Welcome to a special edition of

0:03

Gospel Truth with Andrew Wamek, a

0:05

teaching ministry that focuses on God's

0:07

unconditional love and grace.

0:10

Today, Andrew continues his teaching on who

0:12

God is and who we

0:15

are. Recorded live from the 2019 Grace

0:17

and Faith Conference

0:19

in Telford, England. You

0:21

need to recognize that you were

0:23

an absolute mess before Jesus

0:26

saved you. Apart from God's

0:29

influence in your life, you just

0:31

don't realize how perfect God created

0:33

us to be. And

0:37

now, here's Andrew. So last

0:40

night I started sharing about who

0:42

God is. There's a lot of

0:45

confusion and man, there's so much

0:47

that I could share on that,

0:49

that I didn't by any

0:51

means cover everything at all. But I

0:53

just gave a brief introduction that

0:56

God is a good God. God is not

0:58

the source of your problems. And

1:00

even in the Old Testament where you saw

1:02

the wrath of God poured out on people,

1:04

that was only temporary is what Galatians chapter

1:06

3 said until the

1:08

seed should come, talking about Jesus.

1:11

And Jesus has set us free

1:13

from the wrath of God. All

1:16

of the wrath of God

1:18

came upon Jesus and Jesus

1:21

bore your punishment, your sickness,

1:23

your disease, your poverty. And

1:26

if you can receive the truth

1:28

and believe you can be free

1:30

from everything that Satan is trying

1:32

to do in your life, you

1:34

do not have to settle for

1:36

less than God's best. And

1:38

so we were talking about the goodness of

1:40

God last night. Tonight, I'm going to share

1:43

some things that may

1:45

not bless some of you. But

1:47

again, the truth will make you free. And

1:50

I'm going to be sharing

1:52

about who we are without

1:54

Christ. And this

1:56

isn't only prior to salvation. This

1:59

is also after salvation

2:01

if you are trusting

2:03

in yourself. And I

2:06

tell you, this is not, most

2:09

people don't agree with this. And I

2:11

know you guys are awesome, appreciate you

2:13

coming out to this conference. You're

2:15

the cream of the crop. And

2:18

so God bless you, but many of you

2:20

do not believe what I'm gonna be teaching

2:22

tonight. And I can prove

2:24

it by the way you live. I

2:26

can prove it. And so

2:29

I hope this rubs you the wrong

2:31

way. I hope that this goes against

2:34

your selfishness and your self-esteem and

2:36

your thinking that you are absolutely

2:39

awesome. Because before you can fully

2:41

appreciate what God has done, you

2:43

gotta realize the mess that we

2:46

were in. Look at

2:48

this verse in Isaiah, chapter 51, verse one.

2:52

It says, hearken to me, ye

2:54

that follow after righteousness. How many

2:56

out of you here are following

2:58

after righteousness? One.

3:03

God bless you, Duane. Boy, we got

3:05

our work cut out. Nobody else in

3:07

here is following after righteousness. This

3:10

is talking about all of us. Righteousness

3:12

is just right standing with God. For

3:14

the believer, it's already an accomplished work

3:16

and we've got it. But

3:18

I mean, this ought to be what floats

3:21

our boat. This

3:23

ought to be what makes us excited

3:25

is being in right standing with God.

