Welcome to Gospel Truth with
0:03
Andrew Wamick, a teaching ministry
0:05
that focuses on God's unconditional
0:07
love and grace. Andrew,
0:09
I'm very thankful to learn from you,
0:12
to have learned from you and to continue to learn from
0:14
you. I just appreciate your boldness in
0:16
the truth. Don't stop it. And
0:18
I don't think you will. And
0:22
now here's Andrew. Welcome
0:25
to our Wednesday's broadcast of the Gospel
0:27
Truth. Well this week
0:29
I've been talking about what
0:32
is Christianity? What is being
0:34
a true Christian? What distinguishes
0:36
Christianity from other religions?
0:39
And I tell you, we've already said some
0:41
really powerful things. I've got this little booklet,
0:43
This is What We Give Out to People
0:45
That Come Forward in My Meetings to Accept
0:47
the Lord or Receive the Baptism of the
0:49
Holy Spirit. It's entitled The New
0:51
You and the Holy
0:53
Spirit. So the first half of this
0:55
book is about what I've been talking
0:58
about this week, about what is a
1:00
Christian, what constitutes truly being born again.
1:02
The second half is about the baptism
1:04
of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of
1:06
the Holy Spirit, specifically speaking in tongues.
1:08
And so we have this book in
1:10
English as well as Spanish and it's
1:12
a free giveaway to you this week.
1:15
I'd encourage you to please get this.
1:17
I've already said a lot of things and
1:20
I hadn't got time to
1:23
go back and put all of this in its total
1:25
context. But I've been focused
1:28
on John chapter eight where
1:30
Jesus was defending himself
1:32
against the people who were criticizing him. And
1:35
it says in John chapter eight and verse
1:37
30, as he spake, these
1:39
words, many believed on him. This
1:42
is talking about the Jews. And then
1:44
in verse 31, then said Jesus to
1:46
those Jews which believed on him, if
1:48
you continue in my word,
1:51
then are you my disciples indeed, and
1:53
you shall know the truth and the truth shall
1:56
make you free. And I've been stuck
1:58
there for the last two days just talking. Walk
2:00
and about what his disciples ship
2:02
versus conversion. and sadly the church
2:04
has chains to there to help
2:06
to make converts not to make
2:08
disciples. Because of that. that's turn
2:11
many many many people away from
2:13
the Lord out. we ought to
2:15
be making disciples. Instead of just
2:17
converts. But I need to move on beyond
2:19
the is. That
2:21
what was the reaction of these jews It
2:24
believed on him. Remember Verse Thirty says it,
2:26
they believed known him And when he said
2:28
if you continue in my word dinner you
2:30
my disciples indeed and ye or know the
2:32
truth and the truth shall make you free.
2:34
What was their reaction. And. Burst Thirty
2:37
three as says they answered and said we be
2:39
abraham seed and were never in Bond Is
2:41
the any man how say as they are you
2:43
should be made free. You. Know this
2:45
is nearly funny to me. That. These
2:48
people said we're Abrahams children.
2:50
We've never been. A bond
2:52
is standing That is so
2:54
ridiculous. I mean the Jewish
2:56
nation as a whole was taken
2:59
into captivity and spend seventy years
3:01
and Babylonian Captivity. They had been
3:03
oppressed by so many different groups
3:05
and it this time the Romans
3:08
were oppressing Ma'am and they were
3:10
living under terrible bond is they
3:12
were at the whims of all
3:14
of these Roman governors and an
3:16
even Herod. The. Jew that
3:19
was placed in power over them. He
3:21
was a puppet of the Rom and
3:23
government's they were in Bond is everybody.
3:25
They were not a free nation and
3:27
yet they said we've never been a
3:29
bondage. Danny Man. That's. Just like people,
3:31
the day that when you say that Jesus was
3:33
to set you free and I think what, what
3:35
do I need to be set free from. Other
3:38
captives have lost their kept his of
3:40
anger, their tech captives of fear, their
3:42
captives of out all and don't been
3:44
on and on. You could go in
3:46
there in bonn install of these things
3:48
and yet people are thinking what do
3:50
I need to be set free from.
