The Eagles moved to seven and O, beating the Steelers

0:12

thirty five to thirteen. And it was the

0:14

A. J. Brown Show that was touchdown number

0:17

one? Here comes touchdown number two.

0:19

How about touchdown number three? It was a hat trick

0:22

for A J. Brown today, but he was the only receiver

0:24

that found the end zone. Zach Pascal scores his

0:26

first touchdown as an Eagle. Welcome

0:30

to the postgame show presented by Rico. I'm Gabriella

0:33

de Givanni, joined by friend Duffy and I Greece

0:36

Ike. I

0:46

wasn't sure how much juice you were gonna have coming off

0:48

the bye week, you know, but no rust whatsoever.

0:50

Mid season form from my crazy weren't rusty.

0:53

You weren't rusty. I'm telling you. I didn't realize

0:55

the team was gonna looked as good either coming off the bye

0:57

week. Man, this was a blast to watch

0:59

this play today. I mean the offense, ball

1:02

through the air. A J. Brown. Outstanding game

1:04

from him with Jalen Hurst today, My

1:07

goodness, career high four touchdown passes.

1:09

He just looked flawless out there today. Yeah.

1:11

Then the defense one for twelve, oh third down,

1:13

you have three sacks a couple more turnovers.

1:16

This defense continuing a high level of play

1:18

here against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But this is what

1:20

you want to see from a team like the Eagles. On paper,

1:23

they should win this game, there is no question about

1:25

that. But to be able to do that through all four

1:27

quarters frame You and I talked about this in the postgame show.

1:29

Can they put together a performance in all

1:32

four quarters? And I think they did that today. Yeah. And

1:34

you're so right. When you're going up against an inferior

1:36

opponent like the Pitchburgh Steelers, sometimes

1:39

it's human nature to let your guard down and think

1:41

it's gonna be a casual day for

1:43

you. But I like what the Eagles did. Man. They came out,

1:46

they delivered the first punch, and they didn't let their

1:48

foot up off the gas all day until

1:50

they got that final touchdown and they put the backup

1:52

staying there. This is what you want to see from

1:54

a football team that's undefeated.

1:57

I think it's been their most dominant performance

2:00

of the season. When you think about start to finish,

2:02

If you think about playing a young

2:04

team or with a young quarterback like the Pitchburg

2:07

Stablers, you don't want this team to hang around

2:09

and think that they can win this game. You want

2:11

to put your foot on the firth boat and basically

2:14

choke him out. And that's what they did. That's

2:16

what dominant football teams do, and that's what the

2:19

Eagles did today. Yeah, h I think you hit the nail

2:21

on the head. This was a four quarter game. That's one

2:23

of the things that was the only complaint that you heard

2:25

about this team was all the difference between the first

2:27

half and the second half. What happens with the offense

2:30

on the first drive of the second of the

2:32

second half, they come out in completion

2:34

on first down and then four straight plays

2:36

of ten plus yards that leads to a touchdown,

2:38

and then defensively boat two turnovers

2:41

in the second half. You let up three points on the scoreboard.

2:43

Just an outstanding job on both sides of the football.

2:46

Really good complimentary football from this

2:48

team, but a really strong way to finish

2:50

after the fast start. All right, Eagles

2:52

fans, We're gonna head over to Lincoln Financial Field where Dave

2:54

Spernero joins US live from the field.

2:57

Dave WelCom in. The Eagles are seven and

2:59

oh that's the top. What are your big takeaways

3:01

from today's game. You know, Ella,

3:03

great energy from this football team today.

3:07

We wondered how they would come off the bye week,

3:09

wondered about the sixteen minute game as

3:11

you guys talked about, and they showed right

3:13

away. As Jalen Hurts said during

3:15

the week, do you remember, Ella, that he talked about elevating

3:18

that intensity, that focus, that

3:20

urgency, and they did that today. I thought Jalen

3:23

was really great throwing the football down the field,

3:25

and that is something that you'd heard

3:27

in the past, the Eagles not throwing

3:29

the ball down the field a lot. His accuracy

3:31

down the field in question. Some of

3:34

the balls he had today were absolutely fantastic.

3:36

And a J. Brown going up and making

3:38

plays and adjusting to the football and stealing

3:41

those fifty fifty passes away from defensive

3:43

backs. It's everything we've seen from

3:45

AJ. And then that on

3:48

the other side that the confidence that

3:50

Jalen Hurts has throwing the football down field really

3:52

really impressive. Then they got the run game

3:55

going in the second half, so really good

3:57

Yin and yang there offensively, and

3:59

then offensively Eagles very content giving

4:02

up that short stuff to Kenny Pickett.

4:05

But when the time came to put the pressure

4:07

on to take the football away. They

4:09

did it. It was just a really impressive performance

4:11

and again a sixty minute game. As Franz

4:14

said, something that the Eagles had been talking

4:16

about all year. We finally saw it today. Eagles

4:18

scored a touchdown in every quarter of this afternoon.

4:21

Dave, what does that say about the productivity from the offensive

4:23

side of the football. Yeah, great

4:25

consistency. It's what they've been looking for. And

4:28

you know, not coming out slow, putting up points

4:30

on the first drive, still

4:32

just coming at the Steelers, coming at

4:34

the Steelers in a variety of ways.

4:36

Getting Zach Pascal involved. I just

4:39

really like what Zach brings to the game, So getting him

4:41

involved, keeping him going really important

4:43

there. Dallas Goddard another very

4:45

quiet but six catches. Eagles

4:47

spreading the football around, doing a great job. DeVante

4:50

Smith some nice catching runs. I

4:52

just again, if this team can

4:54

put together four quarters like they

4:57

did today, I don't care who the opposition is,

4:59

really really tough team to be. She

5:01

objected for this defense was limiting

5:03

explosive plays going into this afternoon.

5:05

What can you say about their performance? Yeah,

5:08

I thought again, you know, the clay Pool

5:10

Pickens, I think I think he did not have a catch and

5:12

at least till the very end, I mean last I look, he had

5:15

zero catches, so really good job by

5:17

James Bradberry and company working

5:19

on him down the field. Good

5:21

job on Deontay Johnson and his speed,

5:24

Clay Pool, same thing. I mean, the Eagles not

5:27

we talked about it before the game, do not give up

5:29

the big play, which they didn't do. They

5:31

really they did a very nice job containing Pittsburgh,

5:34

keeping everything in front of them, and then

5:36

being able to have those two takeaways huge

5:39

keeps the streak alive here. Sixteen

5:42

takeaways in seven games is

5:44

remarkable. And then a lot of pressure on

5:46

Picket and some sacks and the

5:48

defense again you know that one

5:50

touchdown and after the Eagles scored. Okay,

5:52

you go out, Teas, I want to see a perfect game. Other

5:55

than that, it was pretty much a perfect

5:57

game from the Eagles defense. Dave, what

5:59

was that crowd? Like? Seven to zero? The Eagles

6:01

were dominant all game. Yeah,

6:03

I mean, I'll tell you, like the Eagles, I think the crowd

6:06

might be a little partied out from the

6:08

weekend and they're sitting here and they're

6:10

they're sitting here any good time in the morning. I

6:12

think everybody kind of expected the Eagles

6:14

to take care of business today against

6:17

the Pittsburgh Steelers. A few times they had

6:19

to get loud third downs they did, but

6:21

otherwise, I think the fans sat back, understood

6:24

what they were watching, and that was a domination by

6:26

the Philadelphia Eagles over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

6:28

They sat back in this beautiful October

6:31

day and enjoyed every bit of it. Late

6:33

night baseball Game's gonna be a late night on Thursday

6:35

all week ahead for Philly fans and

6:39

a great weekend. Everybody's really enjoying all

6:41

the positive vibes, and I think the players are

6:44

feeding off that too. It's just a it's

6:46

a great sports environment in Philadelphia.

