Tinesha and Kelley welcome L.A. McCrae, Creator of Black Star Line Brewing Company for an educational and libertaing discussion of beer, honoring legacy and self discovery. L.A. McCrae is a lover of craft beer, Political Science & African American historian, liberation theologian, poet, and social entrepreneur. L.A. truly comes alive when they step in to their role as Brew Creative and Chief Visionary Officer of Black Star Line Brewing Company. Their passion can be felt as they cultivating community and safe spaces for those who are historically and demographically marginalized and disenfranchised; all while making great beer! They have degrees from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and Wesley Theological Seminary. Most importantly, L.A. is inspiring others to get involved with social entrepreneurship and the #sweetbeermovement as a pathway out of poverty to achieve our individual and collective healing and liberation. L.A. encourages those around them to be solution-oriented and holding an intersectional lens and analysis that centers personal empowerment and crafting new narratives rooted in emancipation and liberation. Needless to say, they are also an "urban-street guerilla minister" who is constantly thinking outside of the box. For them, Black Star Line Brewing Co. is a ministry, calling together the "least of these" and providing a sense of home. They have been described as a “radical, intellectual insurgent” on a social mission to transform communities, one beer at a time. They are doing just that and have preserved in the face of innumerable obstacles and challenges. Without a doubt, L.A. continues to persist in the pursuit of not only fulfilling their dreams, but nation-building. Cheers!
