Celebrating twenty five years of Jaguar's

0:04

football. He thirty nine yards.

0:07

It's thirty enough that he just made eight

0:09

people, miss Ryan. It

0:15

is Wednesday, November. This

0:18

is Jaguars Happy Hour.

0:22

Jaguars Happy Hours brought to you by the Fields

0:24

out Food and now a

0:26

guy who believes the five basic food

0:29

groups are meat, gravy,

0:31

pie, bourbon, and meat. J.

0:35

P. Shadrick. And

0:38

that's not even on Thanksgiving, that's

0:40

every other day. Welcome in Jaguars

0:43

Happy Happy Happy Hour JP.

0:46

Twice too, by the way, that's John Osier.

0:49

Pie could have been in there twice too, who

0:52

says it wasn't. We've

0:55

got quite a program for you today.

0:57

Here's what's coming up. Tom Coughley

1:00

speaks. It's the biggest

1:02

news of the day around here. He hasn't spoken

1:04

since the NFL Draft on the record. We'll

1:07

hear what coach Coughlin had to say about

1:09

this season and what lies ahead. There are

1:11

five games remaining. We heard that a time

1:14

or two. Not to ruin the sound bites

1:16

coming up Bucks Jags preview. That

1:19

is the first of the five games ahead. That's

1:21

this Sunday at t i A Bank. People here

1:24

from Todd Wash Jaguars defensive coordinator

1:26

Nick Foles, the quarterback Jimmy Luck

1:28

will be in studio for the uniform unveiling. What will

1:30

the Jaguars were after Thanksgiving? And

1:32

will they still fit after

1:35

all the food is taken down? Tomorrow

1:38

Chris Connlelly wide receiver, schedule to join

1:40

us with a mystery guest from

1:42

the locker room. There's no telling

1:44

who's gonna bring with him today. That

1:47

should be fun and

1:49

un It's just gonna be it always

1:52

is. Chris does a great job for us these wednesday

1:54

Uh, let's hear from Tom Coughlin today.

1:57

The executive vice president of football Operations

1:59

hasn't talked for a long time. He

2:02

hasn't talked during this season. In

2:04

fact, Doug Marone has been the one leading

2:07

the charge in front of the media each week,

2:09

at least a couple of times a week, if not more than

2:12

that. So why now for Tom

2:14

Coughlin. You know

2:16

my philosophy, the head coach

2:19

is the voice of the program. Okay,

2:22

I feel at this point in time that I'm

2:24

needed to speak. Doug

2:26

has come before you with his message literally

2:29

every day since the start of the season. If

2:31

I can help reinforce that message. Then

2:34

that's why I'm here. We're all in

2:36

this together. We're all battling. We

2:38

all want to win. You all want to

2:40

win. I know that. You know. Want to write about

2:42

a team that's not winning. It's not any fun.

2:45

And we're all in this thing together. That's

2:48

one bite. He was also asked a good

2:50

bit about his relationship with the Doug

2:52

Maron, did not go delve too far down

2:54

that road. Was asked about the job that

2:56

Doug Maron has done this season, as

3:00

I keep saying, we have five games to go

3:02

and then they'll be certainly will be evaluation

3:04

of every one of us, of everybody.

3:06

So that was a simple answer for Tom

3:08

Conful there and then was appealing

3:11

to fans to come down to t i a bank

3:13

Field three home games left of the five remaining

3:16

in twenty nineteen. Here's what he had for the fans

3:18

today. We need

3:20

you very badly. You

3:22

know, in my opinion, we've been on the road for three

3:25

straight weeks and it hasn't been pretty. We need

3:27

to get home. We need to get our our

3:29

whole thing going in our stadium and our support

3:31

from everyone. It's not a time

3:33

to duck your head, stick your head in the sand. It's

3:35

a we all know what the circumstances

3:38

are. But these are young men. They

3:41

they know when they're being supported and

3:43

and when some extension of love is being sent

3:46

their way, and they will respond.

