2:01

our conversation with Alley Rose,

2:03

author of Dust Girl, Alley

2:08

Rose grew up in a line and

2:10

hills and like so many people who

2:12

have lived through that experience. It changed

2:14

their like. In.

2:17

Had such a huge impact that growing

2:19

up she was nicknamed those girls. As

2:21

time went by, she began says search

2:23

2:26

The paranormal leading her

2:28

By sharing her experiences, See

affected by the. Paranormal. I'm.

2:40

Carol His and and this episode

2:43

of The Grave Tax will talk

2:45

about growing up with paranormal activity

2:47

with Alley Rose author of Ghost

2:49

Girl. So

2:51

let's talk about some of those other places

2:53

that you've been in. There was a couple.

2:57

That. Oh the Rizwan I destroy

2:59

down a note daisy and that this

3:02

was an interesting story. I really loved

3:04

it. Yeah as the

3:06

Daisy Upper Arm Cemetery. Yes.

3:09

Yes, I actually just told the story of my.

3:11

Tic. Toc today, so I'm. Basically.

3:15

My friend when I were investigating

3:17

this old. Cemetery.

3:20

And my home there was one of the first

3:22

places we ever went to. We

3:24

were. Walking. Around asking

3:26

questions I had this

3:28

little camera case on

3:30

my belt that. Camera

3:33

case was like. All

3:35

you could fit into it was the

3:37

camera. and it wasn't like a big

3:39

fancy camera. It was literally like a

3:41

little digital camera they just held in

3:43

your hands yard second inches big. This

3:45

is no one else and bad yeah

3:48

I was that he. I was not

3:50

a big fancy camera at all by

3:52

any the there a small on so

3:54

I had put my camera back in

3:56

the case because it was turning off

3:58

and on by itself. And

4:00

there is no point. In trying to use it

4:02

because it was just clearly. Not are Jewish arm

4:04

so I put it back in the case

4:06

and like I remember specifically, I put it

4:09

in the case. I would have known if

4:11

there is something in that case when I

4:13

close it. So. I for the

4:15

Cameron case. Closed. It a tacit

4:17

to my belt. And. It was like

4:19

completely sealed like there were any holes or any

4:21

way that anything to get into it. So

4:24

where does walk around? And at

4:26

one point I felt the. Same. Hole

4:29

on the camera case because it was

4:31

attached by this little clipped my cell

4:33

loop and I'm I looked down over

4:35

what the heck was that. Nothing.

4:37

There. Since. Really think much of

4:39

it, you know, like maybe it was his name as

4:41

a nation. So resistant

4:43

you need to walk around for a

4:45

bad ass question. Though That and I

4:47

decided try to get my camera back

4:50

out and see those working and when

4:52

I opened it back up there is

4:54

a. Daisy. Sitting.

4:57

On Top of my camera. In.

4:59

The case. I. Did not said. It.

5:03

Had not been there when I close

5:06

the. I hadn't opened it

5:08

back up nothing so I was

5:10

like that is really weird. And.

5:12

Right at that exact home in. Literally.

5:15

Sound like something out of a movie. I

5:19

turned and realized we were

5:21

standing next to. A grave

5:23

of someone named Daisy. Was

5:27

she trying to say highlights?

5:30

That's. What I mean obviously she was

5:32

trying to connect with you. See the

5:34

other thing too is that. A

5:37

D C, Maybe the Zz. Miraculously.

5:40

Ends up a new camera case on your camera.

5:42

I'm not quite sure how that would work.

5:44

Maybe it is. Yeah, but.

5:46

Of all the places. They.

5:49

You would have discovered that. What?

5:51

Are the odds as you. Discovering.

5:54

That right next to. Disease

5:56

marker at the same to

5:58

know? yeah. Like and Daisy

6:01

isn't really that common of a name

6:03

either So

6:05

I thought that was That

6:08

was weird One

6:11

thing you were doing now when you were younger

6:13

anyway that I thought was a really interesting concept

6:16

And I think you were doing it through Facebook was

6:18

every hour so you

6:20

were posting about your your

6:24

Investigations once an hour that if you're

6:26

coming up with any information, which I

6:28

loved I thought that was great. So

6:31

yeah, do you still kind of do it like that? That's

6:34

not how I do it anymore. But I've been I Didn't

6:37

create it. Yeah, I was gonna

6:40

say I've been considering going back to that though

6:42

because like it was a It

6:44

was a unique approach and a lot

6:47

of people that watched our videos did

6:49

really enjoy it Just that

6:51

format in general. I think

6:53

that that was also really beneficial

6:55

is because um It was

6:57

like you would know when to

6:59

start and stop recording And

7:02

even if like you didn't get anything you could

7:05

just make a quick vlog style video and be

7:07

like so this is what's happened so far It's

7:10

almost like a story time sort of mm-hmm. And

7:13

then it's interesting when you do have an update Exactly.

