0:19
Hi guys . So
0:21
we are trying to sit here and figure out some
0:23
microphone things , but once again we
0:25
are going to talk about Wildly Native or for the first time , Lizzy,
0:28
Liza and Amber sitting
0:30
here, talking and laughing and giggling and
0:33
cussing every once in a while about flowers .
0:34
about flowers .
0:36
But for today we are
0:38
going to sit and
0:40
talk about Wildly Native
0:42
. What is it ? What is a Wildly
0:44
Native ? Why is Wildly Native
0:46
? Where is Wildly Native ? What's
0:49
it for ? Why do we do what we do and learn
0:52
some things that we don't do and that we might take
0:54
the do-do she
0:56
said do-do . So
0:59
, mom , this is you , take
1:01
it away . And yes , my mom
1:04
, you ask the first question
1:06
.
1:07
Okay , all right . So what do
1:09
we do and what we don't do
1:11
? There's a
1:13
lot of times where people have this misconception
1:16
of what we are and
1:18
what we do . So okay
1:20
, years and years ago , in a land far
1:23
away . No , I
1:25
was sitting in the John Deere
1:27
because it has to be green tractor office
1:30
buying our first tractor , and
1:32
my son was with me and he
1:35
was very little , he was
1:37
12 , that's what . I'm telling you that's
1:40
scary . And
1:42
we're sitting in there and they got to
1:44
the part where they had to fill out
1:46
the business name and I looked the gentleman's
1:49
square in the face and said , well , it's Wildly Native . He
1:51
goes huh
1:53
. She was like why we said do
1:56
you dance naked under the moonlight
1:58
? I
2:01
was like , oh my god , no , it's flowers
2:03
. So there's a lot of like . People
2:06
don't understand or they think
2:08
that what we do is 100%
2:10
native flowers and
2:13
we don't use 100%
2:15
native flowers . We grow what we
2:17
use for the majority of the time
2:20
. We don't just walk out into the field
2:22
, scatter seeds and say good luck
2:24
, we hope you grow .
2:26
Because that's what we're pulling
2:28
from to run the business .
2:29
Yeah , we need to know seed counts , we need to
2:31
know exactly what we have and look at crop
2:34
failures and look at all of those types
2:36
of things .
2:36
Cricket , caterpillars . those things this
2:38
year I hate it .
2:39
There's a lot of them . Oh
2:45
. the butterflies are so pretty, a lot of them .
2:48
Do you know what makes a
2:50
butterfly ? Caterpillars of doom
2:52
.
2:53
Yeah , not good , not good at all .
2:56
And , in all fairness , we don't plant in meadow
2:58
style either . We plant in
3:00
a traditional , organized setting
3:03
. Again , we know exactly how
3:05
many whites , how many ivory , how many
3:07
pink and yellow and
3:09
fuchsia .
3:11
And we've been really lucky to with knowing
3:13
a year ahead of time what color
3:15
schemes we're going to need to actually plant
3:18
for because of the brides that have booked
3:20
with us , that know what colors they
3:22
want and if they want more wildflowers . Honestly , those
3:24
are the best weddings that we do because it's fun
3:26
and different and
3:29
I think my favorite bouquet this year was
3:31
cut , put together and
3:33
picked up within the first hour
3:35
and a half that we had and it
3:37
was absolutely beautiful
3:40
. Dahlias, Zinnias, this
3:42
weird cold weather early
3:44
has triggered
3:47
some of our cool season flowers . To come back to
3:49
seeing summer florals with
3:51
spring is so weird
3:54
, but it's incredible
3:56
. We've got a bucket of Scabiosa
3:59
and Tithonia together , mixed
4:01
together . Yeah , we're saying it's in
4:03
Zinnias and Snap dragons .
4:04
Did I see calendula today ? Yeah Right
4:07
, it's literally right there . Wild
4:09
yeah .
4:10
Yeah , like you're still leaving the stone in spring
4:12
, like it's a bright , huge , almost
4:15
like an easy , but it's a bright floral
4:18
Like neon . It's
4:22
insane , but I think
4:24
we should talk about who we are
4:26
, who we are and who we are who's we . This
4:33
is true , this is true , this is
4:35
me .
4:35
These are all the voices in my head
4:37
.
4:39
Yeah , mom , you go first . Oh God
4:41
, okay , ceo of things , I'm just
4:43
the head mess .
4:48
So my name is Liza and
4:51
I am the very proud
4:53
owner of this awesome collection
4:55
of people who work together . Women own
4:58
and run .
5:00
Get it girl , yeah With a little
5:02
hand help every time Wow
5:04
.
5:04
Yeah , will does . No , hey , can you word of the that ? And then
5:06
he shows me how to do it , and so does Dylan and
5:08
so does Josh .
5:09
Every time we know a little muscle to help us out
5:11
, yeah , but most of the time it's
5:13
just us , yeah , delivering and all
5:16
of it . Who run the world ? Girls
5:19
, girls .
5:21
Girls , I don't know what are
5:23
you ? I don't know , that's me
5:25
.
5:25
Where'd you go to school ? I'm going to interview
5:28
you , okay , where'd you go to school ?