6:48

Great Dave, thank you so much. All

6:51

Right, that was Eagles Inside or Dave Spinnaro. But Eagles fans,

6:53

while you're tuning in, be sure to write in the Facebook

6:55

comments any questions you have for Ike

6:57

and or ask Ike segment. You can type them in

6:59

the faceboo comments will ear them on the show. All

7:02

right. Listening to some things that Dave had to say,

7:04

I thought it was interesting when he said Eagles fans

7:06

are kind of sitting back and enjoying this. It is something

7:08

to enjoy and a moment to just

7:10

be very present for it. But when he did get

7:12

get into the weeds of what we saw today,

7:15

and you think about I mean, he said George Pickens

7:17

had zero receptions. Say, weekend

7:19

and week out, we see this defense completely shut

7:22

down very productive wide receivers. Yeah,

7:24

I mean, We've said it before. This

7:26

is the best secondary in football. And

7:28

I'm actually a little surprised they

7:31

weren't able to come up with a few more interceptions

7:33

off Kenny Pikett. But he kept

7:35

the ball out of harms right for the most part, Kemp

7:37

everything underneath. The times he did throw

7:39

the ball down the field, it certainly wasn't harms

7:41

where they finally got one with C. J. Gardner Johnson

7:44

picking him off late. But I'm you

7:46

don't want to take for granted what this defense is

7:49

doing. But it's almost expected,

7:51

all right, It's almost expected. That's the level and

7:53

the standard that they've set by the way that they've

7:55

played so far this year. And you look at

7:58

the schedule and you say to yourself, what

8:00

quarterback is going to be able to throw the ball

8:02

against this defense? I just don't

8:04

see it. When you look at how the defensive

8:06

line plays up front, and they played complimentary

8:09

football on the back end, there's no one to throw

8:11

the ball too. I mean, it just is it. I just don't

8:13

think that you can have any issues with the defensive

8:15

performance in this game. The

8:18

only touchdown allowed in this game came

8:20

on that fourth and one trick play

8:22

off the jet sweep throw from Chase Claypool,

8:24

and that happened after a penalty on the field

8:27

goal. Right, So you have a long drive in the end

8:29

of the beginning of the third quarter, fourteen

8:31

plays, you're up eighteen points, so you go fourteen

8:33

plays that ends in the field goal. That drive,

8:35

by the way extended by the fake punt. So when

8:37

you look at all the points that Pittsburgh was able to

8:39

score, some flukey plays involved in

8:41

there, I thought this defense was really really

8:43

impressive. One for twelve on third

8:46

down. The only third down conversion a

8:48

QB sneak from Kenny Pickett on third

8:50

and one that was all the way back in the first quarter.

8:52

So this defense absolutely showed up

8:54

in a big way today against the Steelers. Six

8:56

sacks for the Eagles defense, two of those coming from

8:58

jay Von Hargrave, against former team.

9:01

What can we say about the pressure we're seeing from

9:03

the Eagles defense affront? I just mentioned

9:05

the complimentary defense, right, so very

9:07

want to get into Kittie Pickett no problem because

9:09

he has nowhere to go with the football. You know. Sometimes

9:12

they do a great job getting off the ball, beating

9:14

the one on one blocks, but there were times

9:16

a day where he had to hold the ball back there

9:18

and it was great to see Javon Hargrave has

9:21

his success against his old team. I thought the

9:23

play where he got the strip fumble there really

9:26

put out the last little ditch of holding in Pitchburgh

9:28

had of getting back into this game, and

9:30

that was a huge play there. Yeah, no doubt it.

9:32

It's always great to be able to see guys perform in

9:34

that kind of situation. One thing I loved too from

9:36

the Seagles defense. We saw a number of blitzes.

9:39

We saw a number of stunts that resulted in some big

9:41

plays that CJ. Gardner, Johnson or sack

9:44

came off that nickel pressure. And then we saw the sack

9:46

from a Son Reddick on the first third down of the game

9:48

that came on that three man stunt. We haven't seen a lot

9:50

of that from the Seagles defense. I thought that was impressive

9:52

to take away as well. Thirteen tackles for

9:55

t J Edwards today, another game where

9:57

he was the team's leading tackler. You know, I'm

9:59

coming to UI. What have you seen

10:01

from him in terms of growth? Right, he was

10:03

a good linebacker last year, obviously that he was

10:05

believed to him when they gave him a contract extension.

10:08

But now he's played a different kind of ball. Yeah,

10:10

his football IQ is so

10:13

high and you can tell he's rarely out

10:15

of position. That's the thing I love about TJ.

10:17

Not the biggest, not the fastest, so he's not

10:19

going to overwhelm you with his measurables,

10:22

but he has it up here. He knows where to be at

10:24

those guys trusting you talk. You talk about the thirteen

10:27

tackles that he had. He also tipped that ball

10:29

that CJ partner Johnson was able

10:31

to pick off TJ. TJ to

10:33

me, he's obviously an overachiever.

10:36

He's talking about the guy was undrafted. He's played different

10:38

positions coming out of Wisconsin. Man,

10:40

he's just a hard worker. That's why I love his story.

10:43

I love his journey to the NFL

10:45

and what He's become on this football

10:47

team really one of the leaders over there own defense.

10:49

Even though they have all the big money players around

10:52

him, TJ is the guy in the middle that they all

10:54

look to. Yeah, let the team and pass breakups. Today

10:56

you had a couple of so leading the team

10:58

and tackles and pass breakup. I've always

11:00

been a fan of t J. Edwards, and I think that his

11:03

play shows up so so well in

11:05

this scheme. When you're gonna play with lighter boxes, you

11:07

need your guys in the front seven that are playing

11:09

close to the line of scrimmage to be able to play through

11:11

contact defeat blocks. You can't just be

11:13

one for one up there when you've got six guys

11:15

in the box. And I think you see that time and time

11:18

again from t J. Edwards. His ability to

11:20

be a ball magnet and just get to the football

11:22

time and time again shows up every single

11:24

week. All Right, we haven't asked that question. Let's

11:26

see what we have. I

11:30

get one more victory from

11:32

you. Come on, you gotta perform for

11:34

the people like victory.

11:45

He might not be able to talk. The rest I

11:48

get, I get nervous. They're getting really intense.

11:50

He's getting more of the body into than these days.

11:52

I'm worried he's gonna go back chair

11:54

down. Tell you if I do fall out of his

11:56

chair to go to blank real quick.

12:00

I don't think you got a fray with that on. You're

12:02

going viral on that one. All right, let's

12:04

get back to the defense. It's funny the Eagles

12:06

put up thirty five points, but we're talking about the defense.

12:09

But I have another question for you guys. Seeing CJ. Gardner

12:11

Johnson get his third interception, I'm

12:13

sorry, another interception in his third straight

12:16

game, I should say he's still a new addition

12:18

to this team. When you see guys like him,

12:20

like Hassan Reddick, I mean, he kicked things off of

12:22

the defense with that sack in the opening drive against

12:25

the Steelers, And then you get a guy like

12:27

Robert Quinn and how's he going to find

12:29

his place in this defense? What can you say about

12:31

Jonathan Gann and what he's done to really bring

12:33

all of these pieces together, really has done a

12:35

masterful job this year. You know, these guys

12:38

usually you need game

12:40

experience together to sort of be able to

12:42

play off of each other on that defensive

12:44

side of the ball. And watching what these guys

12:46

are doing, given the fact that most of them

12:48

got here this year on that side of the football,

12:50

It's been amazing that jan I

12:53

said he's JG. Now he went since JG has

12:56

the ability to do the what

12:58

we call it the multiple multiple defenses.

13:00

Yeah, the multiple defenses give you different

13:02

looks. I love how he's using guy's Fran

13:04

brought up the sack the Hassan Reddick

13:07

had. You rarely see a three man game like

13:09

that where the ind comes all the way around and at

13:11

least have it work, and he came through that Scott free.

13:13

So Jonathan Ganning up at night

13:16

mad scientists coming up with different ways

13:18

to put these guys in position so so

13:20

that they can make place and C. J.

13:22

Gardner Johnson is playing safety, where

13:25

a position power of coming here. He had

13:27

some reps at it, but didn't do it a whole lot.

13:29

He was more of a nickel corner. And I

13:31

love the fact that he's back there as a ball hulking

13:34

player and a playmaker man. This defense

13:36

is only going to get better as the season

13:38

goes on. Yeah. One of the big things that I've heard a

13:40

lot over these last couple of weeks of the Eagles you know,

13:42

plus twelve and turnover ratio. Coming into

13:44

the game, was all like, is that sustainable? Are

13:46

they're always gonna be able to count on those turnovers?

13:49

Well, I think with the way that the Eagles have set

13:51

this team up, not just from a player's standpoint,

13:53

when you get a reddick and you're adding Robert

13:55

Quinn, all those guys are certainly out to it. I'm sorry

13:57

I have to cut you off with the man of the hour aj at

14:00

the podium. Every

14:02

one, good man.

14:08

When there's a gold ball for you,

14:12

when you enjoy moms, you

14:15

know something, Uh,

14:18

I think I enjoyed the most being single

14:20

covered. You know. Um my

14:23

eyes light up because I know I got a possibility.

14:25

It gets the ball and it's

14:27

my ball to nobody ball. And

14:30

I'm kind of upseting myself because I

14:33

know the opportunity laying a game even though

14:35

it's a flag, but I knew I could have caught

14:37

the ball and another opportunity in the ball I

14:39

had dropped where I

14:41

let the sun just dictate my whole everything.

