

for a team that another quarterback in there

14:11

would not have led them as far as he did,

14:13

just in my opinion. That's

14:16

why when it comes to Josh Allen, you got a big

14:18

arm here, Okay, they all

14:20

have big arms. It's

14:23

hard to play the position if you go you know, he's got

14:25

a small arm. That dude, he's

14:27

got a noodle for an arm. Like most of these

14:29

guys, good size, some athleticism,

14:32

got a great arm, Okay, And

14:34

that's why when it comes to trying to handicap

14:37

this, it's really difficult.

14:40

Trey Lance has played one football game

14:42

in twenty months. I don't

14:44

know if he can play the position. Do I

14:46

like the kid? Does he have a lot of talent?

14:49

Yes, Easton Stick had

14:51

a lot of talent at North Dakota State.

14:56

That's why when it comes to trying to handicap

14:58

this, good luck. That's

15:01

why you have so many bust at that position

15:03

in the NFL, because it's

15:06

hard to quantify what is going to make

15:08

you great. Everybody passed

15:11

on Tom Brady a couple of times. People

15:13

passed on Russell Wilson a couple

15:15

of times. It's a

15:17

great unknown. It's what's fascinating

15:19

about that position. Be

15:22

sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick

15:24

Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six

15:26

am Pacific on Fox Sports

15:29

Radio in the iHeart Radio a app. Well,

15:32

let me start there with Chris Simms. Chris,

15:34

whose career would you rather have, Ryan

15:36

Fitzpatrick's or Jay Cutler. Well,

15:40

man, that's a tough one. I mean,

15:42

you know, I guess I come and let me just go

15:45

through this with my thought a little bit. You know,

15:47

Cutler had certainly more

15:49

high end talent and did bring a team

15:51

to an NFC championship game,

15:54

There's no doubt about that. But I guess I'd also

15:56

look at it and go, Damn, I'm better than what my career

15:58

ended up really being. I should have had

16:00

more success. So

16:03

I think, you know, I don't know. I'm I'm

16:05

gonna go. I'm gonna go with Ryan Fitzpatrick.

16:08

I am, I'm gonna It's a close one there, but I'll go with Fitzpatrick.

16:11

You know, I just give him a lot of credit for the fact

16:13

that he's hung around, you know, and really

16:15

beat the doubters, and he's had some good moments

16:17

and played some of his best football here at the end of

16:19

his career. I would say Ryan

16:22

Fitzpatrick because he's an underdog,

16:24

whereas right, Cutler we look

16:26

at and we go and I remember you

16:28

loved Cutler coming out of college, like

16:31

right, and you liked him more than any of those

16:33

quarterbacks, I believe, right, Yeah,

16:35

remember that. That was one of my first proclamations.

16:37

I think. What was that when I was like a

16:40

weekly guest and I was down there in Tampa, right,

16:42

and you were like, so who do you take Matt

16:44

Leinard or Vince Young? And I was like, neither,

16:46

you take Jay Cutler? Right? So

16:49

I do. I remember that very clearly,

16:51

and I took some heat from some of my Texas

16:53

friends that day when I said that Cutler

16:56

feels like an underachiever where

16:58

Ryan Fitzpatrick feels like an overachiever.

17:01

Agreed, Agreed, I'm with you there all

17:03

the way? All right? Has mac Jones

17:05

earned the starting job in New England? Tom

17:08

Curran was gushing about

17:10

this that Cam's been out, Mac

17:12

Jones has been in and has looked

17:14

very impressive. Knowing Bill Belichick

17:17

having spent some time there, could

17:19

you imagine Belichick going with a rookie

17:21

quarterback to start week one? I

17:23

mean, I think before training camp I would

17:26

have aired a no to that, But like,

17:28

I think Mac Jones has impressed so much

17:30

and been so good through training camp,

17:33

everything he does on and off the field that

17:36

I do, and the fact that they kind of

17:38

praise them, you know, praise him

17:40

as well. I don't

17:43

think they're scared. I don't. I think in the perfect

17:45

world they'd probably rather go with Cam

17:47

Newton. But I mean, I still can't believe what

17:49

Cam Newton did. I don't know other

17:52

way to say it. I'm shocked. I mean, his career

17:54

is hanging in the balance, and

17:56

to make a mistake like that and do

17:59

that, it's just unforgivable. And as

18:01

you know, and anybody knows, it's the Patriots,

18:03

they're like psycho detailed. Then now you

18:05

got a guy where he's not vaccinated and

18:08

you're not sure if you can trust them. And then he got

18:10

this other guy who's like a robot and kind

18:12

of like Tom Brady ish, and he

18:14

continues just to get better and better and been very

18:16

impressive in the preseason. So yeah,

18:19

I think there's a chance. And if he balls out this

18:21

weekend, Dan and I don't know if Cam will

18:23

play or not this weekend now, but

18:25

if Mac goes out there and plays phenomenal.

18:27

I would not be shocked if they just pulled the trigger

18:29

and started the Mac Jones era. I

18:32

know that. To your co host, Mike

18:34

Florio brought this up about the Jags that maybe

18:36

they were waiting to name the starting quarterback

18:38

because maybe everbend Meyer wanted to go with Gardner

18:40

Minshew, because maybe he didn't like what he saw

18:42

with that offensive line for Trevor Lawrence.

18:45

He has since named Trevor Lawrence. I

18:48

follow Florio's philosophy here.