7:17

I'm like hey guys. Guess what just happened So

7:19

what were some of the earlier places that

7:21

you went to investigate? I know there was

7:24

a Hospital that

7:26

you spent quite a bit of time at and

7:28

you got quite a bit of activity there. Yes

7:32

That hospital is still one of

7:34

my favorite places. I've ever been It

7:37

was very haunted pretty much every time I went

7:39

there I would have something happen even if it

7:41

was just a small little thing like something would

7:43

happen They used

7:45

to be more lenient

7:47

about ghost hunting they do

7:49

not like it now So

7:52

the last time I went actually

7:56

Yeah, the last time I went was like 2017

7:58

and It

8:01

would very clear that. We. Didn't need to

8:03

be a fire. On. Before

8:05

that, you could pretty much get away. With going

8:07

up on like all the. For is that you were

8:09

legally allowed. To be on. He.

8:12

Wouldn't even run into anybody because there really

8:14

weren't a lot of people up there. There

8:17

were offices, but they weren't always

8:20

open and there were a great

8:22

many of them like. So.

8:24

Each honey. we're basically by. ourselves

8:27

as. You, that's quite

8:29

a bit of activities. And right. Oh

8:31

yes. Yes. Absolutely so late. Oh

8:34

gosh I'm trying to think is like their been

8:36

so many things. Probably. The

8:39

main thing that happened but this was my little.

8:41

Older. But the main thing that happened was

8:43

when we heard on. We. Heard

8:45

screaming on the floor above us

8:47

which was before that you're not

8:49

supposed to be on. And

8:52

other reason I know that there was nobody

8:54

up there is because one of my friends

8:56

had gone up there and I was like.

9:00

He. Really should go up there. that's not like

9:02

you're gonna get in trouble. and here is

9:04

like I don't really care and oddly okay,

9:06

well I'm gonna. Walk. This

9:08

way and. So.

9:11

The way that was walking. he had to go through the

9:13

big. Like hospital doors. Season.

9:16

Hear anything from the room at the staircases.

9:18

then. And. I was walking

9:20

there and actually no different with me and

9:22

all the. Sudden we heard from the

9:24

floor above us through the ceiling

9:26

basically on. Someone who remain

9:28

there had all sounded like

9:31

they were in horrible pain.

9:34

And we thought it was our friends and

9:36

that for a fair the reason of clothes

9:38

off as because. Everything

9:40

has not been like. Renovated.

9:43

Going right is a Mercedes. Yeah.

9:46

Like it looks exactly as it did

9:48

back in the day so like it's

9:50

not safe of their like it's root

9:52

of a reason. So we thought that

9:54

late something happened and he like broke

9:56

his leg or something so we go

9:58

running. Badge. And. Right as we

10:00

reached the by the fair to come down

10:03

and were like what the heck was that

10:05

and he has like what are you talking

10:07

about and so I won't lie that kid

10:09

was. Kind of. A

10:11

jokester trickster tired so we thought he

10:14

was messing with us, but it turned

10:16

out that she had been recording. From.

10:19

The time he went upstairs. To.

10:21

The time he came back down and

10:23

do not supporting once up. On

10:26

me and my friends living through the doors at

10:28

the beginning of the video. While.

10:30

He was up there. Do. Not really

10:33

make a sound and was ten a whispering all

10:35

about. he was like oh my gosh to the

10:37

disagree be on but like. Know.

10:39

Screening Know moving. Anything that

10:42

made a loud sound like nothing

10:44

but like we went to hundred

10:46

per had heard. Someone screening from

10:48

right above us. To.

10:50

The point? he thought he was injured. Yeah.

10:52

Like we're really worried about him. So.

10:55

What's Happened? When.

10:57

You decided that you did

10:59

not want to. Continue

11:03

investigations. Did.

