I don't think I realized at the beginning, I would kind
0:02
of be like, oh, it's fine. I can give them the
0:04
right. I'm happy that I'm giving them money to begin with.
0:07
But what you realize that brands will pay
0:09
you is what I realized. No
0:11
matter what, if a brand gives me a rate, even if it's
0:14
what I want, I will still come back and be like, oh,
0:16
I would love to just put it here.
0:18
And they will. 95% of the
0:20
time, they will. So I think if
0:22
you realize your worth, it really shows if you
0:24
have your confidence when you're pitching these brands and
0:26
they will come back and they will give you
0:28
the rate you want. Welcome to the
0:30
influencer podcast. I'm your host, Julie
0:33
Solomon. If you found yourself
0:35
here, it means you are ready to unleash
0:37
the powerful visionary that lives inside you, turning
0:40
you into an authentic leader
0:42
who creates influence, impact and
0:44
change. Let's get started. Hello
0:52
and welcome back to another exciting
0:54
episode of the influencer podcast. Today
0:56
we are talking about how to
0:58
show up vulnerable on Instagram and
1:00
make money doing it. We
1:02
are talking to miss Macy J. Today, Macy
1:05
Neely. I got to meet Macy through my
1:07
Pigeon Perfect program and she is one of
1:09
our incredible students on there. And
1:11
I had to bring her and her message to this
1:13
podcast. Macy is a former
1:15
single mom. She is also a D1
1:17
athlete and she is an abuse
1:20
and assault survivor. Macy has
1:22
been able to amass over 930,000 TikTok followers
1:24
by sharing the authenticity of her story,
1:29
her past and her message. And
1:31
not only has she been able to curate
1:33
an incredible group and community of faithful followers,
1:36
but she has also been able to set
1:38
her family up for success by making a
1:40
business and a brand out of her vulnerability
1:42
and out of her message and out of
1:45
her story. And I can't wait for her
1:47
to share how she's been able to do
1:49
this because if you are someone who maybe
1:52
you just want to tap into your community a
1:54
little bit more, maybe you want to share those
1:56
vulnerable moments, maybe you want to get a little
1:58
bit more authentic with how you. you are showing
2:00
up and how you are creating your messaging, but
2:02
you don't really know how, or
2:04
maybe you just need some more inspiration to
2:07
make it happen, Macy is going to do
2:09
just that for you today. Let's get started.
2:12
I am coming on to do this live. Hi
2:14
everybody. We are going to
2:16
be talking about making money today, which
2:19
is one of my favorite topics, and
2:22
how to quickly and easily make money. One
2:24
of the ways that I have been able
2:26
to do it and thousands of others have
2:28
been able to do it is
2:30
by pitching. So
2:33
you can pitch a brand, a partner,
2:35
a sponsor, whatever you want to call
2:37
them on your ideas, and
2:39
they will pay you to post mostly
2:41
on social media, but of course on your blog
2:44
and other ways as well, they
2:46
will pay you to post on social media
2:48
and to become a brand partner. So we're
2:50
going to be talking about that today. We're
2:52
going to be talking about how to get
2:55
paid for posting on social media, how to
2:57
get paid for creating content, how to get
2:59
paid for really just sharing your message and
3:01
your service in the world, and not only
3:04
how to get paid, but how to actually
3:06
make it a sustainable and profitable business for
3:08
yourself. So we're going to be having an
3:10
awesome woman named Macy today
3:12
joining us here on this conversation.
3:14
And Macy has gone from, I
3:17
think last year in brand
3:19
partnerships, she made about $17,000 for the year. And
3:22
this year already, we haven't even hit October
3:24
yet, she's going to be making over six
3:26
figures. And so she was able to in
3:28
just a short amount of time in less
3:30
than a year, go from $17,000 in a
3:33
year to over $100,000 in a
3:35
year, just by learning
3:37
the right way to put herself out there
3:39
and to pitch. And so it's
3:41
going to be a really awesome conversation on
3:44
how you can do that too. Macy's
3:46
going to be sharing some strategies that have really
3:49
worked for her, and really also
3:51
sharing with you guys how she was able to
3:53
overcome some of those limitations and just some of
3:55
those things that were kind of getting in the
3:57
way that she didn't even realize were getting in
3:59
the way. until she learned the
4:01
right way to do it. So let
4:03
me see if I can find Ms.
4:05
Macy. Hi. Hello.
4:09
I was just telling everybody that we are talking
4:11
today about how to make money by
4:13
creating content and sharing that content
4:15
online. So be it social media,
4:18
your blog, someone who,
4:20
anyone really, if you are someone
4:22
who wants to partner with brands,
4:24
start building a true and authentic
4:27
relationship with brands, become a really
4:29
amazing partner for someone, it can be
4:31
very profitable and mutually beneficial. So we're gonna
4:33
be talking about that today and how Macy's
4:36
been able to do that. So Macy, if
4:38
you wanna share a little bit about, obviously
4:40
you're a content creator, but a little bit
4:42
about what you do and then how you've
4:45
been able to quickly and easily start monetizing
4:47
and making money off of the content that
4:49
you create. Yeah, of course.