14:44

I couldn't see the ball in and so

14:46

that I'm really kind of upset right now because I know I

14:48

could have had like a I had a

14:50

big day, but I could have had an even bigger day, you

14:52

know, if I made the most of them opportunities. So it's

14:55

definitely wrong for improvement. So James,

14:58

I kind of if you kind of talk about those

15:01

late hands you were practicing

15:03

during the summer, um kind

15:05

of showed up today. Yea with a couple

15:07

of those, how much you take you

15:09

I prove that I'm

15:12

always trying to like work on something and

15:14

continue continue, uh

15:18

getting a bigger bag, you know,

15:20

the building my arts on them, and uh

15:22

yeah I did. I did show late hands and I squeeze them,

15:25

squeezing back inside to give myself some room for the

15:27

over the shoulder. Jenna gave me a great

15:29

ball on them on both of the sideline

15:32

passes, and you know, I just

15:35

ots over the shoulder. So what

15:37

was stealing that that first touchdown? Pastics like

15:39

it sort of slowed up mid round before you

15:41

saw the ball in the airline. Yeah,

15:45

that's the thing with Jenen. You never know like what to

15:47

expect because I did not supposed to get that ball, and

15:50

I looked I was just trying to clear it off for Smitty and

15:52

you know, get the safety out of out the way and Uh.

15:55

I looked up the ball was in air, and I'm like, oh

15:57

shit, I mean and

15:59

at I gotta at least try to go do something.

16:01

You know. I know Miko back there and he was he was playing

16:04

like the center field. I'm glad he wasn't that

16:06

aggressive, you know, so you know I had to be aggressive.

16:08

So on the other two touchdowns,

16:10

you did you know it was? It was different? Yeah,

16:15

I knew I had a possibility to

16:17

to get the ball right there and

16:19

he got called for a Tony Pann. Yeah, you're saying

16:22

to the Steelers, Uh,

16:25

I just said one two, that's

16:27

not enough. You know what

16:31

you form, the kind

16:33

of cemetry, what's

16:37

physical? Me

16:42

and jam Um,

16:45

I think we just we just

16:48

want to be great. You know, this

16:50

is somebody that I called myself, called

16:52

myself, called my friend, and

16:56

he knows or he knows what I want to accomplished, and I know

16:58

he want to complished. So when you're

17:00

playing for somebody you know that

17:03

you love. You know what I'm saying that you call family,

17:06

you know, it's

17:08

a it's a different it's a different it's

17:11

a different meaning behind it. You know.

17:13

You know, I know I can't let him down. You

17:15

know what I'm saying. So we

17:18

just we just haven't fun to playing for one another. You

17:20

know, I'm pretty

17:23

sure he knows that I got his back and I know he got

17:25

mine. So I just think that's that's exactly

17:27

what this is. Like on

17:30

your last reception, Um, you know,

17:32

when you got caught the ball over the middle and then kind of

17:34

like ran past the defense, I mean, did you

17:36

think you were going in for a touchdown? Yeah,

17:40

that's another one I'm upset about too. My

17:43

teammates gave me a hard time for that, Uh,

17:47

especially Zach Pascal and

17:50

he just got called so he made a little

17:52

better. Um, But yeah, I definitely,

17:55

I definitely felt like I was on the score. You

17:57

know, Mika. You know, he did a good

17:59

job of you know, swiping my legs and get

18:01

me down, But I was I was upset,

18:03

you know, that's I think, like, I think that's the first time I

18:05

got caught in the NFL. So, you

18:07

know, my teammates let me here here like that,

18:10

so we've all good to see what you

18:12

guys have like back in your president

18:14

you kind of also open it up stuffing

18:16

the white jokes also passed

18:19

all that. Yeah,

18:21

most definitely, Um, when I got out to a hard

18:23

start, you know, Um, we knew that's gonna

18:25

start doubling me. Um, and they

18:27

did, and so it was another

18:30

opportunity for someone else, you know. And then and

18:33

I don't mind that. I don't mind that at all. But

18:36

whenever, I just know, whenever I get the opportunity to go on

18:38

on one, I got to make the most of it, you know.

18:40

So like a lot of that,

18:43

a lot of the touchdowns were on blitzes

18:46

by Pittsburgh exact. Got the point of emphasis

18:48

during the bye weeks. It was kind of

18:50

the focus there. Um Yeah,

18:53

we most definitely wanted to clean that up. But I didn't even

18:55

know if it was on blitzes to be honest, but

18:58

we most definitely, uh this this

19:00

buy, you know, we wanted to try to clean

19:02

up everything is possible and picking up

19:04

the blitz and you know what I'm saying, calling the

19:06

hot routes was definitely one of the things that we worked

19:09

on. You talked about how player at your

19:11

level you're still trying to add you know, stuff to your bag

19:13

and the proud we're a team that's seven

19:15

to do. How do you guys as a group of board,

19:20

Uh, just remaining humble.

19:23

We wasn't perfect out there. It made

19:25

the score, may may say something, but we

19:28

wasn't perfect and we know, um,

19:30

we got stuff to clean up. You know, Like I said

19:33

a couple weeks ago, this team is hungry. You

19:35

know what I'm saying most importantly humble, but we

19:38

know it's a lot of work to be done. Man, we still

19:40

have not played like a complete game. And

19:42

and I promise you everybody's wrong gonna know when we played

19:45

a complete game, you know what I'm saying, because we believe

19:47

in each other and once we once we

19:49

do that the whole world. And know that I

19:52

just enjoyed this one and playing again for

19:56

this Let's

19:58

do it again. You know, a quick turn around.

20:01

You know, you gotta do as necessary, get

20:03

your body prepared, and um,

20:05

we even we're starting that now in the locker room, you

20:08

know, doing doing stuff that we have to do to

20:10

get our bodies ready for Thursday. You know.

20:12

So, I

20:15

mean, I'm sorry. J has

20:17

a lot of critics on um. You know, people say

20:19

things about his arm. What do you think a forecasting touchdowns

20:22

today? I don't want to answer

20:24

that question because he would answer that question,

20:26

you know, because he he doesn't care about that, you

20:28

know. Uh, but crazy

20:32

just you know you kind of talking about your really,

20:35

but what do you know about is spier right now,

20:37

I'm gonna answer it from a free standpoint almost

20:39

definitely, you know what I'm saying. I want him to accomplish

20:42

everything you know he set

20:44

out to achieve, you know, from a players

20:46

a players standpoint, you know, Uh, he

20:49

hasn't done nothing yet, so you know

20:51

he's still working. He's in the lab, and you

20:53

know that's the mentality he has too.

20:55

So Jay,

20:57

when you think office to make

21:00

gets about different people all year at different

21:02

times. We have a game like this

21:04

one,

21:07

we have rout or don't feel like we're

21:09

having a game like this one. Um,

21:14

it's fine, it's fine. We as

21:16

you saw, we was out there doing celebrations and

21:18

everything and it's fine. It's

21:20

fun man, It's it's nothing like it. You know that

21:23

I could say, like you know, not

21:25

to throw you know, bad blood

21:27

on anyone, but like it's most time, like we are

21:29

having fun. It's offense this team, like

21:31

we're enjoying each other. Kelsey Kelsey

21:34

on the sideline with the batman mask,

21:36

Like like, guys, we're

21:39

thinking about stuff to do and we're doing it, you know, you

21:41

know, uh, it's it's it's

21:43

so fun. I just can't. I don't know, I don't got the words

21:45

for it. Like if we just enjoying each other and playing

21:47

ball, doing what we love. So, like A.

21:53

J. Brown said, they're just having some fun. We're gonna keep

21:56

having fun on this show right here. So Eagles fans,

21:58

get your comments in on the Facebook amens,

22:00

ask any question you have. We'll get him

22:02

answered right here on the show. Very

22:04

interesting. He had a three touchdown day

22:07

and he says, upset with his performance. I had

22:09

a big day, but it could have been bigger. That's

22:11

a true competitor right there. But also speaking

22:13

from a veteran and understanding, you

22:15

know that there's always more you can strive for. Yeah,

22:18

and you love the fact that his standards are high.

22:20

He expects more from himself and

22:22

receivers. They only had so many

22:24

opportunities in the game, right, So he had

22:26

a couple chances there where he feels like he could

22:29

have had an even bigger day. And that's just

22:31

a caliber of player than he is. He expects

22:33

those things out of himself and I love it.

22:35

I mean, he reminds me a lot of Jalen. You

22:37

can tell all these guys are very good friends. They're around

22:39

each other, they have sort of the same mentality.

22:42

We've heard Jalen at their games this

22:44

year. Obviously they'd won every game, but

22:46

Jaalen not necessarily be happy with

22:49

whether it was his performance or the

22:51

team's overall performers, saying that the

22:53

standard is high and we hadn't met the standard

22:55

yet. So be interesting to hear Jalen's comments today

22:57

because I think they met the standard today today,

23:00

I believe was their most dominant performance.