18:50

I don't want to put Trevor Lawrence

18:53

out there and have him become another Andrew

18:55

Luck. I want to make sure that there is

18:57

that I'm going to protect him. He might not make

19:00

good decisions. I want him protected

19:02

at all cost. And that's what

19:04

would be my big concern. Yeah,

19:06

your thoughts on Trevor Lawrence getting to start. Oh

19:08

yeah, yeah, I'm with you there. I mean that that

19:11

is a concern. It's something that we talked about a lot

19:13

on Monday. You know. I brought out up with Florio

19:15

and I was like, listen, I don't think it's a real competition

19:18

here, Like Trevor is way

19:20

better than Gardner Minshew. I mean, maybe

19:22

doesn't have quite the experience yet in those things,

19:24

but the talent is that's not comparable.

19:27

But you know so I thought like maybe

19:29

that's and he listened to the Monday Night

19:31

crew, right they were kind of saying

19:33

some things like that, and I thought, oh, okay,

19:35

so this is more about getting the team in the

19:37

right place. It really has nothing to do with a true

19:39

competition, I think

19:42

really ultimately, Urban Meyer, Hey, I

19:44

know he's adjusting to life in the NFL and all

19:46

those things, but damn he's still

19:48

really smart understands football,

19:51

and I think he'll play a certain way to

19:53

protect Trevor Lawrence. You know, I said today on the

19:55

show today the phrase I used, you said, Andrew

19:58

Luck. I said, don't Joe Burrow Trevor

20:00

Lawrence, don't do that. Don't have him

20:02

drop back forty five times a game

20:05

at all. We gotta win, even

20:07

though we know we're not gonna be in the playoffs. We gotta

20:09

go for five and eleven, Like, who

20:11

the hell cares if you're five and eleven or three

20:13

and thirteen, right, like save

20:16

the franchise. And they didn't do that in

20:18

Cincinnati. And you know I heard the other

20:20

night too, urban Meyer talked to Joe Burrow in the

20:22

off season, so that's in his mind, and

20:24

I think he'll do the right thing here and realize

20:26

the big picture and not fall into the trap

20:29

of, oh, we're losing. I just

20:31

gotta let Trevor loose and let him try

20:33

to carry the team. I don't think. I think he's too

20:35

smart to see the big picture. There has John

20:37

Elway whipped on another quarterback. I

20:40

don't know if he's whipped. I'm not gonna say

20:42

that yet. About Drew Locke, there's some things I

20:45

like. He played better towards the end of last

20:47

year. I think, you know, when you take a few

20:49

things into account here, Vic fangio he's

20:52

a defensive head coach. They usually aeron

20:54

let's go with the safer quarterback. Let's

20:57

go with the quarterback that's not gonna mess it up for my

20:59

defense. George Peyton the GM,

21:01

he came from Minnesota, he was there

21:03

when they drafted Teddy. And I

21:05

think, ultimately, you know, Drew

21:08

Locke, I think scarred Vic fangioe a

21:10

little bit last year with some of the bad decisions,

21:12

reckless throws things like that, to where

21:15

Teddy is the safe bet. You know, I

21:17

don't know if Teddy can maximize the talent

21:19

of the offense quite the way Drew Locke

21:22

ken, but I think, you know,

21:24

I understand his logic here with going

21:26

with the proven veteran who knows how

21:28

to protect the football and is not going to

21:30

mess things up early on in the year and kind of get

21:32

them behind the eight ball. If that doesn't go

21:35

well, then you bring the flamethrower,

21:37

you know, off the bench and go, Okay, we need

21:39

you, We need you to make some plays and do those

21:41

type of things. And Locke has looked very good in the preseason.

21:45

It feels like every year we get

21:47

mixed opinions on preseason, like don't

21:49

read too much into preseason, and

21:51

then we ultimately read too much

21:54

into preseason. How

21:56

important is like a preseason game

21:58

to a regular season game. How

22:01

different is it at the quarterbacking

22:04

position. Sure, it's a lot different.

22:06

I think the biggest thing it's just more there. It's

22:08

just it's elementary for

22:11

I think some of the start, you know, you're not going to unveil

22:13

some of your best plays. There's really

22:15

no game planning like, hey, this team

22:17

does this, so we're gonna attack them like that. You're kind of

22:19

just like, hey, we got to go out here and work on what

22:21

we gotta work on and do that, and

22:24

you don't want to show too much for their you know,

22:26

and have team to be ready in the regular season.

22:28

The defenses of the same way. You

22:30

know, you don't get to see a lot of exotic

22:33

variety type defenses in the preseason

22:36

and then it slowly starts to progress where you're

22:38

gonna see a little bit more of that this

22:40

weekend. So yeah, you're right, you don't read

22:42

too much into it, but there's certainly some

22:44

things that you can take from preseason

22:46

to go, oh, that team, Like

22:48

let's say the Miami Dolphins, Right,

22:50

I'll just use them as an example. What

22:53

are they two and oh in the preseason. I don't really

22:55

care what their record is. I just look at them

22:57

and go, man, the way that team looks

23:00

like it. They got depth on the front

23:02

line, they got depth in the front seven, they

23:04

got speed at the right positions. Two was

23:06

improved. So that gives me the inkling

23:08

at least to say like, hey, I'm not gonna say

23:10

they're going to the playoffs, but they're going to be right

23:13

in the thick of things, and you know, are

23:15

going in the right direction. He's Chris

23:17

Simms, Pro Football Talk co host. Former

23:19

NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford

23:21

says, Hey, I want to play in big games, and

23:23

I don't want to be playing at one o'clock on a

23:26

Sunday. Well, how much

23:28

of that is on Matthew Stafford? That

23:30

like, he didn't win a playoff game. We

23:34

look at the quarterback, and you

23:36

know, you're supposed to elevate your team. I

23:39

know he didn't elevate his team. Well,

23:41

let's see, I'll disagree a little bit there.