5:29
So my undergraduate degree is from
5:31
Delaware Valley University
5:34
in horticulture . Big surprised
5:36
. And for years and years and years I
5:38
thought I was going to
5:41
run a raspberry
5:44
farm . And
5:46
then life happened
5:48
and things changed . I had these
5:51
little people in my life that called
5:53
me mom and that kind of shifts things
5:55
a little . Yeah , just a
5:57
hair . And I got involved
5:59
in some Girl Scouts and some things
6:01
at church and stuff like that and really
6:04
found a passion for education . I loved teaching and
6:06
I was like wait a
6:08
minute , my kids are going to school . I want to
6:10
be able to do school things . I'm volunteering
6:13
. I was like wait a minute . So I went back and got
6:15
my master's in education and
6:18
taught ag for like 13 , 14
6:20
years at our local high school and then,
6:22
COVID
6:25
. I had an absolutely kick ass FFA
6:27
group like we built our FFA from like I
6:39
don't want to say nothing , but I
6:41
had incredible leadership over
6:44
time who taught me what
6:46
FFA was , and we just
6:48
grew and we were Placing
6:50
high in all kinds of competitions
6:53
. We were number four in the Northeast region .
6:57
I have to say , got me into a goal design .
6:58
Absolutely . It was the business group
7:01
that had placed really high . You
7:03
were in the full division , I mean . There
7:05
was so much stuff that kind of came from that
7:07
and
7:09
Connections and community and kids and
7:11
laughter , and you know , it
7:14
gave us a place to kind of play and I've
7:16
always grown things . I've
7:18
I've always done stuff . We
7:20
had a garden for I'm not . I would go out
7:22
with my mom and she would
7:24
plant things and she informed me later
7:26
that she would plant them and I would dig wh ich is opposite of what I do now .
7:36
Outside
7:39
had always been apart of who I am . So this was just kind of a natural bit . Flowers
7:41
and okay , I really
7:43
suck , but
7:54
I've always been able to grow flowers and the
7:56
one day they're the little tequila involved . But
7:59
I was sitting with my friend Cindy
8:01
and she's like , why don't you just grow
8:03
flowers ? I'm being me . She's like why don't you have
8:05
a flower farm ? I was like , why don't we
8:07
even like Costa Rica or something like that
8:10
? She's
8:12
like , all right , so I'm frozen
8:14
bars , so that's kind of I don't
8:16
know . It's kind of where it all
8:18
happened . Yeah , kind of how it started . I
8:21
think the most difficult years , business
8:24
wise , is when you're still balancing school
8:26
and being here definitely 100%
8:31
, and I definitely reached a place where I was like Okay
8:34
, I either , I'm a teacher , mm-hmm or
8:37
I'm a farmer , and then cove it happened and it just
8:39
shifted everything .
8:43
Yeah , I mean , we were one of the only
8:46
when COVID was at its peak and
8:48
mothers thing in Valentine's Day and all that stuff came around
8:50
. We had flip-flops , there was . Yeah
8:53
no one was Shipping
8:55
stuff in , like there was nothing
8:58
from anyone . Everyone was trying to get there , oh
9:01
, cool jacket , like I get it
9:03
with some people . But we kind
9:05
of thrived in that because it
9:07
was we were the people that were
9:09
able to . So far .
9:11
I think if we didn't sound them , they were all literally
9:13
dying in the field .
9:14
Yeah , and we didn't have a storefront
9:16
. The people felt safe because we had
9:19
a barn and you could come and pick up . You
9:21
could pick up outside and not talk to anybody like
9:23
we can leave them on the porch , yeah
9:25
, like it was just .
9:27
I spent so much time . We all spent
9:29
so much time Putting
9:31
together things for healthcare workers
9:33
and dropping things out to make
9:35
it .
9:35
So Thank you , and yeah , just so many , of
9:38
course , all that
9:40
it killed me to watch my flowers
9:42
just die .
9:45
Yeah , that
9:47
does not work , no .
9:49
Yeah , so okay , once while I make hair teacher voice
9:51
Sorry . Um
9:55
, but not too long . After that I
9:58
kind of came along with life in
10:00
general and I went to
10:02
school up at Drillard Valley University
10:04
for three and a half years because I
10:06
don't want to pay for a whole lot of sister . So
10:09
, I was up there for Lansing Design
10:11
and COVID happened after I was there for a year
10:13
and I was remote for a little bit and
10:15
then went back and I was traveling from
10:18
home to Doyle Sound , PA , and
10:20
School and work and Latin
10:23
and being crazy frantic and running around
10:25
like a crazy person . You know I had that
10:27
every time to be able to do that . Um , you
10:29
know , I'm sure some people could say I sacrificed
10:31
my like social life . I didn't even have social life
10:34
. I don't know all those people that like go
10:36
out and drink , like I enjoy working . Um
10:39
, yeah yeah and yeah and
10:42
we just we kick butt for a really
10:45
long time and and I'm pretty cool
10:47
times a whole moment of wondering where I was
10:49
gonna go if I had another option . You
10:51
know , ironically this is my home farm , so
10:53
I didn't really have to
10:55
go anywhere .
10:57
Your commute is terrible .