23:02

Well, you know that they're always going to hang on those players that

23:04

that could have been something else. And that's the thing

23:06

is that when you have a guy like Jalen who is

23:09

leading the offense and that's the tone that he sets,

23:11

like that's when we talk about on field standard.

23:13

That's the off field standard that Jalen Hurt

23:15

sets and all those guys they have to match it behind

23:17

him. And so hearing aj Brown kind

23:20

of follow that, it has been fun to watch. Well, another

23:22

guy who's having some fun today, Jason Kelsey.

23:25

This is when he was strolling around the sidelines

23:27

looking like a j Brown mentioned it he put

23:29

the Batman mask on. That's a new one. We've seen

23:31

the cape. Now we got a mask out here

23:33

now and Kelsey has it on. Yeah, we

23:35

all listen. Everybody's favorite,

23:38

the mayor of Philadelphia, Jason Kelsey.

23:41

Who else would be perfect for doing that on the

23:43

sideline. It had to be Jason Kelsey. So this

23:45

is great to see. You know, these guys are enjoying

23:48

playing with each other. Winning It

23:50

brings a lot of that out of you. And so I

23:53

just love the fact that they have that sort of culture

23:55

set on the team that you know, they

23:57

know when they have a little fun. I like to touchdown celebrations.

24:01

That's starting to get creative as well. All right, let's

24:03

hear from coach himself, Nick Sirianni at the podium

24:07

chair. I got a chair? Can you get a chure? He

24:15

tailor? Are

24:20

you good? All

24:22

right? Fire away? Nick? There seemed to be less

24:24

RPO today as we've seen in earlier in this

24:26

season. Was there an emphasis during the bye week to

24:28

do more traditional drop backs? Uh? No,

24:30

because RPOs have been pretty good for us. RPO

24:33

has got to think that we're we're looking to run the

24:35

ball first on RPO. So when we do pass, it's

24:37

an extra pass that happens. Um, but we're

24:39

looking to run at first there. So but no,

24:41

we we uh, we definitely we worked hard in the

24:43

bye week. I'm really happy for our coaches

24:45

of how much time they put in and how much you

24:47

know, information we got done. Like and it

24:50

was a it's a group effort, right and so analytics

24:52

department giving us a lot of different things, uh,

24:54

defensive coaches looking at things for the offense

24:56

and vice versa. Um. So um,

24:59

we found like we fixed some tendencies. We

25:01

were able to get a couple of things off of some tendencies

25:04

and create some explosive plays off some tendencies that

25:06

we had. Um. And that's what the bye weeks for.

25:08

It's in a very very important part of the process.

25:12

All right, see you guys later. Games

25:16

like that from A. J. Brown before, you

25:18

know, I sure have it when I was in Indianapolis

25:20

and he is having him on our defense. So yeah, I've

25:22

seen that. I've seen that before. Was this any

25:24

different or more special? Immunity was his biggest

25:26

game? Yeah, Yeah, that was a big, big time game. It was

25:28

special because I was on the same sideline with him,

25:31

right. Uh, And you know, just

25:33

so much credit to Howie and his staff to

25:36

get that done and um Man

25:38

because he makes he makes us so much better.

25:40

He's just doing a great job. Jalen and him

25:42

had an instant can have an instant connection on the

25:44

field. We know they had the connection off the field,

25:46

and he had a big time game for us today

25:48

and it was good to see that adj

25:51

Mener on his first touchdown he wasn't the primary

25:53

read. What was that play supposed to look? First touch?

25:55

Gosh? Oh um you know

25:58

there there we had a couple of different things going on there.

26:00

Uh we felt like um manka

26:03

was a little low on the play and j and Jalen

26:05

took advantage of that. And uh so there

26:07

was was whether he was the primary or not.

26:09

Jalen did a good job of getting through his read and

26:12

finding uh you know, finding it for a touchdown. And

26:15

said that Jalen

26:17

is still in the lab becoming the player that he

26:19

can be. How close to the teams

26:23

I think I think that's been asked to me before and what

26:25

I've answered with that is that we don't

26:27

know. Jalen's just the type of guy that's going to continue

26:29

to get better. Um because you

26:32

know, the type of person he has, the type of football

26:34

IQ he has, the type of football character he

26:36

has all you know, the toughness that he has,

26:38

how much he loves football right Uh,

26:40

and he's just gonna keep keep extending.

26:43

You know, I've all I was always taught those are the types of guys

26:45

that reached their their ceiling. And I don't know if

26:47

we know what what a ceiling is going to be. I know this, I

26:49

know he's getting better every day and he's

26:51

he's committed that. And that's a good thing for the rest of your team

26:53

when you're when your best players and your captain's getting

26:55

better every day, especially

26:58

fired up on the I mean obviously you're

27:00

pried up a lot of night, especially

27:02

till in the Zach Pascal touchdown there that

27:05

fake scream to God or um what each

27:07

either. I love Zach Pascal, Um.

27:10

You know, UM, he Zach

27:13

Pascal for the five years

27:15

or the four years I've been with him. UM

27:17

has always done the dirty work, always

27:19

UM. And it's great when you can reward a guy

27:22

that does the dirty work, who might not have the stats,

27:24

um, but that you

27:27

know, it's it's awesome to be able to reward him for that.

27:29

And and that's what happens sometimes

27:31

when a guy's doing dirty work, everyone's focused

27:33

on the other guys. When he's doing the dirty work

27:35

that he ends up wide for touchdown. So

27:38

you know, Zack doing all those little things,

27:40

all the little things that are important to a football

27:42

team. Um, that's sweet,

27:45

right, And I loved it. I love to see that because

27:47

I love the guy. Um, you don't you're around

27:49

a guy for that long and not and not have a

27:51

good relationship with him. And I'm

27:53

so glad he's here. Um, I knew

27:55

he could do all the dirty work we wanted him

27:57

to do, and man, it was

28:00

that was that was sweet. Um. You know, I

28:02

think even I think, even to this

28:04

day, to this day, my son

28:06

and maybe not you, but is

28:09

that's one of his favorite players, is Zach Pascal.

28:11

Because I think what happens is

28:13

just the same thing that happened when I would go home and

28:15

hear my dad talk about the guys that he loved

28:18

on his football team or his track team.

28:20

You know, my son's heard you know, he's a little too

28:22

young, Taylor, Taylor's a little too young,

28:24

But they've heard me say so many things

28:27

good about Zach Pascal. It's is one of his favorite,

28:29

you know, favorite guys out there, so um,

28:32

yeah, it was awesome to get him to reward him

28:34

for all the hard work that he's done. Even

28:36

with all these wins, everyone seems to be emphasizing

28:38

that you haven't played a complete game yet. What

28:41

would a complete game look? Game look like? In

28:43

your eyes? I thought we had a good first

28:45

dance second half today. I do that's a good I

28:47

think that's a I think that's a good to make him.

28:50

I think that's a good football team. I know

28:52

that's the extremely well

28:54

coached football team. I can't

28:56

say enough good things that heyl

29:00

stuff that don't do that anymore. But I

29:02

can't say enough good things about coach Tomlin. I

29:05

mean his resume speaks for himself

29:08

that that's a really good team. And I think we played a pretty

29:10

complete game and we needed to today to

29:12

be able to close that out. We really wanted to emphasize

29:14

how we start the second half. You know, we

29:16

have had some second half woes and we

29:19

we really traced it back to how we started second

29:21

half and it was good to be able to go down and

29:23

execute today. Um to start things

29:25

off to set the tone um that we

29:27

needed to play a good, a complete game, and

29:30

I thought I thought we did that. I thought we did a good

29:32

job of that today and it and it changes you

29:34

go. You go up three scores and you're at the end

29:36

of of course you're going to take some air out of that and

29:38

not be quite as aggressive and run the clock. And

29:41

so I thought today was was one of our most complete

29:43

games that we've had all year. Was there's something you guys

29:45

did during the bye week in terms of something you found

29:47

about the team that you've got showed itself to that. Yeah,

29:49

there was a lot um I really do like without

29:52

getting obviously, and I can give you all

29:54

the all the answers, but I think we we

29:56

we did a lot and the players went out and executed,

29:58

uh you know. We It's such an important

30:01

part of the process. The bye week is such an important

30:03

part of the process. You And it's not just

30:05

the coaches that that it's going

30:07

into Taylor, babystop. Okay, it's

30:09

not just the coaches. It's it's the entire building,

30:11

right, It's the analytics department, it's the strength and

30:13

conditioning staff of how we're going to finish

30:16

better in the second half that you know, we had our ideas

30:18

of how we wanted to start the second half better, but the strength

30:20

and conditioning staff and the training staff and the doctors

30:23

also had you know, Uh, I

30:25

don't, I don't. I'm not smart enough to say

30:27

the word that the how the body works there

30:29

going into the second half. And we'll do anything we can

30:32

to make this team better. And h and

30:34

just a credit obviously all the credit goes to

30:36

the guys, but so many parts

30:39

of this organization. Mister Lori

30:41

is you know, the head of this organization, and

30:43

he and he is always

30:45

he supports us in everything and uh

30:47

in all departments and and then you see

30:50

something like that after a bye week and all the hands on deck.