4:51
So basically I started September of 2018
4:54
and I started everything as a blog. And
4:56
basically with my blog, I just told my
4:59
story because of a very interesting unconventional story
5:01
of my life about getting pregnant as a
5:03
teenager and then having someone that I
5:05
loved pass away and kind of going through a bunch
5:07
of trials. And from there, it kind of turned, I
5:09
wasn't looking to become an influencer, but that's kind of
5:11
what it turned into. And I found a lot of
5:13
women coming to me for advice and different things like that.
5:15
And then I was like, okay, I can kind of
5:17
like to make this a job maybe, but like, I
5:20
wasn't, you know, I
5:23
was a little concerned about how I would make money inside
5:25
a different niche. I was like, what even is my niche?
5:27
I was just very confused in the beginning. And then I
5:29
found you, Julie, and I was listening to your podcast every
5:31
day, every episode. And I was able to start getting like
5:34
more of a framework of what I wanted to do and
5:36
how I could do it. And so
5:38
I even think I got my first brand
5:40
deal before I
5:42
joined Pidget Perfect, but it was, I think when
5:44
I only had like 4,000 followers, maybe
5:47
less than that, maybe 3,000, I
5:49
had a decent engagement rate, but I got my first brand deal
5:51
and I was like, okay, so we can actually
5:53
make money doing this. So it wasn't like, it
5:55
was hard to get the first thing and get my mindset
5:58
right. And that was always one of my biggest obstacles. was
6:00
like, how do I make money from
6:02
this? Because I'm doing something that I've never seen anyone
6:04
do. And so that was always my biggest hurdle
6:07
I had to get over. And then once I
6:09
got over that, I was like, I can do like whatever I want. I
6:11
don't have to be super, super specific. And
6:14
so I was able to kind of start there
6:16
and grow my following on social
6:18
media. And eventually now I've
6:20
been doing super well, or like I, Julie
6:22
said, we're getting close to six figures. We'll
6:24
probably go over that this year. And last
6:26
year was under 20. So yeah, things have been
6:28
doing really well. Well, I
6:31
would love to dive into this. And for anyone that's here,
6:33
you have questions, please. There's a little question mark at
6:35
the bottom. So just add your questions in there because
6:37
me and Macy would be happy to answer those during
6:40
this conversation. But the first question I have for you,
6:42
Macy, is that you said that like, you first kind
6:44
of had to figure out like how
6:46
to make money and get over some mindset
6:48
steps. So how did you actually do that?
6:50
How did you go from not making money
6:53
to actually getting that first brand deal? So
6:56
I would say a lot of it was a
6:58
grind. So that really, in my mind, I was
7:00
like, I have to have 10,000 followers to get
7:02
a brand deal, which I know I realized it
7:05
wasn't true. Because a lot of times brands do,
7:07
they're looking for quality content. Like they want content
7:09
to use on their channels. So beyond just having
7:11
a amount of followers, like they are looking for
7:13
content that's good to post on their social medias
7:15
and like on their websites and different things like
7:17
that, which I didn't realize back then. So that's
7:19
one thing. And then I'd also say, I
7:22
basically just had to tell myself that like,
7:24
I had like the best following and just
7:26
kind of hype myself up and be like,
7:28
I have 5,000 followers, but they're so loyal.
7:30
And so I felt like my influence
7:32
was super strong enough to where a brand should want to
7:34
work with me. And I also kind of stuck to my
7:36
gun for like, I'm not going to do this for free.
7:38
And so I kind of like want to make it more
7:40
of a business mindset rather than being like, I want this
7:42
to create this business because like, it's something
7:45
for free. And so I was just kind of like,
7:47
of course, you have to take free stuff in the
7:49
beginning, some things, but I was also
7:51
super specific of who I worked with. And
7:53
I always worked with someone that aligned with my brand and
7:55
not like something I would actually use is that I thought
7:57
if I wouldn't use it, why would I come up with
7:59
it? I want to create trust with my
8:02
audience and my followers can't trust me that
8:04
I'm not going to have a high engaged audience. Like
8:06
I'm not going to grow. So that was always a
8:08
big thing for me more than making money. It was first
8:10
of all building that community. And then once I had that
8:12
community, then I was able to easier make money and it
8:14
makes things more authentic. Just popping
8:16
in real quick to let you know about
8:19

paid brand deals from the content that
8:48

8:53
creation and content strategy your full time

9:01

9:11

9:13
you are. Again, that's
9:15
pitchitperfect.net slash masterclass to get all
9:18
the details. So
9:20
let's talk about a little bit of the
9:22
strategies. So we got to meet last year
9:24
because you joined by pitchitperfect
9:26
program which is a program that teaches
9:28
people how to do exactly this how
9:31
to make money through brand
9:33
partnerships through content creation through working with
9:35
companies. So walk us through how you
9:37
how you got into that. What was
9:40
the process like for you and then
9:42
how fast did it work for you.
