0:16
huge. Hey. My name

0:53

0:55
Gold Digger podcast. So.
0:57
I did my first podcast episode on
0:59
this topic a way Back in Two
1:02
Thousand and Eighteen. So it is safe
1:04
to say that this is a tried
1:06
and true technique in my world that
1:08
I have leaned on over the years.
1:10
But let me tell you, this year
1:13
I am taking this strategy to a
1:15
whole new level. What am I talking
1:17
about? I'm talking about batch working. So
1:19
if you're wondering what batch working as
1:21
it's this productivity technique where tasks are
1:24
grouped together based on similarity or type
1:26
and their completed in dedicated, uninterrupted. Blocks
1:28
of time. So basically instead of
1:30
context switching are switching between different
1:32
activities all the time. Batch working
1:35
encourages individuals to focus on one
1:37
type of task at a time,
1:39
allowing for increased efficiency and concentration.
1:41
both things I need more of
1:43
in my life. It basically involves
1:45
structuring your workflows so that you
1:48
can streamline processes and minimize context
1:50
switching, which enhances your productivity and
1:52
ultimately it enhances your output. So
1:54
if you are somebody who wants
1:56
to get. More. Done in less time
1:58
so that you can get. Our to the
2:00
things you love and the life that you're
2:03
living. Or if you're tired of working so
2:05
hard every single day only to rest your
2:07
head at the end of it and wonder
2:09
why it I actually get accomplished. This episode
2:12
is for you. were talking about batch working
2:14
but we're going to show you the two
2:16
point overs and that's happening in my life
2:18
and business this year. Okay,
2:21
real talk are skinny jeans out or are they
2:23
in? My friends and I continue to have this
2:26
debate and it just goes to show that trends
2:28
come and go and come back again. And
2:30
the same goes for marketing strategies like
2:32
who can even keep up? Luckily, Sub
2:34
Spot makes it their job to keep
2:36
marketers on trend and on track to
2:38
hit their goal of their twenty Twenty

3:21
So. It's kind of funny because I
3:23
have been Batch working for six years.
3:26
probably longer if I'm being honest, but
3:28
I recently learned why this approach is
3:30
so helpful for me. specifically. So nearly
3:32
two years ago I was formally diagnosed
3:34
with the A D H D and
3:37
that diagnosis has taken me down a
3:39
very, very deep dive that looking at
3:41
the techniques at work for me in
3:43
order for me to be productive and
3:45
get my work done. Now the truth
3:47
is that people with H D really
3:50
do great with Batch working. Because
3:52
it provides is more structured approach
3:54
to task management, it also helps
3:56
minimize the need for constant contact
3:59
switching and. You're making. There's all
4:01
much research out there about how long
4:03
it takes our brains to context switch
4:05
and so you're someone like nice who
4:08
tend to have like twenty tabs open
4:10
any kind of forget what you're doing.
4:12
This method can be so game changing
4:14
when you have uninterrupted keyword, uninterrupted blocks
4:17
of time for specific tasks. People with
4:19
H D can maintain their focus and
4:21
concentration, which then of course leads to
4:24
increase productivity. And let me just preface
4:26
this by saying I am not someone
4:28
in the camp of like. I want
4:30
you to work smarter so that you can work
4:32
harder. I think there's a lot of people who
4:35
are like I want to be the most productive
4:37
version of myself so that I can get the
4:39
most were done and Steve working and working and
4:41
working. So I want for you to work smarter
4:43
so you can live more so that you can
4:45
unlock more time in your life where you're not
4:48
thinking about all the things you need to do
4:50
or what you didn't get done. or you're not
4:52
be reading yourself for not totally crossing off everything
4:54
on your to do list. So one of the
4:56
things that I love about this is it helps
4:58
reduce that feeling of overwhelm. That I think so
5:01
many of us can feel and it provides a
5:03
sense of accomplishment that I think so. Many
5:05
of us are lacking, especially onto your
5:07
it's. Because when you bats work
5:09
you are completing a batch of
5:11
tasks. It also just helps you
5:14
better with time management and prioritization.
5:16
People would a D H D
5:18
really can have a challenge of
5:20
managing their workload. it's and so
5:22
when you feel more in control
5:24
of your work say you finish
5:26
it feeling more accomplish and you
5:28
tend to actually achieve more Overall
5:30
Batch working offered practical solution to
5:32
a lot of common challenges are
5:35
entrepreneurs he's but specifically on for
5:37
years of age. Seat Now if you
5:39
do not have a D H D, I promise
5:41
you there's gold in this episode so don't to
5:43
me up yet of it's the first thing. that
5:46
has been so games eating for
5:48
me this year is see him
5:50
the days i am talking about
5:52
designating specific days a week for
5:54
certain tasks or thieves for example
5:56
you could do mondays are your
5:58
admin days like accounting an email
6:00
Tuesdays could be client meetings and
6:02
brainstorming. Wednesdays could be content creation
6:04
and so on. This allows you
6:06
to focus deeply on one task
6:08
at a time, minimizing context switching.