30:52

Um, that's why it's the greatest team game, because it's

30:54

not just the coaches and players. It's the front office,

30:56

it's the analytics department, it's the equipment staff

30:58

with with Greg all right, it's Tom in

31:01

the security right, it's it's it's everybody.

31:03

It's Ted in his his strength and conditioning

31:05

staff, it's Tom all right in the in the

31:07

U, in the training

31:09

staff, and I'm Pat Dolan and the

31:12

video staff. It's every we asked fat

31:14

doling for everything and how many different things can you give

31:16

us in cut ups? And so uh yeah,

31:18

I can't say enough good things about the organization Jalon's

31:21

development. What does it say about weird dsers quarterback

31:24

that he can have this type of game with wod

31:26

rushing the whole plus laughs

31:28

them. Uh, you know,

31:31

it's it's It says a lot. I mean, because you want to

31:33

be able to win many different ways. And he went out there

31:35

and he uh he executed, baby don't all

31:37

right? He executed today um and

31:40

um, you know in the air

31:42

um and through some great deep balls and and read

31:44

the defense well. And he just continues

31:46

to develop. One of the meetings,

31:49

Uh, you

31:51

wouldn't mention a couple of six

31:54

and over team seven and one whatever

31:56

coming out against teams

31:58

that weren't doing as well and

32:00

kind of lay today. What does it show

32:03

you about your team that

32:05

they came off to buy in that type

32:07

of situation. We got great We got great leaders,

32:10

right John, We got great leaders that are um

32:13

that are making sure. I don't know who wrote

32:15

who wrote it earlier today, but I got the thing on my

32:18

update on my phone was like Robert Quinn uh

32:20

fletch went right up to him and said, hey, we practice hard

32:22

here, And Robert Quinn said, that's all I needed to hear. How

32:25

awesome is that? Right? The best teams that I've

32:27

been around practice hard and uh

32:30

and and that's and they just they picked

32:32

up the process of what they we've done each and

32:34

every week, and they just picked it up. They got their

32:36

rest, but then they came back ready to go. And that doesn't happen

32:38

unless you have great people on your team and you have

32:40

great leadership under team. We're gonna go, Chris and that John,

32:43

Yeah, we have a guy like a j

32:45

grout number one quarterback has that how

32:47

much does you know? You know what helped quarterback?

32:50

But what is all to do for the rest of the receivers

32:52

so that we get open? That's basically my old

32:55

Zack pass. Yeah, help,

32:58

Well, when you have a j when you have Devonte,

33:00

when you have Dallas, Like all the attention was

33:02

on Dallas on that play on Zach's

33:05

touchdown, right, and so you got these playmakers

33:08

and then you got guys making plays off of them because

33:10

of the attentions on them. And and that doesn't

33:12

just go It also goes for the run game as well,

33:14

and you know, we felt like the

33:17

way the game played today, we didn't run it as quite as much

33:19

as we normally do, and it was great to be

33:21

able to win that way. And uh, but Aja

33:23

opens up, Davante opens up, and so does Dallas

33:25

opens up the run game as well. John,

33:28

I think you mentioned jayalas development.

33:31

They're just wondering what you've seen from him in that department,

33:33

probably you know, the play game things that go

33:35

to Welton now when you guys are just cruising, how

33:38

he's handled that development also,

33:40

especially the pressure, but I would imagine goes

33:42

when playing that position in the city. Yeah, j

33:45

Jalen is ultra focused and

33:48

he's focused on the process and how

33:50

he gets better every day. And he's not focused

33:52

on what his next contract might

33:54

be, or what what we're gonna do in three

33:56

weeks, or what the outcome of

33:58

this season is or or anything

34:00

like that. All he's focused on is day by day

34:03

and he and he's in a leader of

34:05

our team. That's huge, right because then everybody falls

34:08

falls with that, and so he's just

34:11

it says if he had grown up in a football

34:13

household and he knows what to do and he knows

34:15

how to handle the waves

34:17

of a season, because there are waves of the season,

34:19

but it's important that we don't ride that those

34:21

waves, right, And I know you guys got you

34:23

guys got a job, a really hard job

34:25

that you gotta feel like and you got you got

34:28

a whole week into well four days today where

34:30

when we play next you there's got to be a lot of stories,

34:32

so there can be a lot of d riding of the wave.

34:34

But Jalen doesn't allow himself to do that. And

34:37

and I'm done answering your question unless I

34:39

did I answer that, And I just wanted to say,

34:41

like, unbelievable. I've been

34:43

to I've been to stadiums where Steeler

34:45

fans take over, but no

34:47

way did I think that would ever happen

34:49

in Philadelphia. And I barely saw any

34:51

of now I could, I barely saw any of those

34:54

terrible towels. I didn't see any any of

34:56

those Our fans came out and supported

34:58

us. It was unbelievable. But um

35:01

my, uh my mom's cousin,

35:03

I'm not even I'm not even claiming them.

35:05

And they didn't sit in our sections. They just live in Philly

35:08

and they grew up in Pittsburgh. You guys saw something.

35:10

My parents grew up in Pittsburgh and everything like that, And

35:13

and my mom's cousin and she's like, hey, they

35:15

want to say hello to you before the game. I'm like, well, they

35:17

know they can't wear steels stuff. And coming out

35:19

of silence, she's like, well, we're not giving them on the sideline

35:21

and they were wearing they were wearing Steelers

35:23

gear. So I just the cute

35:25

Christmas cards with this one and this one

35:27

and my other son. They will not be receiving

35:30

one of those cute Christmas cards this week, but

35:32

so much of a shout out to our fans of

35:34

coming out, not giving like just

35:37

this Philly, this is Philly, this is what Philly's,

35:39

what makes Philly is one of the best, the

35:41

best sports town in America.

35:44

It's freaking awesome. Right. We've taken

35:46

over stadiums in Arizona, they took over a stadium

35:49

in Washington. And then like

35:52

when a team that like Pittsburgh travels, well,

35:54

no traveling here because none of our guys, none of our

35:56

our people, gave up tickets. And then my mom,

35:59

my mom's and I'm not claiming they won't

36:01

get a Christmas card. He coach, we got

36:03

one. Yeah, here is

36:06

with us today. She's a more more flag

36:08

Football League participants sheet.

36:11

A question for yeah, so would be

36:13

more like quick turnaround for

36:15

next week? Thirty applayment action. What

36:18

do you hope to emphasize with the team history.

36:20

Well, well, it's all about recovery. And those

36:22

guys are in there right now because we just have such

36:25

an unbelievable training staff of strength staff,

36:27

um uh, training, the

36:29

trainers and the doctors. They're in there

36:31

getting massages right now, eating the right thing. So

36:34

it's that quick turnaround is you know, what

36:36

are we going to do to make sure that our bodies

36:39

are ready to go? Um you

36:41

know, coaches have a short, short turnaround

36:43

as well. We got to make sure that we uh,

36:45

you know, get the plan together for for our

36:47

guys, that you know that on

36:50

a short week, and that our guys can go and go

36:52

out and execute. So great question, Thanks

36:54

Nia. Next, All right, guys, thanks, we're out.

36:58

It's a family affair except for Aunt

37:00

Susie in Pittsburgh. It's not a

37:02

good day for her. No, it's

37:05

very filly. Now you don't ride with him. You're

37:07

done right either. You're all in or

37:10

you're all as we know for Lane

37:12

Johnson with us, how boy fan relatives

37:14

doesn't fly here? Love it well.

37:16

He was asked a little bit about Jalen Hurts,

37:18

and we know Jalen Hurts in the way that he described

37:20

him as he doesn't ride the waves. He doesn't get

37:23

honestly, he doesn't get anywhere down the road.

37:25

He doesn't look anywhere past what he's doing

37:28

right now in this moment. But you have

37:30

to kind of look back and look at where

37:32

he's come up until this point. And

37:34

today he surpassed Carson Wentz and Donovan McNabb

37:37

for the longest active wind Street.

37:39

He's at ten straight regular season

37:41

games now as a starter, which is very impressive.

