In this episode of The Happy Leader Podcast, Amal speaks with Alex Hirst & Lizzie Penny, Co-Founders of Hoxby and Authors of the No. 1 Sunday Times Best Selling Book, ‘Workstyle: a revolution for wellbeing, productivity and society’, about the "The Workstyle Revolution" – How to achieve a high level of success, while feeling fulfilled and energized - all while fitting your work around your life rather than the other way round.

Lizzie shares her personal journey from the corporate world to a becoming a deeply fulfilled co-founder, wife and mother.  She takes us though the ups and downs of life including: surviving breast cancer, nine weeks of bed rest during a high-risk pregnancy, helping her husband through cancer treatment, while raising three active, young children. Being able to fit her work around her life has been truly transformative for her during these times - a source of stability, purpose and joy.

Alex’s journey is different but just as inspiring. He had been working 12-hour days for years, believing that the more hours he put in at work, the more success would surely follow until he experienced burnout.  He was feeling numb to the lows and ambivalent to the highs and as his wife said at the time, he had become a shell of the person he used to be. Alex didn’t want to live that way anymore, so he set out to redefine his psychological contract with work. He was determined to be judged on his output rather than when and where he worked, which led to a conversation in the pub with Lizzie and the creation of the word workstyle… The rest, as they tell us on this podcast, is history!