3:53
I'll tell you there is no
3:56
true freedom. Without. Jesus.
4:00
And I know that there's lots of people that
4:02
would take issue with that and say, oh no,
4:04
Jesus is what restricts you. Man,
4:06
the only restrictions he places on you
4:08
are because he's the one that created
4:11
us. He knows what it is that
4:13
truly makes us happy. And you'll hear
4:15
people say, but man, you're just married
4:17
to one person. You can't go around
4:19
and sleep around and have multiple relationships.
4:21
They think that's freedom. That's bondage. That's
4:24
a person that can't control themselves. They
4:26
can't hold a relationship together. They don't
4:28
know what it's like to truly love
4:30
one person. They think that this
4:32
free love is love. It's not love. It's
4:34
lust. And you become bound
4:37
to it. Matter of fact, Jesus said the
4:39
same thing to him. In the next verse, Jesus answered
4:41
and said, barely, verily I say unto you, whosoever
4:44
commit a sin is the servant of
4:46
sin. And the servant abideth not in
4:48
the house forever, but the
4:50
son abideth ever. If the son therefore
4:53
shall make you free, you
4:55
shall be free indeed. In
4:57
other words, these people are saying we free. We've
4:59
never been in bondage to anybody. And he said,
5:01
you are the servant of sin. Sin
5:03
controls you. You know, there's
5:06
some people that just think, well, I'm a free
5:08
spirit and I say whatever I want to say.
5:10
And they think that that's freedom. I tell you
5:12
what real liberty and freedom is, is the ability
5:14
to measure your words and to
5:16
say things that help people and benefit people.
5:18
Now there's a time for us telling the
5:21
truth and sometimes the truth will offend people,
5:23
but there's a lot of people that think,
5:25
no, I'm just free to say whatever, what
5:27
it is, you are bound. You
5:30
don't have a filter between your brain and
5:32
your mouth. And that's not freedom.
5:35
That's gonna get you in trouble. Matter
5:37
of fact, the Bible says the same thing
5:39
over in James chapter three, that the tongue
5:41
is an unruly member and it sets on
5:43
fire the course of nature and it is
5:45
set on fire of hell. And it says,
5:47
no man can tame the tongue. You
5:49
have to have God's power to be able to
5:52
tame your tongue and get to where you use
5:54
words only to benefit people
5:56
and not strike back and hurt
5:58
them. There's
6:00
a lot of people thinking, well, I'm free and
6:02
I'm just fine. And yet
6:05
you're depressed and discouraged and you
6:07
aren't enjoying life, contemplating suicide, and
6:09
you have to take drugs to
6:13
be able to cope with things. I've
6:15
watched some movies lately and
6:17
something traumatic will happen to somebody say, I need
6:19
a drink. And they take some kind of a
6:22
liquor to be able to numb their
6:24
senses or to give them courage. Man,
6:27
that's bondage. That is
6:29
bondage that you have to live by
6:32
doping yourself up and doing
6:34
something. I
6:36
know I may be offending some people by saying what
6:39
I'm saying, but I'm telling you the truth. And as
6:41
Jesus said, you shall know the truth and
6:43
it's the truth shall make you free.
6:45
And if you say, no, I don't
6:47
need freedom. I'm doing just fine. I'm
6:50
dealing with depression, discouragement, sickness, disease, poverty,
6:52
all of these things. And I'm free. No, you
6:54
aren't free. You aren't free
6:57
until you let Jesus take
6:59
control of your life. And
7:01
these people took offense at what
7:04
he was saying, and they answered and said,
7:06
Abraham is our father. Jesus
7:08
said unto them, if you were Abraham's children,
7:10
you would do the works of Abraham. In
7:12
other words, they were claiming that they had
7:15
a relationship with God just because of their
7:17
physical lineage. There are people that
7:19
do the same thing today. There are people
7:21
that saying, well, I was raised in a
7:24
Christian home. Our family has been Christian for
7:26
generations. We're all Christians. God
7:29
doesn't have any grandchildren. Every
7:31
single person has to have
7:33
a personal relationship with God
7:35
just because they were Abraham's
7:37
dissidents did not make them
7:40
a true Jew. You
7:42
know, let me turn over and read something that
7:44
the apostle Paul said here in
7:46
Romans chapter two and
7:51
in Romans chapter two,
7:55
it's talking about what a true
7:57
Jew is in verse 20. 28,
8:00
for he is not a Jew which is
8:02
one outwardly, neither is that
8:04
circumcision which is outward in the flesh, but
8:07
he is a Jew which is one inwardly,
8:09
and circumcision is that in the heart, in
8:12
the spirit, and not in the letter whose
8:14
praise is not of men, but of God.