3:48

So we all need to do this. There's

3:50

Tom Conflin today. Where do you begin on

3:53

this day? John? When's

3:56

time it happens? Everybody wants to pick it apart

3:59

and have reasons and motives

4:01

for it. I think it's clear that you

4:03

know you're coming home after a and

4:06

coming back to every bank field or a bank field

4:09

after a very tough three

4:11

game road trip, so you sort

4:14

of reset it. You remind

4:16

people in in a somewhat

4:18

different tones, same message,

4:21

different tone, that there's five games to go,

4:23

and that they're not evaluating

4:25

anything they were asked about. Tom was asked

4:27

about in Gok Way, and he was asked about

4:30

many things. How you evaluate this?

4:33

He was asked about his own future,

4:36

and again and again he said five

4:38

games remain, and you know that

4:40

I think was his message of Hey, the season

4:42

isn't over yet. There's still

4:45

a a a task at

4:47

hand, and there's

4:49

a temptation when you're four and seven. We

4:52

do a JP on this show. The media does that, the fans

4:54

do it. There was a tone this

4:56

week of everybody wondering what's going

4:59

to happen after the season,

5:01

future, You know all this, and

5:04

it's fair for all

5:06

of us whose job it is to be

5:08

the noise, which that's what we do. We talk

5:11

about what's going on. Well, we

5:13

respond to fans, so we

5:15

talk about what they're curious about. So

5:17

I think Tom in the big picture, was

5:20

resetting of saying, hey, there's three

5:22

games to go, or there's five games to go, there's three

5:24

at home. We still want everybody's

5:26

support, We still want this to where

5:28

the folks would be. He knows

5:31

that that's not going to stop the noise,

5:33

and he's smart enough to know there's going to be people

5:35

who don't like the message, who don't whatever.

5:39

His job is to set the tone in

5:41

this situation as he sees fit,

5:44

or help Doug as he sets

5:46

at the tone. So that's what they did. I don't

5:49

expect it to have a major impact on

5:51

who comes to the game, and I expected but

5:54

he was trying to set

5:57

the tone for a few things, and perhaps he

5:59

did. There were a few items

6:01

though that he did not delve on

6:03

too much. When asked about one of those was

6:06

Doug Maron's comments about being criticized

6:09

within the organization that was earlier this week,

6:11

he said that stays between him and

6:13

Doug and left that. He was also

6:16

asked about jale Ramsey, what could

6:18

have be done, what could he have done differently

6:20

to repair that relationship, and

6:22

he said, well, he's not gonna talk about Jalen. He's a member

6:24

of another team. And then Unique

6:27

and Gotway's possible contract extension.

6:30

He said, there's five games to go, and and here's

6:32

exactly what he said in fact about

6:34

Unique and Gottway. We have five

6:37

games to play and everyone has a

6:39

lot to prove. So that was as simple

6:41

of an answer as he had on some those

6:44

those topics were kind of out there

6:46

still and had not been touched by

6:48

that level of executive And

6:51

you know, again, when

6:53

Tom speaks, it's a it's

6:56

a touchstone moment that everybody

6:58

who covers the team and everybody talks out on Twitter

7:00

will refer back to. And that's what this sort

7:02

of thing has become in the day

7:04

and age of this

7:07

level of media coverage, meaning Twitter and

7:10

responding to things as they're said as

7:12

their as their lives streamed. Um,

7:15

So there's been some talk I've seen about

7:17

well, he didn't come out and

7:19

say that they wanted to resign Unique.

7:22

Well, I had already sort of said that, and

7:24

I think it's given that that they want to sign Unique,

7:27

they sign at the right price that they talked about. So

7:30

I wouldn't read a whole lot into Tom

7:32

not saying

7:34

yes, we want Unique and got way back

7:37

because my guess is if you had gone

7:39

down the list and asked about any

7:41

players specifically, that was

7:43

gonna be the approach. He

7:45

wasn't going to get into any because he said later,

7:48

JP, I think you were down there.

7:50

It's all kind of a blurred um.