11:05

You see like he retained opening yourself

11:07

up too much. Pretty

11:09

much. It's a

11:11

start to a point. Where. It

11:13

was making the stuff in. That

11:15

house that I was then. A

11:18

lot worse. And I'm.

11:22

Cause I I didn't really know as

11:24

much as I know now about way

11:26

to in proper like precautions and cleansing

11:28

and things like that I would just

11:30

be like hey. Don't follow me home

11:32

and hope for the Mets, but I'm.

11:35

So. There is already stuff in the home.

11:38

But sometimes. Maybe.

11:41

Things would follow me. I don't know

11:43

for a fact that I know that

11:45

things get really amped up after I

11:47

would go to a place. and I'm

11:49

when things were. Very. Active

11:52

in that house. It was not a fun

11:54

time since so it was a stand. Meet

11:56

you my son their the lock on I

11:58

like the time ago so. Wage isn't.

12:01

All. This stuff and I just really

12:03

couldn't handle the hit like I'm

12:06

done with this. Did you sealed

12:08

see you at any time? When.

12:10

You are living in the house. I don't. my

12:12

house on. I was grown up there. there was

12:14

a lot of family is his. Mental.

12:17

Illness alcoholism with my parents

12:19

and. In anger

12:22

he does this lotta things and I

12:24

look back on it. I wonder is.

12:26

Some. As. The. Activity was

12:29

also see all the off of

12:31

the negative things that were happening.

12:33

Within. The family. Yeah

12:36

yeah so like I will

12:38

go too much and bad

12:40

but wait there's definitely a

12:42

lot of like negativity and

12:44

my family arm and. I

12:47

absolutely one hundred percent believe that things

12:49

that offer that for sure when things

12:51

would get really bad I would notice

12:53

more activity. Two. And

12:55

a lot of the like, The. Refreshments

12:58

that I was getting

13:00

from the thing bear

13:02

assesses the shadow figures

13:04

was diet. they really

13:06

sad office fear and

13:08

anxiety and tension and.

13:11

That. Probably explains a lot as to why those

13:13

with the things that are most active bear. Did.

13:15

You ever feel any spirit their

13:18

that was kinda loving and comforting

13:20

and helpful to you. And

13:22

wizard all pretty much. Darker.

13:26

Yeah I felt some

13:29

neutral saying. There

13:31

were times I felt comforting spirit outside

13:34

of the held hostage by. In That

13:36

house? I didn't get a bad

13:38

feeling about. The woman that looks like

13:40

my grandmother. I don't know. that was my

13:42

grandmother arm. I never knew or so I

13:45

oh no. Didn't

13:47

really get a bad feeling about her.

13:49

me a scared the crap out of

13:51

me hits and Carly, the little girl

13:53

I'd china just got a neutral feeling

13:55

about her. But arm, yeah, most of

13:57

the other. thing that is not feel like they

13:59

were good at all, like

14:01

at all. It's so interesting

14:03

to me that there's so many

14:06

different energies coming together in one

14:08

place in this kind of

14:10

ranch style one-story normal-looking

14:13

home built in 1968. And

14:16

I think it does kind of lead to a

14:19

lifelong fascination of what is

14:21

it? And I

14:23

was talking to a woman once and she grew

14:25

up in a haunted house and she

14:27

is a psychic now. And we did an

14:29

episode, her name is Cynthia Killian, we did

14:31

an episode on the grave talks a while

14:34

back. But she said, when

14:37

people say they don't believe in it,

14:40

she said it's not a matter of believing in it.

14:42

I experienced it. You

14:45

know, it happened. It's not a belief. It

14:47

happens to me. It's part of my life.

14:50

Yeah. Yeah. And it's like

14:52

I understand why people don't believe because for

14:55

a lot of you, like seeing is believing.

14:57

And like, I totally understand because

14:59

a lot of it does seem really, really

15:02

out there. But for

15:05

me, it's kind of just like, I

15:08

don't really have the option of not

15:10

believing because like, I have seen it,

15:12

I've experienced it, it was a huge

15:15

part of my life. There

15:17

have been times that I tried to like, debunk

15:20

it and I was like, maybe it was just my

15:22

imagination. But then I would think and I'd be like,

15:24

okay, well, I actually have this amount of

15:26

stuff caught on video, I have, I

15:28

have friends who experienced it with me. It

15:31

was my experience. So

15:34

while I

15:36

do understand why there are people who don't believe, and

15:38

that's perfectly fine. I

15:41

don't really have that option. Right. And

15:44

I also think that they, they

15:46

haven't experienced it. Yeah, what

15:49

I do find interesting is a lot of people

15:51

will say, yeah, I don't believe in that. But

15:53

this one time, and then they'll

15:55

tell you a story. And then I'm always

15:57

like, well, how do you explain that then?