8:17
There's many people that will find this
8:19
offensive just as they did when Jesus
8:21
said, you aren't truly Abraham's children. To
8:24
be a descendant of Abraham was a
8:26
spiritual thing. It was a matter of
8:29
faith, and this is expounded on in
8:31
Romans chapter four, also in other places.
8:34
To be a Christian isn't something that
8:36
you inherit. You don't get christened as
8:38
a child and become a Christian. There's
8:41
many people that say that, and they will say
8:43
that they're a Christian, and that I was raised
8:45
a Christian, but you can't be raised a Christian.
8:48
You could be raised in a Christian home. You
8:50
could be raised in a Christian environment. You
8:53
may go through some of the sacraments, but none of
8:55
those things make you a Christian. Going
8:58
to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than sitting
9:00
in a garage and make you a car. You
9:03
know, if you're a car, you ought
9:05
to go into a garage for your
9:07
own protection. If you're a Christian, you
9:09
ought to go to church, but going
9:11
to church does not make you a
9:13
Christian. Being baptized as an infant doesn't
9:15
make you a Christian. Being baptized as
9:18
an adult doesn't make you a Christian
9:20
unless you have believed with all of
9:22
your heart. Over in, I
9:24
think it was the eighth chapter, of
9:27
the book of Acts, where you see
9:30
Philip going down and preaching to the
9:32
Ethiopian eunuch, and the Ethiopian eunuch received
9:34
it, and he says, what hinders me
9:37
from being baptized? And Philip told him,
9:39
if you believe with all your heart,
9:42
you may be baptized. So Philip right
9:44
there said that the requirement for being
9:46
baptized is you have to believe with
9:49
all your heart. An infant can't believe
9:51
with all of his heart. And if
9:53
you were just going through some religious
9:55
ceremony and you're baptized, whether it's sprinkled
9:58
or dumped, or if you just... told
10:00
them under until they really repent. It
10:02
doesn't matter what you do if you
10:04
didn't believe with all of your heart,
10:07
it does not produce salvation. I
10:10
know the things I'm saying may really be bothering
10:12
some people, but I'm telling you the truth and
10:14
the truth is what will make you free. And
10:17
these people got mad and said, we're Abraham's children.
10:19
And Jesus responded to them and
10:22
said in verse 42, if God were
10:24
your father, you would love me. I
10:27
proceeded forth and came from God, neither came
10:29
I of myself, but he sent
10:32
me. Why do you not understand my
10:34
speech? Even because you cannot
10:36
hear my word, you are of your
10:38
father, the devil. Remember
10:41
in verse 30, he was talking to people
10:43
who believed on him. And
10:47
yet he said, you are of your father, the devil. This
10:50
shows you that just believing on
10:52
Jesus. Now there is a difference if
10:55
it's saving faith, according to James chapter
10:57
two, it will have works that
11:01
go along with it. He'll have corresponding actions.
11:03
You know, it was John Calvin that said
11:05
it this way. He says faith alone saves,
11:08
but saving faith is never
11:10
alone. You know, if
11:13
we were in a room together
11:15
and if you were here where I could see you and
11:18
stuff, and if I said, there's a fire and
11:20
the building's burning, we're all going to die if
11:22
we don't get out of here. If
11:25
you really believed it, there would be
11:27
some type of action. Now
11:29
there could be a variation of action.
