The Husky Honks on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM. Youwers takes the shockut Staff, He's take the past. Pressure coming, goes the thing. We're going, Juxon Nuts to the ball Away the huskiesmart headed to Houston. All right, boys and girls, here we go. We got something special for you. I remember the Apple Cup two years ago and Greg Lewis is here. Greg, how are you paling to see you? All right? Dick Baird told me after the game, he said, I'm done. I'm done. The only way I will come back into a radio show with you schmucks is if Washington's playing for the national title. Boom, here we are, Here we go. Two years later, we got Greg Lewis, We got Dick Baird, We got Hugh Melani Huey, how are your palins? What's happening to go dog joining us on the phone. We got Mario Bailey because Mario's got a big time job and he can't be bothered by hanging out with us all day long. Mario, how are your buddy? What's going on doing well? Man? Have you seen your coach? And it was nice to be seen. I love this is great getting everyone together. Man, What a time to be a Hoskey football fan. What a time to be a Hoskey Hawk. And guys, I think we let age before beauty go. So let's let Dick have the floor for a second and just give us your thoughts. Man, what this run the Huskies are on right now? Dick has meant to you? Buddy? Oh, it's pretty special obviously for everybody. But you know, I remember my first year in the program with you. By the way, we beat Michigan and we reached the peak of my career. When we beat Michigan for the national title. So I hope that this is not a step on me going out the door, because I'd love to beat Michigan again. So you know, we've never taken the approach like Michigan was any different than anybody else. Although I remember just a couple of years ago I quit that was a tough Michigan game. But guys, honestly, if I would have told you and Mario, let's start with you, because I know you got to go in a second here, if I would have talked to Mario two years ago after getting destroyed by the Wolverines in ann Arbor, that we'd be here playing them for the national title, is there any party your Mario that would have bought that. No, I feel like I'm a betting man and I wouldn't have taken that bet. But I will say that sorry. Coach says, well, I appreciate you, man. You've always done that for me, and I was part of the last time that the guys went undefeated. So I don't want to say there as a common denominator. But Harball was under pressure. He had never been Ohio State, he had lost to Michigan State, and there weren't a lot of people in support of him. That game he made a statement, so he sort of exkewed himself into prominence and being a great Michigan coach again because of that game against the Huskies. How great would it be for us to be that same team that denies him the ability to win a national championship and hopefully sends him off to the NFL. Somewhere I know Deck appreciates this. We have gone six minutes and here Mellin has not said a word to tell you what I know. This is for you. Hey, these youngsters haven't paid their dues. Man, they didn't know You're right twelve man? Like, what's up? But uh, you know, I I think it just strikes me obviously, I'm here to say Panis is the the best quarterback in Husky history. Well that's not a terribly profound statement, because eventually somebody's somebody's got to have the best quarterback, right, But I agree with you. I totally agree with you. But then if you think of like like think of like the wheel of fortune, that wheel, right, let's throw out the first sixty years of Husky football, because that's that's just like rugby we'll just take the last sixty years put each year. Now, let's go to the wide receiver wheel Spin that that, well, what a coincidence. The receiving core twenty twenty three is the best receiving core in history. Now let's go to the offensive line. Spin that one that that what a coincidence? To twenty twenty three is the best offensive line. Wow? And then and then we can say the same thing for grub. Now, now I wouldn't say running back, is it Corey Dillon and Napoleon and and and and Brune. I wouldn't say the tight end, but the components of the pass game, the idea that they would mesh in all at one time with these those four principal parts that I mentioned. You know, it's just like watching the National Football League wearing Husky uniforms. Hey, Mario, did you hear that best wide receiver corps of all time? What do you make of that? Baby? I heard him Their best wide receiving corps is what he said. Yeah, I think I think in Washington history there's only been one receiver that's been like the pack offensive player of the year. I can't recall who that is, but well, that's one another day and another discussion. Was it Regie Williams now? And I'll say this spinter games, it wasn't Reggie Williams because they were probably like six and five or six and six. You gotta win two? And who was he under six feet tall? Hey, Dick, let me ask you this, who's the only Husky running back that was packed twelve ten Player of the Year, first Team