Hey guys , welcome to the Flower Files

0:17

. A little bit of a different setup tonight . You

0:19

just get me . We

0:22

want to try something a little different . We want to talk

0:24

a little bit about wedding

0:27

setups that are specific

0:29

to a certain place

0:32

. Just do a real quick , short

0:34

pop in once in a while and be like , hey , this

0:36

happened and it was really cool . Or hey , this happened

0:38

and I was really panicked . Or hey , this

0:40

happened and I really fucked it up . It

0:44

could be any of those things . Today

0:46

is just a real quick pop in to chat

0:49

a little bit about our wedding setup this past

0:51

weekend . I

0:53

really want this podcast

0:56

to be a place where things are open

0:58

and honest and I

1:00

feel like so many times in the

1:03

Instagram world , the Facebook world , the TikTok

1:05

, the YouTube

1:07

, the whatever any of the social media

1:09

is , everything is shiny and pretty and

1:12

I want a place where we can talk

1:14

about , sometimes , things that aren't always

1:16

shiny and pretty . This

1:19

past weekend , really excited to go

1:21

to the Tidewater Inn down in

1:23

Easton , pretty close to us . Very

1:26

small wedding , very intimate . That

1:30

bride actually had asked us

1:32

to step outside her box a little bit . It

1:34

was the first moment of the season and I was like we can

1:36

be more flexible . She was

1:38

budget conscious and concerned

1:41

, which absolutely everybody

1:43

is , and I understand that she

1:46

actually used some fake florals . What

1:49

we did is we did live florals

1:51

for all of her personals

1:53

. She had a petite bridal bouquet

1:55

for her . She had seven

1:58

petite bridesmaid bouquets for

2:00

her I'm going to say team

2:03

, but it's not her team for the rest of her

2:05

bridal party Three

2:07

corsages , a boutonniere

2:10

and a couple other boutonniers

2:12

and that was all she had as far as live

2:14

flowers went . Start with her planner

2:16

to make sure everything was

2:18

going to be set up . Props

2:21

to her for some of the best communication

2:24

. There have been many times where

2:26

, if there's just a day off planner , a

2:28

bride is like , hey , this is what I want , and things

2:31

are shoved in a box and you kind

2:33

of have to sort through and figure out what

2:35

the heck goes where . She had things

2:37

color coordinated . There were squares

2:40

on the squares that

2:42

went with a specific room because she had three

2:44

different rooms . She had the ceremony space

2:46

. She had cocktail hour , which , by

2:49

the way , she had a macaroni and cheese bar . I

2:51

walked past that and was smelling

2:53

it as they were cooking it . Not going

2:55

to lie , I was like how do I taste

2:57

? Test this . Then

3:00

they started baking bread and my stomach growled the

3:02

entire time . I had

3:04

eaten lunch , but a whole different story . Then

3:08

, in the last room , which was her ballroom

3:10

, in her clear reception space , she

3:12

had everything organized there

3:15

. She had bins organized , Everything

3:17

was bubble wrapped , Everything was ready to go . There

3:20

was a little more to it

3:22

than what I thought it was going

3:24

to be . When I walked in it

3:26

felt like when I had read

3:29

everything and looked at all of the emails

3:31

and all of that kind of stuff , I was like , oh , that'll be no problem

3:33

, but trying to make

3:35

sure I had everything exactly as

3:37

she wanted it I

3:40

always stress about that . She

3:43

had her fake florals from Ling's

3:45

florals . She had

3:47

a centerpiece down her runner

3:49

. So she had her three

3:52

rectangle tables pushed together for

3:54

her entire bridal party and

3:56

then everything else was rounds . She

3:58

reused her bridal bouquets and

4:01

used them as centerpieces

4:04

and then had floating candles in a couple

4:06

of the others . In order for

4:08

everything to fit , she

4:11

had the three cylinders tucked inside

4:13

each other and

4:16

it was table two . It was table four

4:19

, it was table seven two , four

4:21

, seven , nine , 13 , 11

4:23

, and 12 . And

4:25

just the way that the room was laid out . Those

4:28

were all of the floating candles and the kitchen

4:30

was there and always fascinating

4:32

. We get to see some of those behind the scenes things

4:34

, of things happening in the kitchen with the chefs

4:37

. Sometimes the chefs are what you see

4:39

on TV and they're yelling and there's all of this stuff

4:41

going on . And then there's other kitchens

4:43

where the chefs are a little more I

4:46

don't want to say normal , but like they're

4:48

normal humans . They're not these great big

4:50

, huge , like loud people . The

4:54

great big , huge , loud people . I'm always like , oh my

4:56

God , I don't want to be in your way . But this guy , I walked

4:58

in and , oh my God , watching him chop was

5:00

just mesmerizing because

5:03

he just he chopped and chopped and chopped and chopped

5:05

. It was fascinating . But I had to go back and

5:07

forth with pictures to be able to

