"I am still not a political person, but I am proud that Richard's and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, black or white, young or old, gay or straight seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That's what Loving, and loving, are all about."
- Mildred Loving
This is a special episode for many reasons; for one, it is "Loving Day!" It is the commemoration of the Loving family winning a Supreme Court decision (Loving vs Virginia) effectively ending anti-miscegenation laws all across the country! It allowed Interracial couples to legally marry in ANY town, in ANY state. It is because of Mildred & Richard's sacrifice and struggle that the families like our host, Nathan Brannon, and many listeners out there are allowed to exist. In celebration of this courageous family, we have chosen an interview with another amazing interracial couple; Is & Maggie Caballero. We discuss overcoming doubt about their young relationship, the importance of connecting & believing in one another, the experiences of Interracial families in small, rural areas, and much more! Give it a listen, and HAPPY LOVING DAY!