11:31
Some people might panic and
11:33
just start screaming or crying. Some people
11:36
might faint. Some people might,
11:38
you know, try and put the fire out. Other
11:40
people might want to get out of the building,
11:42
but for you to just sit there and say,
11:44
I believe there's a fire and we're all going
11:46
to die if we don't do something. You
11:49
can't even conceive that. If a person
11:51
really believed that their life was in
11:53
danger, they would take some type of
11:55
evasive action. They would do something.
11:57
And yet we have a lot of people that'll
11:59
say, Oh yeah, I'm a Christian. And
12:01
yet if they were arrested for being a Christian,
12:04
there wouldn't be enough evidence to convict them. There
12:07
is no evidence of it in their life. They
12:09
don't change. They don't have any
12:11
difference. Now I will admit this, that
12:14
a Christian can still sin. A
12:16
Christian can still make mistakes. Matter of
12:18
fact, I'll even phrase it and say,
12:20
a Christian does still sin. None
12:22
of us live a perfectly
12:25
holy life. If nothing else, we
12:27
may not violate all the commands
12:29
of what we aren't supposed to
12:32
do. But all of the
12:34
commands about what we are supposed to do
12:36
will wind up violating those. You
12:39
know, in Romans chapter 14, verse
12:41
23, it says, whatsoever is
12:43
not of faith is sin. That's
12:46
the last part of that verse. And
12:48
so you could say that sin is not
12:50
only when you violate a direct command, but
12:52
if you ever get to where you aren't
12:54
in faith, if you're in fear, if you're
12:56
worrying and taking care about things, that's sin.
12:59
James 4, 17 says to
13:01
him that knows to do good and does it
13:03
not. To him it is sin. So
13:06
sin isn't only breaking a command. Sin
13:08
is when we're supposed to be loving
13:10
our wife as Christ loved the church
13:12
and the wife is supposed to be
13:14
reverenting her husband as the church reverences
13:16
Christ. And if we
13:18
fail to do that, that's sin. So if
13:20
you use the Bible definition of sin, even
13:23
Christians still sin, but the
13:25
difference is you don't want to sin.
13:27
And if you do sin, your heart
13:30
smites you and convicts you and you
13:32
don't like it. A person that can
13:34
say, oh yeah, I'm a Christian. And
13:36
then they go out and they just
13:38
are deliberately against everything that God says,
13:41
that's a lie. We've got
13:43
people in our government. I could call
13:45
names right now, but there are people
13:47
that claim to be Catholics. And
13:49
yet they will sit there and they are for
13:52
abortion, past even birth.
13:54
They have voted and try and
13:56
promote that there's up to 20.
14:00
something day period of time that if the woman
14:02
just decides that she doesn't want the child they
14:04
can just let it die. That's
14:06
demonic. There are
14:08
people that are claiming to be
14:11
Christians and yet they are sitting
14:13
there and promoting homosexuality and transgenderism
14:15
and mutilation of our children through
14:17
these hormone blockers and sex reassignment
14:20
surgery. That's demonic. And
14:22
there's people that are claiming to be Christians, but
14:25
their actions do not correspond. Now
14:27
again, I believe that somebody could make
14:29
a mistake but for somebody to just
14:32
stand there and adamantly refuse to admit
14:34
that I'm wrong and to say I'm
14:36
sorry and want to repent and saying
14:38
that what God calls you
14:40
know evil, they're calling it good.
14:42
What God calls light, they're calling
14:44
it dark. For a
14:46
person to just be against everything that
14:49
God says, it's a
14:51
lie. It's a deception. There's
14:53
a lot of people that are claiming the
14:55
name of the Lord, but just as Jesus said
14:57
to these people who believed on him, these
15:00
are people that believed on him, believed on him how? Believed
15:03
that he was the Messiah. They believed
15:05
it and yet he
15:08
said you are of your father the devil
15:10
and the lust of your father you will
15:12
do. He was a murderer
15:14
from the beginning and a bode not in
15:16
the truth because there is no
15:19
truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he
15:21
speaketh of his own for he is a liar
15:23
and the father of it. This
15:27
was talking to people who believed on him.
