the things that you believe that creators

really need to be looking out for

off by saying there has never been

more of an equal playing field or

an equal opportunity on Instagram than there

is right now And that sounds kind

of maybe counter intuitive or surprising to

also say confidently it is tough to

grow right now and a lot of

people have experienced a big drop in

views, but that drop in views actually

relates to why the playing field kind

of been leveled so started to happen

in twenty Twenty. Three and it's definitely

in place now. And twenty twenty Four

and that is the real. Views have

significantly decreased. On average, they've gone down

by seventy six percent across the board.

Which. Is crazy like that's a massive drop

in views but the reason for that is

that Instagram is giving more read. Two

Photos and Carousel. Then they were in

Twenty Twenty One and Twenty Twenty Two.

Basically Instagram became like super hyper dominated

with real. They wanted to compete with

Tic Toc and there's a lot of

pushback from people who are like what

happened, photos, what happened to carousel, what

happened, this, everything besides these trending reels

and so it's really balance out the

playing field. And actually Carousel now have

a higher average engagement rate than Real

switches. very surprising to a lot of

people. That's the first thing I will

say is no matter what kind. Of

content you create. Videos. As

in like reels, photos, carousel infographics,

text posts you can have success

on Instagram. I think one of

the biggest changes that happening I

think is a great change is

what I'm calling the You Tube

with occasion of Instagram and for

people who are familiar with. Growing.

Over on you tube. it's a lot

less gimmicky then Instagram can often feel.

Instagram can often feel like there's always

these new like hacks and trends and

need to do this. One second text

posts you need to do this for

second real that has a hook and

then tells people to read the caption

and lives and nineteen paragraph caption. You

need to try this new trick basically

to trick the algorithm that's not as

common on you tube were on you

tube. It's more like if you can

create engaging content that is keeping people

watching. the. Entire video. Then you're going

to be rewarded for that. And there

were absolutely principles to keep in mind.

They're absolutely just like on you Tube

where there's the thumbnail and that, the

title and as that sort of thing.

There's definitely principles to keep in mind

that make posts more engaging and less

engaging on Instagram. But what I think

is exciting is. These. Little like fact

that you have to keep up with and

these little gimmicks that have been working on

Instagram over the last few years. They're.

Going to be a lot less effective in

Twenty Twenty Four and really the biggest one

If I can just conclude by saying this,

the the biggest one I think is going

away When I mentioned a moment ago where

it's like a four five second video, there's

a super engaging hook that. Zip on

the screen and it just has read the caption.

And the reason I think that's going away? His

first and foremost, let me say it's super effective

Right now. it's hard to scroll through real without

seeing a dozen of those. But the reason I

say it's going away is that when I'm pulling

my audience, when I'm listening to people, when I'm

speaking on stage and asking people about this specific

kind of post. People. Are annoyed by

it. Because. They're like it feels click

bt if you're gimmicky, it feels like I'm

being thrift or game a fight into reading

this long caption which often times the long

gaps itself feals drawn out and over the

top. long just for the sake of being

long. And so I think that trend is

going to be going away and what's going

to be replacing it is instead direct to

camera longer form videos where people can be

more authentic. they can be more like themselves.

They can share more of their personality in

their unique brand for they don't have to

worry about conforming to whatever the latest. Trending

Audio. The latest lip sync is.

And that's what I was like when I was hearing

must be long form. Clinton is what we're settling into

because that's really the antithesis of that. And I want

of the photography side because that's not really

and I'm like no, it's gonna come back

and it will come back because that's what

happens with trends So I would love to

hear from your own experience when it comes

to trends. How we need

to navigate. The. Difference between

a sticky kind of friend and maybe

we get lucky with something going viral

vs. sustainability because I know that you've

been able to grow. On. Multiple

easy So the strategy that you use clearly works

of like yeah there's going to be trendy thing

it make sense but there's also a foundation that

the biggest key with trend is I don't

going to rely on this. I'm not going

to just keep recreating trends for the sake

of trying to go viral. And I think

the biggest reason for that is that if

all you're doing is recreating trends, People.

Don't know the real you. They might relate

to your humor, They might think you're funny

or think that you have you know a

good thought your they are relating to whatever

topic. They. Don't know the real

the people are like. I don't just say

I've learned along the way. So

twenty twenty. I was very slowly

growing during that time. I think I grew from.