All American Dope Walker winner And he didn't even get a mention? Wow, Mario, if you tell Mario that if this team wins on Monday Night, guys and Mario, you gotta sit this conversation out. Is this now the greatest Hosky football team of all time? Dick? If they win Monday Night? Sure, I mean nobody Already They've got more wins in a season than any team ever. I'll say this, They're the most accomplished. And Mario and I have had this debate, and he can say what he wants. This Husky team will be the most accomplished Husky football team of all time. But if you line this team up against the ninety one team, they would not beat the ninety one team. I'm gonna do. They would not beat the ninety one team because I'm gonna tell you what, Michael Pennix would not have four seconds to throw against Steve Man, Donald Jones, Dave HEIMI feels Chico Frehlean, whoever else was pushing in that offensive line. But they would be the most accomplished Uskie team. Tyler Hell, would we been talking about like this three days before that game? First of all, you know soft like years ago, that was thirty years ago, Like like if you put what you're talking about relative or are you talking about absolutely? I'm trying to piss off the one guy who's on the telephone right now, Well off, he likes to stird upot you. You know this, Mario, Mario, make your case. Man, come on, you got you gotta understand that there's a difference between accomplishment and the best and fifteen and oher is better than twelve. And oh you got to give it up to these guys if they win up Monday night, Mario, Man, there's no question I give it up to him. I want to have company. I don't want to just have one or two national chants. I want to be similar to a program like Alabama, where you have eight nine teams and your arguing which one is the best. The competitor in me is never gonna say that team is better than the team I played for. The objective is to beat everybody in front of you. They only put twelve opponents in front of us, and that's what we did. And we didn't just beat them. We beat everybody up except for maybe one team. So you're not gonna get me to admit that that team is better. But I'm more than happy and grateful that these guys are about to be fifteen and oh and I think they're a great team. I just can't say that they're better than the ninety one. It doesn't make any difference. We're not playing each other, we're playing Mischeon. Let's just beat Mission. Well, Mario, what are your thoughts? Man? Honestly, let's go around the room, guys, as we head in the Monday night at four forty five, Seattle time biggest college football game, I think in the history of the state of Washington, biggest college football game the Huskies have ever played. And the sendoff today, guys, was great. There were two thousand people, if not more. The kids loved it. It was awesome for those guys to get to see that, Mario, what are you thinking? What's swimming around that head of yours? Before we had the Monday at four forty five, I just flat out think the same thing I thought about Texas. I just don't think they can keep up with us. I think our offense is too potent. I think we have too many weapons from the trio of receivers where you could say, actually five receivers a tight end with Westover and Cope. I think our offense can't be stopped and their offense isn't good enough. I know that their defensive line is great, their defense is great, but they're not going to get five sacks on us in a half like they did Alabama. We have the best offensive line in the nation. We're not going to give up sacks like that. The only hope that they do have is if we go back to that Michigan game you guys were referring to earlier, and they have a two hundred and fifty yard Russian day. But I just don't think they can keep up with us. Yeah. When I look at this game, I look at Michigan schedule versus Washington schedule. I look at what the Wolveries have done. Yes, they played great defense, but they play in a conference that's offensive averse. I haven't seen a lot of offense posted plays, especially on the outside and down the field in the Big Ten Conference, so their defense hasn't had to go up against Roma Dunze, Jalen Pope, Jalen McMillan, and with a quarterback who throws absolute darts down the field. So in my mind, Michigan is going to see something offensively that they have not seen. And now can they keep up? Can they score with Washington. We've proved time and time again we've gone up against quote unquote good defenses Utah, Oregon State last week against Texas that we can still do what we do. We still throw the ball down the field, we throw it on the outside, We make big plays in the passing game. Our running back can run the ball, but he's even more efficient as a pass protector. So our offensive line isn't just built with those five guys in front, Add the tight end, add the running back in and we do a great job there. So I think we'll be able to have success offensively. Now Michigan has got to figure out how do we score thirty five points? Because Washington is going to score thirty five. I mean, I