9:45
Yeah. When you earn the right way to
9:47
pitch you got the templates and you started to learn
9:49
some of these strategies. Yeah. So
9:52
once I dived in I would say it was
9:54
it was really reassuring. I think for me the
9:57
email templates was the best thing because for me
9:59
I was always. nervous like how am I doing
10:01
this email that too long too short am I providing
10:04
enough value are they gonna see how valuable I am from
10:06
this email I feel like before Pichit perfect I wasn't providing
10:08
that I feel like I got a lot of friends
10:11
who weren't responding it was kind of
10:13
frustrating and a little bit like like
10:15
I don't know it's just here to me
10:17
from wanting to do more sometimes so then
10:19
once I thought did Pichit perfect and I
10:21
realized okay what are my strengths and like how
10:24
am I gonna showcase the best parts of me
10:26
in this email and make it engaging enough for
10:28
them to want to respond and so I kind
10:30
of use those templates and kind of
10:33
made my own version to make it more me
10:35
and then every time I feel
10:37
like I got a response I mean there's maybe a couple
10:39
times where it didn't work but even back when I had I
10:41
was pregnant I had like 12,000 followers
10:43
that's like I really want a stroller and
10:45
like that's like my one thing I was like I
10:48
want to get a stroller for free and all these
10:50
things and so I pitched a brand and like it
10:52
took some work like it took some work it took
10:54
like three emails and they finally were like okay
10:57
like we may want to work together and I had
10:59
to kind of keep like keep going at it and
11:01
I got that deal and I was so happy because
11:03
I was like wow like this really works and like
11:06
that and then another one I where I turned
11:08
a deal that was unpaid into a paid
11:11
collaboration kind of using the same framework for
11:13
Pichit perfect and like learning how to
11:15
turn it to make it more advantageous for you
11:17
and so I was kind of trying to like
11:20
flip it like I feel like hey like we don't
11:23
you don't have a hundred thousand Instagram some there's a
11:25
brand that did that to me and I was
11:27
like well I may not have a hundred thousand
11:29
Instagram but I'm getting enough engagement where it's beneficial
11:31
for you and I also then I play into
11:33
like I also have a tick-tock platform and I
11:35
have this many followers about something of interest and
11:38
so you kind of say
11:40
no to
11:42
kind of like figure out a way to get them to yes
11:44
and I like to just practice with super helpful and
11:46
more than anything I would say it really
11:49
helped me with confidence and I say
11:51
that because it was really reassuring being in the
11:53
group with other women who are going to the same things
11:56
and like also finding my worth like I
11:58
saw another girl who had this thing on the phone smaller
12:00
than me but she was charging like twice the amount and
12:02
getting these big deals and I was like why am I
12:04
not doing that? Like I need to charge more and so
12:06
I think it really helped me like learn my value and
12:08
like what I can charge and it really
12:10
just helped me like increase profits like very
12:12
steady. But what you were saying before
12:14
I got my first deal like seriously
12:16
I don't know like a week after doing Pichit Perfect
12:19
and like I made my money back instantly
12:21
basically. When I
12:23
was up for those that are watching this that don't know
12:25
what it is in your own words what is Pichit Perfect
12:28
and how has it helped you make money and
12:30
who are these other people? Like I saw this
12:32
person that had less dollars like who are these other people
12:34
in the program that also helped me make less money?
12:36
Yeah so there's like so many amazing women
12:39
in the program who have ranges from like
12:41
a smaller following like I would say like
12:43
even a thousand to like fifty
12:45
to a hundred and there's other women who
12:47
are basically looking to do the same thing
12:49
you are which is get brand deals and
12:52
get paid for your work even if you
12:54
just wanted to create content giving pace about
12:56
content. And so yeah
12:58
basically like the group is amazing
13:00
these are different women who are going through the same things you
13:02
are which I love it's like hey what should I turn this
13:04
brand? If this brand is asking for this is this normal? And
13:06
there's all these questions that you have that I feel like you're
13:08
always in the dark with and it's super nice to be in
13:10
Pichit Perfect for that reason. But overall Pichit
13:13
Perfect is a way to land
13:15
brand deals and get paid for your work and
13:17
not just be having to create content for free
13:19
and so getting paid for what you deserve is
13:21
what it is and it's super nice because it
13:23
works. Awesome
13:25
and let's see how has it helped how
13:28
so you found the program you decided to
13:30
invest in it we know that you got
13:32
your money back really quickly how else has
13:34
it helped you because you even said last
13:36
year you made about seventeen thousand dollars and
13:38
how much were you making before you joined
13:40
Pichit Perfect? So
13:44
I don't know I'm not a lot like
13:46
I want to say like I maybe need
13:48
like five thousand maybe three like I don't
13:50
even know if I even I
13:53
can't even tell you like it was nothing
13:55
nothing notable that's for sure so before
13:57
Pichit Perfect so we're not
13:59
going to go. And then I was hesitant to invest. I'm
14:01
like, I don't want to like spend money on
14:04
that. Like, is it going to work? Like you
14:06
always have these doubts and stuff. And
14:08
then I was listening to other testimonials. And I
14:10
was like, why would I not try it? Like
14:12
I'm all about investing in myself. And like, if
14:14
I think I'm worth it, you invest. So you're
14:16
not going to go all in and you won't
14:18
invest. But if you want to go all in
14:20
and make money and become like an influencer, a
14:22
blogger, someone, like a way to make money,
14:24
this is how you do it. And
14:27
so you weren't really making a lot of
14:29
money. And then you were like, OK, I'm
14:31
going to invest in this program. Check it
14:33
out. Like learn these new strategies. Use these
14:35
templates. Meet these other women. And then you
14:37
made $17,000 last year. And then you're making
14:40
almost six figures this year. So like how
14:42
were you able to grow to
14:44
make that much money that fast using
14:47
Pigeot Perfect? So
14:50
I would say it always
14:53
goes back to like knowing my worth. And so for
14:55
me, I'm like, now I know. Like how much I
14:57
can charge. Now I know how much I should be
14:59
charging for video rights. Like I
15:01
should be charging this amount and not giving
15:03
away for free. So certain things like that
15:05
that I've learned in the group really helped
15:07
me make the money. So doing these high
15:10
paying brand deals that are
15:13
like five figure deals. And so getting those deals a lot
15:15
of times too is knowing my worth and knowing how much
15:17
I can charge. And Pigeot Perfect should help me with that.