6:10
So this has been a huge shift
6:13
for me this year. And
6:15
I also have to recognize what a sink
6:17
and privilege it is to be able to say,
6:19
like I don't wanna do meetings on Mondays,
6:21
to be able to designate what your schedule
6:23
is. But here's something I want you to remember.
6:26
So many of us go into entrepreneurship, wanting
6:28
more freedom, wanting more control. And sometimes
6:30
we end up building businesses where we feel
6:32
like we have zero freedom and we're out
6:34
of control. And so you
6:37
wanna control the controllables. And for
6:39
me, that looked like designating themes
6:41
for each day of the week
6:43
and communicating those and kind of
6:46
creating this rhythm within my life
6:48
and business that feels so much
6:50
better. So for me, I decided
6:52
last year, my
6:54
team started doing four day work weeks. We started
6:56
it as an experiment. I did a whole podcast episode
6:59
on the topic and we loved it.
7:01
And so we have not gone back. So we do
7:03
Monday through Thursday. And one thing
7:05
that I noticed is that my favorite days
7:07
of work, the days that I feel like
7:09
I get the most stuff done are days
7:12
where I don't have any calls or any
7:14
meetings. And so I decided I wanted Monday
7:16
to be my deep work day. Meaning I'll
7:18
have no meetings. I have limited Slack interaction.
7:21
And I'll jump into my inbox, but I might not get
7:23
through the whole thing. And so Mondays
7:25
have become this really sacred day
7:28
for me in terms of work where
7:30
I am learning, I'm exploring, I'm creating,
7:32
I'm ideating, I'm being the visionary. And
7:35
so what this means is that Tuesday,
7:37
Wednesday and Thursday are usually jam packed.
7:40
But Mondays and Fridays, the bookends of
7:42
the week feel very free to me.
7:45
And they also just allow me to
7:47
kind of transition a little bit easier
7:49
out of a weekend filled with straight
7:51
on motherhood and back into the work
7:53
week. And then also easing out of
7:55
that entrepreneur mode and into mom mode as
7:57
we go into the weekend. And so this is
7:59
This has been just amazing
8:02
for me to have kind of these themes.
8:04
So Monday, I don't do meetings. Tuesday, I
8:07
usually have a lot of meetings. Wednesday,
8:09
I usually do recording. Thursday,
8:12
I do review. And then we have Fridays
8:14
off. And so that has worked out really,
8:16
really well for me. And so if you
8:18
can call in just different themed days, not
8:20
only does it help you kind of plan
8:22
your schedule out a little bit more in
8:24
advance, but it also helps you find a
8:26
rhythm that allows you to get into the
8:28
deep work. Because when people talk about deep
8:30
work, as someone with ADHD, I'm like, I don't
8:32
know what you're talking about. It takes me so
8:34
long to sink in, feel super creative, just like
8:36
creating on the fly. I have to create a
8:38
really intentional environment to get to that place. And
8:41
so I recognize the way that I was setting up
8:43
my schedule was not allowing me to ever get into
8:45
deep work. And so that has shifted with theme days.