10:57
Yeah , but then , speaking
10:59
of COVID , amber came along . She
11:02
was here very like , very
11:04
, very , very , very , very very early
11:06
before that . But little did we know that she was gonna come
11:08
back .
11:09
Well , remember , where did we initially
11:11
?
11:11
meet you . Hi
11:14
Hi
11:16
. I was some lost kid on the side of the road that
11:18
picked up one day . Originally
11:24
, I met Liza because I was one of her students in
11:27
the ag class . Okay , okay , okay
11:29
, way back when I played softball
11:31
with Lizzie yes , when she
11:33
was just an itty bitty kid yeah
11:35
, she
11:38
would be out in the field .
11:39
They put her in our field because she was on a tribal team
11:41
with high school .
11:42
I was in middle school , oh yeah .
11:48
He tried so hard .
11:49
God bless him . God , he tried
11:51
so hard . I was just so terrified .
11:55
Okay .
12:00
I still don't talk , all don't get me wrong , but I've
12:03
been conned into playing in an old one , so
12:05
so
12:08
I played softball with Liz for I don't know a
12:10
year or two and then moved into high school
12:12
high school ball and she was still
12:14
in middle school . So even though now it seems like
12:17
we're probably the same age , we're not In
12:21
high school . I ended up in Liza's originally
12:23
biology class oh
12:25
man , that was a hell of a class . And
12:31
then I went into the ag classroom and I
12:34
doubled up on my ag classes for two years out of
12:36
my four years of high school . I spent half
12:38
my day in her classroom . For two years After
12:41
that I actually went to DelVal , so I went to the
12:43
same college as Liza , but I only stayed a year
12:46
because college is not my thing , even though I regurgitated
12:48
information in
12:53
high school . I never once had to learn how to
12:55
study until I went to college , and at that point
12:57
it was too late for me to learn how to study because I
12:59
didn't have connections . I
13:01
couldn't connect
13:04
with anybody that knew how to connect with
13:06
me to teach me . Hey , this is how you study to learn
13:08
things . So I
13:11
left DelVal after a year . I went
13:13
to New York for four years . I came home
13:15
, I attended a graduation party and said , hey , I've
13:17
got some aloe plants . You want some ?
13:22
I said hello , I was like
13:25
I remember Amber from really really
13:27
long time ago .
13:28
So I came over one day . Lizzie had just gotten home
13:30
from the gym . She was like oh hi
13:32
. I went inside , liza
13:37
took me for a walk through the field and I said hey
13:40
, do you need help with anything Ever ? Oh God
13:42
, I really need help . That's what
13:44
helps me . Lizzie
13:47
was so excited to show me the field . She caught me some stuff
13:49
and let me put together an arrangement , and I actually
13:51
see the picture every year now in my memories . I'm
13:53
like , oh yeah , thanks for letting me come out a little bit . I know
13:56
I'd live here half the time .
13:58
We had one wedding for a family friend
14:00
of ours . That was our first
14:02
big kid wedding and we're like oh yeah , we can do
14:04
that in like two days .
14:05
Like two days a day . Can you share ?
14:07
with us some of the stuff
14:09
that we did this year . That was nothing
14:12
, but then that kind of like
14:14
you showed up one day and you're like , can I help
14:16
you ? I was like , yeah
14:19
, that was before we had a
14:22
siding on the side of the
14:24
barn . That was where we had the table
14:26
painted .
14:27
That
14:31
was pre-horse mats .
15:46
Yeah , that was before we had like
15:48
giant stings on the floor .
15:50
Okay , so low key or high key or
15:52
whatever key you may be in . There's
15:54
concrete floors in here . I mean we're
15:56
standing on that all day long . It's really hard in the
15:58
back . So we put worst on mats
16:00
down and that helps soften .
16:02
This is a little bit different , but all
16:04
day long we're standing in here cutting stems and things
16:06
and standing on concrete and eventually we're
16:08
standing on piles of stems and we're like
16:10
our backs hurt . So you know , mom
16:12
, and will come home with horse mats
16:15
.
16:15
It works . I don't
16:18
like to stand in here
16:20
, but sometimes 14
16:23
hours a day , depending on what's
16:25
going on and if I'm making it to the gym
16:27
or not . But
16:30
yeah and okay . So another thing when
16:33
we talk about little things , we
16:35
want you guys to kind of know us for who we are and
16:37
what we like to do . So , mom , what are
16:39
your top three favorite things that
16:42
you can notice for this ? Something that you like to
16:44
do , a place that you love to go ?
16:47
food that you love . Okay , so I
16:49
love ice cream and I love peanut butter and beef . What
16:56
do you guys think I love ? Obviously , the
16:59
canned answer should be my love A lot of
17:01
things for a while . But and that's obvious we're
17:03
all saying yeah , but we're all flower lovers
17:05
.
17:05
Well , we're like you guys . To know us as
17:08
people , that is just voices
17:10
behind a microphone .
17:12
No , I'm a huge nerd , if you hadn't already
17:14
figured that out . I love to read
17:16
, I love to learn . Um
17:21
, you like frogs ? Yes
17:23
, I've
17:26
always loved frogs
17:28
. So the stereotypical like girls
17:30
don't like frogs ? Nope , give
17:32
me a tractor , give me a frog
17:34
and peanut butter ice cream .
