0:25

Well, we had Mick Cronin

0:28

on the UCLA coach yesterday and I asked him

0:30

about certain programs and I said, how do you explain

0:32

the Gonzaga success And he said two words,

0:34

Mark few. They have made nine straight

0:37

Sweet sixteen appearances. That is,

0:40

if you're Carolina Duke

0:43

Villanova, and I've said this, that's

0:45

what Gonzaga is now. It is a

0:47

top five college basketball program

0:49

in the country. Now. They have a very humble

0:52

head coach, Mark fu who

0:54

Let's bring him on and let's you know, first

0:56

of all, he's just gonna give

0:58

me crud. Go ahead, take

1:01

your shot at me about squeezing college

1:03

basketball in Mark, go ahead, I'm ready

1:05

for I can handle it.

1:06

You already did that for me. And I

1:09

think I think you're you're calling out the combine.

1:11

Which I'll quit you on that Usually you

1:14

spend you know, seven weeks talking

1:16

about it.

1:16

So if we could shrink that down maybe three or

1:18

four.

1:19

And embrace the greatest

1:23

tournament, you know, and postseason

1:26

the College Basketball NCAA,

1:28

that'd be great.

1:29

Well, it is great, and you

1:32

guys have your hands full. So one of the things

1:34

you've done at Gonzaga is that you'll play the

1:36

Yukons, You'll play the Michigan States, You'll

1:38

play the Kansas. So you've played

1:40

Yukon, who I think is the best team I saw in

1:42

college basketball. This year. You played

1:45

Purdue earlier Purdue

1:48

Zach enes just true. So do

1:52

you just say to you he gets

1:54

twenty five and all shut down everybody else?

1:56

What is a game plan against Zach?

2:00

And then this will be the We played him last

2:02

year in the PK eighty five and year

2:05

old hometown Portland, and this

2:07

year we played him in Maui back in November.

2:10

And I mean twenty five years I've been

2:13

ahead coach here. I've never dealt

2:15

with a player or

2:17

an entity like him. He is a

2:19

really, really, really good basketball player

2:23

and he does everything well.

2:25

I mean, he posts the right way, he

2:27

can score, his ball

2:29

goes in now very

2:32

efficient and he

2:34

shoots free throws really well.

2:36

And then at the other end, he's just you

2:38

know.

2:38

For a team that likes to shoot, we're very effective

2:40

in the paint and shoot a lot of twos. I mean, it's

2:42

it's tough to get shots off in

2:45

the paint. And so he's

2:47

just again an entity that quite

2:49

frankly, I mean, you just I haven't seen

2:51

in twenty five years, and so obviously

2:55

a lot of game planning. The best thing we

2:57

got going for us is we've played against him

2:59

a couple time, so we've at least felt it.

3:01

It won't be a shock.

3:03

But it's not only that Matt

3:06

Painters just I mean, he's one of the

3:08

great people in

3:10

all of sports and just as good a

3:12

basketball coach as there as there

3:15

is, and he does a phenomenal job of

3:17

of the sets and things that they

3:20

do offensively, and the right and the people around

3:22

him.

3:22

Their guards are so much better this

3:24

year. Their guards are terrific.

3:26

That Braden Smith's a really,

3:29

really, really good player. So

3:31

it's gonna be a it's gonna be a tough out, but it's

3:33

you know, it's awesome to still be playing. And uh,

3:36

you know, we've been ahead I think at halftime and into the

3:38

second half both time, both games we played, and we just

3:40

haven't been able to quite finish it off.

3:42

So I had said the two teams

3:45

I watched this year that jumped off the TV.

3:47

I thought Yukon was the best team I saw, and then

3:49

I thought Carolina. I saw them twice,

3:52

really impressive. I got him on good nights. They

3:54

didn't play great every game, but you

3:56

faced Yukon and they've got a combination

3:59

of great co coach, NBA prospects,

4:02

and they've been defending since Calhoun's been

4:04

there, is you is

4:07

Yukon? You faced them. Are they beatable? Are

4:09

they just too good?

