Good evening, and welcome to The Great Explorers. Today our great explorer is Ernest Shackleton. He is an Anglo-Irish naval officer who went on four expeditions. Shackleton nearly made it to the South Pole and was knighted for his efforts by the king of the United Kingdom, King Edward VII. He nearly accomplished many expeditions and that is what we will be talking about today.