7:54

He said later this

7:56

is not I'm not going to get into that, and

8:00

or I think he said this isn't the time

8:02

for that, and this wouldn't be the form

8:04

for that. He's not going to address

8:07

that sort of thing in the media. So

8:10

it's more that

8:12

was my takeaway from it, not that Tom

8:14

didn't care about Unique, not that he wasn't insured

8:16

in signing Unique. It wasn't a

8:18

message to Unique. It was look, he's

8:21

not going to talk about anything like that in that forum

8:25

and do that right. So don't necessarily

8:27

think that, hey, the team doesn't like any

8:29

cankoy, because Tom Coffin wouldn't

8:32

come out and say we have to sign this guy.

8:34

I'm not gonna give away that sort of negotiation in

8:37

that environment anyway, So minimize

8:39

your panic over that

8:42

statement. It is.

8:44

It is noteworthy though that it happened

8:47

with five games to go, and he rarely,

8:50

if ever, I don't think you've spoken during

8:52

a season since he's been back here, Uh,

8:55

not to my recollection, and

8:58

now nineteen will be the first time right during

9:01

you know, and it's uh,

9:04

it's tough time. I mean you've

9:07

and again there was some a

9:09

lot made among my media brethren. Uh,

9:12

and they know who they are. Well,

9:15

he didn't give him a vote of confidence. He didn't. He

9:17

didn't support Dugg didn't. Again, I

9:20

just don't think that Tom came

9:22

in there with the idea of supporting

9:25

not supporting that It was more

9:29

a very beginning. If if you listen to the speech,

9:32

there was a little bit of a call to action. Hey,

9:34

we need support, We're

9:36

not done yet. That was the message

9:39

he wanted to get across. And you know, if you've been

9:41

around Tom, and I covered Tom in the nineties,

9:44

So you spend days sort

9:46

of just listening to him and interpreting the

9:48

way he operates. Um,

9:50

he's rightly or

9:52

wrongly not going to be

9:56

forced in a situation like that to

9:59

get off of the point that he wants to make. And

10:01

I think he came in there saying, look, I want to talk

10:03

to the fans, tell them we don't believe seasons

10:06

over with. We still need you. Um.

10:09

And beyond that, I

10:11

wouldn't read a tremendous amount in anything

10:14

he was saying. That was what he wanted

10:16

to do. Uh. Whether he

10:18

accomplished or not, it is probably

10:20

up to the event to the individual fan who

10:23

decides whether they want to hear the message. But that's

10:27

the only thing that I would say. There was a real

10:30

motivation behind again. And

10:33

I want to say that JP because

10:35

people will read into this moment

10:37

as what was he saying about

10:40

Doug? You know, what's the tea leaves say

10:42

about this or what's the tee I'm not sure

10:44

there was any tea leave to be read in that beyond

10:47

we want the fans here. Let's

10:49

move on to football, shall we? Why not

10:52

at this point? Right? So the

10:54

Jacks are Ford and seven of course they've dropped

10:57

the last three games, all division games

10:59

on the road. A lot of that has

11:01

to do with a run defense, though six ninety

11:03

nine rushing yards allowed over the last three

11:06

games. That won't get it done. A

11:08

lot of those plays are explosive plays.

11:10

According to Todd Wash we had ten last

11:12

week. We had four runs in six passes last

11:14

week. You know, in the same thing as

11:16

you know, we were in position to make a couple of plays. We didn't

11:19

make a couple of plays. Um, the one

11:21

third down, I think I put them in a bad call. Um.

11:24

You know, they surprised us with a personnel grouping,

11:26

and uh so you know it's a combination

11:28

obviously that we gotta make plays and I gotta put

11:31

them in better position. A right, A couple of things this week.

11:33

Obviously the opposition can throw it around

11:35

the yard a little bit. Jamis Winston twenty two

11:37

touchdowns a league hides one of

11:39

interceptions, but uh, near the top

11:41

of the league and passing yardage and attempts

11:43

and completions and all that, and to one

11:46

thousand yard receivers that rarely

11:48

happens in the league, Godwin and Evans,

11:51

so a different kind of feel this week, but

11:53

it's a Jaguars defense has beat up a little

11:56

bit A lot of guys on the injury report that would be

11:58

frontline guys for this team. That kind

12:00

of question marks going to the Thanksgiving table tomorrow.