4:12

I mean they're beatable, everybody's beatable,

4:14

but they are

4:16

there's something now. We've played them twice last

4:18

year in the Elite eight and then in Seattle,

4:20

uh.

4:22

In early December, and yeah,

4:24

no, they are very good.

4:25

And you know, i'd say obviously

4:28

they in Purdue or or neck and

4:30

neck with just kind of how they've

4:32

dominated this year, but uh,

4:34

just in different ways. You're right, Yukon

4:36

defense is the same. It's up

4:39

to Calhoun standards. But

4:41

the interesting thing, Colin, and I know sometimes

4:44

you like to, uh we actually

4:46

share a lot of the same thoughts.

4:48

You and I. I don't give you enough credit for that,

4:50

but.

4:52

You like those teams that play different sometimes

4:55

football wise, Yukon doesn't

4:57

run a ton of ball screens and a college

5:00

basketball you know, ninety

5:02

five percent of the team's you know, run

5:04

mostly of ball screen offense in

5:07

some way, shape or form.

5:08

They run a lot of off ball.

5:09

Stuff and they execute it

5:12

incredibly well. Curls

5:14

and backcuts and flares and stagger

5:17

screens and single pin downs and and

5:21

so they're really different when you go to prepare

5:23

form, you know, and you know, most of your practices

5:26

have been dealt with deal with ball screen offense.

5:29

And so.

5:31

That is the one thing that it's it's it's

5:33

definitely been hard for us. And when you play

5:35

them in a tournament like this, especially if you get them

5:37

on the second day, you know, the

5:39

second game of the weekend. I mean that is

5:41

a short, short prep yep.

5:44

And I think that's really advantageous

5:46

to them.

5:47

Yeah, that's a really good point, you know, Mark.

5:49

I was talking to Mick cronin

5:51

yesterday and we talked about the nil and

5:54

it's I mean, there's you are obviously

5:57

you play like a blue blood program. But

5:59

you don't have Tucky's money. You

6:01

don't Gonzaga doesn't have

6:03

that money. You will

6:05

make it work. But are you

6:08

concerned that players? A

6:10

majority of them, and I'm not blaming

6:12

them. Money's the first question. It's

6:14

not facilities, it's not winning, it's

6:16

can you pay me? Are you concerned

6:19

about Gonzaga and

6:21

your history of excellence

6:23

going forward?

6:26

I mean I've always been concerned

6:28

about that every year, and

6:30

especially you know when the seat whenever

6:33

the seasons do come doing end.

6:34

It's getting definitely more complicated.

6:39

But I would just say, Colin, you know, we've had

6:41

two great examples of NIL really

6:44

really working and being such a positive

6:46

thing. And Drew Timmy and chet

6:48

Holmgren yep, and theirs was true

6:51

Nil. It was name, image, likeness. You know a

6:53

lot of the stuff that's going on right right now

6:55

has nothing to do with Nil. It's just you

6:57

know, money being raised and figuring

7:01

out how to get it. But I do

7:03

that the positive of this is I do think

7:05

it's time we do get

7:07

to some sort of revenue sharing

7:10

with the players. I

7:12

think it's a long time coming. I think we just need

7:14

to figure that out. And

7:18

I think if that's the case, if

7:20

somehow we got to get the

7:22

right people in there kind of setting

7:25

the future of our

7:27

sport. Though, Like, we don't

7:29

need twelve presidents in a room,

7:32

you know, trying to decide the fate of this.

7:34

I think it's time you

7:37

got to have some coaches in there. You've got to have some

7:39

commissioners in there. You got to have some

7:42

athletic directors in there, and then you got to have some student

7:44

athletes and that's it, and a couple

7:46

of presidents and then just hammer

7:48

this thing out right and right now, the nca

7:50

is way too bureaucratic and they haven't been able

7:52

to keep up with the changes. And

7:55

the best thing they got going calling the

7:57

greatest thing is the NCAA

7:59

tournament. In the job that Dan Gavitt

8:02

and his group does, I mean, it hits a home run

8:04

every single year, and

8:07

so it's so important to keep

8:09

that thing going. But I

8:11

just think we need like Pranos

8:13

and people that are in the fight and down in

8:16

the streets helping him kind

8:18

of set the course for the future.