37:44

But when you think about what he's been able to do and the

37:46

journey he has been on to see him throw four

37:48

touchdown passes today, it's kind of remarkable.

37:50

I continue to be amazed about his kid

37:53

and his growth at the quarterback position

37:55

almost night and day. From what you saw last year

37:57

and even the short period he played in his rookie

38:00

season. He looks like a polished NFL

38:02

quarterback right there right now. He's confident, he

38:04

knows where he wants to go with the ball. You know, I'll

38:06

watch him on those deep throws to

38:09

aj the second touchdown, in the third

38:11

touchdown, when he gets to that back foot,

38:13

he lets the ball go. He knows exactly

38:15

where he wants to go with it. He sees that man and man

38:17

coverage out there, and he says that safety

38:20

is not going to be able to get over there in time. That's Mica

38:22

Fitzpatrick back there, and that's an arguably

38:24

one of the best safeties in the game today.

38:27

So to be able to get those throws over

38:29

the top with number thirty nine hanging back

38:31

there, that's just let you know where Jalen

38:33

hurts is that. I don't know if he attempts those throws

38:36

last year, because I know he's mindful

38:39

not putting the ball in harm's way. But when

38:41

you watch those touchdown passes, that looks

38:43

like a quarterback to me that has all the confidence

38:46

in his arm and his ability and more

38:48

importantly in the guy that he's throwing the ball

38:50

to giving him an opportunity to make a play.

38:53

Those weren't easy throws over the shoulder,

38:55

tight window. That was

38:57

good coverage that they had on a J. Brown.

39:00

It was just a better throw it just browsing through

39:02

just some of my notes real quick. Four of those

39:04

touchdowns that he threw today, right, he threw four passing

39:06

touchdowns. Three of those touchdowns came

39:08

on plays after there was a negative

39:11

or no game the previous play. So when

39:13

Nick Sirianni talks about he's not a guy that rides

39:15

the wave, he's not going to be like this off

39:17

the field. Yeah, absolutely true. On the field,

39:19

that's the same way with Jalen. Look, it was not always

39:22

pretty. It was a really good stat line today.

39:24

Not all of those passes were beautiful, not

39:26

all. You know, some of those sacks were tough sacks

39:28

to take. But Jalen Hurts is unflappable

39:31

if he has fights through adversity, so so well

39:33

continues to be one of the most impressive

39:35

traits about what he brings to this team was

39:37

tight end. Just talk to him reporters

39:40

in the locker room. Here's what he had to say about

39:42

Jalen Hurts's development him

39:45

all along. You know, there was a

39:47

lot of stuff

39:49

in the air if Jalen was going to be the guy, But everybody

39:51

in the building knew he was the guy. He was going to

39:53

be the guy. That was never a question

39:55

in any of our minds. And you know, throwing

39:58

with him all offseason, he just he

40:00

was swinging out of things, zipping it, you

40:02

know, and then you start camping. He

40:04

starts making checks, making reads, throws

40:07

on time, goes through his progression. It's the open

40:09

guy. It's fun to see, it's fun to play with. When

40:11

you got a quarterback there can deal it like you guys,

40:14

I wasn't any question now.

40:16

Jalen Hurts also through the Dallas Goddard six

40:18

times today. Earlier

40:21

Sirianni said, you know, you might not

40:23

have seen him scoring touchdown today, but he is such

40:25

an impact player on this offense. He was still

40:27

making plays and he's such a big reason

40:29

as to why this offense rolls. Here's like

40:31

two straight games where you don't realize that Dallas

40:34

Goddard had a pretty good game down throw on the

40:36

field. Obviously, aj is catching

40:38

the touchdown passes, but Dallas

40:40

being able to extend drives key third

40:42

down catches. And I still love to see

40:44

him with the ball in his hand after he catches

40:47

the ball because you rarely bring him down with

40:49

one defender. He's a strong runner, he's

40:51

a smart runner, and the fact

40:53

that he's a huge target for Jalen

40:56

that gives him all the confidence to be able to put that

40:58

ball anywhere and Dallas will come up with it. Yeah,

41:00

Ellie, you mentioned he was targeted six times. He caught

41:02

all six of those targets, and not all of them

41:04

were like easy little screen passes either.

41:06

A couple of them were intermediate, like those sail routes

41:08

along the sideline. He saw the one hander behind

41:11

them on the shallow cross. So Dallas

41:13

godd are continuing to make some of those really impressive

41:16

tough catches at all areas of the field.

41:18

If you told me when twenty twenty one ended that

41:21

this Eagles team would only rush for twenty

41:23

three yards in the first half, I would not believe

41:25

you, because last year that was the bread and butter. They were

41:27

just running the ball down their throats. Twenty

41:29

three yards on the ground in the first half. They ended the day

41:31

with over one hundred. But the way that they're

41:33

able to adjust, you know, it was tough to

41:35

get the ball going in the first half, but they also didn't need

41:37

to because they were so successful in throwing

41:39

the ball down the field. I just think it's so interesting

41:42

to see the leap that this offense is made

41:44

from last year to this year. Yeah. I mean, they're

41:46

not a one dimensional offense, and they can throw

41:48

the ball. If you want to load the box to try to stop

41:50

the run, then they're gonna throw the ball on the outside

41:53

when there's one on one covers there. And then if

41:55

you want to play a two high safety to keep the ball

41:57

from going over your head, that's a lightbox.

41:59

They're going to run the football, and that's what they did. When they

42:01

came out at halftime. They realized Pitchburgh said,

42:03

okay, we got to start giving a little help over the top

42:06

to some of these guys, and Miles Sanders was

42:08

able to break off some big runs there. What did

42:10

that do? That opened up the play action pass for

42:12

the offense. So I'm not concerned about

42:15

the running game. Sometimes you think, okay,

42:17

did we forget we can run the football, But then

42:19

you have to realize, no, this is what the deepness

42:21

is dictating that we do. And they threw

42:23

the ball with so much success it forced Pitchburg

42:26

to come out of that defense they were in and

42:28

then we were able to run the ball in the second half. Yeah,

42:30

only thirty one snaps in the first half

42:32

from this Eagle's offense, and we talked about it on the Kickoff

42:34

Show. The secondary for Pittsburgh,

42:37

they've been banged up throughout the year. I thought that

42:39

they were really good at the catchpoint, but they

42:41

gave up a lot of separation and we saw that in

42:43

this game. They gave up a bunch of explosive plays

42:46

coming in. Well, they gave up a bunch of explosive

42:48

plays going out here. In Week eight,

42:50

we have another question for Ike. Let's see what the fans

42:53

have to say and or ask Ike sayment think

42:57

Robert Quinn will fit into this defensive scheme

42:59

moving forward close to a few sacks in the fourth

43:01

quarter. I think Robert Quinn is gonna

43:03

fit in here very nicely. We're talking about a guy that has

43:05

over a hundred sacks in his career.

43:08

He can come, he can roll out of bed and rush the passer.

43:10

It's just about getting familiar with the

43:12

defensive schemes, what's his responsibility

43:15

in those games, and then accepting his role.

43:17

He understands he's coming to a good deepense. We

43:19

have a defensive line where we rotate, so

43:21

he may not play as many snaps as he was playing

43:23

out there in Chicago. But he's gonna benefit

43:26

from being fresher throughout the game and he

43:28

can rush the passer. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised

43:30

if he does get if he doesn't get his first Eagle

43:32

sack this next game, because he was close on a couple

43:35

of those today. Yeah, there are a number of flags

43:37

in this game. The couple that could have been some offensive

43:39

holding on some of those pass rushers. The Eagles could have had

43:41

more than six sacks in this game. But Robert

43:44

Quinn, he can get off the ball. We saw that first step, the

43:46

first step a number of times today. Well if you're a vet though,

43:48

so this situation where it is a rotation

43:50

may actually end up working in his favor. Give

43:52

his legs a little bit of a break so he can really still

43:55

play to his high stability. I really believe

43:57

it will. I mean, this guy, he had eighteen and a half sacks

43:59

last year. He didn't even get how to rush the passer. Yeah,

44:02

one year he's playing out there in Chicago. No

44:04

disrespect to Chicago, but he's probably the best guy

44:06

on their deepest line. Khalil Mack isn't

44:08

there anymore, So you get a lot of offenses that

44:10

are going to focus their blocking schemes

44:12

on him. I think he was either the second or third

44:14

highest rush and to be

44:17

a double team this season. That's how that's how

44:19

much double team. And he was getting out there in Chicago.