23:43

I mean the fact that they were even in the playoffs at

23:45

some of those years, they were only there because of

23:47

Matt Stafford. You know. And again

23:49

I think we've talked about this before. Let's not forget

23:52

horrible call in the Dallas playoff game

23:55

right with the pass interference late

23:57

or whatever the damn penalty is that they called.

23:59

There can't remember these specifics. They

24:01

were kind of in the league. That was a controversial

24:03

call. You know. The other year they

24:05

went to what Seattle in a wildcard game

24:07

one year and playing the playoffs there, receivers

24:10

dropped the ball. I mean, go back and watch

24:12

it. So the team has failed him to a degree

24:14

and a lot of these years Dan where I'll always

24:16

argue to defend where they were maybe seven

24:18

and nine or six and ten. I wanted to

24:20

go like they

24:22

would be two and fourteen if it wasn't for

24:25

Matthew Stafford. No thousand yard

24:27

rusher since what two and twelve?

24:29

You know, no offensive line, no

24:32

namesake defensive guy. You can come up

24:34

within the Matthew Stafford ever, other than Sue

24:36

early on in his career to go,

24:38

oh wait, they did have one good defensive

24:40

guy his whole era there. Oh wait, they did have

24:43

Calvin Johnson. Okay, they've had three

24:45

people in like ten years. What would

24:47

he do? What is he supposed to do with that? So I'm a defender

24:49

of him, But I know I'm

24:51

gonna be watching this year too, because it's gonna be

24:53

a big year. He's got at least some talent in the system

24:56

around him here that he should

24:58

be able to maybe shut some the haters

25:00

up. Well, I was on the bandwagon

25:02

probably before anybody's saying if you're looking

25:04

for an MVP candidate, this is this is

25:07

the guy. And but I

25:09

wonder about that, You know, you lose cam

25:11

Akers is Sony Michelle an upgrade.

25:14

No, absolutely not. He is not,

25:16

Sony Michelle. I mean I listen that that

25:18

was. It's a risky trade and in my

25:21

opinion to a degree. You know, first

25:23

off, he's a first round pick in New England's trade

25:25

in him away, right, there's something they don't they

25:27

don't like, right, and you know,

25:29

anything, you know Rams pick up nikkil

25:32

Harry, then I'm gonna worry about that way,

25:34

Yeah, exactly right. But they're

25:36

desperate, you know, because you know, like you're saying,

25:38

you know, it's their run game is important to their

25:40

success. That's how that that's really what you

25:42

know. Their offense is based around that,

25:45

and then the bootlegs and the play actions and the

25:47

speed sweeps all come off of that. So

25:49

they they I think, you know, the one thing I always

25:51

give the Rams credit for it. They push the chips

25:54

in the middle of the pile every year and go, we're going

25:56

for it. We're trying to win the Super Bowl. We don't care. We're

25:58

not going to Eton or Eton nine

26:00

or with nine and eight or anything like that. We

26:02

are going for it. So but

26:05

Sony Michelle, I mean, knee issues.

26:07

Anybody I talked to in the NFL thinks

26:09

it's not going away. There's a real issue there.

26:12

But I would expect them to sign another running

26:14

back or two here when cuts are made, you

26:17

know, to bolster that group all together. If

26:20

Belichick is calling you and he wants to trade

26:22

you somebody, yeah right,

26:24

you better be like what we need to do extra

26:27

homework than normal, because

26:29

I will say this, Belichick is really good

26:31

at getting rid of players a year

26:34

early than a year less. He may

26:36

not be great at drafting players,

26:38

certainly in the first round and skill position players.

26:40

But you know when it's hey, I got Richard

26:43

Seymour, You interested, Uh, Hey, I

26:45

got Jamie Collins, you and I got Lawyer

26:47

Malloy, You interested like you go? Yeah,

26:49

those are big names. And then all of a sudden,

26:52

Hey, anybody who said in Malcolm Butler?

26:55

Yes, yeah, thing who was the

26:58

Logan Mankins? Remember that? Yeah? Tom,

27:00

Tom's mad. His offensive lineman got traded

27:02

to Tampa And all of a sudden, yeah

27:05

we never heard of right, Yeah,

27:07

No, I know. Bill's got a great feel of

27:09

getting that. You know, Oh, it's coming

27:11

to the end. Maybe he's got one more year,

27:14

but it's it's about over. And

27:16

yeah, he's a step ahead of the game that way, and

27:19

that's some of the toughest things to do as a head

27:21

coach because you know, yeah, it's to

27:23

say what you want. These coaches do like their

27:25

players. There is a personal aspect, but

27:28

the his ability to cut the cord a year

27:30

early has of course made

27:32

them really really damn good for

27:34

a long time because of that. So, uh yeah,

27:36

I would be weary of of of Sony Michelle,

27:39

and I'll certainly be watching more likely

27:41

to disappoint. Yeah, Cowboys,

27:45

Browns. I'm

27:48

gonna go Cowboys. I gotta see it to believe

27:50

it. With the Cowboys. First, the Browns last

27:52

year just kept going like this, and

27:54

then this year they just made their roster just

27:57

keep going like this. And it's

27:59

year two in the same system for Baker

28:01

Mainfield and you know,

28:03

everything you hear Odell Beckham

28:06

junior looking really damn good. I mean,

28:08

on paper, the Browns roster is as impressive

28:10

as anybody in football. So I

28:12

think between that, you know, Stefanski

28:15

and Baker have created a little culture there.