8:20

Here, you were right on chet

8:22

Holmgren. I worried about his size

8:24

and I kind of felt like play him fifty games

8:26

the first couple of years. Body type, he's thin,

8:28

Let him put on weight, don't ask him to play eighty

8:31

two. And I got to tell you they are nights.

8:33

He's better than Wimby. And you told

8:35

me, I said, I don't know, And you said,

8:38

he is way tougher

8:40

that his body type leads

8:42

you to believe. Are you surprised

8:45

all? I mean, Aaron Knight's coach, he

8:47

is he can be a dominant player.

8:49

He's still a kid. Are you surprised

8:52

at all by it?

8:54

Not at all, Not at all.

8:56

I'm telling you We've had some legendary

8:58

guys here with drive and

9:00

ambition and work ethic. I mean,

9:03

that's basically what this program has been built

9:05

on.

9:07

And he's at the top of the list in that.

9:09

I mean, we could not get him out of

9:10

the building. I mean he was here

9:13

twenty hours a day. He's just he he is

9:15

basketball all the time. And

9:17

like I said, and I think it's

9:20

playing out. He's he's

9:22

tougher than maybe his body looks

9:25

that it might be. And and he's

9:27

a he's a warrior man. He is a he's

9:29

a warrior and he loves basketball and he's got

9:31

a great feel he's a great teammate.

9:35

I'm just so happy for him that, you know, the thing, it

9:37

was a fluke that kind of happened.

9:39

It was a fluke injury.

9:40

And I think he was getting labeled, you know,

9:43

very wrongly of being brittle and all

9:45

this and this. That guy didn't miss a practice

9:47

here. And I mean he was in on every

9:49

drill And I

9:52

love that about him.

9:52

When I watch him in.

9:53

High school, he'd get knocked down

9:55

to the floor and you'd go ooh, and

9:57

then pop right back up and

10:00

and uh, you know, making plays

10:02

at the other end. And and I mean

10:04

he does everything. He plays both ends of the floor.

10:06

How nice is that? And and the other

10:08

thing I'd add Colin is after doing the uh

10:11

you know Team USA uh stuff

10:13

and looking forward again to doing it this summer with

10:15

Steve and and Tie

10:18

and Spoe and Grant,

10:20

it's a different game. Like the NBA is way

10:23

more open, and I'm

10:25

telling you it's way more finesse. Yes,

10:28

the the Foeba stuff that

10:30

we went through last year with the World Cup team is

10:32

so much more like collegers. You know, we can

10:34

stand in the lane and

10:36

there's just no there's not driving, and there's

10:39

there's it's so much more physical me

10:41

in my opinion.

10:42

Finally, you know my favorite two college

10:44

basketball coach, I mean, I love a lot of you is

10:47

O Jay Wright and you and what I

10:49

and and And one of the things that's interest

10:51

is O' is very emotional,

10:54

very and you and Jay Wright

10:56

you look you look like you're watching the game

10:59

in your driveway. You guys are not real

11:01

emotional. Do you ever? You're

11:03

playing Purdue. The whole country's watching,

11:06

are you? Do you have inner turmoil? You're

11:08

freaking out? You and Jay Wright act like

11:10

you're just sitting at a dinner party. You

11:12

never get emotional. You're always even Is

11:14

that because you've been around so long? Is that just

11:16

who you are?

11:20

Well, first of all, there's there's tons of inner

11:22

turmoil for Jay.

11:23

I mean, Jay's a great friend for both of us.

11:27

You worry a lot.

11:28

I did you know what I after working

11:31

for different guys over the years and stuff, and just

11:33

as you know, back all the way into high

11:35

school, out was I thought, there's

11:37

enough stress involved in the game

11:40

that the most important thing and the

11:42

and the greatest thing I can do

11:45

when we get to the game is

11:47

to try to give the guys as much confidence

11:49

as possible and just let them.

11:51

Let them play freely and play with confidence.