44:21

You're not gonna be able to do that here because Hassan Reddick

44:24

is out there, So you have to focus on where he's

44:26

at. I think Robert Quinn is gonna love playing

44:28

his defense because now he has playmakers

44:31

all around him and it's going to allow him

44:33

to be the best that he can be. Yeah, you talk

44:35

about a guy that can get the football on the ground

44:37

as well get the ball back for his offense. Seven

44:39

forced fumbles a couple of years ago. All Right, we

44:41

have the quarterback himself, Jalen Hurts at the podium.

44:47

We pushed out passing a quarter

44:50

red zone, double coverage, perfect

44:53

strike. Teach what you're

44:55

next. Cloud of Zoe wasn't like U

45:00

you know, I don't know. I guess I

45:02

wasn't the zone. I feel like I could have done more,

45:04

feel like, uh, you

45:07

know, you look at the third quarter. I think

45:09

there was an opportunity

45:11

to make some plays. Um had some negative

45:14

plays there. I think two minute

45:16

drive before half

45:18

time took some sacks and I feel like

45:20

I could have avoid it, probably could have

45:22

got the ball out, Um.

45:25

And then we kind of kind of started off hitting

45:27

something low, you know, And so

45:29

a testment to the to the receivers. We have the

45:32

protection we had all day, Um, and you

45:35

know we were on waivering, you know what I'm saying. And I think

45:37

we just kind of kept focused

45:40

to playing to the standard and chasing that, you

45:42

know what I mean. And hell of a game

45:44

by aj. You know, he's making

45:46

big time plays. I know you're wanting something back for sure,

45:49

UM, but hell of a game by him. Can

45:52

you break down how much you're improved

45:55

this year? Is you and more

45:57

people to get better? Yea?

45:59

How much of the guys rounding with you, guys

46:01

around you've got better or guys you had. It's

46:05

hard for me to really talk about myself

46:07

and that in that standpoint, Um,

46:09

people don't see the work that's put in not

46:12

just by me individually, but by

46:14

a j by Smitty Um by

46:16

Dallas guarded by Jason Kelsey,

46:19

you know, by our miles by Um

46:21

Nick Sirianni by everybody. You know, it takes

46:24

work, and it's a grind. And

46:27

the beautiful thing about this team is

46:30

we've grinded together. We've had OTAs,

46:32

we've had training camp, we bonded, we we put

46:34

it in, put in so much valuable time together

46:37

to chase this

46:41

feeling of achievement and chase

46:44

this feeling of you know, going out

46:46

there and playing at the hot level. So not

46:49

I tell you, after after

46:51

every game, I feel like there's there's always much

46:54

more out there for us to do. You know. Obviously

46:56

we have a short week this week, so it's a different mentality

46:59

as well. But it's

47:01

a testament to the work we put in as a team. You

47:03

know, it's no man is an island. You gotta

47:06

draw your strength from others. And you

47:08

know, when a guy may miss a throw low, or

47:11

guy may miss a miss a pass or miss

47:14

a block or whatever, we got each other back. We

47:16

got each other's back. Um,

47:19

what's what's that life? And I ball up

47:21

to him and having to come down with

47:23

interest at the time. I

47:26

have a lot of trust in Aja, have a lot of trust

47:28

in him. I think that's a lot of the reason

47:30

why he's here. Um. And you

47:32

know, we've We've always had a great relationship,

47:34

and I think it's been beautiful to see

47:36

how it's unfolded throughout

47:39

the year. How that, you know, personally

47:41

for him and I and also us

47:43

on the field. You know, I've

47:45

always had a lot of admiration for his mentality,

47:48

his want to and he's

47:52

been doing great things for us. I'm proud of him as a

47:54

friend and as a quarterback.

47:57

Whatever you do, you gotta do something before is that headway

48:00

or just where you were that way.

48:04

I call him formative experiences, call

48:06

him formative experiences. I think I've endured

48:09

a lot. I think I've been

48:11

fortunate to go through things that have built character

48:13

and me. They have made

48:16

me a stronger individual, stronger man, and

48:18

it's allowed me to understand the points of competition,

48:21

the importance of seeing something through, and

48:24

the importance of working for what you want. And

48:27

I'm just always prided myself on that.

48:29

And that's something that I saw my dad do as a kid.

48:32

I saw how he handled being a coach.

48:34

I saw how he uplifted the people around him,

48:36

how he was a service to the kids, high

48:38

school kids. I saw my mom

48:41

did it, I saw everybody did it. And I was just always

48:43

trying to learn from the people around me the

48:46

work that goes into a jail. And

48:48

when we were talking to h he

48:51

kind of you don't wanted to bring up the place

48:53

he didn't make anyfore he talked about

48:55

the place he did. You're the same way.

48:58

It does. It take work to do that to

49:00

get that find set. But it

49:02

seems that a lot of players have on this steam. Now.

49:04

I don't think it takes work. I think you either have it or

49:07

you don't. I think the great

49:09

players are eager to

49:11

be the best and be the best all the time. And

49:14

when you look at the opportunities that you didn't take advantage

49:16

of, you know, like you can go out there

49:19

and you'll have a statistically

49:21

perfect game, catch every ball or do everything,

49:23

but there's always something. There's always something

49:26

and enough is never enough, and

49:29

we just strive for that. We strive for you

49:31

know, we strive for something that we may never get,

49:34

but we continue to go chase it

49:38

said that first touchdown. It wasn't

49:40

supposed to content designed

49:44

that play work. When we said that play

49:48

year, you have to be were it all ties to

49:50

wall might be coming to Yeah, that's

49:52

one thing I try and tell all the receivers is you

49:55

know, although the balls is not supposed to

49:57

go to you, be aware because I

50:00

may see something on the field that

50:02

man enticed me to make that throat to him. So I

50:05

always encouraged them to be ready at

50:07

all times and run every

50:09

route to win. And he did a

50:11

great job today being ready in a couple

50:13

of different situations and

50:15

we made some big time players. I'm proud of him. It's

50:18

mean for you to go home down the teams,

50:21

you know, seven and old you're playing like this, or

50:23

your friends and family going to get to see him. What is that

50:26

going to be like? I think, um

50:29

going back, going back home and playing in Houston. It's

50:31

always been a dream of mine and

50:33

I never had the opportunity to go playing and reliant

50:36

as a kid now known as NRG, I

50:39

spent a lot of time in the Houston

50:41

Texas Facility, Houston Texas

50:43

Facility, my godfather being

50:45

on staff as a child, and

50:48

I have a lot of memories at that place. So it'll

50:50

be it'll be exciting, and I think we've definitely

50:53

transitioned fairly quickly. You

50:55

know, we talked about having a twenty four hour rule and

50:58

you know, enjoyed for twenty four hours where and

51:00

we ain't got we ain't got that much time having a Thursday

51:03

night game. So I think the team

51:05

is going to enjoy it for I

51:08

gave him like eight o'clock to night or so after after

51:10

they eat dinner or something like that. But um, come back

51:12

tomorrow when we go, when we go to the facility

51:14

and re lock in and and attacked

51:17

upon it, that's in front of us.

51:21

I'm not sure, it seems for

51:23

two years when we've asked you about the passing

51:25

game, you've spoken about efficiency and

51:28

consistency to have this type of

51:30

performance where you I think you run

51:33

the VA only twice. What is I'm

51:35

that to say about your development as a pastor? Yeah,

51:38

I think I think it's bigger than just

51:40

the overall development of one

51:42

part of my game. Think it's

51:44

about being able

51:47

to be a threat

51:49

in many different ways. And that's something that a

51:52

guy like me, I have the ability to do that naturally,

51:56

being able to run and you know, we talk

51:59

about doing that that I like to call it a triple threat.

52:01

You know, you have to you know, be able

52:03

to kill them with your legs at times and make

52:07

the throws when you need to in the passing game and

52:10

killing what you killing them with, killing them with

52:12

your mind and what you what you see

52:14

and how you react, you know, because

52:16

you get into a point where you

52:18

get different looks and they try to get you,

52:20

but you just want to try and be ready for all of those looks

52:23

and have an answer for it. Um. And

52:25

that's that testament to the preparation, to the

52:27

to the people that have around me, and

52:30

you know, it's just it's just an uphill

52:32

climb. That's what we always talk about. It's

52:34

an uphill climb. So that's

52:37

that's what it is, you know what I mean. And I

52:39

honestly feel like there is no arrival. There

52:42

is no arrival. You will never get to a point where

52:44

you say I've arrived. There is no arrival. There's

52:46

only the journey. And I've embraced

52:49

that journey and I'll continue to

52:51

do that and take it day by day and just try and climb.