15:20
Realizing, yes, I can charge X amount. And like
15:23
seeing people or brands like
15:25
seeking the rights and stuff like that, and
15:27
I'm like, no, you're going to pay me
15:29
for that. So figuring that out. And what
15:31
I've realized too, working with brands, is that
15:34
brands will pay. And they act
15:36
like, I think we think in our minds that they
15:38
won't pay. But brands will pay you money.
15:41
They have that budget. And they just want to see
15:43
what they can get out of you that I've realized.
15:46
So even when I pitched to, I realized, OK, I
15:48
can probably charge more. And they'll probably land on what
15:50
I want. And so that's kind of what I do.
15:52
And I think too, if you charge more, they're like,
15:55
wow, they have value. Whereas if you undercharge too,
15:57
then they think of you as someone not as
15:59
legit. if that makes sense. Well,
16:02
and we have a really good question from Kelsey
16:04
Marie, Kelsey Marie 1-1-2-Q, we've kind
16:06
of been answering this, but we've also just
16:08
touched on it too, that a lot of times people,
16:10
it's not that they don't know how much to charge,
16:12
but they're afraid that they don't know how much to
16:14
charge, and they're afraid that like, if I throw this
16:17
number out, it's gonna scare the brand, they're gonna go
16:19
away and I'm gonna miss the deal. And so they
16:21
end up grossly undercharging, or they end up not charging
16:23
at all, and then they do a bunch of pay,
16:25
like free work, basically. And
16:28
they don't have the right strategy in place to
16:30
understand like, when is the right time to actually
16:32
do free work, when it's time to like build
16:34
the relationship and get that going. So
16:36
Kelsey asked, how did you know how
16:39
much to charge for brand deals when you
16:41
had a lower following? And I think that you mentioned before, a
16:43
lot of that you learned just being inside the
16:45
Pigeon Perfect community, and having
16:47
the other group share what they're
16:49
charging. Yes, on one number. And
16:51
then we talk about it in the group too, but how did
16:54
you, how were you able to kind of
16:56
navigate that once you got in the program? Yeah,
16:59
so I think I would just ask, when
17:01
I was in the Facebook group, I'd say,
17:03
hey, how much like YouTube was the charge
17:06
for like this amount of followers, this engagement
17:08
rate, like this many story views for a
17:10
post, or like an Instagram, a sponsored story. And
17:12
now I'd get other people's views, like what they're
17:14
charging or what they think they would charge. And
17:16
so I was telling them like a base range
17:18
of what I would think. I'd also take into
17:20
account like, how many hours is this gonna take
17:22
for me to get done? Is it gonna take
17:25
like an hour? Is
17:27
it gonna be like three hours? Am I gonna shoot it myself? Am
17:29
I gonna get help? Taking into account that, because
17:31
not only is it like you're charging for the content, but
17:33
you're charging for the amount of hours you put in. And
17:35
I don't think I realized at the beginning, I would kind
17:37
of be like, oh, it's fine. Like I can give them
17:39
the rights. Like I'm just gonna, I'm happy that I'm giving
17:41
them money to begin with. But would you
17:44
realize that brands will pay you, is what I realized.