8:48
Next, kind of touched on this
8:50
a little bit, but meeting days. So rather
8:52
than scattering your meetings throughout the week, schedule
8:55
them all on specific days. This
8:57
allows the business owner to fully
8:59
immerse themselves in these interactions without
9:02
interruptions. It also frees up other
9:04
days for focused work. So
9:06
I have something weird. And I'm curious
9:08
if any of you relate. You should send me a
9:10
DM if you relate to this. But
9:12
if I have a meeting on my calendar,
9:15
I like really struggle to get things done either until
9:17
that meeting happens or even if it's like 2 PM,
9:20
all day I'm dreading that meeting, even if I love the
9:23
person I'm meeting with. Meetings really throw
9:25
off my productivity and my desire
9:27
to get work done. It just feels
9:29
like a wrench in my
9:31
schedule. And I'm trying to jenga
9:34
my way into creativity around a
9:36
structure of meetings. And
9:38
so I am someone who dreads meetings. I
9:40
mean, there's no other way to put it. This
9:42
has been a really big thing for me. So
9:45
at the beginning of the year, I Worked
9:47
with all of my contractors that I
9:49
have meetings for and my team. And
9:51
I said, OK, is there any way
9:53
that we can line everything up on
9:55
Tuesday for me? So We'll have team
9:57
meetings. I'll meet with different contractors. I
9:59
have monthly review meetings. we do budget
10:01
reviews. I have gotten a down to
10:03
a place where basically one day a
10:05
month I have like back to back
10:07
to back to back to back to
10:09
back meetings. so it's just like a
10:11
day of meetings but then every other
10:13
week my to these are open wide
10:15
open and so before it was like
10:17
a meeting here. meeting their a meeting
10:19
there and so this is an amazing
10:21
of courses. Meeting days are draining so
10:23
much to zoom fatigue but it's totally
10:25
worth it to me to have that
10:27
one condensed a so that there are
10:29
more. Free calendar days which again
10:31
for me is like my favorite. Jays
10:34
an entrepreneur and so I just kind
10:36
of gotten to Pretax. is that creativity
10:38
in that time that I need to
10:40
get into that created space and then
10:43
at batching up my meeting days. So
10:45
if you can do that duet and
10:47
let me tell you I was very
10:49
nervous about communicating this Cool with that
10:51
my contractors because they all have businesses
10:54
and other clients. Every was like
10:56
totally cool as and so I think that
10:58
minnesota like oh is is going to be
11:00
problem. I hope this is an inconvenience. It's
11:02
like. He communique and be
11:04
flexible as much for you can. but
11:07
man once I got everything like that
11:09
I'm like this is awesome. Okay the
11:11
nice tip for. Bush Working
11:13
is called Project Sprints
11:15
again. If anyone was and track I
11:17
was. and track sprints, you go really fast
11:19
for a short amount of time. Now to
11:21
keep him a short amount of time, I'm
11:23
not. Talking about are promoting burnout causer
11:25
where it's like go really fast and
11:28
hard until you burn out. Talking about
11:30
short bursts. of intense work focused
11:32
on completing specific projects or goals
11:34
so this has been great and
11:36
this of most predominately shows up
11:38
in my business during launches where
11:40
we just have like all wine
11:42
linear focus and for me as
11:44
a multifaceted at mold a passionate
11:46
person it can be both beautiful
11:49
and also constricting to do this
11:51
but when you dedicate uninterrupted time
11:53
to one specific thing is you
11:55
can make progress on really fast
11:57
so So this could be talking
11:59
about setting aside a specific day,
12:01
setting aside one week or two
12:03
weeks or even a month where
12:05
you are solely focusing on
12:08
a new project or launch or a new
12:10
offer. You're revamping your website or whatever this
12:12
is but it's like very, very hyper focused
12:14
work where you kind of put the blinders
12:16
on and you forget about everything else. So
12:19
when I think about this, I think about our
12:21
live launches. So our launches are usually open for
12:24
a little bit over a week. So this is
12:26
when I'm doing live webinars, I'm supporting my students,
12:28
I'm answering questions, I'm in the support inbox,
12:30
like all of my focus. I'm
12:32
not thinking about the podcast, I'm not thinking about my book,
12:34
I'm not thinking about my blog. Like I
12:37
am all in on this one thing and so
12:39
is my team. It's like all hands on deck,
12:41
we're all in for one united goal and
12:44
I love this because when I know that we're
12:46
going into a launch, I am
12:48
batching, see the theme here, batching
12:50
everything else in advance so that
12:53
there is nothing else needing my
12:55
attention but this specific launch, this
12:57
one product, this one webinar, I'm
12:59
going all in. And
13:01
I have realized that when I do
13:03
this, I am so much
13:05
more freed up, I'm so
13:07
much more energized, I'm so much more clear,
13:10
there's so much more clarity for me. And
13:13
so if you do a project sprint, I
13:15
want for you to make sure this one
13:17
important thing that you have a very specific
13:19
end date because what can happen is a lot of
13:21
times you say I'm going to go hard until this
13:23
thing is done and then it takes longer and longer
13:25
and longer and all of a sudden you're just going
13:27
hard every day. And so the big
13:29
thing with a project sprint is like setting aside
13:32
one week and this is the end date, this
13:34
is when I'm done sprinting. I know your family,
13:36
your friends will appreciate this tip because it will
13:38
shift your relationship with it and it will also
13:40
give you these clear boundaries. I know when I
13:42
was just in my launch, I was literally going
13:45
from like live webinars to bringing my daughter to
13:47
swimming lessons and like the context switching in
13:49
those times were so hard for me because I
13:51
was still thinking about work, watching my daughter in
13:53
her swimming lessons, like trying to balance it all
13:55
and I remember telling Drew like this
13:58
next week, in
14:00
La La Land, I'm probably thinking about this launch
14:02
like, I just want you to know, here's when
14:04
it's going to be over with and I will
14:06
be back to normal. But like my brain is
14:09
like really hyper focused right now. And that's all
14:11
I'm thinking about. And so having that end date
14:13
is really powerful, especially if you adapt this project
14:15
sprint idea. Okay, next
14:18
is having a monthly planning day.