think you made a great point about Dylan Johnson and his blitz pick up be one of the best blockers. Plus, well, the East Stones guys are linebackers coming in and that fits with this team we're about to play. They brought a lot of pressure in their last game and almost invariably had five or six guys coming at the quarterback. That means you're back either we got to throw it quick, which that's fine, or we And by the way, I totally agree with you. I think we got the best quarterback I've ever seen at Washington. I don't understand how anybody's dogging him or our team considering how good he is. But defensively is where our liabilities are at his point and it's a matter of how well we can stop the run and that will decide the game. Yep, Well, I just look at this game compared to a week ago. For the Huskies. They could watch the Tcu'm talking about the Husky offense. They could watch TCU. They could watch Oklahoma against Texas to get some type of a feel for how their opponent was going to play. Michigan's opponents have been so bad on offense only. The best comparison is to watch the Maryland tape with Talia tagle Loa and that that offense that doesn't have nearly the skill, but tag tagle of Vloa had tourn forty seven yards on sixty seven percent completion. I'm telling you this. Everybody's been saying it, but I think when you study the tape, you don't really realize. You watch that Ohio State tape and common cord is horrible and and look, you know the quarterback mill Row for Alabama. It looks like DK Metcalfe. He's that beautiful athlete, but his processing, his accuracy, everything you would say about a refined quarterback. He's his opposite of Michael Pennix as a defense could ever match. I mean, I know we'll break down the defense, but I think that, uh, that the real key for me is watching that front seven with with Michigan guys, and going back to the Arizona State game. Arizonas State really bothered the Huskies by moving latterally at the snap and then in the second half heating up in those a gaps Michigan does. They're not listening as much, but they blitz effectively, and they do a hell of a lot of inside twists, not so much twists on the outside. They like to get their ends up the field, but those inside guys like to twist, and that's something they gave the Huskies a little bit of a problem, especially against Arizona State. I think Michigan's gonna really dial up that tape and we'll see if he's gonna happle low. The Huskies also had a pure freshman playing center that day because Below is out and Parker had to go to right guards. So, Mario, what would be your biggest concern? I mean, I know, Mario, you said you don't think Michigan can keep up with Washington. What would be the biggest concern Stopping that great running game, protecting Michael Pennocks against that great front seven. What's your biggest concern, Mario, when when you go to bed Sunday night, what's your biggest concern about the Wolverines. It's stopping the run game. I know coach Harbaugh is a great coach and Hughes right, they can dial it that a State game. But you're too We had some injuries of that game, so they exploited that. But he's gonna try and run, because the best way to count on Michael Pennix is to keep him off the field. And if they could run the entire game, that's what they're gonna do. Teams have tried, but then they stop and they start trying to pass the ball, and that leads right into our defense. Our defense has continued to make the players when needed, but if they run that ball, that's the only thing that can keep our offense off the field. Yeah, I know that. All right, Mario? When are you going down what's your plan this weekend? Pal? I'm not sure. Just trying to get out there and enjoy my teammates and everybody. You know, you think that this opportunity comes along all the time, but it doesn't come along too often. So I'm just looking forward to enjoying everybody and having a good time. All right, man, love it. See you down there, Pal, and we'll talk this weekend in Houston on the air at two thirty Houston time. All right, Pal, We'll see you then, all right, fellas, all right, all right, Mario. I know Mario's gonna run. He's got a job, he's a big win. Now he's got to take off So we're gonna hang out for a little bit though, until four o'clock today and keep talking Huskies here, guys, and just so glad we can bring everyone here together. I mean, Greg, you know that me and Dick and Hugh went through some pretty lean times with this program for a long time. I remember the last time that the three of us sat together before a Michigan game was the ass kicking out there at ann Arbor. If I would have told you walking out of that stadium that night, Dick, in two years from now, we're playing these guys for the national championship, you would have drug tested me. How did they get to this point in such a short amount of time? Coach? They hired Kaylen Devor. That's quite simple. I mean he's brought in a belief system for these kids, and he restored the brotherhood and the kids feel really good about each other. They trust each other, And I