3:28

So ye that follow after righteousness, hearken

3:30

unto me, ye that seek the Lord,

3:33

look unto the rock from which you're

3:35

ewn and to the hole of the

3:37

pit from which you're digged. This

3:40

means that we're supposed to look unto Jesus,

3:42

the author and the finisher of our faith

3:44

and see him. And that's what I was

3:46

talking about last night, who God is and

3:48

that God is love. But you're also supposed

3:50

to look to the hole of the pit

3:52

from which you were digged. You

3:56

know what, you need to recognize that

3:58

you are an absolute man. before

4:01

Jesus saved you. And

4:04

some of you are thinking, well, I really wasn't that

4:06

bad. You're in a

4:08

big mess because you don't

4:10

realize what happened. You know, over in

4:13

Luke chapter seven, this is where the

4:15

woman came and broke the ointment

4:18

and poured it on Jesus' feet

4:20

and people criticized him. Judas criticized

4:23

him and says, this should have been sold

4:25

and given to the poor. And it goes

4:27

on to say he didn't care about the

4:29

poor. He was a thief and

4:31

he wanted the money that was

4:33

in the bag. Those who criticized

4:35

people for receiving offerings and

4:38

giving and things like that, you got

4:40

that Judas complex, the same spirit that

4:42

was on Judas. You

4:45

know how that wound up for him. But

4:49

Jesus said, those that have

4:51

been forgiven little will

4:54

love little. Those who have

4:56

been forgiven much will love much.

4:59

And did you know in the eyes of

5:01

the world, I lived a holier life than

5:03

most people. You've heard me say this before,

5:06

but I've never said a word of profanity,

5:08

never taken a drink of liquor, never smoked

5:10

a cigarette. I've never even tasted coffee. And

5:13

some people think coffee. Well, the Bible

5:15

says you can drink any deadly thing

5:18

and it shall not harm you. So

5:20

you got a scripture to stand on

5:22

for drinking coffee. I'm just saying that

5:25

I lived a super holy life, but who wants

5:27

to be the best sinner that ever went to

5:29

hell? But did

5:31

you know what? I think I have a

5:33

greater revelation of God's

5:35

forgiveness for me than a lot of people

5:37

do. Not everybody, but a lot of people.

5:40

And one of the ways that I got that is

5:42

I was born again when I was eight years old,

5:44

but when I was 18, I was

5:47

in a prayer meeting and I was

5:49

very self-righteous

5:53

thinking I was better than everybody else. And

5:55

I was concerned about what everybody was going

5:57

to think about me. And I don't understand.

6:00

exactly how this happened, why it

6:02

happened, but God showed up in

6:04

that prayer meeting. About

6:06

10 o'clock on a Saturday night and

6:09

God showed up and I saw

6:12

the glory of God and I

6:14

saw His holiness and I saw

6:16

the righteousness of God and compared

6:19

to the perfection of

6:22

God, all of

6:24

my righteousness was like filthy rags.