14:20
So this is where you reserve
14:22
one day each month solely for
14:24
planning and strategizing. This could involve
14:26
reviewing previous month's performance, which we've
14:28
been talking so much about is
14:30
just the power of measurement and
14:32
understanding your numbers. You can also
14:34
set goals for the upcoming month
14:36
and outline different steps that you
14:39
have in order to achieve these
14:41
goals. For us, this looks
14:43
like understanding what content is coming
14:45
out from the brand in the next month. So
14:47
this is a little bit newer for us. But
14:50
I am absolutely loving this. So what we're doing
14:52
is we have some key
14:54
team members get on the phone or
14:56
Zoom once a month. We
14:59
have my content project manager, my
15:01
online course project manager, my podcast
15:03
producer, my copywriter and my VP,
15:06
all of us, that's five of us, we get
15:09
on a Zoom call and we walk through everything
15:11
that is coming from the brand in the next
15:13
month. So we're talking about podcast episodes. We're talking
15:15
about emails that are going out. We're talking about
15:17
blogs that are being published. We're talking about promotions
15:19
we have going on. And we walk through it
15:22
all together. In the past, there
15:24
was this lack of cohesion in my messaging
15:26
because everything was kind of siloed off. So
15:28
like the emails are doing their own thing.
15:30
The podcast was doing its own thing. The
15:32
blog was like living in La La Land.
15:34
And so we decided like we want to
15:36
have this very collective united front of like
15:38
messaging. So if somebody sees a post on
15:40
Instagram and they open their email, it's the
15:42
same message and they're just getting it in
15:44
two different ways or on two different platforms. And
15:47
so in this call, we basically have a
15:49
doc ready to map out the entire month
15:52
we come prepared. Each area
15:54
of the business comes with like their
15:56
desires. It's almost like we do like
15:58
an auction of like who needs. Which
16:00
emails? Who wants, which content focuses
16:02
for which we to support their
16:04
goals within the overall brand. And
16:06
I love is because even if
16:08
you just had one Vi helping
16:10
you out or you are hiring
16:12
a copywriter, some the like that
16:14
making sure that you are unified
16:16
in the messaging and the mission
16:19
and also clear on the goals,
16:21
This helps so much and I
16:23
just love these monthly planning cause
16:25
because essentially we get on the
16:27
phone, we plan it out, I
16:29
spend the next. Hour after the call
16:31
outlining all the content dropping in my thoughts
16:33
leaving blooded less recording voice memos a like
16:35
this is what I want this to be
16:37
This is where I'm thinking for this, these
16:39
are the three points and want to make
16:41
sure this covers and then at my team
16:43
consent running with and so we already know
16:45
One month out what's coming out next month
16:47
and one of the things that I think
16:50
gives me the most freedom in my business
16:52
is not always wondering well what's next, what's
16:54
next Like it's so funny have so many
16:56
friends who are so last minute in their
16:58
businesses will be like hey. Can you
17:00
support this in a couple weeks? I'm like
17:02
dude, we already have the next two months
17:04
land out like you got to get Roman
17:06
calendar way sooner than As and so having
17:09
these monthly planning days can help you knock
17:11
out so much in a very short amount
17:13
of time. and it also just allows for
17:15
you to look out like the month at
17:17
a whole glands like you understand, like we
17:19
cannot look at our months as like themes
17:21
and we break them out week by week
17:23
by week and it just adds so much
17:25
clarity and consistency in your messaging and so
17:28
whatever that looks like for you. Whether
17:30
you sit down with yourself and schedule at
17:32
your next month of contents. Are you think
17:34
about like what's coming down the pipeline that I
17:37
want to make sure that we're really driving home
17:39
with our messaging and our content? It's amazing. On
17:43
top of my many titles as mom,
17:45
entrepreneur and creative, I've also added host

19:53
Of Contents. The next batch working
19:56
task that you need to try
19:58
is doing clinton. In days
20:00
or weeks. So this is so interesting
20:03
to me because I have just been
20:05
in like a song for with creating
20:07
content and I think here's why I
20:10
don't So my kids and their faces
20:12
on the internet anymore and I'm with
20:14
my kids be swell the time and
20:17
whole so much of my content. Is.
20:19
Not going to be published or ever see the
20:21
light of the internet because I'm with my kids
20:23
and I'm maintaining their privacy. and then the other
20:26
part is me just sitting at my laptop working
20:28
my butt off for this didn't as and that's
20:30
not really fun to watch and so when it
20:32
comes to creating contents I have had a harder
20:34
time of like what do I want to share?