17:46
Like I, no matter what, if a brand gives me
17:48
a rate, even if it's what I want, I will
17:50
still come back and be like, oh, I would love
17:52
to just like put it here. And
17:54
they will. 95% of the time
17:56
they will. So I think if you
17:58
realize your worth, it really shows. if you have
18:00
your confidence and you're pitching these brands and they
18:02
will come back and they will give you the
18:05
rate you want. And so I think having a low following,
18:07
you still have to realize that you're providing these
18:10
brands content that they need in order to have
18:12
a good Instagram to show
18:15
their audience that, hey, we're working with these
18:17
girls and they love this product. That's also
18:19
beneficial for them even just getting those photos
18:21
of those videos. As

21:13
I am all about habits and routines and
21:15
goals for the new year, let's talk about
21:17
healthy eating. Now obviously this is a hot
21:19
topic for so many of us right now
21:21
because I know that so many people are
21:23
looking to revamp their eating habits in the
21:25
new year, but I think so often we
21:27
fall short because of a few things. One,
21:29
it can be really time-consuming to cook fresh
21:31
meals every day, especially as a parent. Two,
21:33
it can be time-consuming and difficult to prepare
21:35
and go to the grocery store and just
21:37
have all the ingredients that we need for
21:39
the week. And so if you're anything like
21:42
me, what tends to happen is that we
21:44
fall back on old habits of just ordering
21:46
out all of our meals or snacking around
21:48
meals or just grabbing whatever we find in
21:50
the pantry and not really giving our bodies
21:52
the nourishment that we need. But A
21:55
really simple solution that I have found for
21:57
the new year is HelloFresh. Whether you want
21:59
to save money, eat better, or stress less,
22:02
HelloFresh is here to help you do
22:04
all three. Imagine having farm fresh
22:06

22:34
out their lineup of 15 minute recipes, which
22:37
are amazing. These are great for those nights
22:39
when you're just trying to catch up on
22:41
all the duties and you just need a
22:43
healthy but quick option. I made a really
22:46
good chicken dish the other night and they
22:48
also have some good vegan options. My husband
22:50
is also gluten free. So they have something
22:52
for everybody, regardless of what your dietary preferences
22:55
may be. And this is huge for so
22:57
many of us as I know. Now here
22:59
is the big news. HelloFresh understands
23:01
the breakfast game and how important
23:03
getting protein first thing in the

23:20
and getting that protein fixed in
23:22
the morning and the fact that
23:24

23:26
about it just made HelloFresh a
23:28
no brainer for me this year.
23:30

23:58

24:01

24:03
And I know we have an entire
24:05
module dedicated to negotiation inside Pigeon Perfect
24:07
where we talk a lot
24:10
about, you know, various circumstances that
24:12
can happen, gifted offer, paid offer,
24:14
you want more and how do you kind
24:16
of negotiate to meet people in the middle
24:19
and to make it a mutual beneficial win-win
24:21
for everyone that, you know, you're getting paid,
24:23
you're growing exposure, you're growing impact, the brand's
24:25
growing awareness, the brand's selling their products. You
24:28
know, that's really, you know, their goal at
24:30
the end of the day, they want to
24:32
increase revenue and increase brand recognition and that's
24:35
why they work with influencers and content creators
24:37
in the first place to help them do
24:39
that. So I love that question.
24:41
Great question, Kelsey. We
24:43
have another question here from Rosh in
24:46
Kaur. How do brands
24:48
contact you and how do you know
24:54
whom to reach out if you are doing it?
24:56
So Pigeon Perfect, we talk a lot about like,
24:59
if a brand contacts you, that's just like
25:01
a carry on top win. It's really about
25:03
you going out and contacting brands.
25:06
And so do you want to share a little bit about, and
25:08
I think a lot of people have this misconception that
25:11
they think like, well, I'll
25:13
be ready to work with brands once a brand
25:15
contacts me or once they find me, then I'll
25:17
be ready to work with brands. And it's like,
25:20
no, you're ready to work with brands the
25:22
day that you realize that it's your job to go
25:24
and contact them. And of course you have to learn
25:26
the right way to do that. So if you could
25:28
share a little bit about your experience with that.
25:31
Yeah, so I think that was one of another hard
25:33
thing for me actually, was how do I get in
25:35
contact with these people? Like it was always so confusing
25:37
to me. I'm like, how do people get like brand
25:40
email addresses? And what I've realized too, it's as simple
25:42
as DMing them
25:44
on Instagram, just being like, hey, I
25:46
love this product and I use it
25:48
all the time. I would love to work together. Is
25:50
there someone I can reach out to an email address?
25:52
I can reach out to to talk about it stuff
25:55
like that. So simple and like 95% of
25:57
the time they give it to you. There's every one.
26:00
off chance where they're like, oh, we're not doing
26:02
collaboration. Whatever. Not a big deal. So you just
26:04
DM them on Instagram. I used to sometimes find
26:06
people in LinkedIn, but I found Instagram was my
26:08
biggest tool, which I didn't even realize. Um,
26:11
additionally, if you have other friends who
26:13
are doing influencers stuff, working in France,
26:15
say, Hey, um, I would love to
26:17
work with this contact that you worked with. Like, what can
26:19
we trace contacts? Or if you have zero contact at the
26:21
moment, just be like, Hey, are you willing to take contacts?
26:24
Like in exchange, I can help you, uh, do photos
26:26
or do this or do that. You kind of
26:28
just have to really be proactive. And I always
26:30
thought it was so hard. I'm like, how did
26:32
they get this contact? How did it do this?
26:35
And literally so simple. I just DM them on
26:37
Instagram is what I realized. That's where I've gotten
26:39
all of mine. I worked with Nuna, the stroller
26:41
company I was talking about earlier. I wanted a
26:43
stroller. I just DM them an Instagram, got the
26:45
email address. It took some time, but it worked.
26:47
So I think it's as simple as doing
26:49
that. Awesome.