6:27

You know that's what Isaiah said and I believe

6:29

it was Isaiah chapter 64 and verse

6:32

6 somewhere around there and did you

6:34

know that the word filthy rag there

6:37

it literally means a menstrual cloth. Your

6:40

self-righteousness, your goodness is

6:42

like a menstrual cloth

6:47

and I saw the glory

6:49

of God and in comparison I

6:52

was filthy and dirty even though I lived

6:54

better than a lot of other people. Compared

6:57

to God, man I

6:59

was vile and I thought God was

7:01

gonna kill me and for about an

7:03

hour and a half I turned myself

7:05

inside out and you got to remember

7:07

I hadn't done a lot of the

7:10

things outwardly but Jesus revealed that if

7:12

you lust in your heart you're guilty

7:14

of adultery, if you've hated in your

7:16

heart you're guilty of murder and I

7:18

knew that and so I just started

7:21

confessing not only the things I had

7:23

done but I started confessing my thoughts,

7:26

my feelings and I was naming

7:28

names. Amen. I

7:30

hated this person and I was naming

7:33

names and whatever reputation I had I

7:35

blew it. I just I

7:37

did everything and I expected

7:41

God to kill me and to my surprise

7:43

instead of punishment or

7:46

rejection I had a tangible

7:48

love flow over me for

7:50

four and a half months. I was caught up

7:52

in the presence of God and

7:55

I've never gotten over it and

7:57

I never intend to get over it but what I'm

7:59

saying is I may not

8:01

have done some of the things other people

8:03

have done, but I understand my

8:06

relative unworthiness to

8:08

God more than most people do,

8:11

and I understand that I have

8:13

been forgiven a lot. I

8:15

was headed to hell, and there isn't a hell

8:17

number two or a hell number three. I

8:19

was going to hell, and I knew

8:22

it, and because of that, that's what

8:24

jump-started my relationship with God,

8:26

and I really believe that that's one

8:28

of the things that has

8:30

kept me from ever being depressed,

8:33

discouraged, and I get people that

8:35

criticize me. I'm not saying

8:37

that you're bad if you've been depressed,

8:39

but I'm just saying that I saw

8:41

God's love for me and his forgiveness,

8:44

and I knew it had nothing to

8:46

do with me. It wasn't

8:48

my goodness. I didn't earn anything

8:50

from God. I deserved to go

8:52

to hell, and

8:55

I saw that, and because of it,

8:57

I just can't be depressed. I

8:59

can't be discouraged. There's nothing that can

9:02

happen to me that even

9:04

remotely compares to the love and

9:06

the forgiveness that God has given

9:08

me, and because I'm focused on

9:10

that, it just keeps me from

9:13

going through the valleys and all of these

9:15

things that so many preach that you have

9:17

to do. I'm not saying

9:20

this in love, but if you are up

9:22

and down like a yo-yo, and you're happy

9:24

one-minded and in-depressed, it's because you don't really

9:26

understand what God has done for you. Matter

9:29

of fact, it says over in 2

9:31

Peter, he that does these things has

9:33

forgotten that he was purged from his

9:36

old sins, and

9:38

I tell you, there's a lot of Christians

9:40

that do not understand what we've been forgiven

9:42

of, so what I want to do tonight

9:44

is to show you the mess that you

9:47

were in before Jesus came into your life.

9:49

You're going to look to the pit that

9:51

you came out of, and it's worse than

9:53

what you realize. And

9:56

if you're one of those that think, well, I wasn't

9:58

so bad, all I needed was just a little little

10:00

bit of help. My life was pretty good and Jesus

10:02

was just the icing on the cake. I

10:05

wonder if you truly got born again. You

10:08

can't get born again without recognizing that you

10:10

are a sinner and that you need help.

10:13

The word of God is what

10:15

God has to say about us.

10:17

Our society today says people are

10:19

basically good. The Bible says people

10:21

are basically bad. You at

10:24

your core before you were born

10:26

again were absolutely a child

10:28

of the devil and by nature a child

10:30

of the devil. I'm going to give you

10:33

some scriptures that show you that. You

10:35

were headed to hell. You were going

10:37

to split hell wide open if Jesus

10:39

hadn't come and forgiven you. Here in

10:42

Genesis chapter 6 and

10:45

in verse 5 it

10:47

says, and God saw the wickedness

10:49

of man was great in the

10:51

earth and that

10:53

every imagination, notice every imagination

10:55

of the thoughts of his

10:58

heart was only evil continually.

11:00

This was 1656 years after the fall

11:02

of Adam. In 1600 years the human

11:04

race had gotten to

11:10

where every thought of their heart was

11:13

only evil continually. There's probably some people

11:15

right here that think well that's not

11:17

the way it is with me. And

11:20

you know what if you're born again

11:23

and if God's been renewing you well

11:25

then that's possible. But apart from God's

11:27

influence in your life you just don't

11:29

realize how perfect God created us to

11:31

be. We watch murder

11:34

and adultery and lying

11:36

and stealing and I

11:38

don't know what shows you have over here and

11:40

I don't really watch that much television in the

11:42

US but I've heard that they have programs

11:46

about the survivor and people,

11:48

every one of them they get into

11:50

anger and hate and they yell at

11:53

each other and they show these things

11:55

about people dating and every time there's

11:57

anger and we use that stuff for

11:59

entertainment. evil. God

12:01

did not endorse any of that stuff

12:03

and we have just adopted evil that

12:05

we don't even realize how bad it

12:08

is. But God

12:10

created us to live a lot bigger, a

12:12

lot better than what most of us

12:14

are and whether you realize that or

12:17

not, many of the thoughts of our

12:19

heart are evil. And look at

12:21

the next verse, it says in verse 6, and

12:24

it repented the Lord that he

12:26

had made man on the earth and

12:28

it grieved him at his heart. I

12:31

have never read that verse that

12:34

I don't say, Father, forgive us.