28:17

They're pretty damn good on both sides of the

28:19

on the both sides of the ball. And

28:22

Dallas, I just want to go one. I'm

28:24

not sure. Dak is totally

28:26

himself and he hasn't played and

28:28

now he's gonna go to Tampa Week one, and just what carry

28:31

the team? I don't I'm not sold they're gonna

28:33

be able to run the ball. I gotta see Ezekiel Elliott,

28:35

you know, and everybody's talking about he's leaner

28:37

and quicker. I want to go. It

28:40

doesn't look good that his legs are half the size

28:42

of Dak Prescott and hub A hard knocks. I don't

28:44

know. I haven't seen running back to really be that successful

28:46

when their legs are half the size of the quarterback. So

28:49

I gotta see that. And then, of course the defense we know

28:51

was a disaster last year, so I'll

28:53

pick the Cowboys in that department. Oh

28:56

gosh, yeah, what,

28:59

No, it's just the it's

29:01

the Cowboys. I know, they get

29:03

more attention than it feels

29:05

like all of the other teams combined. I

29:08

agree, but no, but it's just because they're

29:10

America's team in that popular fan base,

29:12

right, it really is for the most

29:14

part. And Jerry's you know, amazing at keeping

29:17

them in the news and relevant

29:19

and doing things like that. But you're right, Yeah,

29:21

it's it's amazing they do. They get too much

29:23

attention. They got a few stars, but

29:25

yeah, they gotta they gotta have a team, and

29:27

you know that's where you know, you look at it, where the

29:30

team. I mean, yeah, you know there's some good

29:32

things, but everybody talks about the talent

29:34

Chris because it's the Cowboys. Like man,

29:37

those linebackers, Sean Lee,

29:39

Layton Vander and I'm going, where

29:42

are these guys? I know, Jalen

29:45

Smith, I mean, he's a backup. I know they

29:47

paid them all this Money's a backup. He's not even gonna start

29:49

on their team this year. I mean Randy Gregory

29:51

second round pick. Never, he's never done crap

29:54

for them. You know, they've had some interesting

29:56

moves and decisions. They've made Taco

29:59

Charlton right round pick a few years ago.

30:01

I mean, damn, he might not be in the league this year.

30:03

So they've swung and missed there too. That

30:05

I think really been a detriment

30:07

to the building of their football team.

30:10

Uh So, yeah, it is, They're they're overhyped.

30:12

It is. It's just Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper,

30:15

Ceedee Lamb and Ezekiel Elliott and

30:17

we'll see where it goes. From there, When do you make

30:19

your Super Bowl pick? Um? Probably

30:22

next week on my podcast. I gotta

30:24

start kind of formulating, you know,

30:26

playoff teams and doing that. How about

30:28

who are you not picking? Who

30:31

am I not picking? Like you

30:33

mean that of like true playoff? I mean first, I'm

30:35

not picking Chicago to go to the playoffs

30:37

or anything year in

30:40

Chicago? Yeah? Right that dude? Yeah,

30:42

I like that music. That's great. Um,

30:44

you know, I mean I don't

30:46

know who I'm not picking. That's

30:49

a Seattle I'm not sure

30:51

about. I gotta see Seattle a little bit,

30:53

you know, a little offseason drama, you

30:55

know, new offense, offensive

30:58

line. Hey, we'll see where that goes. The other thing I'll just

31:00

say too, is you know, let's the defense got better

31:02

last year, but underwhelming

31:05

secondary other than Quandre Diggs, nobody

31:08

up front that you're worried about, right, Geron

31:10

Read's gone. It's a lot of like young

31:12

guys where you're going, Oh, they got potential, but

31:14

is it gonna come through? So they'd

31:16

be a team that I look at. Yeah, I almost

31:19

a borderline like some

31:21

I have some thoughts to go. Man, Seattle I think

31:23

is on the playoff bubble in

31:25

that in that division, I think the Booty nine

31:28

Ers the Rams will be good. I wouldn't be

31:30

shocked to see them kind of fighting for their life this

31:32

year. Better team Chargers

31:34

Rams, who has more wins? The

31:38

thing that scares me so much about the

31:41

Rams is they're just so thin. It

31:43

is a twenty two man team, and

31:46

like two injuries, they could totally

31:48

be derailed there. M

31:52

Man, who am I gonna pay? I'm still gonna go with the Rams.

31:54

I'm gonna go with the proven commodity here in

31:56

McVeigh and Raheem Morris

31:58

being the defensive core naer with Matthew

32:01

Stafford as that Chargers team,

32:03

I mean, listen, they're a team that I'm certainly thinking about putting

32:05

in the playoffs. But it is a new

32:07

offensive coordinator. I still don't

32:09

know why they really let Shane Steiken go out the

32:11

door with the success they had, but justin Herbert

32:13

and him last year. But Joe Lombardi,

32:15

of course, we know he's pretty damn good under Sean

32:18

Payton. So I just I guess that

32:20

there's some things there I want to see. Can Derwin

32:22

James stay healthy? Can Joey Bosa stay

32:24

healthy? So that's why I'll Aaron the Rams

32:26

would certainly wouldn't be shocked at the Chargers were in the playoffs.

