He came by the cafe to tell us all about how he got into medical illustration, what going viral has meant for his life, why this type of representation matters and what his hopes are for more diversity in medical illustration. About Chidiebere Ibe
Chidiebere Ibe, BSc is a medical student, a Nigerian Medical Illustrator and a professional among the few in Africa. He is the Creative Director at the Association of Future African Neurosurgeons (AFAN), Young Continental Association of African Neurosurgical Societies (YCAANS) and Creative Director and Chief Medical Illustrator of the Journal of Global Neurosurgery. He is also a Junior Committee Member-World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies - Global Neurosurgery. Chidiebere Ibe is passionate about contemporary illustrations of black patients and has been acclaimed globally for creating the black fetus illustration that went viral. He hopes to pursue a career in paediatric neurosurgery.