11:53

Now, practices and everything leading up to that,

11:55

I mean we're on them and after them and challenging

11:58

them, you know, and getting them to do the things and think

12:00

the right things and preparing them. But man,

12:03

once that ball goes up and the lights are on

12:05

and the fans are full, I just think I'm

12:07

just there to try to help them, and you know,

12:10

yell and screaming and lose in my mind, I

12:13

mean, it isn't gonna help them play

12:15

with any confidence, and and and.

12:17

Maybe doesn't fit my personality

12:19

either.

12:20

There's a lot of different ways to do this, and

12:22

those a lot of those guys that do coach

12:24

like.

12:24

That are incredibly successful.

12:26

But I just try to get

12:28

them as much confidence as I can and help them as much

12:30

as as we possibly can be successful

12:33

during those forty minutes are out there.

12:35

Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd

12:37

weekdays in noon Easter nin a em Pacific

12:39

on Fox Sports Radio FS one

12:42

and the iHeartRadio app.

12:44

Fifty percent from three point range,

12:46

they lead the tournament. They just

12:49

it's incredible. Thirteen times

12:51

a Sweet sixteen appearance nine straight.

12:53

Now, as Mark knows, I got to go back

12:56

to talking about the fifth round of the NFL

12:58

Draft now, so I have to go.

13:03

And you don't try to blame it on your producer

13:05

either. That is you at HARK. I mean, admit

13:08

it, admit it.

13:10

I get you whatever. I

13:12

love having you on the show, and I hope

13:14

things are going well.

13:15

Love the show, and I love listening to your

13:17

show. It challenges me, it does.

13:19

I love your show. Yeah,

13:22

we need to get on more.

13:24

Yeah. My wife says, I love your show. As

13:26

long as I'm never on it. I just don't

13:28

want to be on your show. And I'm like Ann,

13:30

the show is my life. And so one

13:32

of my favorite people in sports, Mark Feu,

13:34

Great Seni you. I will be locked

13:37

and nervous for Gonzaga Purdue Friday,

13:39

which could be the best game in the tournament. Great

13:41

senor man goes Aggs.

13:43

Yeah you too, Bud, take care all

13:45

right?

13:46

He and Jay Wright and Tom Izzo.

13:49

I've known these guys a long time. It's it's you

13:51

know, I don't really necessarily root for teams,

13:54

but it's impossible. If you know Mark

13:56

few or like Jay Wright,

13:58

it is a it's hard not to

14:01

root for the people. They just do it

14:03

right. They just do it the right

14:05

way. Villanova just did it the right way

14:07

forever. And I was I was texting

14:09

Jay right the other day about his broadcasting,

14:12

and he's as obsessed about that as he was

14:14

about coaching. And these guys

14:16

have to deal with the NCAA and the NIL.

14:18

It is a lot you're throwing on them.

14:20

But I just I can't wait for a Gonzaga

14:23

and Purdue. All right, J Mack with

14:25

the news, No.

14:26

No, turn on the news.

14:28

This is the headline news.

14:31

Mark, if you will be happy to know we're talking about the NFL

14:34

Gerrod Mayo early stages

14:36

of molding that Patriots roster after

14:39

they moved on from Belichick. Patriots

14:41

pushed hard for free agency so offseason,

14:44

but came up shorter than they had hope.

14:46

Something is something Mayo was conscious of. There

14:50

were various.

14:51

Reasons why guys didn't a sign

14:53

with us. Once again, the

14:55

unknown is scary for a lot of people. And I

14:57

would say even in our building right now, it's

15:00

still unknown. Like will I'll be a good

15:02

head coach?

15:02

I don't know.

15:03

Hopefully I think I can be. How would

15:05

you just ask Patriot fans for patients. Look,

15:07

once again, there will be players that hit

15:10

the wire, you know, free agents, guys that are

15:12

explosive, whatever you want to say. There will be guys

15:14

in the draft. There will be guys after the draft.

15:16

So just sit back and kind

15:18

of, you know, let us do our job.

15:20

Go forward.

15:21

Mmm.