17:35
Fun fact , she did get in the newspaper
17:38
one time in the town because she
17:40
kissed a frog . Oh my God , I don't want
17:42
to act like this See , if we go
17:44
back and look , it's probably so to
17:46
the same , oh Lord .
17:49
It was one of those . You won't . You won't .
17:51
You always get too , much
17:53
Clearly it was boy
17:55
, influenced by that .
17:58
But what about work related ? What are your favorite
18:00
things to do at work ?
18:04
I love first thing in the morning . So
18:06
when we hit flowers it'd have to be done super early
18:08
in the morning because
18:11
I mean they have to be fresh .
18:13
They don't like being cut right through
18:15
the day .
18:17
I absolutely love first thing in the
18:20
morning when I go out and I'm cutting
18:22
and putting
18:24
your headphones yeah , I put in one headphone . But I love the birds
18:26
. I absolutely
18:30
love the
18:32
sound of the birds . They're so loud . And
18:37
if
18:39
there's things like I can't sleep
18:41
or I know I have to get certain
18:43
things done , there's a storm coming or something
18:45
like that . There's many nights where I'm
18:47
putting on a headlamp . I'll go out and be
18:49
like 10 , 30 , 11 o'clock and I'll get
18:51
the text from my husband being like where
18:54
I'm like , I'm fine , I'm up , but that gives
18:56
me a chance to listen to owls and all
18:58
of that .
19:02
I will go pretty cool . We've got a
19:04
little . We've got little babies , little guys , little
19:06
children , little lice , little
19:09
barnels and I love to water .
19:12
That's another thing that , like I , get
19:14
to stand there and
19:16
see the progression of this teeny
19:18
tiny seed that has so much potential
19:21
become this absolutely amazing
19:23
. Whatever the plant is that we're
19:25
growing it into you know and
19:27
just I feel like that's
19:30
super satisfying and welcoming in the greenhouse
19:32
and in the houses , kind
19:35
of tricking mother nature . Right
19:37
now everything in the field
19:39
is like frozen and gone .
19:42
Yeah , our zoologies are capped at the most
19:44
, so the dahlias .
19:45
The dahlias are like oh my god . Yeah
19:48
, it's the one in the greenhouse
19:50
, beautiful and covered in buds , yeah they're
19:52
having a second night here . Yeah
19:54
, impressive , pretty cool , pretty
19:56
beautiful . I
19:59
think so .
20:01
Yeah , whenever you're turned up and I'll go last what
20:04
.
20:08
Okay , so in my personal life I read lots of books
20:10
. I am a
20:12
crafty person . I'm rhinestone
20:14
in cups . I am crocheting blankets .
20:18
She has a nice job . She
20:21
has a self promo .
20:25
I love baseball . I'm a big
20:28
time Orioles fan . Very
20:30
sad that it's off season right now , but
20:32
it's fine .
20:33
She actually taught me that there's no corn
20:35
dogs .
20:39
Out of all the softball games that you could show
20:42
me .
20:43
My favorite football league . Yeah
20:45
, I know right . I also really
20:47
love my dogs . I foster cats . I
20:50
never have enough to do , apparently . I
20:53
love filling my time at
20:56
work . I love setting up weddings
20:58
. It can be a whole
21:00
lot of work , but I love setting up weddings . I love
21:02
seeing people watch us put
21:04
it all together and at
21:07
the end of everything just saying wow
21:09
.
21:10
Yeah . Finishing product yeah
21:12
yeah
21:15
, it's not just us , it's like everything
21:18
.
21:20
Yeah , it all looks complete , it's
21:22
like oh , I know you now .
21:25
Yeah , it's so satisfying to see it all
21:27
come together .
21:29
Another thing that I really love . I mean
21:32
, I love sitting around and talking to you guys
21:34
during the podcast it's
21:36
it's it's nice to I have a day job . This is my
21:39
nighttime , weekends job . It's
21:41
nice to get out of my you know , very like
21:43
Mathematical linear job day
21:46
to day and
21:48
come here and use the other half of
21:50
my brain . I don't know what's my third
21:52
one . I
21:54
like looking at pretty things
21:57
, yeah , yeah
22:01
, I think the inverse response
22:03
in time is yeah , yeah , what's this ?
22:05
This is for
22:07
Very tough yeah .
22:09
Yeah .
22:14
Yeah .
22:18
Walk around and touch it .
22:22
All right , we're both throwing it back
22:24
to you , liz .
22:29
Um , I think the
22:31
top three things that I know I guess I'm
22:34
known for around here is definitely all the design
22:36
work , but I
22:38
love the beach . I always have not like
22:40
I go there every single month , but
22:43
I'm a few for the beach , Just
22:45
the warmth and the sun . Technically the
22:48
beach , specifically for the sun , because I'm so cold
22:50
all the time , like it's
22:52
cold in the barn because there's AC . She's
22:54
allergic to the cold .
22:56
Yeah .
22:56
I literally am Happy panel .
23:00
Um . I love the gym .