12:36

I'm so sorry. God created us

12:39

to be a pleasure unto him. Revelation

12:41

chapter 4 verse 11, for his pleasure

12:43

we are and were created. That means

12:45

the original purpose and still God's purpose

12:47

is so that he could love you

12:50

and get pleasure out of you. God loves

12:52

you the way that a parent loves a

12:55

child and he wants to see you prosper

12:57

and be in health. That's what it says

12:59

in 3 John chapter 1 verse 2, Beloved,

13:01

I wish above all things that you prosper

13:04

and be in health even as your soul

13:06

prospers. It grieves the Lord

13:08

when he sees you sick. It

13:10

grieves the Lord when he sees you poor.

13:13

It grieves God when he sees

13:15

you depressed and discouraged and all

13:17

of this stuff. And I guarantee

13:19

you this is a terrible scripture

13:21

that God was so grieved with

13:23

the way that his creation turned

13:25

out it repented him that

13:28

he even made man on the earth. But

13:31

his great love for us, he

13:34

sent his son. But you've got to

13:36

recognize it, man, God didn't look at

13:38

you and think, oh, you are so

13:40

awesome. I can't live without you. That's

13:44

not the way it was in Ezekiel chapter 16. The

13:47

Lord talks about how it was when

13:49

he chose Israel. He says it wasn't

13:51

because you were the most beautiful. It

13:53

wasn't because you were the brightest. He

13:55

compared it to walking by and seeing

13:57

a baby that had been born walking.

14:00

wallowing in its own blood with its

14:02

navel uncut, wallowing in the filth, in

14:04

the dirt, and it was caked up,

14:06

and he says, that's the way I

14:08

found you, and I took you, and

14:10

I cleaned you up, and I did

14:12

all of these things for you. God

14:14

didn't choose us because we were so

14:16

awesome. God chose us because he is

14:18

awesome. God is love.

14:21

You are not lovely. And

14:26

again, somebody, I

14:28

resent that. You resemble

14:30

that. I'm

14:34

talking about you without God, and

14:36

I'm talking about who you are

14:38

in just yourself. We

14:41

are all fallen from what God intended

14:43

us to be, and God didn't choose

14:45

us because we are lovely, but because

14:47

he is love. In

14:50

Jeremiah 17, verse nine, the

14:53

heart is evil above all things

14:55

and desperately wicked. Who can know

14:57

it? That's what the Bible says

14:59

about us, on our own.

15:01

Our heart is evil. It's

15:04

wicked. This

15:09

isn't talking about just the rapist

15:11

and the murderers. This is talking

15:13

about every single person. Because of

15:15

fear, it says in Psalms

15:18

chapter 36, verse one, the

15:21

transgression of the wicked says that there

15:23

is no fear of God before his

15:26

eyes. The way people

15:28

are living says that they don't honor

15:30

God. They don't respect God. And in

15:32

Proverbs chapter 16, verse six, it says

15:34

by mercy and truth is

15:36

iniquity purged, and by the fear of

15:39

God, men depart from evil. The

15:42

fear of God can cause a

15:45

diminishing or a controlling of some of

15:48

these things. We may not act it

15:50

out, but I can guarantee you, left

15:52

to yourself, your heart

15:55

before Christ is evil. And

15:58

desperately wicked. and

16:00

that is descriptive of every person that has

16:02

lived upon this planet. There are some people

16:04

that think, oh no, people are basically good

16:06

and if we just gave them enough money

16:09

and if we were to take them out

16:11

of a poverty situation, everybody will be nice

16:13

to each other. That's not true. I'm going

16:15

to share some things with you tonight that

16:17

you've never heard a sermon on before. I

16:21

can guarantee it. And

16:24

I'll show you what your heart

16:26

is capable of. Look at this

16:28

over in Ephesians chapter 2. This

16:30

is the Apostle Paul speaking. And

16:34

in Ephesians chapter 2, he

16:39

says in verse 1, And you

16:41

hath equicken'd who were dead in

16:43

trespasses and sins. You were dead

16:45

in trespasses and sins. You weren't

16:47

on life support. You weren't

16:49

just sick. You were dead. Dead.