26:51
Great response. Um, she
26:54
also asked, um, how do
26:56
you join pitch pitch at perfect, which
26:58
may be, you can, I'm sure Macy would be
27:01
more than happy if you guys want to pull it
27:03
into her DMS and she can share how to
27:06
do that. She is one of our incredible referral
27:08
partners and she can walk you through just more
27:11
of her own experience, how she's been able to
27:13
do it, how you can do it too. Um,
27:15
and really support you in any of that. So
27:17
I would recommend you guys just popping into Macy's
27:19
DM at the end of this conversation and she'd
27:21
be happy to send you over
27:23
some information. Yeah. I'd be more than happy
27:25
to answer any questions you have because like I said, I
27:27
had them all in the beginning and I was like, does
27:30
it really work? Like all these different things and like,
27:32
yeah, but just feel free to DM me. I'd be more
27:34
than happy to talk to any of you and share about
27:36
my experience even further.
27:38
Awesome. Thank you, Macy. Okay. Great question
27:41
from Madeline creative. She says, do you
27:43
feel like you needed brand deals that
27:45
you didn't make money from at first
27:48
in order to showcase previous,
27:52
wait, where did that go? I've lost it.
27:55
Um, in order to showcase priest, so this is
27:57
a great question. Um, Madeline,
28:00
if I'm correct, you're basically saying, did you feel
28:02
like that you needed to do free
28:06
brand deals first in order to showcase
28:08
your worth? I'll
28:11
start with this and Macy, I would love your perspective.
28:13
I always say, I think it depends. I think it
28:15
depends on the brand, I think it depends on their
28:17
goals. That's why we have in module one of Pidget
28:19
Perfect, it is basically setting
28:21
the foundation of, how
28:23
do you properly research a brand so
28:26
you know what it is that they're looking for? What kind
28:28
of questions are you asking the brand when
28:30
you're pitching them so you know how
28:33
to curate your pitch and you know how to
28:35
set it up. Because Madeline, you are correct, there
28:37
are gonna be some brands out there, they're gonna
28:39
wanna make sure that you can actually convert for
28:41
them. So they're not going to be wanting to
28:43
pay you hundreds or
28:45
thousands or tens of thousands of dollars if
28:47
you don't convert. So it's your job as
28:49
the content creator to show them, yes, I
28:52
can actually help you convert revenue,
28:54
I can sell for you, or I can
28:56
help you build a brand awareness and brand
28:58
recognition. So this is when I think that
29:00
a lot of good affiliate partnerships can
29:02
happen if a brand is offering you
29:04
commission. That in turn, you are
29:06
getting paid, they're just really wanting to see how
29:09
well do you do this? And I think that
29:11
if it's a brand that you really love, I
29:13
think absolutely being like, hey, let me show you
29:15
what I can do, let me post some stuff,
29:17
really make this a win for you. And I
29:20
think that that also sets you up, Madeline, to
29:22
actually negotiate for more pay after
29:24
you have showed them how amazing you are at
29:26
creating content and how much you helped them sell
29:28
or get the word out. Now you've got a
29:30
lot involved in your court to be able to
29:33
go like, okay, so you've seen what I can
29:35
do for free, now let's pony
29:37
up and let's make this a legitimate thing. And it
29:39
could also probably lead to a longer term partnership as
29:41
well. Maciej, I would love to know
29:43
your thoughts. Yeah, I was gonna say,
29:45
I totally agree with that. I think
29:47
when you're first starting, you for sure have to
29:49
do some stuff for free. I know I did
29:52
my first couple of deals for free. I
29:54
think one of them was like, I got a free pair of boots
29:56
just to send them photos. I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
29:58
And so like, I think you kind of
30:01
have to start doing stuff to also show brands. Like
30:03
I've worked with people before, because if you haven't worked
30:05
with anyone, they're like, well, like, why would we pay
30:07
you if you have no experience working with brands? So
30:09
I think you do have to have some things under
30:11
your belt to showcase to other brands. And I think
30:13
it also creates credibility for you. And
30:16
then like Julie said, like, after you do that, he's like, hey, let
30:18
me show that I can really do. And I
30:20
guess I have an example for this. I worked with Owlette
30:23
and I think they didn't want to pay me at
30:25
first because I have 100 K on Instagram. And
30:27
then so I moved into TikTok where at the time I had
30:29
like 200,000. And
30:31
so I said, hey, like, I'll do this on TikTok for
30:33
you. I charged them a rate. They took
30:35
it. Obviously, I wanted more eventually. I don't think
30:37
I charged for rights at that time. So
30:40
it's like, I'm just happy to get this money. And
30:43
then I did the video for them and
30:45
it went like mega viral and it hit
30:47
like 11 million views on TikTok. And so
30:49
after that, we've had the best relationships. Like,
30:51
wow, like they know that like I will
30:53
convert every time I post to them. I'm
30:55
going to create content that works super well
30:57
for my audience and for other
31:00
people who like this kind of content. So I
31:02
think it's really great too. If you just get
31:04
that contact and like for me, like I love
31:06
it. That's a big brand for me. Like I
31:08
love Owlette. So I was like a huge brand. I'm
31:10
happy to do it at this rate. And then like after that,
31:12
I was like, hey, I didn't want to set out more deals
31:14
at that same rate. And I was like,
31:16
oh, actually, like I would love to push. And so then I had the
31:19
room to negotiate because I showed like what
31:21
my worth was and how I could convert
31:23
for them. So like Julie said, I would
31:25
say it's great to do stuff for maybe
31:27
a little bit lower for the first time
31:29
to then create that relationship because that,
31:32
for example, is one brand I have a relationship that have
31:34
ongoing deals now, which is a huge part of my income
31:37
during the year. So and
31:39
that's why it's so important and it's in module
31:41
four, such a perfect that we talk about like
31:43
when is that moment to then switch gears and
31:45
to like start asking to get paid and then
31:48
like how do you do that and how do
31:50
you bump it up? And it really does start
31:52
with the confidence and then having the actual
31:55
expertise and the actual credit credibility staff and
31:57
the data to back that up and how
31:59
you get that. that is by
32:01
getting started and creating really valuable content.