think it all goes back to Kaylen and his demeanor and how steady he is and how organized he is, and if you go to their practices, they're very fundamentally sound. So I think it all goes back to coaching. Yeah, I think, Softie, if you remember you had me on the air after they had hired Kaylin the Boor as a coach, and you asked me what I thought about it, and I was like, eh, you know, I was like, we'll have to wait and see. I mean, my opinion at that time was we'll have to wait and see because I don't know that much about him. I know there were some guys that were hire on my list that I thought they should go after, and my mind frame at the time was we're a big time program. We should be able to go out and hire a big time coach regardless of what's happened in the past. Boy was I wrong. I mean, one hundred percent, Dick everything you just said. The reason they are here is because the man that they hired and killing the Bors made every great decision. I'll tell you one part of what he does that really impressed me. I asked him a question a while ago about his ability to bring in transfers, because that's a big part of this thing. Now, let's keep in mind, no Michael Pennix, no Dylan Johnson, guys like that are directly responsible and a big part of why we're playing for the national championship. He said, we don't list. We don't bring anybody in here that we think is not going to buy into or disrupt the culture. I don't care how good of a player they are. We're gonna bring in the guys who buy into this culture, who are going to do it the way we want it and really fit in here. And our players have got to like them. We make sure of that. And I'm going to tell you if it wasn't for the Transferred Portal and what they've been able to do in the last two years, we wouldn't be here today. Applies there. Yeah, the Portal is about to win Washington a national title. Yeah, I mean that's set. That's all. And here we got a break here. But just a real quick thought from you. Do you remember your thoughts today the bor was hired and what your reaction was, and just a quick thought on how he's done this in such a short amount of time. Well, the only guy I mentioned prior to that that I thought was a candidate was de Boor, and the reason being the comparison I made was urban Meyer. Now personality is notwithstanding. I just I thought of urban Meyer. You look at what he did at Bowling Green. Then he went to Utah then he went to Florida and then what he did at Ohia State. The guy it was literally like he hit for the cycle as a baseball player. And Debor reminded me that of like every single stop, including even that twenty nineteen one year stop as the offensive coordinator at Indiana with Pennix, and how proficient they were on offense, it was like, this guy has an impeccable resume. And I didn't know that he would do all this this fast, but I think that it showed early on. You know, the Michigan State game last year was what where I just go whoa? You know, watching the coaches tape of that, and that was clear like, oh, this guy's a whole another cut of steak. But he had showed the numbers before him. Let's dive into this guy's next. All right, we're Husky hawking Greg Lewis, Dick Barrett. Here mellin with us until four o'clock today Michigan Washington, Monday night for the National Championship. Hu Mill and Dick Baird Greg Lewis Softie with you dogs in Michigan for the National Championship on Monday at four forty five. Let's talk about that husky offense guys against the Michigan defense. Seems to be Dick the Marquee matchup in some ways of this game, the number one offense in cowach football against what some folks think is the best best defense. Excuse me in America. What do you see when you watch that Michigan defense on film? Their coach, well, I've only watched a couple of games, and you know, they are very solid. They're very fundamental. They're basic though, you know, and I think they like to bring pressure. There's no questions. So in order to be successful, we're going to have to have our pass protection down. And that's really where Greg and I were talking about it. That's where they were Dylan Johnson really comes in because I don't think people realize what a good blocker he is. You know. That's but you know, going into a game like this, I mean, I just know coach's temperament, you know, and I just really think that Kalin's how he carries himself is how his team carries itself. And I you know, I'm confident. I think we're going to go in and win this game. The defense of Michigan does one thing extremely well. That's tackle. They don't miss a lot of tackles. They don't let a lot of guys break tackle and make a small play into a big play. But they're going to have to make a philosophical decision. You talked about the fact that they like to bring pressure. You bring pressure against Washington, you don't get there. You've left your defensive backs pretty much unless you got some really complicated zone blitzes. You know how to do you leaving your dbs in some one on one coverage against Roma, Dunze, Jalen McMillan, Pope, Jalen Pope, and westover