Summary:
The Bennet girls to visit the Lucas’ to discuss the ball. Sir Lucas was the former mayor of the area, and for his work he was granted the rank of knighthood. The eldest of their daughters is Elizabeth’s best friend. They talk all about who danced with whom, and gossip a dreadful amount about all of the guests, more specifically, Mr Bingley and his rude friend Mr Darcy. Mrs Lucas pardons Darcy’s behaviour, claiming that he has a right to be proud. Lizzy does agree with this, and says that she could have forgiven him for his behaviour had he not slighted her own pride.