16:01

If you don't believe in the paranormal,

16:03

what was that? Because

16:06

it sounds paranormal to me. Yeah.

16:09

And like a lot of the time, like people

16:12

don't even... The

16:14

word paranormal, I don't always even

16:17

think of like ghosts. I

16:19

just think of like, which I do

16:21

believe in ghosts obviously, but like I

16:23

just think of like experiences that you

16:25

can't explain. And I

16:28

feel like everyone has some kind of experience

16:30

that they can't explain. Like

16:32

I don't believe in that, but there's one time. But

16:34

there's this one time that that happened. Do

16:37

you find yourself going

16:39

into places and it

16:42

might not even be any sort of

16:44

investigation. You just stayed

16:47

at a hotel, you went to a friend's

16:49

house, you go places and you feel it.

16:52

Like the second you walk in, you feel it. Yeah.

16:55

And you don't exactly know how to describe that,

16:57

but that happens to you too? Yeah.

17:00

All the time. I've like, whether I

17:03

experienced anything or not, I always can

17:05

like, whenever I

17:07

have this joke with my fiance where I'm like,

17:10

that building is haunted. And then

17:12

I'm just like, I look it up later. I'm like, Oh,

17:14

it actually was haunted. I'm like, the building

17:16

over here that's called this. And then I'm like,

17:19

Oh yeah, there is a ghost story about that

17:21

place. Like I usually end up being right. And

17:23

there's, I don't know how to describe that. And

17:26

there's some places where I physically react to it

17:28

and other places where I just sense it. Yeah.

17:31

Usually I mostly just sense it. But

17:34

there have absolutely been times that I've

17:37

experienced things in

17:40

places where I did not expect to experience

17:42

anything. So

17:44

you decided to not investigate anymore because

17:47

I get that you're living in a

17:49

haunted house. You're investigating

17:51

things. I totally see how things

17:54

could be amped up by that and

17:56

living in that house. I think that was a healthy

17:58

thing to stop doing. What

18:01

was it about it that you

18:04

decided to do it again?

18:07

So I actually

18:10

like moved out of

18:12

my hometown. So I haven't lived in

18:15

that house for like years. Um,

18:17

and, uh, I'm

18:21

in a place now where I

18:24

like home feels safe and

18:27

the vibes are good and everything. And I

18:29

have more information about like how to protect

18:31

myself, how to cleanse and things like that. And

18:33

I feel confident in my ability to do so. Um,

18:37

and, um, so I feel like it's not as,

18:39

I mean, obviously there are always going to be

18:41

risks associated with it. Um, but

18:43

I feel like I've learned a lot. I know

18:46

what buttons to push and what

18:48

buttons not to push. Um, and

18:50

I, I feel confident in my ability to

18:52

make sure that I am protected. Um,

18:55

so there's that just the fact that I learned

18:57

a lot about that and I feel

19:00

like I have more experience now. Also,

19:02

I was definitely inspired because I,

19:04

even though I stopped investigating, I've

19:06

still always really liked reading about ghosts

19:08

and watching shows and things like

19:10

that. And, um, I

19:13

got really into, uh, the show

19:16

destination here. Um, and,

19:19

uh, like I've been a fan of theirs for

19:21

a while, but like, I got like really, really

19:23

into the show. Um, shortly

19:25

after moving and,

19:27

uh, I was like, they

19:30

just remind me so much of myself when I

19:32

was a kid, that's weird. Cause they're like my

19:34

age, but like,

19:36

um, I

19:38

don't know. I just felt really inspired.

19:40

Um, and it made me just kind

19:42

of want to start getting back out there again. So

19:44

I did, and it has been awesome.

19:47

That was my next question. So by

19:51

having a different perspective,

19:54

a choice brings a little bit of wisdom. I like to

19:56

think anyway, and, and you're in a.