33:13

on the iHeart Radio app or

33:15

33:18

Sandler is working on a new movie

33:20

he is producing, starring in Hustle,

33:22

Netflix movie about a former basketball

33:24

recruiter tries to remake his career

33:27

by bringing backup player from overseas

33:29

to play in the NBA. Lebron James,

33:32

a co producer. Among the luminaries

33:34

in the movie Hustle, Queen Latifa,

33:37

Ben Foster, Love, Ben Foster,

33:39

Robert Duval, Bobby Kenny

33:42

Smith from TNT is in there, and

33:45

mclovin also has a role,

33:48

and Adam Sandler joins us from somewhere

33:50

in Philadelphia. Sanman, how are you today?

33:53

Hi, Danny? It's so funny. Robert

33:55

Duvall called me up and it is like

33:58

three in the morning. I

34:00

go, hey, Hey, what's going on? Bobby

34:02

I kid through the movie and Loves I said,

34:04

well, do you mean unless mclove

34:07

I mean, so

34:10

that's how that happened. Day, Danny,

34:13

I miss you. How are you? I'm good, I'm

34:16

good. Uh you got you

34:18

got a lot of NBA players in this movie.

34:21

Unbelievable. Yes, I just shot yesterday.

34:24

Did a scene with Doc Rivers and

34:26

uh and and and a bunch of the sixers

34:28

who were in there, Tobias Matisse,

34:32

uh, Seth Curry, Uh,

34:35

who else was there, Tyrese Maxie

34:37

just all nice, all nice guys. And

34:40

today I'm going to play I'm

34:42

going to do like this scene where there's a pickup

34:44

game and it's all these all

34:47

these and one guys are coming to play.

34:49

Not not NBA guys, but a bunch of one

34:51

guys are coming to the park to play. It's it's been

34:54

unbelievable for me and unfortunately

34:56

Danny the worst time you having my foothurts.

34:59

Every time I go the court, I go, I can't play and

35:01

all these great guys are playing. I can't even shoot.

35:04

You gotta stomp. You picked

35:06

up golf recently, so just I

35:08

did you can play golf for the rest of your life

35:11

like this day? Why don't you retire

35:13

as a basketball player after this movie? I

35:17

think I did? I think my foot did. My

35:19

foot told me I can't do it anymore. But but

35:21

I it's the only time I sweat. Oh

35:24

yeah, that's right. That is your only exercise,

35:27

you know what I mean? Yeah? That and and

35:30

holding myself up in the bedroom. But

35:32

that that that's only like a

35:38

you're not even a minute man. No,

35:41

no, no. Every time somebody says a minute man, I'm like, has

35:43

he doing? Who

35:46

has to get to the ya? How

35:49

do you come up with the idea that you're going to do a movie

35:51

about a basketball scout for the Sixers,

35:54

down on his luck, finds

35:56

this great player and is going

35:58

to bring him back to the NBA to somehow

36:01

reclaim his career life. By

36:04

the way, you're in the movie too, and so so the Danettes

36:07

and besides mclove and you're playing yourself. But

36:11

this was just total luck. Those guys brought

36:14

it to me. They brought it to me. It was written

36:16

originally but I find

36:18

a player in China,

36:21

and somehow Netflix

36:24

is nine in China, so they were like, would

36:27

would you guys please make it that we find somebody in

36:29

Latin America or Europe. So

36:32

next thing you know, I'm in my organ Wait

36:35

that's how that happened. Yeah,

36:37

yeah, yeah, it was originally a kind

36:39

of player in China. And by the way, you

36:42

know what, I saw the picture

36:44

where you're at the beach and you got your shirt

36:47

off and you're getting in the water there. That

36:49

was disgusting. Yeah,

36:52

I know. And I'm looking. I'm flipping through and

36:54

it's like Adam Sandler taking a dip,

36:56

and I'm going, what a humiliating

36:59

moment? Yeah? Nothing, nothing

37:01

grossy Because by the way, not

37:04

only was I swimming there

37:06

thinking I was happy and open once in

37:08

my life, going let me jump in the Mediterranean,

37:11

but then on top of that Joe

37:13

Betsy was swimming and he can't swim,

37:15

and I seriously was watching him. I was like, is

37:17

he about to die out there? That's the one they

37:19

got a picture. I'm standing there with a shirt off,

37:21

going my friends about to die. This is amazing.