All, four of those guys are threats. And you know, we run a lot of three receivers sets. We have three guys on one side, one on the other, and Jalen McMillan and Westover really like to work the underneath stuff. And you got Pope and a Dunzie going down the field. And because our quarterback has such a great ability to throw the ball into a space and place where only his guy can catch it, if you have any one of those guys guys on the outside in one on one coverage, he's gonna throw the ball to him and he's gonna put it in the spot for yeah. Here. How about you your thoughts on the Michigan defense against the Husky offense. Well, first of all, you go back a couple of years ago. They were really highlighted by defensive ends Aiden Hutchinson and David Ajabo, who would have been a first round draft pick had he had not torn his achilles heel. Now they're more centered on their defensive tackles. They got Mason Graham's first team All Big Ten by the coaches, Chris Jenkins second team, and then they got a backup who was second team All Conference in Kenneth Grant. So they've got a rotation I think similar to Texas. Their defensive ends are not elite, But then if you look at they got six players their first or second team, all Big ten. I'm gonna talk about two of them. I got breakdowns on all of them. I'm gonna talk about two of them. Number one is Junior Colson, their middle linebacker, number twenty five. He's the guy that when I watch the tape and I've studied a lot, the defense goes through him. This is a guy that has eighteen and forty four snaps in his college career and he's still got another year of eligibility. That's one hundred and one less than Ben Burke Curvin and so you two hundred and forty five pounds. He can fight through double teams. He can go through now. He's a hell of a player. The other guy that everybody's talking about Will Johnson, the true sophomore, six foot two. He's got great feet. But I'll tell you what, I think that guy is entirely overrated. I think he's got nice feet, but he doesn't mix it up and he plays. He doesn't play with the confidence that I would expect a guy. He's given up too much cushion. And I think I'll tell you what, they're gonna match him on on roma dun Roma Dunze is gonna wear him out if you don't put a safety over the top. And you know a couple of things. He gets a pick six against Minnesota. That's the type of thing that gets to you all conference. That was just a two catchy triggers. Minnesota's quarterback was horrible. He gets a pick against Ohio State and Marvin Harrison, but they put a safety over the top. He jumps hard inside. You do that against Washington, Washington will run the whole shot, just like they hit at Oregon down in Eugene. They will not let that kid play that technique. So I think there's an opportunity you're gonna have to go hard over the top because Will Johnson, this reputed guy, cannot handle Roma Dunza. Yeah. Well, Dick, I'm looking at who Michigan has played this year. Two teams in the top fifty in total offense, and that's Ohio State of forty seven, UNLV at forty two out of a different conference. How much of a culture shock, honestly, will there be for Michigan's defense when they see the Hosky offense compared to what they've seen in the Big Ten this year. Well, I think the same way that every team. Nobody really knows what we're doing, you know, And I think Hugh makes a good point because we have that number one is such a dynamic guy. They have to roll the coverage that way, so you know, that just opens it up for number two and number eleven, and that's what they've been doing. You see, they're long balls, a lot of them. Obviously you go to one if one's one on one. I don't care who they have on their team. I'll bet on Rome. But the fact that if they roll their coverage to roam a lot, that's going to open up somebody else. They need to run to win this game, because they did not run against Texas and they still want the game. The Huskies don't need to run the football for a lot of yards. They need to run in critical situations, get first downs when it's third short or you know, one yard. But they have a passing game where they can throw it ladder with Jayalen McMillan back and with Jeremy Bernard, those are two guys who catch passes in the backfield into screen game you know out Latterly that equates to run play. So as long as they can continue to do that. It was a little tougher when Jalen McMillan was out. They really needed to run. But with him back, they don't have to. Yeah, and I think worth mentioning is number zero for them. Mike Santastrill their nickel guy. He reminds me a lot of Devin Witherspoon. I mean, he's a live wire, quick, you know, aggressive guy. But you know a lot of talk about in the Rose Bowl five sacks by the Wolverines against Alabama. I charted this thing. Here's the summary. All of them involved more than a four man rush, and I would say all five maybe four and a half. I'm not going to break him down individually, but all five of those sacks on some level involved poor communication by the Alabama offensive line, turning guys loose and in