20:36
What do I have to say? What value do
20:38
I have to add right now? like I just
20:40
feel like I'm in this like interesting stage of
20:42
life where I'm like. I don't
20:44
going a little bit more inward but
20:47
also like ah yes this is hard
20:49
but this that's working technique and totally.
20:51
Help the I'm so. Instead. Of trying
20:53
to create content. every single day, you
20:55
can dedicate one day or a week
20:57
to creating a much content and how
20:59
they can see you have it ready
21:02
to rock. So this could again include
21:04
writing at multiple blog posts, reporting multiple
21:06
bad guys, designing graphics, filming videos for
21:08
social like when you can batch similar
21:11
things together, you can get into a
21:13
creative flow. You can produce higher quality
21:15
content and if you are like me,
21:17
you can get ready once and shoot
21:19
have undergone ten and then the next
21:22
week. Be in or swap. and it
21:24
was so interesting. But as I was
21:26
outlining this episode that I'm recording right
21:28
now I also outlined for additional opposite.
21:30
So yesterday was about working day was
21:32
a deep work day of outlining all
21:34
of the episodes for the next month.
21:36
Today as I'm recording this is a
21:39
bass reporting day where I am recording
21:41
all day. I have everything set up
21:43
or one time everything's plugged in or
21:45
ready to go. That's amazing And so
21:47
what I love about this is like
21:49
I only have to get camera ready
21:51
once. I can get everything done in one
21:54
day and now I know I have podcast content
21:56
for the next month. Same thing for interviews. We
21:58
do an entire day where I will do you
22:00
all of the months interviews in one day. It's
22:02
back to back to back to back knock it
22:05
out and then I don't have to think about
22:07
the podcast, all my blog, then it just gets
22:09
to run. This whole see so
22:11
much and if you are someone like me
22:13
who as multiples acids your business where you
22:15
have different offers are different focuses it allows
22:17
me to like focus on the pod, guess
22:19
really deeply for a week and then sue
22:22
to the other areas of my business and
22:24
give my dedicated attention to those. and so
22:26
this has been really huge. It's also really
22:28
helpful like on days that I get haircuts
22:30
I'll try to shoot a bunch of be
22:32
role times and of just like making coffee
22:34
or making mind sure we're here my computer
22:37
running on the treadmill or whatever that is
22:39
and you shoot a bunch. Of be role
22:41
content and then I use that content in
22:43
my different things that a posts online self
22:45
again just thinking about backs working your content.
22:47
I have friends who still flies a million
22:49
from their team and they'll create an entire
22:51
months worth of social media content in a
22:54
day. The beautiful thing about it is it
22:56
eliminates that guilds of like I need to
22:58
create something. I've nothing to say. I don't
23:00
know to post a cabinet going to post
23:02
day but I'm really matter myself for not
23:04
posting today. An exciting gets you a fan
23:06
of heads cycle or that loop that a
23:08
lot of us can find herself. Then. Again,
23:11
The next signed his batch emailing.
23:13
So this is setting aside specific
23:16
times of days where you are
23:18
focusing on your inbox. Now this
23:20
is really huge because I don't
23:22
know if you are like me
23:25
but I see and and can.
23:27
I can pinpoint people that are
23:29
constantly checking and responding to every
23:32
email as they come in. Don't
23:35
do that. You are letting your email control
23:37
your day. You're letting your email control your
23:39
Albert. You're letting people in your inbox. I
23:41
dictate where your time is going and is
23:44
just the best way. To suck the productivity
23:46
out of your day. And so instead
23:48
of doing that batch work together so that
23:50
you can minimize his actions, plow through your
23:52
inbox and get back to the work. That
23:55
you're doing. I. Hit a new
23:57
high in my business earlier this year of i
23:59
kicked up as. Your and I like one
24:01
of my goals as Embark Zero consistently. There
24:03
was a stretcher time where I was rocking
24:05
at and honestly insult so good it's I've
24:07
gotten a bit out of practice on that
24:09
and I am going to get back to
24:11
i'm committing brain area back to that because
24:13
honestly it felt so amazing. I am at
24:15
the Queen. I don't have this has anything
24:17
to do it a D H D and
24:20
indecisive ness but I am the clean air,
24:22
reading an email and in Marquee as or
24:24
on read and time is up. I'll get
24:26
back to it later and ultimately if I
24:28
get really honest I already probably know. The
24:30
response and I email. but there's something in
24:32
me that doesn't want to deliver it, whether
24:35
it's declining an opportunity or thing down to
24:37
a partnership or whatever it is. And so
24:39
when I found myself being indecisive is when
24:41
I see my inbox get a little bit
24:44
busier and I'm not responding to people in
24:46
a timely manner and I don't want that.