37:23

You need to get a body double. By

37:29

the way, I saw one of the pictures,

37:31

I was like, it could have been a lot work. There's

37:33

nothing good. There's nothing good about it, but there's

37:35

nothing atrocious about

37:37

it. What is Lebron James doing

37:40

with the movie? I guess is he co

37:42

producing this? Yeah? It's

37:44

his company, him and Maverick. They

37:47

have a big movie company now. And they those

37:49

guys called me with the script, and Joe Roth

37:52

and uh and they all, uh, it

37:54

was great. It was a really cool script. I

37:56

play a scout. I get to play

37:59

kind of a guy who's been in the league a long

38:01

time and getting him pushed around and

38:04

not not really getting any traction, but

38:06

but loves it and he wants to coach One

38:08

day and Robert Duval owns

38:11

the team and I've been

38:13

scouting for years and Duval finally

38:16

says, you know what, We're

38:18

going to make your assistant coaches here and he passes

38:21

away, and his son that

38:24

Ben Foster's playing, takes over

38:26

the team, and Ben doesn't like me, so he gets

38:28

me back on the road. And so when I'm on the road,

38:31

I'm like, if I find that one guy like

38:34

Luca Dirk or somebody like

38:36

that caliber that you can't deny

38:38

me that what I've done to the team,

38:40

and they'll give me a shot. And I find

38:43

Lancho hernand Gomez, who said

38:46

the greatest I

38:48

can't tell you, Danny, he acts so much

38:50

better than me, And every scene it's like, God

38:53

damn it, this guy's falling crying

38:55

in the middle of the scenes, doing the right thing, just

38:58

every joke he says. I'm like, he's said smoother

39:00

than I would over and he's an NBA player,

39:03

Like, you're getting out acted by an NBA

39:05

player destroying me

39:07

at six ten, staring looking down at me, going

39:09

no, no, no, that's not how you do that him, Let

39:11

me show you. And

39:14

he's a great guy. And I got to meet his family

39:16

in Spain and his brother Willie is a

39:18

great guy. And oh, by the

39:20

way, the whole Spanish Olympic team was in the

39:23

movie too. A lot of the guys, what

39:25

I was in Spain. What happens

39:27

is I find him at a kind of like a

39:30

Rutger Park of Spain kind

39:32

of game and he's dominating

39:35

out there, and I say, hey, man, you know, I go

39:37

and meet him and tell him what I

39:39

do. And he doesn't speak

39:41

English well, so he thinks I'm lying,

39:43

and I get him to come

39:46

practice would be the next day with the

39:49

Spanish Olympic team, so it's just to show

39:51

him that I'm legitimate, and

39:53

then I bring him over to America.

39:56

We're talking to Adam Sandler and the new

39:58

movie that he's shooting now is called Hustle and

40:01

it'll be on Netflix. But you're

40:03

also did you did you finish

40:05

the Sean Payton movie that's

40:08

done? That looks that looks great.

40:11

That's Kevin James and he's here and

40:13

my my wife's brother wrote it and

40:16

Kevin James plays Sean Payton and

40:18

this is the year that he gets suspended

40:21

by the commissioner and the movie

40:23

is about him coaching his son in high school.

40:26

Well, Sean's daughter, Megan

40:29

did this incredible short

40:31

on Sean and

40:33

it was about you know, I don't I don't even know, maybe

40:36

ten minutes long about what happened

40:38

that year when Sean didn't play, didn't

40:40

coached the team, and wasn't allowed to hang out at

40:42

the NBA NFL, he went home

40:45

and coached his son's Pop Warner team

40:48

or or you know, youth team and

40:51

and got closer with his voice aause

40:54

they were hanging out and then he said it

40:56

was the best year of his life and with football.

40:58

So I all those guys up and said

41:01

that would be an incredible movie. And

41:04

anyway, Sean was cool, and I said, yeah, let's

41:06

do it. And my watch

41:09

brother Chris wrote it with his

41:11

buddy, and Sean

41:13

was cool enough to do it and Ken then we told

41:16

Kevin James about it and he said he's

41:18

not a problem. He'll lose three to four pounds

41:20

if we want to fill it. And he

41:22

did it. No, but Kevin's great in the movie

41:25

plays Sean's

41:27

it's awesome, and Sean's in the

41:29

movie at the end, and you're

41:32

in the movie and everybody's in the movie.

41:35

Sam Man will text me sometimes at

41:37

odd hours, whether you're in Hawaii or you're

41:39

in Spain, like you don't live a movie

41:41

star lifestyle. Well,

41:45

I worked too much. I worked

41:47

too much. In fact, I got home last night from

41:49

working all day with those with the

41:51

sixers, and I was so excited, and then I was

41:53

like, oh yeah, I got that meeting to I got a doo

41:56

editing tonight. I'm losing my marbles a little

41:58

bit, but I get it pretty good. I mean, you saw my

42:00

body in the picture. That life's pretty good. There's

42:03

some food being eating. Yeah.

42:05

Uh, your little league team got

42:07

eliminated yesterday by Ohio.

42:10

But that's a hell of a run from your your

42:12

little league team. Those

42:14

guys were and they almost won yesterday.

42:16

I didn't see the whole game. I was shooting and then

42:18

I went into my trailer and it

42:21

was on and I saw them coming back and

42:23

they they played. I mean, Ohio

42:25

was great, but New

42:27

Hampshire Manchester hook said

42:29

we were making a run and it was

42:31

a tight game, and that kid in

42:33

right field on Ohio made a great catch.

42:36

But it was they were rolling all of a sudden. But I

42:38

couldn't couldn't be happy for those

42:40

guys. That's a dream. When we

42:43

were kids, we were like, man,

42:45

we gotta get to Williamsport. That was every kid's

42:47

dream in little league. And the fact that they

42:50

did it, and they did all those teams to get there.

42:52

Was very proud of them. Okay, but this

42:54

is your little league team. You played

42:56

on this same team the

42:59

Samons Act Fields in Park. I played

43:01

in my my whole youth and my dad

43:03

was my coach. All my best friends

43:05

or on the all star team

43:08

with me, and

43:10

it was those were the best springs

43:12

and summers of our lives. And then we played pretty

43:14

well in our tournament. We

43:17

I think we got pretty far into

43:19

the state championship and then

43:21

we lost. I'm pretty sure if I remember correctly,

43:23

we played about eight and like we went on

43:25

a run. But not like these guys. These guys were

43:28

insane. How good they played? What position

43:30

did you play? I was a

43:32

short stop in a picture. Okay, I

43:34

was pretty damn good. I was pretty damn good

43:36

back then. And then all of a sudden, everybody got

43:39

in the Babe Ruth league. I noticed everyone

43:41

proved four to five inches, and I was like, what

43:43

happen? Nobody?