him Deformation's mill Rows. As I mentioned earlier, he doesn't have near the sophistication of Pennix. He's he's letting guys you know, the center's going one way. Hey, quarterback, you know that blitzing linebackers your man. He's not even looking there. So I think that Washington looks at that tape and they say, yeah, you got pressure against them, but we're we're too good in our communications. Penix is too experienced. I think it's it's a concern in terms of I said laterally, the way they will stunt and move, and they can close to the football. If they get close to the football, they can accelerate. They got dudes, But don't expect Washington to have the communication problems that Alabama did up front, no doubt and deck Texas came into the Sugar Bowl. They were thirty second in sacks in the country, thirty six in sacks with thirty two. Michigan's got thirty eight. Texas did not get home one time with Murphy or Swayne hit Michael. You know, Michael pers to the ground, that's right. No hits, no sacks, no nothing. So I think a lot of people Dick were waiting to see, Okay, is this offensive line really as good as people say they are. I think they proved that last Monday against the Longhorns. They haven't been beaten, you know, that's the whole deal. You know they've we've gotten more sacks than our opponents have. I think our offensive line is obviously the key to what everything Michael does. I think I think they're really good past blockers. I think they do a nice job of passing off the interior stunts with which Hugh mentioned, and I agree with him that that's something you're gonna have to take away. But you know, I don't know. I just got this feeling this is another magical year, and you know how well, how wonderful would be for this school and this team and these kids to go back and win a championship. Well, we're gonna come back and ask Dick Baird who he thinks will win the game on Monday. I'm not certain what he'll say out next. On ninety three to three KJRFM. Now back to the Husky Hunks, Mario Bailey, Greg Lewis and Dave Softey Muller powered by the emeral Quin Casino and Brock You by Coors, Light, by Zeke's Pizza and by King County Metro workup business programs on your home for the Huskies. Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM. Second down, four to go, four, fifteen to go in the Sugar Bowl, Pennix looking to throw lobs it up the left side, cartoons a con inside the fifteen head of bounds at the eleven rome. Oh doomsay, and the Huskies are in the red zone. All right, We're back here, Husky Hawks, Hello special edition. Greg Lewis, Dick Bayard, Hugh Mellin with us on the radio show brought to by Zeke's Pizza, cors Light, King County Metro Orcis Business Programs. Are friends at et Nomdiccare as well, who brought to you bring you the Husky Hero of the Game. Hopefully after a win this weekend, we'll be on the air next week talking about a Husky Hero of the game from at No Medicare. But Dick Bairn's with us here, Hugh Millen's with us here. Let's talk about kind of what we see from that Michigan offense, guys, and what concerns us. There's so much talk Greg and Dick and Hugh about the running game of Blake Korm and the Michigan Wolverines that people don't often talk about JJ McCarthy. So when you look at the quarterback across the way, and Greg will start with you, how concerned are you with the signal caller for the Wolverines on Monday Night? Well, I'm concerned with him if their run game is being dynamic because now you're paying so much attention to the run game. You're coming up, you're bringing an extra guy, you're playing fifty defense, We're going to extra D lineman in and you're getting sucked up. And then he's he's how would I call it, he's a better game manager than most. He's a guy who's going to be efficient. Yeah, he's not gonna make a lot. I think his interception ratio is the lowest and Michigan history or something like that, so he doesn't throw very many interceptions. But typically he's coming off play action. He's coming off of situations where the defense has been sucked up. Really playing a run game, and he's very efficient. But I don't think they're dynamic as you know some of the teams that we've played in the Pac twelve with Troy Franklin's and stuff like that on the outside. Right, So he didn't have those weapons out of Michael Pennicks would have. But he is very efficient. Yeah, Hughe twenty two touchdowns, four picks for JJ McCarthy out his leading receiver has forty five catches. Man. Yeah, yeah, First of all, the Michigan offense two point nine penalties per game, that's the fewest, being best in all of FBS. Their turnover margin of plus one point two that's the best. So they're not going to beat themselves. JJ McCarthy pass attempts twenty or more yards from the line of scrimmage forty five attempts. That's sixty eighth in college football. Pennix has one hundred and eight, which is number one. McCarthy has twenty four completions Pennis fifty play action. Everybody says, Michigan, that's it's McCarthy. In the play action. McCarthy has two hundred and thirty nine attempts not in play