24:48
It's not fair to other people, it's not
24:50
great, my anxiety and so I want to
24:53
get back to place where like I just
24:55
bullets out my email inbox, get it back
24:57
to zero and let it be and one.
25:00
Thing that I've found is like when I'm
25:02
in like a good, energetic, decisive mode. That's
25:04
when I can get through my emails super
25:06
vast and just be really clear in communication
25:08
and so making sure that you're not just
25:10
like doing at the end of a day
25:12
when you're already just like overworked and you're
25:15
tired and you don't want to make any
25:17
more decision self figure that out. But here's
25:19
one tips is like do your emails in
25:21
a time where you feel energetically aligned. The
25:23
also, I would recommend doing it in the
25:25
afternoon if you can, because if you start
25:27
with money to emailed at eight am, you
25:30
literally. Just given his email train of back
25:32
and forth all day long. so when you
25:34
can do it in the afternoon you can
25:36
catch people were then they have time to
25:38
respond and you're not starting that email tag
25:40
it is there again is nothing less productive
25:42
than that. One other thing that I can
25:45
sometimes you they'll set a timer of like
25:47
I'm in to get in there for twenty
25:49
minutes and get through many emails as I
25:51
can and a lot of hims when they
25:53
get started I and it just finishing south
25:55
an email batch bullets is an amazing amazing
25:57
think of a seasonal bashing. So excited about.
26:00
Now. There. Are certain tasks in
26:02
your life or your business that are
26:04
more seasonal or cyclical nature? You can
26:06
batch those accordingly. So for example, I'm
26:09
a retail business my batch inventory management
26:11
in restocking activities at the end of
26:13
each quarter or before major holidays. I
26:15
will never forget doing inventory and hardest.
26:18
And how stressful hours? Oh my gosh, This
26:20
allows you to streamline processes and anticipate
26:22
workload fluctuation. So there are few things
26:24
that only happened once or twice a
26:26
year and can be really beautifully batch.
26:28
One of those when I think of
26:31
this is like annual planning. So like
26:33
I want to sit down and create
26:35
annual plans. One sitting, knock it out
26:37
and make sure that the rest the
26:39
team has the entire settle for the
26:41
or I used to never be like
26:43
as a surreally plan in quarters freshly
26:45
as a mom of young kids are
26:47
just like couldn't even anticipate what life
26:49
would. Be like three months from now of annual doesn't
26:52
work for you to do quarterly, but I do think
26:54
it's smart to know where you're going, what's coming up,
26:56
What you. Should be preparing for said. This
26:58
year I flew out my Vp my right
27:00
hand Mercer to Minnesota and we sat down.
27:03
It was in September and we mapped out
27:05
this entire year and then current. I actually
27:07
both flew to Chicago for two days where
27:09
we busted out so much planning where we
27:12
said month by month. Here's what's happening here,
27:14
that's going on here that we need to
27:16
do and so it was really beautiful. Kids
27:18
like obviously to do these things on zoom
27:21
but I found that like when you investment
27:23
hundred to be together and to like read
27:25
each other's energy into throw things, throw spaghetti.
27:28
Of the ones you had, sex is so
27:30
powerful self. I actually really enjoyed the in
27:32
person components and I just felt like it
27:34
was really beneficial because we're both able to
27:36
get utter clarity on this tasks. Other things
27:38
are like your annual tax prop, just different
27:40
things like that you want to plan on
27:42
time and then just like knock it out.
27:45
so like instead of trying to collect your
27:47
forums or different things like that like set
27:49
aside and entire day and just knocked out,
27:51
you're going to feel so much better. I
27:53
think that the worst feeling in the world
27:55
is when you like dipping your tone something.
27:57
Or you're getting like a tiny bit of
27:59
progress, but it does the like enough to
28:02
celebrate and then you just felt guilty that
28:04
you didn't get more done. And so there's
28:06
just something so beautiful about knocking something out.
28:08
Okay, next is collaborative
28:10
workshops and masterminds. So.
28:13
You. Know me, I've been a of Mass
28:15
Rain since like twenty sixteen and and I've
28:17
just sounds so much power in setting aside
28:19
a focus, time to be with peers or
28:22
learn from a mentor and to really like
28:24
just be all in on inexperience whenever I
28:26
go to those I misread no other work
28:29
obligations like I am all in one track
28:31
mind. I'm their one of the things as
28:33
amazing as like if you do a workshop
28:35
or a mastermind a lot of times they
28:38
want you to show up with like one
28:40
problem you want to solve or something that
28:42
you want help. Engineering and I love
28:44
that because again, when you think about
28:46
batching, you're like really focusing on like
28:48
the one thing I want to walk
28:50
away with understanding is X, y or
28:52
Z and so now only does it
28:54
help you really get clear on what
28:56
it is that you need. it's but
28:59
it also allows you to really pay
29:01
attention to those types of things that's
29:03
gonna help you move forward or get
29:05
further whatever that looks like and so
29:07
lacerated a mastermind. He was like super
29:09
focus thinking of batching with authors. There's
29:11
a bunch of bestselling authors and that.