20:00

healthier place in your life. Do you

20:03

find that it's still

20:06

compelling and I don't know

20:08

like a new or different kind of

20:11

experience? Yeah. Yeah,

20:14

I do. It just it just really is

20:16

different. I don't care

20:19

about it anymore. Like I honestly feel

20:21

more in control

20:24

of the situation because I know

20:26

my boundaries. I know

20:28

the signs of when something is

20:30

going in the direction that I do not want

20:33

to go. There are even

20:35

locations that I would stay away from because I

20:38

know about the primary hauntings

20:40

there and that they're very negative and I

20:42

don't mess with that. It

20:45

does really have a completely

20:47

different vibe because I'm not really

20:49

going into it scared

20:52

anymore. I was

20:55

scared back then. I was like a mixture scared and fascinated.

20:58

But now it's more like I'm just going

21:00

in to try to make

21:03

communication and I'm

21:05

not like just like hoping for the

21:07

best and hoping nothing is going to attach

21:09

itself to me. Like I'm pretty

21:12

confident in my ability to set boundaries.

21:16

One thing I always wonder about I've

21:18

never attempted it in my life but about

21:20

going back to that house if you were

21:23

to go back do you

21:25

think that whatever was there

21:27

would remember you? I do.

21:31

I do too. I

21:33

do because there was there

21:35

was a time that I mean I lived in that house for

21:39

like 21 years. So

21:41

that's a long time like I literally grew up

21:44

there and it remembered me when

21:46

I was gone for a year. I know it's

21:48

only a year but when I

21:50

came back my parents and

21:52

me and my little brother had moved out for a year and

21:55

my older brother and his wife had

21:57

moved in. I came back to visit my

21:59

own house. brother at one point and I stayed

22:01

the night at his house and

22:04

the activity went insane and

22:06

he was like it's because

22:08

I brought you into the

22:10

house. He and his wife

22:13

had experienced things too. Oh yeah. During

22:15

that time but just by you being

22:17

back in the house it even ramped

22:19

it up even more.

22:22

Like really bad. Like things were

22:25

intense in that house anyway. They

22:27

had quite a few experiences but I

22:30

came back. It was like running footsteps down

22:32

the hallways, door slamming, stuff getting knocked

22:34

over like back to back to back

22:36

to back. Like something was something

22:39

was excited. Something was definitely trying

22:41

to get everyone's attention. Yep. But

22:43

not in a positive way. That

22:45

isn't a warm welcome home. That's

22:47

like oh my god she's back

22:49

and we're pissed. That's just interesting

22:51

to me. Yeah. Do you have

22:53

any words

22:59

of advice for someone who is living in

23:01

a haunted house right now? Honestly

23:05

just do all you can to

23:07

bring positive energy into your life.

23:10

Whether that is like by

23:12

like spiritual means, crystals, cleansing, stuff

23:14

like that if you believe in

23:16

that. Or even just interacting

23:19

with positive people, making

23:22

positive friendships, having things that make you

23:24

happy and try to focus

23:26

as much as you can on that

23:29

because it really does help. It's not

23:31

going to make it go away. And also

23:34

remember to set boundaries because it's like

23:36

you are absolutely capable of doing that.

23:39

Straight up tell it to leave you alone.

23:41

Like I know it's gonna sound silly just

23:43

sitting there talking to an empty space and being

23:45

like leave me alone. It does

23:48

work over time in my experience if

23:50

you just are like okay stop. See

23:54

it's interesting. All of that that you just

23:56

said. I Wish that we could, you know,

23:58

have some weird time thing in back. In

24:00

time, someone could have told Young Carol

24:02

that Big Sets Last needed to hear

24:04

it. Even people who are adults right

24:07

now listening to that. That. Was

24:09

really. Didn't have that was

24:11

really good. Those. Really good. Because.

24:14

I think it's so important I have

24:16

their conversations subtly since I talk about

24:19

the paranormal so much. I

24:21

have conversations with my house on this every day.

24:25

I don't feel anything negative at all. And

24:27

my house and that winning? keep it that

24:29

way. Yeah no I didn't have conversations and

24:31

and I try to be positive and I'm

24:33

like. You. Know him chained to have

24:35

a happy home and good place for my

24:37

bad. Yeah. Exactly. And

24:40

like that is the worst. Space Like

24:42

you have to make it you were

24:44

Sanctuary basic wave like don't like, be

24:46

24:48