43:45

Literal league? I was? I was? I was good. I

43:49

saw the picture. Your your your front

43:51

row, your your dead center front

43:54

row. Got

43:57

you got your big fro. I

44:00

had a little little extra hair, you

44:02

know, every year it was different.

44:04

Sometimes I had the scuzz, they

44:06

called it a scuzz. And when you got a crew

44:09

cut, shan man, go out of scuts. And

44:11

then then there were the days where my mother would

44:14

say, let your hair grow, baby, it's so beautiful,

44:18

and I would look disturbing that my father would

44:20

stare at me at the table, like we gotta cut

44:22

that hair. You look ridicular? Were

44:26

you? So? What was your what would

44:28

be the scouting report on the Sandman? Okay?

44:32

So I was na, no no

44:34

lie. They called me the vacuum.

44:36

I was very smooth out and

44:38

uh I nothing got

44:40

by me at short. I had a decent

44:42

arm got it the first guys And if

44:44

if by the way, in Little League now when

44:47

they when they throw they have a double

44:49

play, these guys act like that was supposed

44:51

to happen. When we had a double play a Litle league, we looked

44:53

at each other like that really people

44:56

at what happened?

44:58

I know, but but that was exciting

45:01

a double playback and these guys literally don't

45:04

I don't know how they got so good so young.

45:06

But and then what else was I was good?

45:08

But I had a good bat. I had a good bat. I

45:10

got I could. I pulled it every time, never

45:13

never had anything to write to you, and pulled it every

45:15

every time and never

45:18

knocked one out. I hit the fence one time. It was

45:20

a wooden wooden like. The

45:23

signs were all over the fence, and I remember hearing boom,

45:25

and I was like, I had to fence. God, damn

45:29

well, I think I got a double. I was not

45:31

even a thought of a triple. But if I would have said

45:34

back then, hey, you can be a professional

45:36

baseball player, or you can grow up and be a

45:38

comedian baseball

45:41

player, I would have wanted that. Now. The truth

45:43

is, Danny, I was laying in bed one day. I

45:45

was like a Saturday afternoon, and I

45:48

said to my dad, I might have told you this. I

45:50

said to my dad. He goes, what do you want to

45:52

do one year older? I said, however,

45:55

be a pro baseball player. He goes, nah,

46:00

nah, good,

46:02

no, no, no, I am Kyle mcdonnaugh,

46:05

Kyle mcdonnah. He could be a pro baseball player.

46:08

He goes, you're slow, and I

46:10

go, yeah, I know I'm slow, but that's

46:12

all. He goes, No, you're real. Don't you

46:14

never seen yourself run? Do

46:16

you filmed me? He filled me with one

46:18

of those super eight cameras and he goes, look at your run.

46:21

Not that you can't be a pro. That

46:26

sounds like a movie. That's

46:29

pretty true, man. He was just he was just looking

46:31

at me, like, quit lying, Let's

46:33

get you something. And then I remember

46:35

when I told my dad I want to be a comedian.

46:37

He was all back, Dad out one hundred percent.

46:40

But he said, but you gotta give yourself

46:42

a time limit, and so if

46:44

you you don't make it by the time

46:47

you're twenty three, you come for it. For me, I

46:49

said, yeah, yeah, okay, and then I started

46:51

doing okay. I'm very young, and he

46:53

was like, and I said, do I have to work here? Yeah? He just no, no,

46:55

no, You're make it enough. Let's keep going with that.

46:58

But that was that was a fallback play. That's going to be

47:00

an electrician for my dad. You

47:07

and then Danny, were you good at little League?

47:09

I bet you were incredible. I'm a shortstop

47:12

pitcher, me and

47:14

you, buddy, and you had Ohio will get to Hampshire

47:16

because that was your team. Yeah and Ohio

47:19

one. Yesterday you

47:21

guys won again. We

47:24

all your basketball. You

47:26

better ice cream, you make better ice cream than

47:29

me. Everything about you wins you

47:31

got it. I think a nicer house, well,

47:35

I got I got about it six or seven.

47:38

Everyone dominates your house, I

47:42

asked Sam Man. I'm like, uh, you know when

47:44

you ask somebody when you hope that they'll

47:46

invite you to their house. And I go up, So, where

47:49

where's your home in Hawaii? And

47:51

he gave me like a very vague

47:54

location. He

47:57

said, I's on one of the islands.

48:00

It's on one of the islands. I go, oh, okay,

48:02

all right, this there's not

48:04

a lot. I was very you'll find it

48:09

dandy. Would you like to come and golf? Can

48:11

you go golfing? I would now that now

48:14

that you're picking up the sport again, Yes,

48:17

I getting it, getting it going. Ag. I

48:19

almost had it. I had one not

48:22

I had two good rounds on nine

48:24

holes, but then I played eighteen and I blew up

48:26

on both both the the nine but I

48:28

had one thirty nine on nine

48:31

and then at thirty seven, and

48:33

then I got forty fives on the back

48:35

and then like the forty seven. But goodness,

48:38

gracious, I had it going. Do you still

48:40

belong to Riviera?