15:24

I don't think there's that much unknown. The

15:26

Patriots aren't going to be good. That

15:28

is known that. I think Carolina

15:31

by far and away the least talented team. Giants

15:34

Patriots right next'

15:37

that's that they got so many issues. There's

15:39

an argument to be made they should skip quarterback

15:42

trade down and just fix the roster and

15:44

then give the next quarterback next year

15:47

a shot, or going free agency that if

15:49

you get a bunch of picks, forget a

15:51

college kid, just go buy a quarterback. Just

15:54

just load up, trade down, load up,

15:56

get players, and then next year go

15:58

buy the best free agent quarterback. That's what you know. Atlanta's

16:01

like, we got a bunch of young guys, we're not paying

16:03

him yet, Let's go pay for a quarterback.

16:05

If you're a free agent, you want to move to Boston

16:07

play for a team that got

16:09

a new coach is moving on from Belichick.

16:11

A lot of them may or may not even survive three

16:13

seasons.

16:14

You think Kirk Cousins woke up and said, I want to move

16:16

my entire family to Atlanta, And then Atlanta said,

16:18

here's forty eight million, thanks for flying

16:20

United Boom book my flights. Money

16:22

money talks.

16:23

Yeah, but they're not going after a quarterback and paying

16:25

that much. I mean, those those are

16:27

the overpaid.

16:28

No, those are the Belichick years. If

16:31

you have Josh Allen in your division, you're

16:33

going to pay fives the first number.

16:35

By the way, we talked about Dak. Dak

16:38

in New England makes a lot of sense. He's

16:40

an adult. If you trade down this year

16:42

in your New England you get picks.

16:45

You have a very very young roster. What

16:47

do you need? Atlanta said, give us an adult.

16:50

New England says, give us an adult. We'll

16:52

take. Dak works on a young

16:54

team that has dynamic athletes,

16:58

doesn't have to carry it. But he's the adult

17:00

in the room. That's very Kirk Cousins in

17:02

Atlanta with a young offense is

17:04

hey, Kirk, And I've said this, Dak

17:06

and Kirk are the same quarterback. One has a star on

17:08

the helmet, it's the same stats. So

17:11

I think Dack to New England. If you load the roster

17:13

up and say forget it, why draft the quarterback,

17:16

He's going to get destroyed. We have no steel people.

17:19

Maybe, But regarding the

17:21

free agents, like you think Brandon

17:23

Ayuk, who's not a free agent. But if the Niners are

17:25

looking to offloaded, Hey Brandon, we're shipping you

17:28

to New.

17:28

England, do you think he's gonna

17:30

want to sign?

17:30

Okay, money, Okay, let me go quarterback. I'm

17:33

the GM in New England. I take the third pick,

17:35

I trade down and I get either

17:37

another one or two twos and two

17:39

three, whatever it is. You get lot load

17:42

up the roster. Now it's an expensive

17:45

and then I go make a trade

17:49

eventually for Brandon Ayuk.

17:51

Well, I'm paying nobody because I've made my roster y.

17:53

That's the advantage of.

17:55

But a U has to want to sign an extension

17:57

there. He might just say no, I'm not again again

18:00

again. Freaking athletes care about the

18:02

money. Fro football player careers last

18:04

three and a half years. If New England says

18:06

we'll pay a top of the market, then you sign.

18:09

The contract and then you just.

18:11

And then you go get a free agent quarterback

18:13

the next year, or you go.

18:14

Bag and ask out in a year or two because Boston stinks.

18:16

And well what the time, Places

18:19

don't stink forever except

18:22

Washington under Dan Sneyder. Other than that, places

18:24

don't.

18:24

Strino leaves the Dolphins. They were a dumpster

18:26

fire for like two decades.

18:28

Like this is what happens.

18:30

Someland could be in the

18:32

wilderness post Brady for

18:34

like forty. It might be a long time,

18:37

Colin, We have no idea. Next up, Let's get

18:39

you a good team in the AFC East New York

18:41

Jets.

18:41

Oh boy, they are looking to trade

18:44

former number two overall pick Zack Wilson.

18:46

Shocker. Not a lot of success on

18:48

that front.

18:49

Owner Woody Johnson added a twist,

18:51

saying, wait for it.