52:55

Say more your arm or you're buying It was

52:58

everything. It was every thing. It was the whole trip

53:00

of threat, you know. And I think it's

53:03

attestment to the preparation. Like I said, Um,

53:05

the guys around me AJ making big time

53:08

plays that coming in and making big time plays

53:10

well deserved. Um,

53:13

it's it's, it's, it's it's important, you

53:15

know, the preparation. How good is it go to

53:17

have guys like you know, like AJ and

53:20

people like I mean the DeVante Smith

53:22

and and Dallas

53:24

Got or how comforting him that

53:27

that you can go to any one of those guys and also

53:29

get other guys involved. Yeah, when

53:31

when you're on the high Street like everyfore, you know, it's

53:35

I have far with it because I've

53:38

seen all of these guys do amazing things. I've

53:40

seen DeVante Smith do crazy

53:42

things in college. I've seen AJ

53:44

as a friend, as a fan take

53:48

slants seventy. You know, I've

53:50

seen Dallas got To make the craziest catches

53:52

in the game and in practice. Um

53:55

So when I see him make those plays in the game or

53:57

better, Yeah, when I'm playing with him in the game, I'm like,

54:00

I got my popcorn radio. After I throw them the ball,

54:02

I don't want to make sure I'll do my job to getting from the ball

54:04

and then I can I can be a fan and kind

54:06

of watch them go to work. I mean, I think that's

54:08

just a testament to them you know, and I

54:11

think for us, you know, it looks

54:13

differently by the day, but we always prepare

54:16

together, and we always going

54:18

to the field going to a game

54:20

trying to be on the same page. And

54:23

I think that's allowed us to be productive and

54:25

we just want to continue to building it. Okay,

54:28

thanks guys. Thanks, that

54:32

was Jalen Hurds diving into the offense.

54:34

But earlier today, friends, if you broke down

54:37

the big sack, Hassan Reddick set the tone

54:39

with in the first quarter. So here's his Rereaco review.

54:44

All right, so this week here on the Reco Review, want to rewind

54:46

all the way back to the first third down of the game

54:48

for this Eagles defense, third and long. What

54:51

does this defense look like coming out of the bye week.

54:53

Well, they run a really creative stunt

54:55

on third down. Now, the Eagles coming into

54:57

this game had run less stunts than anybody

55:00

in the NFL, and so adding this wrinkle

55:02

to the pressure scheme impressive to see

55:04

from Jonathan Gannett and this Eagles defensive coaching

55:07

staff. What you're gonna get is a unique alignment.

55:09

This sack is gonna come from Hassan Reddick,

55:11

who has lined up inside over

55:13

the left guard. Now, let's just take a look at the alignment

55:16

of everybody else here. At right

55:18

defensive end, you've got Josh Sweat in his normal

55:20

spot, but everyone else has some

55:22

creative alignments. Here. You've got Hassan

55:24

Reddick over the guard, You've got Javon Hargrave

55:27

over the center. Here, you've got

55:29

Brandon Graham, and all the way out of defensive

55:32

end, you've got Fletcher Cox. So right now,

55:34

alarm bells are going off in the heads

55:36

of every single Pittsburgh Steeler involved

55:38

with the protection scheme. We're gonna let this run for a

55:40

second, and let's just take a look at the stunt the Eagles

55:43

run. This is a three man game, often referred

55:45

to as a pirate stunt, where you've got

55:47

the two defensive lineman inside

55:49

they're slanting, and then you're gonna get

55:51

the looping rush from

55:54

Hassan Reddick coming all the way around. When

55:56

you have these three man stunts, that's

55:58

tough to pick up as an offensive nan.

56:00

And you could tell this right guard he has

56:02

no idea that Hassan Reddick is looping

56:04

all the way around here, and he's going to close

56:06

in on the rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett.

56:09

We can let this run and you can really see the

56:11

athleticism from Hassan Reddick

56:13

I really put on display. He turns that corner.

56:15

Josh Sweat was right there as well to combine

56:17

for the sack. But a creative rush

56:19

there from the Eagles defensive line,

56:22

all the different alignments you get the three man

56:24

stunt. They get home for a sack on the first

56:26

third down of the game. Now

56:31

is your chance to vote for the Toyota Player of

56:33

the Week. Go to Philadelphia Eagles dot com slash

56:35

Toyota Player of the Week to cast your vote and

56:37

get a chance at a brand new Toyota.

56:40

All right, three nominees, here we go. Number

56:42

one Surprise Surprise eight Jay

56:44

Brown six receptions, one hundred and fifty

56:46

six yards, three touchdowns. Look at that yards

56:49

after the catch, all right. Next up, Javon

56:51

Hargrave against his former team.

56:53

This was a striped sack that Avonte

56:55

Maddox recovered and it later resulted in a

56:58

Miles Sanders touchdown. But

57:00

not least Jalen Hurts. You gotta give it

57:02

to the quarterback. Two hundred and eighty five passing

57:04

yards and four touchdowns through

57:06

the air. What do we think, guys, Well, we're not going

57:08

defense today, es, I'm

57:11

going Jalen Hurts. I mean, I'm a J.

57:13

Brown had a big day, but I think Jalen Hurts

57:15

with the type of throws that he made, I

57:18

was in press tight windows over the shoulder.

57:21

Yeah, Jalen Hurts was almost flawless today.

57:23

Yeah, fifteen years since we've seen an Eagles receiver

57:25

do what AJ Brown did today with over one hundred

57:27

and fifty yards and three touchdowns. I'm gonna go

57:29

number eleven here. I'm gonna go a J. Brown with

57:31

the big day. All right, we'll get your votes in now.

57:34

You heard Jalen Hurts. You have about till eight pm

57:36

and then we're turning the page. It's onto the Houston

57:38

Texans. So for tonight's Jamison night cap, let's

57:41

look ahead to Thursday nights opponent, another

57:43

night for prime time for the Eagles. They

57:45

are one four and one currently,

57:48

they sent fourth in the AFC South quarterback

57:51

he's doing all right, fifty percent

57:53

completion rate, eleven yards right

57:55

now and an interception. What do we think

57:58

about Thursday, guys, short

58:00

week? Yeah, obviously it's an interior

58:02

opponent and as long as the Eagles are

58:05

preparing as if they're playing an undefeated

58:08

team, it shouldn't be a

58:10

difficult match out for him. But on a short

58:12

week and on the road, I would expect

58:14

Houston to come out at least gamed and ready

58:16

to play. It's really about the Eagles from

58:18

this point on right not playing down

58:21

to anybody else's level. Seeing if these

58:23

teams can play at that level. They're the best in the

58:25

league right now, so that's the way they need to

58:27

go. I think offensively, they've got a couple of

58:29

young playmakers there. Davis Mills actually playing pretty

58:31

well. I've been impressed with watching the second year

58:33

quarterback, former third round pick out of Stanford.

58:36

He is really cool and collected. He's making

58:38

tough throws, he's accurate, he's got a good arm.

58:41

And then Damian Pierced, the rookie running

58:43

back, is running his tail off. He is

58:45

really fun to watch, really violent as a runner.

58:47

Defensively, they've got two more young playmakers

58:49

there in Jalen Petrie, the safety, the rookie

58:51

second round pick, and Derek Stingley Junior, a

58:53

top five pick. Both guys playmakers

58:55

in that secondary that you've got to be aware of in Lovey Smith

58:58

scheme. And when you look at their schedules, interesting, I gotta

59:00

get through Thursday night, but then they'll have all for the weekend

59:02

and the following weekend because they don't play until

59:05

Monday night. So if they can have this quick turnaround

59:07

and not let this one, you know, get out

59:09

of their sight, they have a good stretch

59:11

coming up as well. Yeah, it's a good football team.

59:14

Now, it's just going to be whether or

59:16

not they're planning to their standard. You're

59:19

the best team in the league. You

59:21

become the team that everybody circles

59:23

on their calendar, not as if it's going to be an easy win,

59:26

but they know you are the best team, so they

59:28

don't want to get embarrassed. They're typically gonna bring

59:30

their gig. They're good effort the end. But the

59:32

Eagles, you look at you live at the schedule right here, man, the

59:34

Eagles have a chance to run off a

59:37

few more ws. I Yeah,

59:39

and look when you look at the injuries and some of the

59:43

teams coming up on the schedule here. But again,

59:45

it's gonna go back on what Nick Sirianni Jalen

59:47

hurts. The rest of this this this team has preached

59:50

and it's a it's every seventeen one

59:52

game schedules. It'll be big for

59:54

this team moving forward. All right, Well, that'll do

59:56

it for us here on the postgame show, Big

59:59

night, Thursday night. Okay, I know we got the

1:00:01

Phillies coming up. Can the Phillies beat

1:00:03

Houston? Can the Eagles beat Houston? It's big week

1:00:05

for Phillies sports fans. But I'll do it for us myself,

1:00:07

friend Duffie and I Greece. Thank you so much for tuning

1:00:10

into the postgame show and go Birds.