48:42

Yes? Well I played there the other day

48:44

that would be nice when I come out for

48:46

the super Bowl that we could go play Riviera Country

48:49

Club. Yeah, but yes, we'll

48:51

do that. But don't you sing me and you for like three

48:53

four days living in uh now

48:55

again? Like yeah that time

48:57

we had fun there and now we're making a movie. This could

48:59

be more fun. Okay, but is this just you

49:02

and me? You

49:04

want one? I bring you two? Dannis,

49:07

I can't have well, no, no, no, but no, I

49:09

was gonna have fun. I want famous people. I don't

49:11

want to bring the damn Anniston. You know I'll

49:13

have I'll have Anniston just kind of. No.

49:17

You kept Anniston away from me when

49:19

we shot that movie. You know that you

49:21

did? Yeah, yeah, you know I didn't.

49:24

I knew. I listened she you

49:26

friends blocked me with Jennifer Aniston,

49:29

and I had I had all. I

49:31

had good intentions. I've loved you had

49:34

no intention that it was good for your family.

49:37

I know your wife's a good woman. There's

49:39

no way the way you Anniston

49:41

walks by you with that perfew of me. You're just like

49:43

a whole head. I

49:48

might have thought that, but I I

49:51

wouldn't have done that. But yeah, we could

49:53

get Dave Matthews to again

49:55

and we could go to Hawaii. You me, Dave

49:58

Matthews and Jennifer

50:00

Aniston, and you

50:02

got to tell the truth the whole time. You didn't even

50:04

menage for you, just like please introduced

50:07

me, Dickieth Rapin. Uh,

50:10

well, Nicole Kidman wanted nothing to do with

50:12

me, and and no, no, nobody

50:15

did. Nobody did. Well, the women

50:17

didn't. But uh,

50:19

Keith, Keith wanted

50:22

to talk sports. And then I think Nicole was

50:24

surprised that he, her husband,

50:26

knew who I was. And

50:28

and then you know, we got along famously

50:30

after that. Of course, Um,

50:33

I can play guitar. By the way that Keith smooth,

50:37

he can, sin could

50:39

take anybody's wife away.

50:43

One of your co stars in the movie Hustle has

50:45

a question. Yes, mclove Yeah, Adam, it's mclovin.

50:47

There's a lot of emails going around. I could probably

50:49

use a push from you. The size of my trailer

50:52

has become an issue on set. I

50:54

mean, I don't. It doesn't need to be huge. Just like

50:57

does he get a double banger? He

51:00

gets? He gets? Uh, he's sharing it. Okay,

51:03

he's sharing the trailer, but

51:05

he does. We did get him a full weight room.

51:08

We got him a uh got

51:10

a nice guy on the set. There's an

51:12

extra green room for him. We got all the candles.

51:15

Nick Love and asked for what is the strangest

51:17

thing you've ever asked for or

51:20

heard somebody ask? Um,

51:24

Well, I don't know, nothing,

51:27

nothing awful, nothing. I

51:29

don't really ask for too much. But but I

51:31

think maybe I do ask for too much because sometimes

51:34

that the people stare at me like I'm

51:36

I'm a pig. But uh

51:39

what the hell? Uh No, nothing too

51:41

bad? Just wait, weight rooms, weight rooms, I

51:44

like. I like. My trailer

51:47

is kind of open hole. All I asked for is the

51:49

baseball package. That's it said, make sure

51:51

you have the baseball or the back door package, depending

51:53

on what's season is. Yeah. Football.

51:55

Uh all right, so uh I'll

51:58

I'll let you know. I'll be shooting my stuff up here in the

52:00

man K but mclovin's going to be joining you there in Philadelphia

52:03

in a couple of weeks. It's gonna

52:05

be great. Sorry to the to the NFL.

52:07

So we'll come in. Maybe I'll look at

52:10

the script and see if we come up with something. If

52:12

they want to come out, No, no, no, Well

52:15

I'm still scarred from the Susan Surrandon

52:17

prison scene that we did. You

52:21

were funny in that one man, Sam Man. Do you

52:23

know that Susan Surrandon refused

52:26

to make eye contact with us just

52:28

because she had no idea

52:30

who we were and had no interest in talking

52:33

to us, even though we all wanted to

52:35

talk to her, she had no interest. Do you

52:37

tell these women that are in scenes

52:39

with us to not socialize

52:42

with us? There's this energy

52:44

you guys so

52:47

scary that every

52:49

woman just kind of just goes nuns best

52:51

I was. I

52:53

will look at that, I will say Katie

52:55

Holmes, And there was a twinkle in

52:57

her eye that next day.

53:00

That was Ohio. That's Ohio

53:02

stuff. Yes, it was. Anybody from Ohio

53:04

like everyone else, is very

53:07

nervous. Man. Um, No,

53:09

you're too tall and gangly. They

53:11

want you to eat more. They want shorter

53:14

guys. They're used to short guys. All the Hollywood

53:16

stars are short. What

53:18

are you? Six six seven? H

53:23

We'll talk to you soon. And my best

53:25

everybody there, and thanks again. Congrats

53:28

to all the kids in New Hampshire. By

53:31

the way, congrat to all the Little League kids who are

53:33

rolling rolling out there. Or even got

53:35

to that tournament and uh New Hampshire

53:38

Manchester hooks that you guys were awesome,

53:40

awesome, loved watching you and the whole

53:42

time was we were all loving you. Okay,

53:45

and Danny, I'll speak to you soon.