5:09

fill all of the vases for

5:11

not vases but the floating candles

5:14

. But she had them tucked

5:16

inside each other . I had everything

5:18

set up in the cocktail room . I had

5:20

everything set up for the ceremony . I

5:22

was finishing up table 13

5:24

, last one , I picked up the

5:26

bunch of vases

5:29

that were all nestled together and they

5:31

proceeded to slide out and shatter all

5:33

over the floor . So kind

5:35

of panicked , super glad she had

5:38

massive extras . It wasn't like

5:40

she had one extra , she had like five

5:42

extra of everything . So

5:44

it was really cool . I was able to kind of

5:46

pick and choose through things . If

5:48

something was a little crushed , it was able to kind of fluff

5:51

it . If it didn't fluff correctly , I just traded it

5:53

for something else . The

5:55

garland on that

5:57

rectangle table with the whole

5:59

guest party One garland

6:01

was perfect . The other garland was about

6:03

a foot short . It

6:06

really stressed

6:08

me . But when I looked at the planner she's like

6:10

ah , we're just gonna shift this and we'll move the pepper here

6:12

and we'll do this and we'll do that . And she

6:14

didn't even blink an eye about it . So there was teeny

6:16

, tiny details that kind of freaked

6:18

me out . I guess don't freak

6:20

other people out , I

6:23

will say walking into the tide water , everybody

6:26

was absolutely so amazing

6:29

, so inviting , so welcoming

6:31

. What can we do ? Hold the door . Here's

6:34

the elevator . I'll take you to exactly where

6:36

you need to be and nine times

6:38

out of 10 , as you're walking up to a room

6:40

where everybody's getting ready , you

6:42

can find the bridal suite just by

6:44

following your nose and the smell of the hairspray

6:47

, Because it was wow

6:49

. But you walk in and it's

6:51

so cool to see all of the girls together

6:54

, everybody chatting , there's

6:56

always that kind of like leader in

6:58

the girl group who's like oh , I'll take the

7:01

boutonniers to the guys because they know what room

7:03

they're in . Sometimes I think

7:05

those are the girls who also need a break from all the

7:07

girlness . So

7:09

sometimes they run out and take care of that

7:11

. The photographer popped in and he

7:13

was like hey , can I talk to the bride

7:15

? And I was like I'm not the planner , I'm

7:17

the florist . And he's like but I'm

7:19

a guy and I don't wanna knock on the door . So it

7:21

was really kind of I would say

7:23

it was funny . But it was kind of funny

7:25

watching the photographer be a little nervous about

7:27

like there's all these women , what do I

7:29

do ? And you walk in and

7:32

such a flurry of activity

7:34

with the steamer getting the last

7:36

minute wrinkles out , the fine

7:39

details , with the earrings going in

7:41

the heels , the hey

7:43

, do you have a bandaid ? I have a blister , Like all

7:45

of these little things that are happening

7:48

last minute that just pull

7:50

everybody together and it's such

7:52

togetherness . It's

7:55

always really fun to see that stuff . The

7:58

tide water is an absolutely

8:01

beautiful property , the

8:03

, as I said earlier , the staff

8:05

are absolutely amazing

8:07

, from the front desk to when

8:10

I have to like wiggle my way around

8:12

, there was one of their staff members who had

8:14

just come back from an extended break

8:16

. She's a full-time teacher through

8:18

the week and she had had some

8:20

health things . So she had just come back

8:22

and everybody was like , oh my gosh

8:24

, it's so good to see you . So the

8:26

camaraderie that was there was

8:29

just amazing . I

8:32

didn't wanna wait with armfuls of flowers

8:34

for the elevator and be in the way of the guests , so

8:37

I actually got to walk up and down in a great big

8:39

, grand staircase . So

8:42

I felt like such a geek that I was like this

8:44

is so cool . But

8:46

then I was like , oh my God , what happens if I trip and fall

8:49

? It was definitely

8:51

one of those moments where it was really

8:53

really neat . It was cool to see , but

8:57

it was definitely a space

8:59

where it's

9:02

a one-of-a-kind space because it's historic

9:04

and has the great big fireplaces and

9:06

all of that kind of stuff . So a

9:08

really cool kickoff to our season . Really

9:12

sorry and sad that I broke

9:15

vases I've only done that one

9:17

other time and it was only one vase and these

9:19

just and the staff again

9:21

, staff was great . They were actually really funny

9:24

. They were like , yeah , at least it wasn't a full tray of

9:26

full glasses , so

9:28

that's no big deal . Yeah

9:32

, so first kickoff for the season

9:34

Tidewater Eastern . Really

9:36

cool personal little

9:39

wedding there . So

9:41

that's it for our first one . There's

9:43

no other juicy details

9:46

on this one . I'm

9:49

saying I'm a lot , I've got to work on that , so

9:52

we will continue

9:54

to bring you little

9:56

tips and snippets and things

9:58

like that . Where can you find

10:01

us ? Well , I'm not sure at platform