15:30
So there are a lot of people today who
15:33
are saying, oh yeah, I believe on Jesus. Believe
15:35
on him how? Like the devil's or in
15:38
James chapter 2 verse 19, you believe that
15:40
there's one God, you do
15:42
well. The devil's also believe in Trimble. You
15:45
know, that's one of the most sarcastic statements
15:47
in the entire Bible. It's
15:49
basically saying you believe that there's one
15:51
God, you hadn't done anything the devil
15:53
hasn't done. Goes on to say in
15:55
the next verse, but want them to
15:57
know vain man that faith without works.
16:00
is dead. So it's
16:02
as simple as just believe on the
16:04
Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be
16:06
saved. That's why Paul told the Philippian
16:09
jailer when he said, sirs, what must
16:11
I do to be saved? He said,
16:13
believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and
16:15
thou shalt be saved in thy house.
16:17
It's that simple. All
16:20
you got to do is believe
16:22
that Jesus was God manifest in
16:24
the flesh, that he took God's
16:26
wrath and punishment for your sin
16:28
and my sin into his own
16:30
body. And he suffered the punishment
16:33
that you and I deserved. And
16:36
all we have to do to receive
16:39
that is believe. Believe
16:42
that he was the Christ. Believe
16:44
that he paid for our sins and
16:46
believe that we are now accepted in
16:48
the sight of God through what Jesus
16:51
did. It's that simple, but
16:53
it's not that easy. It's not
16:55
just mouthing the words. It's
16:57
not just going through the motions. It's not just
16:59
going and signing a card at a church. It
17:03
has to be a heartfelt commitment. It
17:06
says in Romans chapter 10 verse nine,
17:08
that if thou shalt confess with thy
17:10
mouth the Lord Jesus, that's
17:12
more than just saying that word.
17:14
That's saying that you're turning your
17:16
life over. You are trusting your
17:18
life, your eternal destiny based on
17:20
Jesus. You are making him Lord.
17:23
That doesn't mean that you're saying you'll never mess
17:25
up because you can't do that. All
17:28
of us fail to be the person that we're supposed
17:30
to be. So this isn't saying
17:32
that I'll never make another mistake. I'll
17:34
never do anything wrong, but you are
17:37
making him your Lord. You are willingly
17:39
submitting your life to him and committing
17:41
your life. You're trusting completely upon him.
17:44
So if you will confess with your
17:46
mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in
17:49
your heart that God raised him from
17:51
the dead, you shall be saved. But
17:54
then the next verse says, for with
17:56
the heart man believes unto righteousness and
17:58
with the mouth Confession is
18:00
made unto salvation. That's saying that
18:03
it has to be a heartfelt
18:05
commitment, not just something from your
18:08
head where you intellectually believe that
18:10
Jesus is God. Just
18:13
because you were raised in a Christian
18:15
environment and you've heard these things and
18:17
you believe that Jesus died on the
18:19
cross, you may believe all of the
18:22
elements of salvation, but from your heart,
18:24
have you committed your life to
18:26
God? Have you truly trusted in
18:28
him? You
18:31
know, my personal experience is that when
18:33
I was eight years old, I
18:35
heard a sermon in our Baptist church and
18:38
the pastor preached a sermon that he entitled,
18:41
a tour of hell. And
18:44
what he was doing was talking about that
18:46
in hell, he was going through and showing
18:48
you that not only were the murderers and
18:51
the rapist and terrible people there, but
18:53
he was talking about good people, famous
18:56
people, people that I'd heard of even as an
18:58
eight year old, that they would be in hell.
19:01
And he was naming names. And
19:03
this shook me to my core because basically
19:05
I had this concept that if you're good,
19:08
like if you had a, you know, one
19:10
of those scales where you have a fulcrum
19:12
in the middle and you have these things
19:14
on the side, if you're good over here,
19:16
outweighs your bad, then basically you
19:18
could make it into heaven. And I just thought
19:20
that, you know, I was a relatively good person
19:22
and that surely God would accept me. And
19:25
for this pastor to be saying that
19:27
there were good people, people that were
19:29
respected, that were in hell, that
19:32
shocked me and it messed up
19:34
my paradigm. And I remember after
19:36
church, I went home and
19:38
I asked my dad, I said, what was
19:40
he talking about? That these good people, people
19:42
that were on magazine covers and famous and
19:44
stuff like this, we're gonna be in hell.