16:54

In verse 2 it says, And wherein

16:56

in time pass you walked according to

16:58

the course of this world, according

17:00

to the prince of the

17:02

power of the air, the spirit that

17:04

now worketh in the children of

17:06

disobedience. Before you got born again,

17:09

you had a demonic spirit working

17:11

in you. You

17:13

may not have been what the Bible calls

17:15

possessed, but you were influenced. You were

17:17

controlled by the devil. Self-interest,

17:20

self-love, self-promotion

17:23

is demonic. Thank

17:27

you for that thunderous silence. I'm

17:30

saying things that people don't like. And they say,

17:32

well, I've got to take care of myself. I've

17:34

got to promote myself. If I don't promote me,

17:36

who will? God, if

17:39

you would trust Him, you

17:41

exalting yourself and promoting yourself

17:43

is not a godly trait.

17:47

And yet there's most people in here. You

17:49

just can't take it if somebody says something

17:51

about you. You got to defend yourself and

17:53

set the record straight. The

17:56

Bible says vengeance is mine, thus saith

17:58

the Lord. I will repay. When

18:01

you defend yourself, you exempt

18:03

yourself from God defending you.

18:07

Man, there's a million applications I could make

18:09

to this. How many

18:12

times have you had your mate say

18:14

something about you and you get in

18:16

and defend yourself? Did you know as

18:18

long as you are defending yourself, God

18:21

won't. But when you shut

18:23

up and just turn it

18:25

over to the Lord and throw it over

18:27

on the Lord, God will deal with your

18:29

mate. God can get to your mate. But

18:31

as long as you are saying all of

18:33

these things and rebuking them, God can't get

18:35

a word in edgewise. And if

18:37

he was to speak to them, they

18:40

would think, well, that's my wife that said

18:42

this. They wouldn't recognize it

18:44

as being God. Man, I got

18:46

a great example of that, but in the name of

18:48

Jesus, I'm not going to give it. I

18:52

got to move on,

18:54

but man, that is awesome

18:56

stuff. Just

18:59

real quickly. Most

19:05

people believe that when

19:08

Mary, you know, was told by the angel

19:10

that she would be pregnant and give birth

19:12

to the Messiah, that

19:14

she immediately went and told Joseph about

19:16

it. There's even songs written about that.

19:18

But let me just ask you, how

19:20

in the world are you going to

19:22

tell your fiance that, look, I'm pregnant

19:24

but honest. I

19:27

haven't been unfaithful. It's the Holy Spirit that

19:29

gave me. I

19:35

don't think there was any way to do it.

19:37

And according to scripture in

19:39

Luke, when the Lord appeared

19:41

unto Mary, it says she

19:43

went immediately into the hill

19:45

country to visit Elizabeth and

19:48

found out that Elizabeth was six months pregnant. The

19:50

angel told her that. Gabriel told her that. And

19:53

she was with Elizabeth for three

19:55

months until Elizabeth gave birth to

19:57

John, and then she came back.

20:00

and you have to put Luke's account

20:02

and Matthew's account together, and in

20:04

Matthew it says that she

20:06

was found with child by

20:09

the Holy Spirit. I don't believe

20:11

that she told Joseph, what

20:13

happened because how do you explain? I'm

20:16

the only virgin in the world that is ever

20:18

going to have a child. I

20:20

believe she didn't say anything. She

20:22

literally trusted God and did

20:25

not promote herself, and Joseph found her

20:27

with child, and then the angel of

20:29

the Lord appeared unto Joseph in a

20:31

dream, and told him that

20:34

what had happened to Mary was of

20:36

the Lord, and even gave the name

20:38

of Jesus. And because

20:40

Mary hadn't told him, then

20:43

he knew that man, this had to be God.