18:55

If we don't trade them, we're going to keep them. So that's

18:58

possible that he could.

18:59

He could do it here.

19:00

You know, I feel badly about Zach in

19:02

some ways, because, yeah,

19:05

last year would have been a great He would have

19:07

been a first time he could just sit back

19:09

and watch him master at work,

19:12

right, And he's never had that. He's been

19:14

in the fire from day one, and

19:16

I think that's what he needs. He needs

19:18

to He needs to be in a place where he

19:20

can he can observe for a while, and

19:23

he's got the skill, he can do everything.

19:26

There's a reason we drafted about number two.

19:29

Yeah, after

19:32

three seasons in the NFL, he needs to sit

19:35

and observe for a while.

19:38

Yeah, well we know what's going on here.

19:39

They're moving him.

19:40

Well, they're not moving Nobody wants them. Nobody's

19:43

giving up anything.

19:44

Who's Arizona's backup? I

19:46

want to call my shot here.

19:48

Arizona Cardinals.

19:50

I mean, I just can't imagine Arizona Cardinals

19:52

saying bring on Zach Wilis.

19:53

They're not saying bring him on, They're saying,

19:55

we need a backup. It's okay,

19:58

Desmond Ritter, Right, let's

20:00

see. Let me think of another one west coast. To get him

20:02

back closer to west, they

20:06

went with Garoppolo. Yeah, you know,

20:08

I'm not saying Zach would have succeeded, but

20:11

there are ways that it wouldn't have been. This tire

20:14

fire that New York

20:16

was not, that was not where

20:18

he needed to go. That's just not where he

20:20

needed to go. Now, c J. Stroud looks

20:23

talented enough to succeed anywhere, and

20:25

there are those guys. But Zach

20:27

Wilson could have gone somewhere and

20:29

it worked a little, because I mean, it's it's

20:31

it's literally been a.

20:33

Disaster, is it, Marcus Russell lovel

20:35

Bet?

20:35

How about this? How about the Niners

20:37

with Sam Darnold gone. That's

20:40

an offense they have Josh

20:42

Dobbs, I think, and that he works cerebral

20:44

guy would work in that offense. But Zach Wilson,

20:47

keep your eye, Niners. I

20:49

wouldn't give up much for him. But I'm

20:52

just saying, here's a bag of balls.

20:53

Can we have Zach will Let's

20:56

go to the Carnson.

20:57

The Clippers got Russell Westbrook back

21:00

from injury last night, but it didn't matter. They

21:02

still got their doors blown off by the Pacers.

21:05

Geez, Tyler's

21:07

ticked off of his team.

21:08

Here's what he said right

21:10

now.

21:11

Do we have an identity? I

21:13

think yeah, we're soft. That can

21:15

be an identity if you want to call it that. Like

21:17

we got to be tougher mentally and physically,

21:21

but we do have an identity. When we was twenty six or five,

21:23

we had a great identity, you know. So you

21:25

can't pick and choose

21:27

when you want to lead, you can't pick and choose

21:29

when you want to have identity. You can't pick

21:31

and choose when you want to do things the right way. And

21:33

so just do the right things every night, and everything

21:36

else will fall in and fall in order.

21:37

Yeah. By the way, when he James

21:40

Harden came over very critical of it,

21:42

and then I looked very wrong for

21:45

two months, the

21:47

old captain appears to have nailed

21:49

it. Hardened end of a season,

21:52

teams getting silly distracted.

21:55

My takes are almost always right. Sometimes

21:57

it takes several months to uncover the Yeah,

22:00

yes.

22:00

Sir, this feeling

22:04

plenty.

22:04

Defense. How in the world can you have Kawhi

22:07

and Paul George and be that bad defensively

22:09

disinterested?

22:10

They're right, they've seen them at their best.

22:12

They're like, we got this Harden seeps

22:14

through the franchise. Now they don't want to play defense.

22:16

Kawhi is a great defender, Paul George is

22:18

a great defender.

22:20

I'm guaranteeing you they'll defend in the postseason.

22:22

What it matters. It doesn't matter in March.