29:13
Was Amazing is of is just like
29:15
a deep dive into books than this
29:17
year I did a mastermind which was
29:19
for C O than moms and so
29:21
it was like a deep dive in
29:23
like motherhood and ceiling and femininity. I
29:25
was like so amazing and so when
29:27
you think about doing either something like
29:30
a collaborative workshop where you're getting together
29:32
with industry peers in your all sharing
29:34
information or things like that or masterminds
29:36
you want to bring everyone together for
29:38
this focused amount of time he and
29:40
when you do that like you can
29:42
get so many questions. Answered You can
29:44
fast track your success, You can learn new
29:46
strategies, you can streamline your operations like there's
29:49
just so much benefit to At and I
29:51
have found you know I've been a part
29:53
of Masterminds Words like every month there's a
29:55
monthly call. those are awesome. But the deepest
29:58
most integrate of work happens when. Everyone
30:00
is all and gather for just a few
30:02
days and so I love that. Another.
30:04
Way to batch that I highly encourage
30:07
and I think most entrepreneurs probably aren't
30:09
doing is adding so pissed learning days.
30:11
So this is where you dedicate regular
30:13
blocks of time the learning a new
30:15
skill to developing in a different way
30:18
too challenging yourself. This could be like
30:20
taking online courses, going to web and
30:22
are reading a specific book by really
30:24
focusing and like that senior learning. Together
30:26
you can continue to improve your knowledge
30:29
you can see added the curb and
30:31
you can also save yourself a lot
30:33
of time that money. And frustration. I
30:35
feel like a lotta times we leave
30:37
the learning for like are left over
30:39
or like our extra time and are
30:41
no feel like me but I never
30:43
seem to have any extra time since
30:45
I've really learned that if I want
30:48
to get a new skill or really
30:50
dive deep into a topic I have
30:52
to schedule it and set aside specific
30:54
time that is uninterrupted for it and
30:56
so like I said, I'm using Monday's
30:58
of my deep work day so this
31:00
is also days. Has some days I'm
31:02
like creating like yesterday as batching all.
31:04
of these of her allies for the podcast. but
31:06
like last week's I was like very quiet with
31:09
myself I was journaling, I was taking time to
31:11
learn as reading as listen to a podcast and
31:13
so. If you are someone
31:15
who has maybe like Curtis an online course
31:17
and you never dove in, you need to
31:19
make sure that you are setting aside a
31:22
specific day to learn something and remember. With.
31:24
Knowledge you invest in at one time
31:27
you get. you reap the rewards for
31:29
the rest of your life as many
31:31
times as you implement that peace and
31:33
so it is so worth it for
31:35
you to learn some thanks so that
31:37
that knowledge and that skill compounds your
31:40
results. And so you might think I
31:42
don't have time to learn, but you
31:44
honestly don't have time not to learn.
31:46
You have to focus and prioritize learning
31:48
so that you can grow and you
31:51
can track your results, even see results.
31:53
Time you can save. Yourself histories and
31:55
you can save yourself money and so
31:57
again even turn decades and days with
31:59
learning. So. Make sure that when
32:01
you are looking at you schedule that
32:03
you're backing and setting aside some uninterrupted
32:05
time at for does that. Gold
32:09
Diggers, we all know the Be to
32:12
Be landscape can be a bit complex
32:14
from lengthy buying cycles, the complicated decision
32:16
making processes. reaching your target audience can
32:19
be tough. but I found a solution.
32:21
Taylor just for you. Linked In adds
32:23
a whopping seventy nine percent of Be
32:26
to Be content marketers. They linked in
32:28

32:30
That's because with Linked In as you're
32:33

32:35
hoping for the best, your strategically building
32:37
relationships and driving real results. Were
32:39
talking about a platform with over

33:41
Planning a little bit of time where
33:44
it is very dedicated if you are
33:46
able to do something outside of your
33:48
normal setting where you have the ability
33:50
to get quite with yourself to set
33:53
goals, to reflect, to feel rejuvenated. Something
33:55
I think a lot of us don't
33:57
feel enough of. this can be or.