23:04
I'm a health nut . I
23:07
kind of have been forced to be that way in my life , because if I'm not
23:09
, I literally get sick
23:11
and I have a lot of and I'm
23:14
your funky things that you don't say that everybody
23:16
would have , cause I'm like I got this
23:18
and you know , and they're like , oh , you're
23:20
just kind of looking in , like not their head , and you're like
23:22
, okay , I don't know , what
23:24
that means , but okay . You say that . Um
23:27
, so I'm Jim like health nut . Um
23:29
, I go to the gym I would say almost
23:32
someday , but I've been kind of taking
23:34
it easy lately . I'm not trying to kill myself . Um
23:36
, kind of enjoy the whole . Um
23:39
. And the third thing
23:41
I love sea turtles . I
23:44
love my sea turtles a lot and
23:46
I love my dogs . Charlie , he
23:49
is a white boxer and he is the best hugs
23:51
in the world so . I'm having
23:54
a mental
23:56
breakdown . I was sitting on the floor and he comes over
23:58
and put this out of my shoulder .
24:00
My dogs .
24:03
That happens more often than not , but
24:06
you know it . Just , he's such a
24:08
sweetheart , he's got a big soul
24:10
. Um , we love
24:12
Charlie . Yeah , we love Charlie
24:15
. He's my favorite ever . He just he has
24:17
probably the biggest personality
24:19
in a dog I think I've ever
24:21
met . Like have you seen like the shaggy
24:23
dog , like the movie ? Oh yeah , that's Charlie . Like
24:27
he's like human , like
24:29
his shifty eyes , like his tail , like
24:33
he'll give you like a side eye . Like
24:36
when you're talking about him and he's focused on something
24:39
he'll have like the quickest side eye
24:41
like ever . And
24:43
I love that he like he talks to you , like
24:46
he's like ooh , ooh , it
24:49
just helped me , he cracks me up .
24:51
Um at work . What are your three favorite
24:54
things to do ?
24:55
Um well , I love designing everything and
24:57
I I really like , I
25:00
love the fact that every wedding is different
25:02
. Sometimes they can be pain in
25:04
the ass , sometimes they're absolutely wonderful
25:06
.
25:07
Um , and sometimes the ones that you think
25:10
that are going to be super simple and easy
25:12
.
25:12
Yeah , and that are like well , like
25:14
this flower .
25:15
Oh my God , I get it .
25:19
I hate these , yeah . Or like I
25:22
already pre-made a bouquet and they're like can I come in and look at it
25:24
? I like flowers and like I get that you want control
25:26
, but come in early and on
25:28
time . When you say that you're going to come in
25:30
early and on time . If
25:32
not , I'm making a bouquet . Because
25:34
you're not the only one , let me have
25:36
that bouquet , okay . Um
25:39
, news flash yeah , you're
25:41
not the one in the all . Like you're not , let's keep the
25:43
Norway fun . I can promise you that . Um
25:46
, so yeah , definitely
25:48
, the bouquet is , I think , during
25:50
the day . I love spending the month . I
25:52
love to . I love setup . I don't want
25:54
this to come off as I don't like to set up
25:56
. I love setup , but I love seeing it
25:58
done even more . But I love
26:01
getting the bride her bouquet with a good
26:03
reaction .
26:04
Yes .
26:05
My favorite one this year was the
26:07
tears always making me happy Um
26:09
see people cry makes me happy , yeah , because
26:13
. I made something so beautiful , um
26:17
, so that's always a good feeling , but the one
26:19
react that we had and she had all pink
26:21
shoes up , right , um , so
26:24
I get to post some pictures as of today . Um
26:26
, we're reading for the yard comeback , but
26:28
she probably spent like 15 minutes . We
26:31
meant to standing there like heading home again
26:34
, but , like Good , she's
26:37
telling her bars .
26:38
Oh , was that the one that we put on the buffet in the entrance
26:40
?
26:40
Yes , yeah , we came back inside
26:42
and they were all just like standing there staring , and
26:45
I was like , okay , okay , I
26:48
think there's a little part of gratitude to
26:50
that and we have really small town . We're
26:53
starting to get into my age group of people
26:55
getting married . And you know , we're
26:57
a little bit more Southern , we're not in PA Like we
26:59
do have sweet tea all the time , but
27:02
you know , we there
27:04
are a lot of people that are getting married . Like
27:06
it's just , it's that weird space , it's like
27:08
you know , you're
27:10
either like falling off the face of the
27:12
earth and nobody knows what
27:14
you're doing , or you're getting married and you're having babies , or you've
27:17
already had babies and
27:19
now you're getting married and , yeah , I don't know what you're
27:21
doing , but I can . I've done a lot
27:23
of new case for people that I never . I'm not going to get me wrong
27:25
that I never thought that
27:27
I would be making . Yeah , by the time I've been doing
27:30
this for 30 years , I'll be curious
27:32
to see who and what I've gotten from the kids .
27:34
I've gotten married .
27:34
I've gotten married , I've gotten married , I've gotten married , I've
27:38
gotten married to everyone , so that's the biggest one , and
27:40
then I've gotten married to all the kids .
27:42
Yeah , so I've gotten
27:44
married to all the kids . I've gotten
27:46
married . You know , I've gotten
27:49
married so that we can be all
27:51
the same . And what I've gotten for people , all
27:53
the way back to the very first wedding that we did .