22:24

I'm sorry, Oh, so you just show up for the show

22:26

when it matters in the fall, spring and summer at

22:30

a big deal.

22:30

Don't please, don't compare me.

22:31

Tout George over here is

22:34

guiding the ship every day.

22:35

I'm a Lebron kind of guy.

22:36

I show up unless there's an ankle injury like

22:39

tonight for Lebron.

22:40

I mean, you can't. I mean, I understand they're a veteran

22:43

team, but it's like when

22:45

you here's when you know it's the hard and

22:47

effect. They are now terrible defensively.

22:50

There's too many they have size, they have great

22:52

wing defenders. They can't be terrible defensively.

22:55

That'd be like the Lakers with a D and the protecting

22:58

the rim being bad defenders.

22:59

Chiefs really struggled earlier this season. They

23:01

were, oh, what's going on with the Chiefs one?

23:03

I mean that organization that consistently

23:05

wins championship.

23:06

Well, yes, the Chiefs.

23:07

They were really in

23:09

a bad place.

23:10

I got there.

23:11

But I trust them to pivot

23:13

when the games matter. Hardening

23:15

the Clippers. Does that say trust

23:18

in the postseason?

23:18

Trust them in the first round of the playoffs to pivot

23:20

when the games matter first round?

23:22

I didn't say the odd against the Light the

23:24

Beam team is that who they

23:27

play? Would who would they play?

23:28

They would play the Pels and io

23:31

Zion.

23:33

Oh, I probably probably take

23:35

the clippers.

23:36

Like I said, they will lock in when it matters.

23:39

Kind of like me.

23:39

By the way, that that whole Zion skinny

23:42

thing.

23:42

You love it, don't you.

23:43

I've just seen the video

23:46

now now I'm paying attention to it.

23:48

This idea that he shed thirty pounds

23:51

twenty five But who's Kelly? Everybody?

23:54

You know, I get it. That felt like

23:56

it was sold to me.

23:57

Well he swore off doughnuts'

24:00

It's New Orleans.

24:00

I've told you before. There are certain cities in America

24:03

hard to get abs. New Orleans is

24:05

one of them. Hard to have abs in New Orleans.

24:08

It's just a hard place to have Miami, you're

24:11

outdoors a line, la. Come

24:14

on, people out here now,

24:16

everybody's got a trainer. You're outdoors,

24:19

you're moving all the time, belong

24:21

to three gyms. No, I mean the whole city

24:23

is on a zempe. I

24:26

thought about it, Uh,

24:28

you know, I really did. But it doesn't do anything.

24:31

Get cut up for the summer shredded.

24:33

Apparently, you take it and you just you.

24:35

Lose your appetite.

24:36

Not that I you lose more than your appetite.

24:38

Let me tell you that J Mack

24:41

with the news.

24:42

Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping

24:44

by the Herd Line News.

24:46

All right, great, wrap it up next to Herd.

24:48

25:10

us in between the ears, anyone from a therapist

25:12

to someone like Ed Milett or John Gordon.

25:14

We've all been through some sort of adversity

25:17

to get to the top. We've all used different tools.

25:19

25:22

25:24

app, Apple Podcasts or wherever

25:27

25:30

So what we were saying this is that Jerry Jones

25:32

and the Cowboys came out earlier today and

25:35

there's no talk about giving Dak Prescott

25:37

an extension because I don't think Dallas should

25:39

or wants to pay him in the fifties. So

25:41

I said Kirk Cousins had

25:44

value in a weaker division going

25:46

to a young team where he can be the grown up.

25:48

I think Dak Prescott has a market. It's

25:51

small, but it's in forty

25:53

five forty eight million, to a

25:55

young team where he can be the grown

25:57

up and adult and be the leader for the team.

26:01

And I've always said Kirk and Dak

26:03

Prescott are the same quarterback. One

26:05

has a star on the helmet, one has

26:07

the Jordan brand. When you look at

26:09

their numbers, Dak and Kirk.