34:00
Really great place to just check. Am I
34:02
still in alignment? What feels, get what is
34:04
exciting to me? Do my plan still make
34:06
sense? Are my goals still in alignment with
34:08
what I want? Right now I know it
34:10
is not always feasible for people to like,
34:12
take multiple days off a work and to
34:14
go to a wonderful fiancee spar retreats, but
34:16
like whatever this can look like. I
34:19
think that a lot of times we don't set
34:21
aside enough time to really reflect and get quiet
34:23
and seen. Why may I think when that happens,
34:25
live Hims. We wake up two years down the
34:28
road and rug. This is not what I thought
34:30
it. Was going to be or this isn't feel how
34:32
I thought for me. I've really learned,
34:34
especially as a mom, I need alone
34:36
time. It's like the number one thing
34:39
I crave. Not because they don't love
34:41
my children, my husband, but because I
34:43
process. Alone. Like I need
34:45
to like reconnect with self with my soul with
34:48
a voice inside the me and I can't do
34:50
that when I'm with other people when it's noisy
34:52
and sell for me. Like last year I was
34:54
so fortunate I got to do a bunch of
34:57
little get so I did a little get away
34:59
with my college friends. I did he get away
35:01
with my Wisconsin runs, I did a get away
35:03
with my business friends and like I had a
35:05
lot of very intentional girl time that didn't just
35:08
happen last year but it was through a lot
35:10
of strategic planning by even this year. like I'm
35:12
planning a couple little many retreats where I'm getting.
35:14
Away sometimes with other people, but I really
35:16
want to. My biggest things I want to
35:18
do this year's to do a solo retreat.
35:21
So. That I can really get quiet
35:23
and clear it myself. And so when you
35:25
think about. Personal. Growth and checking
35:27
in with yourself. Setting aside that intentional time
35:29
regardless of where you are, whether you're at
35:31
home or not to really take some time
35:34
to reflect and my encourage my years do
35:36
Not wait until December Thirty first to do
35:38
this. Do these little check ins with yourself
35:40
throughout the year and a hobby signal I
35:42
met and help make sure that you're clear
35:44
on what it is that you really want.
35:46
okay the last two that I have our
35:49
personal incentives so it's kind of an hour
35:51
talking to my team about this episode. I
35:53
so excited to just I. Actually loved
35:55
his topic about working so
35:57
nerdy. And to my team member said
35:59
that. Like to almost. They create rules
36:01
for themselves to incentivize themselves to get things
36:04
done. It either this is a really unique
36:06
way and you have to do this and
36:08
as healthy way levied a preface that but
36:10
I actually really like that. So Christie my
36:13
podcast producers that like I'll tell myself that
36:15
until the and box that zero I'm in
36:17
a weight on having my coffee or that
36:20
once I posted he and done something then
36:22
I can get the reward of sunshine into
36:24
you my dogs for a walk and so
36:26
a china held like hyper focus and stop
36:29
past switching and incentivize. Is some until I
36:31
get that has complete would honestly feel so
36:33
good Brooklyn my copyright in Queens at it
36:35
I do the same thing as helps me
36:37
because thinks A D d I'm going to
36:40
test switch anyways even without my own permission
36:42
so it should be a positive, productive and
36:44
plan to sort period of time and she
36:46
said it helps to see my work clothes
36:49
as sprints vs marathon so she can do
36:51
and go hard for short amount of time
36:53
and and take a breather and then come
36:55
back to it and then the last an
36:57
Mit and said is selfish batching so one.
37:00
Of my team members, Murtha who's like my
37:02
V P issues my right hand. She said
37:04
I've honed in on selfish batching per se
37:06
where I make blocks for me and that
37:09
shifted how I approach might A is my
37:11
productivity, my creativity and even my mood. For
37:13
instance, every morning when I log in I
37:16
block thirty minutes to read three medium articles
37:18
from their daily roundup that they send me.
37:20
Some are about business, some about person developing,
37:22
some are fun plant medicine research but this
37:25
kicks my brain off without the fall of
37:27
trap of like aren't here we go Here's
37:29
what I've gotta do. I personally do this
37:31
as well. As soon as Drew leaves the
37:34
house with the kids to head to school
37:36
for cocoa stats and I take thirty minutes
37:38
to meditate, I lay on my Pms Matt,
37:41
I do my red lights and I just
37:43
kinda like ease into my day but it's
37:45
like this selfish of like less bash this
37:47
stuff first the care stuff than we screwed
37:50
into works with any delays that like instance
37:52
cortisol spiking hustle culture that so many have.
37:55
So. There you have it. So many
37:57
different ways that you can dodge where it i
37:59
be. Way we'd even just one of
38:01
the is and started implementing. I promise you
38:04
no matter who you are you can benefit
38:06
from having more focused words and really just
38:08
getting clear on like sure is my goal

38:13
