I have not assessed thoroughly enough to figure out was the first US-African Summit a success or a complete failure, but the shear fact that Americans invited over 50 heads of states tell you something must be in the air. President Obama, ex heads of states, congressmen, businessmen and multi-nationals all lined up to have a whisper in the ear of African Presidents, Ministers and Elites, it was something like a blind date. This is the first time in the history of this country that the United States invited African people over to negotiate anything beneficial. We know the Continent of African is set to grow in the years to come due to a rather big appetite for African resources by the likes of China, India ,Russia and Brazil. These new African partners mean business, that means "no strings attached" deals and you young guys know what no strings attached means.America has continued to portray Africa as the needed, dependent and diseased while other nations saw natural wealth, business and endless opportunity in a Continent that is 3 times the size of the United States. By 2040 Africa will have well over a billion people the youngest global working population and a steady growth rate.These figures represent an opportunity on global proportions. Trade relations was a big topic at the summit with some $37bn invested in Africa. Many people the same old pessimist, see this as a wasted effort in policy towards Africa but the game has truly changed. I am not saying that Africa will surpass the west in this century but this is Africa's century to leap forward on the path to development