27:55
Yeah , the very first wedding
27:57
we did was a A student , yeah , Cause
28:00
she came to me and Lizzie was . Lizzie
28:02
was standing in the classroom and now I
28:04
have a relationship with her brother through
28:07
my fiance , so it's it's
28:09
. It's it's weird . Yeah , Very
28:11
, very weird .
28:11
Yeah , it's such a I don't think
28:13
it's a circle , I think it's like a weird oval with
28:16
like tangents .
28:17
And it's like wrinkles and less turns
28:19
and tears and happiness and laughter
28:21
. And it's just it , like it just doesn't stop
28:23
.
28:24
She came to us and she was like hey , can you
28:26
do flowers for my wedding ? And I was like no . And
28:28
Liz was like yes . And I was like no
28:31
, we just grow flowers .
28:33
No , no , no , no . I was like why are
28:35
you doing it ?
28:37
I was like come on , come on
28:39
, come on , oh , okay . And we were
28:41
very open In
28:44
place . Actually , that
28:46
is okay . So , while we need it
28:48
, when I say that
28:50
we grow the majority of the flowers that we
28:53
use , her wedding actually
28:55
helps set that business model for us . Yes
28:57
, I'm a huge environmental person . I'm
29:00
gonna do everything I can to
29:02
make the impact correctly
29:04
on the future , for all
29:06
the generations . I
29:08
feel like the flower industry can be incredibly
29:11
wasteful . I
29:13
mean , let's face it , we sell dead things
29:15
. As soon as the flowers are cut , they're done
29:17
. There's no chance of them continuing
29:19
. As much as we can see , we're just prolonging
29:22
the life Exactly . But
29:25
they really wanted to have
29:27
.
29:28
I mentioned the role of like the worst , like
29:30
flowers just grew people and stuck with each other
29:32
. It's so lost . It's so lost , can
29:35
you imagine ? It's weird ?
29:37
It's weird . What was that comment
29:40
that you made to me on the way back from setting up that wedding
29:42
? Can you imagine if the aliens came down to Earth on Halloween
29:44
and saw a whole bunch of our
29:46
skeletons sitting on ? Poles and people's
29:48
yards Like tall skeletons was playing football , Speaking
29:51
of which ?
29:51
I saw one at Like
29:55
. If they came down to Earth they would be like what
29:57
the fuck is this Tall
30:01
foot , taller than their house ? And I mean , I would
30:03
assume that they're smart enough to know what a dead human
30:05
looks like , but they don't know that they're fake
30:07
. They're just picking up people's dead bones out of the ground
30:10
and digging them up tall .
30:12
Making them play football and swing on swings and shit
30:14
. But that reminds me I passed the Boo
30:17
Boo Boss house out on Watch
30:19
Macaulay and there was a
30:21
jeep that had a fake skeleton
30:24
.
30:24
Shanky was running around . I know I
30:28
saw that . I saw him .
30:29
We were driving through town and it was like oh
30:32
, it was making it look like somebody had hit them
30:34
. A human , yes .
30:36
I was like , what in the hell is
30:38
Like what ? Like why , why
30:41
do you think that ? Like , how
30:44
is that okay ? Can you imagine
30:46
if aliens came ?
30:47
and they were like how long is the best time for the
30:50
aliens to come down ? They would turn around and fly
30:52
away .
30:53
I would , oh
30:56
my god . And their trees just
30:58
shen Like
31:00
, can you Just
31:04
spend a year on Earth ? And then they
31:06
go to all these places and like why
31:09
would we go back there ?
31:10
Like why , and in the fall
31:12
they lose an hour yeah
31:14
.
31:15
And then they gain it back Like why ? And
31:17
then there are some places that don't even do it
31:19
anymore .
31:20
And then there , are some places where you have to add a year
31:22
. There's like the gear thing
31:24
, like Bruh .
31:27
Like I don't get it , Like if they went to like
31:29
Africa and then went to like I
31:32
don't know , North Dakota , Probably
31:36
not like Moose , yeah , it would just
31:38
be so like why they're
31:41
I don't know tangent , Okay , so the
31:43
business model the
31:46
business model . They
31:48
run a very specific type of rose
31:50
.
31:52
They want to like the tie dye roses and
31:55
there was a huge strike in
31:57
South America . We
32:00
don't use roses . Yeah , we don't use roses , we don't
32:02
use roses .
32:03
Roses bite you and a meal .
32:05
If we go on Earth , they want us to eat them . They've
32:07
got the ones . Yeah , no
32:09
thanks , no , and
32:12
they're so high maintenance , they're just
32:14
.
32:14
I don't know . I feel like that
32:17
is even the hardest part Sometimes .
32:19
We have a couple roses here and there that we
32:21
do use and I have
32:23
toward the idea of a couple of them
32:26
in a field just to have like
32:28
the little tips again .
32:29
She then no thanks .
32:30
Yeah , but
32:33
no , it wasn't available
32:35
, and so I was like you
32:37
know what ? And all of the trash
32:40
, you know . They get shipped in
32:42
in bulk and then they get broken down into
32:44
boxes , shipped out . They've
32:46
got wrapping , they've got plastic , they've
32:48
got rubber bands , they've got boxes
32:50
, you know .