say twenty thousand thirty thousand followers over

the course of for five years and

it was slow growth. The definitely and

I think the biggest reason for that

slow growth is or with catering to

my pre existing audience quite often and

is a problem. Anything a lot of

people run into is there like okay

I'm going to use this Instagram account

to build my business or to grow

my brand or whatever but they're like

well but I still want to tear

the and Suzy who follows me. While

I still have all these friends who follow me and I

want to make sure they see my cute outfit or. The

make sure they see me out on date night or I

want to make sure they are impressed by X, Y and

Z and so for a few years. I. Would

you the occasional post about Instagram

growth? And then I would do

a post about me playing football with a

Drake lyric in the caption and then I

would do a post of like me with

my boys and were taken like a Swagger

picture and then I would do a random

tip about snapshot and then I would do

some super cheesy generic copy and paste quotes

with i remember this one post specifically of

like this gold lettering and it was like

the most generic quote of all time. When

I was like entrepreneurship that's going to me

my thing. But really the reason for my

slow growth is yes I was providing value,

but. I was also catering to different audiences, one

of which my friends and family love him to

16:44

death. They're never going to be my ideal customers,

right? Like I hope they're good enough family and

16:48

friends to buy my stuff, but that's know who

16:50

I'm trying to cater to. The someone trying to

grow with. And. Then even with

16:55

in. My. Business posts

there was no clear. Direction.

Right summonses Instagram. Sometimes it was snapshot,

sometimes it was random entrepreneurs quotes of

there was no clear direction. Then in

twenty twenty hours ago, communists are taking

this a lot more seriously and I'm

gonna move to more of like and

eighty twenty or even and ninety ten

rule where eighty to ninety percent of

my posts were about just going on

17:19

Instagram. So I cut out all the

other socials. i cannot entrepreneurship and was

just focused on growing on Instagram. not

even sales on Instagram, Not getting more

engagement, just growing your Instagram. And. Then

I would like sprinkle in the occasional post of like me

and my. Then. Girlfriend now, wife or something

17:34

like that, but. Premise. Just it's

17:36

Instagram tips. Then. August, Twenty

twenty rolls around and Instagram rolled out Instagram

reels, and at that time I was already

17:43

pretty big on Tic Toc. I think I'd

17:45

two or three hundred thousand followers on Tic

17:47

Toc at that time, So they let me

17:49

just take some of my tic talks and

17:51

post them on Instagram. And they didn't do

17:54

that well. But then I was

17:56

like what if I start posting Instagram growth

tips? As real. And. He

started you lot better. He start a pick

18:02

up some traction and then april first of

18:05

Twenty Twenty one. This is like the biggest

18:07

turning point in my Instagram growth. At

18:09

that stage I could consistently post about once

18:11

a day like maybe five six seven posts

18:14

a week, about once a day to my

18:16

feed. But I was going to challenge myself

18:18

for the next thirty days on April first

18:20

to the end of April. Twenty twenty one

18:22

know, post one real a day so that

18:24

at least one post today. But also, I

18:26

was gonna keep up with the other posts

18:28

that I was gonna have. you know, the

18:31

photos and the carousel, so was really more

18:33

like one and a half sometimes to post

18:35

the day, that sort of thing, And.

The growth in that period was all I

18:40

needed to seat. At the end, the thirty

18:42

days I had grown from. About.

18:44

Sixty five thousand to over one hundred thousand.

So I'd grown by like thirty or forty

18:48

thousand followers in those initial thirty days. As

18:50

like this is working with the reason I

18:53

think I had that success. Yes, I can't

discredit the you know it was early to

18:57

the stage of reels known was being that

18:59

consistent with real that that time no one

was posting as frequently as at that time.

It wasn't a big deal that you know

post a real a day yet no one

19:07

really knew about it. Yes, all those true.

But also the growth came because I challenge

myself to get outside my comfort zone, not

to. Get philosophical or cheesy here, but.

In. Life growth comes when we push ourselves

a little bit outside of our comfort zone,

Right? Like I could consistently post one post

a day. When. If I doubt that

up a little bit more and I did

19:27

one real a day plus all of those

19:29

additional post that was planning on sharing anyways

and so that I met a hundred case

I experienced and early when, which is I

think a key that a lot of people

who have success in any field oftentimes experiences

something early that motivates them to keep going

in and he might even be an early

19:44

last. Like an early tragedy or setback, the

kind of motivates you to double down. But

for me it was an early when. And

again I say early it was like for five years

into my journey. At this point rather gums can keep

going and here we are. I think I'm at like.

One. Thousand and Thirty eight days later,

and I'm still posting at least one

real every single day in addition to

whatever other terrorist cells or photos or

graphics that I have plans for that

day. And the growth since then has

been pretty consistent. There's definitely been waves,

were. Hey. This month was. Fifty.

Thousand new followers this month was fifteen

thousand new followers but it's still been

pretty consistent and now I'm close to

seven hundred K on Instagram and it

just kept marginal on kept the train

role and with about I think I

average about two point three posts a

day to my feet on Instagram. Wow.

That's amazing. Okay, so much to

unpack there. For one, I want

to chat about. The. Idea of

like which we do I want to go for

The amount of posting because I know

have massive challenge that people have is

just the the threat of content creation

that they have to make their can

be people out there that are just

naturally they're like good at with and

stuff up and they can do it

pretty fast and in there's other people

it it's gonna take more time but

I don't care what side of that

you land on creating content every day

is a system. There's boundaries, there's management,

So with that to say, what are some