26:11

Now for the radio audience, I do apologize

26:14

they are virtually statistically the exact

26:16

same quarterback. Dak has

26:19

had better offensive lines

26:22

and a more consistent run game. Kirk

26:24

Cousins has had usually a better number one

26:26

receiver. Both their defenses

26:29

hit and miss. Both have gone

26:31

through a couple of different coaches. They're the exact

26:34

same statistical quarterback in

26:36

the same conference across

26:38

the board wins, completion percentage, passing

26:40

yards TD, interceptional passer

26:42

rating. Neither has ever had the

26:45

greatest coach in the league or the worst.

26:48

Dak's had better o lines, run game, and

26:51

Kirk's always had a really really good number

26:53

one receiver. And so

26:55

I do think Dak has a market, but it's Kirk's market

26:58

in a weaker division with

27:01

a young team that you're not paying

27:03

offensive people. That's Atlanta

27:05

right now, you're about two years from paying them. Kirk

27:08

can come in, you give him mid forties. He's

27:10

worth it. He's the adult, the mature adult Dak

27:13

in New England. I could make an argument

27:15

that New England trades down from

27:17

the number three spot because they like Caleb

27:20

and Drake Mayn they can't get either, They're not

27:22

in love with any other quarterback, and they

27:24

load up on draft picks, and then

27:26

they bring in Dak and can over

27:28

pay him a little bit based on the fact they're not

27:30

paying any of their young players.

27:33

So I think Dak to New England is a real play

27:35

here. I'm not saying he's gonna beat

27:37

Josh Allen or Aaron Rodgers or Mike

27:39

you know, or two I don't know. But there

27:41

is a market for Kirk and Dak. But you

27:44

can't send Dak up against

27:46

Herbert and Harbaugh, Mahomes

27:48

and Reed and pay him sixty million and things. Yeah,

27:50

right, it has worked. It

27:52

doesn't work in Dallas. I don't

27:54

think the six or the high five works

27:57

for him. I don't. This is

27:59

not baseball where we romanticize

28:02

regular season greatness. It's

28:04

not the NBA where if you don't

28:06

win titles, but aesthetically, optically,

28:09

stylistically, you're a Hall of Famer. We

28:11

like your game. C NFL win games

28:13

in January. That's all it matters. If

28:15

you want to make the big bucks or

28:18

if you don't win Super Bowls, you're you're

28:20

an all time unique talent. Lamar

28:22

Jackson, I've never seen a quarterback move like that. Josh

28:25

Allen six six, two fifty runs

28:27

over people. Those guys are so unique,

28:31

Lamar Mahomes. They're just so unique.

28:33

You just gotta pay him. But

28:36

Dak and Kirk it is nuts.

28:39

Hey.

28:40

I don't think you could take two other veteran quarterbacks

28:42

in the league, put their numbers together and

28:44

have a similar comp Now. I think Kirk

28:46

is a better, more accurate thrower,

28:49

and I think Dak moves better. Otherwise,

28:52

same quarterback, smart,

28:54

mature, capable, predictable,

28:58

little lower ceiling. Kirk's not gonna

29:00

to be a playmaker. Dak's gonna miss

29:02

some open throws. He's not a fluid natural

29:04

thrower. Just the way it is but

29:06

there you go. I love today's

29:09

show, Mark little college

29:11

basketball, second day in a row, committed

29:13

to the tournament.

29:14

Love it. I love that you're

29:16

locked in. Where are you on Marquette? NC State?

29:19

You know I'm loaded up on Marquette.

29:20

Don't have a strong vibe, don't

29:23

have a strong.

29:23

Vie Geese looking good.

29:24

Remember the conspiracy theory I floated, Big

29:27

snubbed. Big East is showing.

29:28

Out in the tournament. They are playing really well.

29:30

I mean Yukon obviously, but Marquette's

29:33

done exceptionally well.

29:34

Yeah.

29:34

I don't know if anybody can beat Yukon. I

29:36

just feel like they're just you heard Mark Few any

29:40

day, anyone's beatable.

29:40

I don't think San Diego State does it. Did you see the line

29:43

went from nine and a half to eleven

29:45

And San Diego State's good defensively,

29:48

Yeah,
