Millions of Americans receive a tax refund year after year. According to data from the IRS, between 70 and 75% of those who file their taxes get a refund, with the typical refund amounting to between $2,500 and $3,000. Contrary to many people's beliefs, this isn't free money. This money was entitled to you all along, you just overpaid your taxes throughout the year.