19:47
And praise God that my dad explained
19:49
to me that it's not good
19:51
people that go to heaven and bad
19:53
people that go to hell, but
19:56
only forgiven people. It
19:58
didn't matter whether they were good or bad. relative
20:00
to other people, all of us of sin
20:02
and come short of the glory of God,
20:04
Romans And
20:06
it's only people who receive salvation through
20:08
Jesus that go to heaven, and it's
20:10
only people that reject salvation through Jesus
20:13
that go to hell. And there's going
20:15
to be good people going to hell
20:17
because they didn't understand that they had
20:20
to have a savior. They thought they
20:22
were good enough that God would save
20:24
them on the basis of what they've
20:27
done. And hell's going
20:29
to be full of good people,
20:31
relatively good compared to other people.
20:34
But the Scripture says that they
20:36
comparing themselves among themselves and measuring
20:38
themselves by themselves are not
20:41
wise. You know, I've
20:43
heard people all my life say, well, if those old hypocrites down
20:45
there at church make it, then I'm going to make it. Well,
20:48
hell, the problem with that is that the hypocrites at church
20:50
aren't going to make it. You
20:52
aren't comparing yourself with other people. And
20:55
anytime you get to doing that, see,
20:57
it's this old Pharisee syndrome where Jesus
20:59
talked about the Pharisee and a
21:01
publican was a thief, a traitor
21:04
who turned on the Jews and was
21:06
used by the Romans to collect
21:08
taxes. And he was allowed to collect more
21:10
than what was due and anything extra that
21:13
he took, he could steal from the people.
21:15
So he was hated by
21:17
the Jews. And so this Pharisee and
21:19
the publican, a person hated by the
21:21
Jews, both went into the temple. And
21:23
the Pharisee said, God, I thank you
21:26
that I'm not like other men. I
21:28
fast twice in the week. I pay
21:30
tithes of mint and anise and cumin,
21:32
talking about even the spices in
21:35
his garden. He took the seeds
21:37
and separated them and gave one
21:39
tenth of all of the seeds
21:41
to the Lord. I mean, he
21:44
was legalistic and holy to the
21:46
nth degree. But
21:48
the problem was, he says, I thank you. I'm
21:50
not like other men. I fast twice in the
21:52
week. I pay tithes of mint and anise and
21:54
cumin. And I do all these things. I
21:56
thank you. I'm not like this publican over
21:59
there. See, he was compared. to
22:01
another person, a person who was a traitor
22:03
and a thief. But then Jesus
22:05
said that the publican, he wouldn't
22:07
even lift up his eyes to heaven. He just smote his breast and he said,
22:11
oh God, be merciful to me a sinner.
22:14
Because the publican put
22:16
trust in God's mercy
22:18
and asked for mercy
22:20
through Jesus, then
22:22
he was the one that was accepted. But
22:24
the one who was living a relative
22:26
holy life was the one that rejected.
22:29
Jesus said that the publican went down
22:31
to his house, justified, whereas
22:33
the Pharisee was rejected by
22:35
God. There's going to be a
22:37
lot of religious people that are rejected
22:39
by God because their trust was in themselves
22:42
and in their own goodness instead of in
22:44
a Savior. So it doesn't matter if you
22:46
reject the Savior because you don't believe that
22:48
he was God, you don't believe that he
22:50
existed, or if you just don't accept him
22:52
because you don't need him, you
22:54
are good enough and you think you're going to get in
22:57
on your own goodness. You'll split hell
22:59
wide open. You need to repent
23:01
and put faith in a Savior. We've
23:03
got people on our phones right now that would love to
23:05
pray with you and help you if there's any way we
23:08
could. We'll also give you this book. It's

23:13
New You and Holy Spirit. And
23:16
I promise you this would be a blessing. This
23:18
is our free gift to you. But
23:20
you need to tell somebody. Jesus
23:22
said if you don't confess him before men,
23:25
he won't confess you before his father. So
23:27
this is an opportunity. You can call that number
23:29
