In the same episode, the same person (who works in comedy and therefore knows first hand about the abuse women in the same career as him have suffered for decades) keeps referencing how cool sexual abuser Louis CK is, and then argues that child-rapist Roman Polanski can't be THAT bad if he made such a good film as Chinatown.Seeing who some of their recurring guests are, it seems blatant sexism is very much part of their brand. Okay, I guess.
The Flop House has been around for a long time and has given me countless laughs. Love these dudes.
More Halley!!
In each episode, the three hosts recap and discuss a bad movie, which makes for a surprisingly good podcast. I mean, there are literally thousands of shows where three guys talk about movies, but almost none are this sharp and funny. The hosts have excellent chemistry and have built up a great community around the show—the "letters from listeners" segment in each episode is always a lot of fun.
An awesome review of bad movies. Don't like movies? - Never mind - the movies are just a vehicle for the real purpose of the podcast - which is to rhyme words, make jokes and other general nonsense.
I mostly listen to tech, sports, and interview podcasts. The Flop House is the ONLY entertainment-related show that I regularly listen to. And it is my favorite podcast, hands-down. I’d recommend starting with these episodes: Bullet to the Head (08-24-13), Winter’s Tale (04-04-15), and Fateful Findings (09-19-15). Long live the original peaches.
I love this podcast. I often find myself laughing so hard at this show that the people around me give me weird looks, but it's all worth it. There is also a long backlog filled with hilarious episodes of questionable audio quality.
This is the third podcast I ever listened to, and I still relisten to old episodes when I’m feeling down. They watch and discuss “flops” (either critical or financial), rate them, and offer recommendations of good movies to watch instead. My favorites: Food Fight, Suicide Squad, The Meg, Geostorm, Cats (2019). Hallie is my favorite guest host. Also Stuart is one heck of a GM. I love all the bonus content from this show. (You have to be a donor to hear it, and yes, it’s worth every cent.)