32:03
And then you've got to learn the
32:05
right way to do that moving forward
32:07
so it sustains you. Yeah.
32:10
And I was going to say too that what
32:12
I also would do with future pitches, because I
32:14
had such a successful one outlet, I'd say, hey,
32:16
do my whole field. And be like, and here
32:18
are some recent partnerships that I've had just for
32:21
your reference. And I would attach the videos that
32:23
had like 10 million, another video that I had
32:25
that had like 400,000 for a brand, just so
32:27
that they're like, oh, wow, like she does create
32:29
content that convert. So I think you can
32:31
use that in future pitches when you do have a good. Yeah,
32:34
one thing good does happen. Awesome.
32:37
We have time for I think one or
32:39
two more questions. This one from eating with
32:41
party is great. She said, how do you strategically
32:43
ask the brand for their budget range versus
32:46
you giving them your rate card first? So this is
32:48
a big thing that we talk about inside the program.
32:50
There's a whole entire lesson dedicated to it. So
32:53
I can't walk you through the whole
32:55
strategy on this Instagram live, but I can give
32:57
you the first step. And so to me, yes,
32:59
there is a strategy to it. And learning that
33:02
strategy is the key. But the first
33:04
step to that strategy is it's more in kind of
33:06
how do you strategically ask, how do you
33:08
confidently ask? And so the confidence is
33:10
the first step there. And it's really about creating
33:13
valuable content, getting it out
33:15
there, and really knowing how, I mean, it's not that
33:17
you have to have a ton of experience, but you
33:19
have to be able to have the confidence to go
33:22
in to know your worth. The first step is like,
33:24
I have to know what my value is. What is
33:26
it that I bring to the table? What
33:28
am I bringing to the table? How
33:30
can I help them either convert in
33:32
sales or pump out their brand awareness,
33:34
make their brand recognition greater? And
33:37
then that's going to allow me to ask
33:39
for what I want with more confidence. So
33:41
confidence is the first step with any of
33:43
that. I could give you all the strategy
33:45
in the world. If you don't have the confidence
33:47
to ask for what you want, the strategy is
33:49
not going to work. So the confidence is the
33:51
first step in there. And it's asking
33:54
for that. And instead of feeling fearful or
33:56
afraid that like this opportunity is going to
33:58
go away, you just give. them a rate card,
34:00
which I'll give you another
34:02
little tip. I always like strongly
34:05
oppose like never ever ever ever ever give your
34:07
rate because what you're doing is you're setting yourself
34:09
up to lose any negotiation power that you would
34:11
have had because you showed all your cards. You
34:14
said I'm willing to do X, Y, and Z
34:16
for this. You don't know maybe the brand was
34:18
like wow we were gonna pay her like four
34:20
times that but if she's willing to do it
34:22
all for that well then we'll just go with
34:25
that. So it's really about the collaborative effort of
34:27
like confidently knowing this is
34:29
my value. This is the time,
34:31
money, energy, and resources that Macey
34:33
mentioned earlier. Time is a huge factor there. This
34:35
is what it's gonna take for me to do this and
34:38
then now I have the strategy which we
34:40
teach inside the program step-by-step to learn the
34:42
message to go through and so this is
34:44
how I can ask the brand for
34:46
their range and Macey I would love to know if
34:48
you have any like stories or any feedback on that
34:50
too. Yeah I know I
34:53
would do the same thing because like I said the
34:55
worst thing ever is to give them
34:57
a price and then know that you could have
34:59
gotten more. I think it kind of eats away
35:01
inside and I think it's happened to me
35:03
a couple times in the past. So yeah
35:05
like you were saying I
35:07
think I never usually like to give a range. I
35:10
mean if I do I'll give a range. I'll never
35:12
give a rate. It's that rate because a lot of
35:14
times what you'll notice is that brands will sneak in
35:16
right into your contract. They'll sneak in other things. I
35:18
had a brand one time sneak in
35:20
like that my video had to hit a minimum
35:22
hundred thousand views in the first few days and
35:24
I was like absolutely not. So certain
35:26
things that you don't realize that's what I don't say
35:28
be very careful with these contracts that brands send you
35:30
because they will try to sneak things in that you
35:32
don't realize and so a lot of
35:34
things too with the rates is that you and you
35:36
don't want to give a rate I would say because
35:39
like like dualism they usually have a budget
35:41
to pay more and so I
35:43
would ask for their range and then if it's below
35:45
what you were thinking I would say oh like I
35:48
I was hoping to get this I wouldn't say like
35:50
that but like with confidence say oh my
35:52
minimum is this for like X Y and Z
35:54
different things that you can use but obviously if
35:56
you word it right they will pay you that
35:59
range or What I usually do is I
36:01
go above it and tell you my minimum and then I'll get the
36:03
rate I want. And so you kind of have to do that. So
36:05
then I know like hey this is her value so that she's charging
36:07
other brands so that we can pay her this.