32:52
The amount of rubber bands that we've collected over the past year
32:54
has been insane . Most of it , we
32:56
just cut and throw out , yeah .
32:59
Like we're never going to use that many rubber bands .
33:01
A couple of them are in tires , you know . It's
33:03
just like it's so wasteful sometimes
33:05
, so that's why we do absolutely
33:08
everything that we can to have
33:10
everything be our own . There are times
33:12
where we do order because
33:14
you know if somebody has a specific request
33:17
. I can't begin a cardinia in August
33:19
locally , but if somebody's heart is
33:21
set on that , because their grandmother told
33:23
them when you get married , please have this
33:25
flower for me . I'm not going to not
33:28
do that , or if somebody
33:30
needs specialty things like orchids
33:32
, like some brides Me
33:35
, but that's because you have them in yours .
33:37
No , I know .
33:39
You set yourself up for that . It is so
33:41
family .
33:43
There is a story about it . It's a rather rickety orchid . It's
33:45
a little bit of a thing , yeah .
33:49
Big ol' back ones . Big ol' back ones . Yeah , well
33:51
, I don't know . You know we don't do orchids
33:53
, we don't do baby scraps , because fuck
33:56
everybody does it . Well
33:58
, there's a lot of flowers that actually
34:01
escape . True , we're
34:04
the make you itch . Yeah , we
34:06
don't grow those .
34:08
Like well , okay , if they're like milking
34:10
and they have that like texture
34:12
, cannot .
34:14
There's some flowers like poppies . Poppies
34:16
are absolutely beautiful . They have
34:18
so many different colors , but they are so
34:21
high maintenance . You cut them and you have to
34:23
burn the bottom of the stems because
34:25
the stack leaks out otherwise and can
34:27
kill the other flowers .
34:29
And there's water hits the slimy . Yeah , Like
34:32
we literally had water turn red in
34:34
like crevices because we forgot one
34:37
that we didn't earn or it wasn't like tough
34:39
enough . And every time you cut it down you
34:42
have to burn it .
34:43
And trying to tuck that into a bouquet and not burn
34:45
the flowers around it .
34:47
I think that we need to talk about poisonous flowers at some point
34:49
, and not just poisonous flowers but , like daffodils
34:53
, need to be housed alone because they'll
34:55
kill everything else .
34:57
Ironically , unless they're in oasis
34:59
I have . We did try that in the spring . We had
35:01
those teapots , we had a couple
35:04
, we did some test runs with them and some of them
35:06
are okay . Oh
35:09
, like , all this sticky stuff got out of it
35:11
. Yeah , so these are things
35:13
that we need to talk about . Yeah
35:16
, the reality of using . We'll
35:19
do like you know , we'll do Instagram
35:21
roulette . We'll do like
35:23
influencer
35:26
, like we'll go on our shared feed
35:28
or what's the feed that you go
35:30
into , like your search bar , and it's like up there
35:32
and it's famous and trending , whatever . It's
35:34
like random . Sure you
35:36
know ?
35:37
sure , let me pull that right now
35:39
Side note , can we do an honorable mention for all
35:41
the other employees ?
35:42
a wealthy native , yeah yeah , you
35:45
go into your search bar and it's all of the featured
35:47
okay random stuff .
35:48
Yeah , yeah , yeah . So like the it's like your for
35:51
you page on Instagram .
35:52
Yeah . So it's like all this stuff , like what's
35:54
the reality ? Cosmos don't even
35:56
get me started on cosmos , we'll talk
35:58
about that another time yes we will
36:00
do Instagram roulette and we're gonna look at a picture
36:02
and we're gonna look at the
36:05
photos and we're gonna tag people
36:07
and I really , really , really
36:09
, I think we should do that . We screenshot them , we
36:11
tag the people and then we
36:14
go behind the reality of what
36:16
it's like to work with things .
36:17
It's not just that , but I think the other thing we need to talk
36:20
about is the price of some things . Yeah , cos
36:23
, that's always . And you know
36:25
, pinterest is awesome , absolutely
36:27
awesome . We can just do Pinterest , I
36:30
mean , there's so many things but
36:32
people have no clue what goes
36:34
into that or how many stens it is , or
36:37
what that looks like or anything like that . So
36:39
who else works for us ?
36:42
Let's shout out about this Our good
36:44
or , oh my God , our good , our good .
36:46
Your good your good , your good
36:49
. We're
36:52
gonna have so many highlights for this one .
36:57
Very , very , very special , ms Cameron
36:59
. She
37:02
is blood , she is fumelia
37:05
, she is seed queen . She
37:08
has probably planted , watered
37:11
, cut , saved , weeded , transplanted
37:13
, transplanted , transplanted
37:15
, transplanted , vertilized
37:18
, pinned , pinned . Every
37:20
single seed flower
37:23
that leaves
37:25
our shop comes in whatever
37:28
, at least once With
37:30
something , yeah .
37:31
We could not function without her . No , no
37:33
.
