1:02
people just know the best rate for you is
1:04
a rate based on you with Allstate. Not
1:07
one based on the driver who treats the highway like
1:09
a racetrack and the shoulder like a
1:11
passing lane. Why pay
1:13
a rate based on anyone else? Get one
1:15
based on you with DriveWise from Allstate. Not
1:18
available in Alaska or California, subject to terms and conditions, rates
1:20
are determined by several factors, which vary by state. In some
1:22
states, participation in DriveWise allows Allstate to use her driving data
1:24
for purposes of rating. While in some states, her rate could
1:26
increase with high-risk driving, generally safer drivers will save with DriveWise.

We need Baron Casher and the insurance company in Affiliates North
1:30
Park, Illinois. Hey,
2:01
Tony, my name is Diana. I am
2:04
calling in from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I've
2:06
been listening to your show for quite
2:08
a while now, at least a few
2:10
years. I absolutely love it. You do
2:12
a great job. And
2:15
I listen to the grave talks as well. So
2:17
I love them both. I'm
2:20
also a broadcaster like you, Tony,
2:22
you've got a great radio voice.
2:25
I am a local news anchor here
2:27
in Hamilton, Ontario for our little local
2:29
radio station. So always
2:32
appreciate a good voice
2:34
on the radio and you just knock out
2:36
of the park and you're very intriguing to
2:38
listen to. But you already know that. Anyways,
2:40
so here's my story. I'm in
2:42
my late 30s now, but this was
2:45
a story that brings me back to
2:47
when I was about 19 or 20.
2:49
I can't remember exactly when. I
2:52
grew up outside of Toronto, just north
2:54
of Toronto. And I
2:56
was, there's always been a road that's near
2:58
my parents' house. So I was living with
3:00
my parents still at the time. I was
3:03
going to university and there was
3:05
a road near my parents' house. It's
3:07
a two lane highway, but there's a
3:09
certain curve on the stretch that I've
3:12
always, when I was living there, I always felt
3:14
really creeped out by it. I can't explain it.
3:16
So at nighttime, I would just, you know, really
3:20
push the metal, push the gas pedal
3:22
to get the hell through that particular
3:24
curve because it just gave me the
3:26
heebie jeebies. I don't know
3:29
why, couldn't put my finger on it, but I
3:31
knew that I just did not like the feeling
3:33
of being in that particular bend of the road.
3:35
One night I
3:38
was driving home quite late from
3:40
my then boyfriend's house. I think it was
3:42
about two o'clock in the morning and I
3:44
had had exams that day, it was
3:47
in the summertime, about
3:49
June when I was exhausted. And
3:51
I got a coffee on the way home, but
3:53
I guess it didn't help too much. And
3:56
I'm driving down this stretch of
3:58
two lane highway. I guess
4:00
at some points. I. Dozed
4:02
off at the wheel. If
4:05
only. For a couple seconds, I
4:07
dozed off at the wheel, and
4:09
when I opened my eyes, I
4:12
jolted awake because. In
4:14
my small. Dream or whatever it
4:16
was that I was having. I saw
4:19
a girl in a white dress. Like.
4:21
A young girl. Run. Into
4:24
the road. And
4:26
I woke up. Out
4:29
of that, like like completely flipped out
4:31
thinking oh my god I almost hit
4:33
this girl. We're is this girl, Where
4:35
is this girl? and I realized that
4:37
I had drifted into. The.
4:40
Oncoming lane. And
4:42
nobody else is on the roads. was like at
4:44
three in the morning in it was kind of
4:46
in the country so there was it would really
4:48
their by jerk my steering wheel back into my
4:50
lane and i looked in my rearview mirror and
4:52
I couldn't see anything and I could have know
4:54
where this girl was. I had no idea where
4:56
she was if I eat and saw her. And.
4:59
Ten seconds later, coming around the
5:01
bend of the road at three
5:03
o'clock in the morning was like
5:05
an eighteen wheeler and they don't
5:07
come through their they can through
5:09
their own detours. maybe sometimes during
5:11
the day and so it would
5:13
like seconds before. But this vision
5:16
or. I don't
5:18
know Messenger, perhaps it was a
5:20
guardian angel? I'm not sure or
5:22
goes, but I feel like this
5:24
president's obviously protected me. It woke
5:26
me up. I was able to
5:28
check out of the oncoming lane
5:30
and you know with.they got hit
5:32
by this destructs. Ah. I.
5:35
Was panicked the whole rest of the way
5:37
home, which was only actually about five ten minutes
5:40
away from my parents house. And.
5:42
Ah, you know my heart was racing.
5:45
I had the cold sweats. I was
5:47
really awake By this point though. I
5:49
went into my house obviously my family
5:51
was asleep, accepted to my bedroom and
5:53
I. I went online the kind
5:55
of try and figure out if anything
5:57
had ever happened. in that area
6:00
And so I started, you know, Googling and
6:02
I started looking at old Toronto
6:05
Star Archives papers, which is the local
6:07
paper, one of the local papers in
6:09
Toronto. And I stayed up to
6:12
like 6 a.m. just digging, digging, digging. And
6:16
I found that in
6:19
the early 1900s, that used
6:21
to be a really old farm area. It still is
6:23
pretty farmy out in that area. But
6:25
there was a really bad crash out
6:28
on that bend. And so I
6:30
was in a place where a family died.
6:35
And so it just clicked to me that
6:37
this angel or presence
6:39
or whatever she was, this
6:43
girl was there protecting me from a similar
6:45
fate, I guess. And
6:48
so I had an immense sense of gratitude. Obviously,
6:50
you know, my eyes started to water. I
6:53
started to like get really emotional, just being really thankful
6:55
for that. And
6:58
it's a really, really scary and
7:01
terrifying experience. It
7:03
really, really opened my eyes to the fact that maybe
7:05
we do have guardian angels that are looking out for
7:07
us. So
7:10
I'm open to the paranormal. I always have been, I've been
7:12
a little bit sensitive to it since I was younger. It's
7:16
kind of waned over the years, though. I
7:19
don't know if that's just that I'm as distracted with
7:21
adulting. But that's my short
7:23
little story. I just wanted to share with you guys. I
7:26
hope you enjoyed it. And
7:28
again, I absolutely love your show, thinking of
7:30
becoming an EPP. So thanks a lot, guys.