36:09
If that makes sense. The
36:12
practice is going in and doing it and
36:14
you know and that's the big thing that
36:16
you know what's so amazing about the community
36:18
of Pidget Perfect is that Pidget Perfect has
36:20
been around since 2016. My background and why
36:22
I teach this I was a publicist for
36:24
over 15 years. I have
36:26
a really strong PR and marketing background.
36:28
I have been pitching since
36:31
2007 before social media even really existed
36:33
minus I think Facebook and maybe Twitter
36:35
was around at the time. But what
36:39
we teach it doesn't matter if there's new
36:41
platforms that come and go. It's the
36:43
foundation that you need to confidently
36:46
get what you want and ask for what
36:48
you want. And we have this incredible community
36:50
and we have years and we have over
36:52
five thousand students that have now gone through
36:54
this program that you know are able to
36:56
be there to support you to share
36:58
their examples there how they've been able
37:00
to make it work. Of course my
37:03
years of experience is in there. It's
37:05
my entire Pidget Profit methodology that I
37:07
have mastered over the last like 15
37:09
years which really kind of dates me.
37:11
But what I am saying
37:13
is that it really does work and if it
37:16
didn't there wouldn't have been five thousand plus students
37:18
that have gone through it. It wouldn't still be
37:20
here after only six years. And so I would
37:22
say that the key to this is getting started
37:24
whether you learn it from me or you learn
37:27
it from people like Macy you just have to
37:29
learn the right way to do this and you
37:31
have to get started today because there's there's so
37:33
much money and opportunity that you're missing out on
37:35
today because you keep telling yourself that you're not
37:37
ready. You don't have enough followers. You you've tried
37:39
it before and it doesn't work. Whatever it is
37:41
that you're telling yourself the reason why it's not
37:43
working for you today is because you haven't learned
37:45
the right way to do it. And that's okay.
37:47
There's no shame in that. I mean if you
37:50
don't know the right way to swim you're probably
37:52
not going to be able to swim without drowning.
37:54
If you don't know the right way to drive a car you're
37:56
probably not going to be able to drive it without getting in
37:58
a car accident. So like we all have to learn. the
38:00
right way to do something in order to be
38:02
successful at it. And so with that said, Macy,
38:04
I would love for you to share a little
38:06
bit more. And I know that you offered to
38:08
answer any questions that people have. So that's amazing.
38:10
Definitely, DM Macy, and she can share some things with
38:13
you. But anything else that you just want
38:15
to share about once you learn the right way to
38:17
do this, how did it change your life? How did
38:19
it change the way that you work?
38:21
How did it change you
38:24
as a mom? How did it really give you
38:26
the freedom and everything that you've been wanting in
38:28
life? Yeah, so that's actually
38:30
like the best question because it has
38:33
given me so much more freedom. Like
38:35
this year, I'm building a house, it
38:37
wouldn't be possible without making the money
38:39
I have through picture perfect and pitching
38:41
brands. And also I'm able to
38:43
now like put my full time job, I'm still
38:45
in a full time job, I'm getting the house
38:47
and have to have the loan, but I'm able
38:49
to easily put my full time job. So it's
38:52
giving me financial freedom, freedom to spend more time
38:54
with my family. So overall,
38:56
it's been like a huge blessing because I know how to
38:58
pitch brands, I know my worth, I know how to get
39:00
what I want, I know how to get paid for my
39:03
work. And so I think that the biggest thing is getting
39:05
paid for your work. And these
39:07
misconceptions of being have enough followers,
39:09
brands need photos, they need content, they
39:11
need those different things, they're going to pay a
39:13
photographer if they don't pay you. So you
39:15
need to know your worth and realize that even if
39:18
you have two followers, you can still get paid for
39:20
beautiful pictures and different things and just build your portfolio
39:22
that way. So it's a great program. So feel free
39:24
to DM me if you have any questions. Awesome.
39:27
Well, thank you, Macy, so much for being here
39:30
today and just sharing your experience, offering a ton
39:32
of tips and tricks and
39:34
feedback. And for those that had questions,
39:36
thank you so much for submitting those, a lot
39:38
of really great questions in there. And a lot
39:40
of which we cover today and we cover in
39:42
more detail in how to program. So like Macy said,
39:44
if you want to really kind of take
39:46
this to the next level, if you want to stop
39:48
beating your head against the wall, trying to like figure
39:51
it out by yourself, if you want to save yourself
39:53
some headaches and some years
39:55
and really start making money really quickly
39:57
and easily, just message Macy and she
39:59
will. Let you know how to do
40:01
that and answer any questions that you have. So
40:03
thanks everybody for being here. We appreciate it. See