just drop back, only seventy five in play action. Now he's ten point nine yards per attempt in play action and a good healthy eight point five without play action. So but it's it's not as big of a concern as you thought. You still got to stop this kid in the dropback game. He's six foot three but only two hundred and two pounds. He's not going to run in the middle. He's a little bit frail, but he runs a four to four and and just here's the point. This offense has eight guys that are first or second team all Big Ten has voted by the coaches, and that's not counting Zach's dinner. The guard who got hurt against Ohio State, who's the number one? They will with McCarthy back there. They will fake the fly sweep one way out of an empty backfield. Then they will take the guard and tackle from the opposite way, and they will go quarterback counter the opposite way of the fly. They did that in the game winning drive against Alabama. They do it to go at Ohio State. This kid is really more of a threat with his legs, but he's a talented passer. They just don't really unleash. Remember now, Penn State in that game second half didn't throw a single pass attempt and they still found a way. That's right, So they will try and budge in the Husky dick. I remember Sam mcgreg during the Texas game, and you were begging the Huskies to put an extra defensive lineman. Remember that in the box to stop Baxter in blue. You can do that in a game like this. I think because you're not as concerned, I don't think Michigan has the weapons on the outside coach that Texas does. Yeah, and I agree. I think we have to have a monster game out of ninety one toule. I think he's he's a real key. We need to have him really break loose on the inside. But you know, we're gonna have to get We're gonna have to get pressure on this guy, and a lot of it's gonna have to come from a four man front. Yeah, I mean, I think Harbaugh is the type of guy who looks at history and tries to repeat it. And if you remember, going back to that game when we played down in Michigan, they didn't throw a pass in the second half. That's right. They ran the ball, ran the ball, ran the ball, ran the ball. And in some ways he probably looks at our defense and thinks that's the key to victory here as well. And so I don't expect to see a ton of down the field passes. I think that they're going to try to batter or ram Us up and down the field, and having an extra defensive lineman instead of the two tackles and the two defensive ends ZTF, probably a ZTF, you know, replace him with one of the defensive linemen and fortify that front, bring the linebackers up a little bit, but knowing that he is an efficient quarterback, like you just explained, a really good passer when he does throw the ball. You know, you play those guys honestly and you make some plays. And I like our secondary. I know, you know number twenty five has struggled at times, but I think that play that he made at the end of that Texas game is going to give him a boatload of confidence coming into this and I think we'll see that kid play even better. So I like our defensive chances against Michigan. We just have to be solid tacklers. We gotta get got We gotta get Blake korm down on the ground when we hit him. Like Mario always says, we got a rally to the football and everybody arrived there at the same time, you know. And really, when you're talking about the weapons, the guys that touched the ball, Roman Wilson, you know, look, he's a smallest guy, but he's fast, maybe a you know, a third or fourth rounder. I think that you know, the guy to be concerned about is Colston levelin first team All Big Ten tight end number eighteen. That's the guy that I think is their number one target. And Greg I just in watching Blake Korn, here's a guy that has over seven hundred touches in his Michigan career. To put that into perspective, Kenneth Walker, before he got drafted, had under five hundred, and so this guy's got a lot of experience and he reminds me I played with EMITTT. Smith. He reminds me of an Emmitt Smith in his vision is just so incredible. He's not the most skilled guy, but when you watch the end zone copy with the slow motion, you'd always say this is where he should go, and he's the guy that's making that read. I just think that it's he's a more instinctive player than maybe his physical skill set would allow. But because of that and the experience, he's just so dog on effective. I agree. I think if we hold that kid under one hundred yards, we're going to win the game. I really do. I think he's the key to the whole deal, and he's got a wonderful jump cut. I mean, he goes into the line and all of a sudden he's going in a different direction, and that makes it difficult. So going back to what Greg said, I think it's really critical that we tackle well out of the secondary, and if we do, we got a great chance. But they're going to try and grind it right down our throat. All right, outside of that, before we go, the key will Husky win on Monday night, Dick Baardt, you gotta win the kicking game, the gross baby, bring it home, win the kicking game.