20:45

But if Mary would have been telling him all

20:47

of this stuff, and he had a dream, he

20:49

probably would have thought, Mary planted those thoughts in

20:52

my head. I dreamed this because

20:54

Mary said it, and the fact that

20:56

the angel told him the same name

20:58

that he told Mary, what a confirmation

21:00

it was to them. But

21:03

I'm telling you, most of us won't

21:06

let the Holy Spirit say anything that

21:08

we haven't already said. That's

21:11

a big problem. Selfishness, self-promotion,

21:14

self-defense, he says vengeance is mine,

21:16

thus saith the Lord. He will

21:18

repay, but we've been walking according

21:20

to the spirit that now works

21:22

in the children of disobedience. And

21:25

in verse 3, this is Ephesians

21:27

2, 3, among whom

21:29

we also all

21:32

had our conversation. This is saying that

21:34

this is for every person in here.

21:36

We all had our conversation in time

21:38

past in the lust of our flesh,

21:40

fulfilling the desires of the

21:42

flesh and of the mind. Did you

21:45

know when you just fulfill your lust,

21:48

this is not the way that God created us

21:50

to be. And

21:52

I say this in love to some of you who aren't

21:54

going to like this, but it's

21:57

like when you pet a cat against the grain and

21:59

all that. hair stands up the way you

22:01

solve that is not to quit petting you

22:03

just turn the cat around and you keep

22:05

petting and if what I

22:07

say rubs you the wrong way repent turn

22:10

around and it'll go to feeling good what

22:21

God is doing we can't just thank him enough we

22:23

are so grateful and it all started

23:56

to hear from you today Before

24:03

I came to Charis, I was a

24:05

mess. I didn't know my purpose, and

24:08

I didn't even really know who God

24:10

was. But when I came to Charis,

24:12

I learned who I am in Christ.

24:15

I learned identity. I

24:17

learned how to have a relationship with

24:19

God, and I met Christ. And

24:22

then, it was after first and second

24:24

year getting a foundation. It was in

24:26

third year that I discovered my purpose.

24:28

I discovered my destiny, and I walk

24:31

in my call every day now.

24:33

I walk in relationship with God

24:35

daily, and my life is not

24:37

the same. There's no going back.

24:40

So come to Charis, discover your purpose,

24:42

find your destiny, and walk in your calling.

24:52

I'd like to encourage you to pray about

24:54

whether or not God wants you to participate

24:56

in our Charis Bible College. Bible

24:59

College is powerful. We are seeing people's lives

25:01

change, and I know that some of you

25:04

are thinking, well, I can't come to

25:06

Colorado. But we have extensions to literally scattered

25:08

all over the world. And somebody

25:10

says, but there isn't one in my area. Well,

25:12

we've got an online course where you actually

25:14

become a part of a class. You can work

25:17

at your own pace, but you do have to

25:19

complete the materials in a certain given time. We've

25:21

got a lot of ways for you to take

25:23

advantage of it, so please pray about it,

25:25

and then join us at Charis Bible College. On

25:30

March 23, 1968,

26:59

I'd like to invite you to join me

27:01

for one of our premier events during the

27:03

whole year. That's our Summer Family Bible Conference.

27:05

We have things for the youth. I tell

27:08

you, they've taken the youth ministry to a

27:10

whole new level. It is spectacular. We have

27:12

musicals. We have teaching of the Word. It's

27:15

going to be July the 1st through the 5th. And

27:18

we have eating, barbecue, all kinds

27:20

of things. It's just a whole

27:22

family affair, July the 1st through

27:24

the 5th, our Summer Family Bible

27:26

Conference. I

27:40

had been brought up in religion. Catholic.

27:43

You have to behave. You have to be

27:45

good. My mindset was very legalistic. I remember

27:47

actually writing a letter to God and saying when I know who I

27:49

am, I'll come see it. I'll

27:51

come see it. Not knowing her identity

27:54

and worth, Selena fell into bad relationships,

27:56

which resulted in her appearing in

27:58

England's tabloids for having The next children

28:00

was 48 years old. Depressed,

28:03

suicidal and addicted to drugs.

28:05

Selena found out through Facebook about Andrew's

28:08

free grace and faith conference and decided

28:10

to attend. I

28:12

was completely set free from everything. Everything

28:14

that was drug addiction and wanting

28:18

to kill myself, being depressed. All

28:20

of that just left instantly.