37:34
No , yeah , nope . Not
37:36
at all , and it's awesome because
37:38
we're to a place now where I can say
37:40
Lizzie's Design , Amber's podcast
37:42
, Kenley's Field , Nicole is
37:45
business and she keeps
37:47
my shins dirty . Nicole's the next one .
37:49
Yeah , segway . Hey , nicole , what's up ?
37:51
Yeah , our good old Nicole
37:53
. She sits across from me and we left
37:56
and we have fun and sometimes it's
37:59
just her name here and we're jammed out to whatever
38:01
this . Oh , I feel like it's the play
38:04
that day . She goes on , Tandems
38:06
Everyone's Smile . She knows what it's Friday . Her
38:08
three phones are yeah
38:10
, my usher . I'm pretty
38:12
sure that's who I usher . Sure
38:14
, Right , Um , pretty new USA
38:17
and get low .
38:19
Um , um , um Um .
38:23
That's when it goes to the wall . She doesn't like that one
38:25
, yeah , but yeah she likes , um , you
38:27
know , like Applebot jeans is
38:29
another one Like when it's Friday Eve
38:31
and Friday and sometimes Saturday
38:34
. She's a minor for us
38:36
.
38:36
Yeah , and then Taylor .
38:37
Swift , john Mayer or Jones
38:40
Brothers . I'm like you play
38:42
whatever you want or she gets into this really weird like
38:44
depressive state .
38:46
I'm like just go on Tandems
38:48
.
38:48
I don't know what's wrong with her , but you know
38:50
we just gotta get through it . So she is another robot
38:54
person thing that uh
38:56
she's talking about the Alexa . Yeah
39:00
, so she's , she's not one and then we're just
39:02
dancing here to Alexa Um , but yeah , it
39:05
goes kind of a honey book behind
39:08
the scenes on the phone . What is honey
39:10
book ? The platform
39:13
that we use to keep the
39:15
culture and proposals and money and
39:17
people and contacts and
39:19
all of the contracts and all of
39:22
the yeah Um , and
39:24
we have a lot of special people that
39:26
help us deliver and help at
39:28
night sometimes . Um , we've
39:30
been we've been to people
39:34
, yeah , just awesome
39:36
, yeah , yeah .
39:38
Yeah , yeah .
39:45
Other than the girls , that you come to work
39:47
for us in the meantime and
39:50
then spring up until now , yeah
39:53
, yeah
39:56
.
40:05
Yeah , I literally just told Kenley the other day . I don't remember the
40:07
last time I worked in the field .
40:08
Yeah , well , we haven't had to do it with
40:11
him since night because we actually have infrastructure to do
40:13
it correctly .
40:14
Well , a , you're not teaching anymore . Yeah , the
40:17
Kenley's not in school anymore . Yeah , see
40:19
, we're a real family .
40:25
We're a real family , yeah , like , like we're a real family
40:27
.
40:27
They're real family . Yeah , it makes a difference , it really
40:29
makes a difference . Mm , hmm .
40:34
So over the next We've got
40:36
cultural diversity , yeah For
40:38
sure .
40:39
Yeah , even with an English woman from
40:41
Florida , they're same
40:43
way . But over
40:45
the next multiple forever
40:48
of episodes , weeks , continuations
40:50
and how many
40:52
weeks we have organized .
40:55
We are pre-scheduled for almost the next year and a half
40:57
.
40:58
Yeah , I mean , we have so many ideas and so
41:00
much stuff that we want to share behind the scenes
41:02
, and there's so much stuff that
41:04
we just people , don't
41:06
know what a flower , farmer , florist
41:08
is , and we are here to educate you . There's
41:11
so many people who are the florist and there's
41:13
so many people who are the farmer
41:15
, but I can be the farmer
41:18
, she can be the florist .
41:20
And we can all function in the same place .
41:24
We all know where we stand Grown and not flown
41:26
. Yeah , 100% . Yeah
41:28
, which is 10 times
41:30
better , because then we don't have all the trash . I
41:32
don't mind unpacking stuff , because sometimes we get
41:34
to use things that you don't always get to
41:36
grow or that our soil just doesn't agree
41:38
with , like stock kind
41:41
of , but can barely grow it . Yeah
41:43
, it's just not . This is not the
41:45
same . I don't know how they do it , but they've
41:48
got it in the pot and it
41:50
just . It helps us .
41:51
Well , and ordering things once in a while
41:53
also helps us see what other
41:56
florists are seeing from some larger growers , because
41:59
sometimes , wow , look , that's really pretty
42:01
in the night and I'm like , oh , that's too small
42:04
. We missed the boat on that somewhere .
42:06
Yeah or we needed to like pinch something
42:08
, or we've got bronchialis
42:10
out the ass that are pink and yellow and
42:12
red and magenta and orange
42:15
and purple , and God only knows what and
42:17
like .
42:18
I'm like too white .
42:21
I mean like wait , because they have a full
42:23
night and we need to look at them
42:25
. So we're not lying , but you
42:28
know , so are the other four , that's
42:34
all they do , well
42:37
, monica ? Well
42:39
, so it's it's . It's a
42:41
lot , but it's a good a lot , you know
42:43
it's 554 in the Monday night in
42:45
November , but this will be out a
42:48
lot earlier than that .
42:53
All right . Well , you now
42:55

42:57
