Over the past 12 to 18 months, generative AI has further complicated this landscape. Tiffany described efforts to establish "guardrails" for AI to ensure it functions responsibly. These guardrails include scrutinizing the data used to train AI models and implementing prompt moderation to prevent the generation of harmful content.

Building a Trustworthy Internet

The conversation also touched on Tiffany's work with the Oasis Consortium, a nonprofit that launched the first user safety standards for Web3. She recounted the initial challenges of explaining the importance of trust and safety to stakeholders and the media. However, today, its critical role in digital environments is widely recognized.

Tiffany aims to create a standard that operators can adopt to ensure safer, more inclusive online spaces. This initiative has been backed by significant platforms such as Pandora, Roblox, and Salesforce, highlighting its significance and impact.