12:03

So that equation is not a good one,

12:05

at least on paper. I know what to tell you, j V.

12:07

It's tough. I mean on defense

12:10

right now, this is a tough situation. And

12:12

I'm not trying to be overly snyder or

12:15

sarcastic. Yeah, I mean

12:17

it's it's uh. I

12:19

don't know that they have an available

12:22

solution to getting the run defense fixed,

12:24

because I don't know that without Marcel Darius

12:27

on the Darius on the inside, that

12:29

there is enough um

12:32

energy, weight talent

12:34

on the interior of the defense to

12:37

slow down what's going on. I'm also

12:39

not sure that the ends as

12:41

as much as we all respect

12:43

what Clays Campbell's all about and what unique

12:46

and got Way is in terms of rushing the past or

12:49

I don't know. Those two guys right now are playing

12:51

at a high level against the run. So I don't know where you stop

12:53

that. I don't know what the solution there is, and

12:55

obviously whatever they're

12:58

trying to do in terms of getting gaps

13:00

stopped. Uh.

13:03

Teams are of the correct

13:05

belief right now that if they run enough of this

13:07

defense, somebody's gonna jump out of a gap and they're gonna be able

13:09

to gouget. And it's happened happen Tavin

13:11

Bryan last week in the seventy four yard run.

13:15

Until they've proved they stopped

13:17

that, I can't believe they're going to stop

13:19

that, right, I mean, is that think? So what

13:21

you would think that this Tampa offense

13:23

with arians running the show there, they want to throw

13:25

it around. That's what they've done all year. But do they

13:28

switch that up this week? Oh? I think they'll switch

13:30

it up And now they're really good news JP.

13:33

I don't know that we know right now what

13:35

the Jaguars secondary is. And

13:37

and you know a j boy A is

13:40

playing a very

13:42

good brand of cornerback uh

13:45

for the situation meaning he's been thrown over. Okay,

13:48

now you're gonna be a one. Uh. So

13:51

I think you need a good job and on the times he's been asked

13:53

to be that guy. When you've got two receivers

13:56

coming in who are both capable and

13:58

you're down Ronnie Harris and it looks like with

14:00

a concussion, you're already you're already

14:03

down to Trey Herndon h

14:05

and not Jalen Ramsey. So it's,

14:08

uh,

14:10

we don't know for the last month

14:13

really if the secondary

14:15

is playing well or not because they haven't been tested,

14:17

because they haven't had to be tested. Well, They're

14:19

gonna get tested on Sunday. And

14:22

the hope, you would think is this

14:25

is still a decent pass rushing team.

14:27

It's still a team that can pressure

14:30

you into mistakes. And Jamis Winston

14:32

is a guy who has made mistakes, so

14:36

somewhere in that form but I can't tell you what the percentages

14:38

are that's going to play out. But there's a formula in there

14:41

for this team to get some turnovers and

14:43

to get up ah,

14:46

and if you get up, you never know what's

14:48

going happens. I think that's the hope, is that

14:51

maybe the Bucks weakness and

14:54

they're passing games sort of weakness Santa strength. It's

14:56

a weird passing game, meaning Jameis

14:58

thowes for a lot of yards by a touchdown to aniled

15:01

interceptions. Maybe this is

15:03

a Sunday where that's a weakness in the Jaguars

15:05

can take advantage of it with the strength

15:07

that they have left defensively, which is pressure in

15:09

the quarterback. Um,

15:12

that's my strand that I'm holding onto for life.

15:15

That's the defensive side. But if

15:17

they can get a few extra possessions

15:19

for the offense right, then it's up to the

15:21

offense to figure out how to find some consistency

15:24

and get down the field and get in the end

15:26

zone, especially early in the game. We

15:28

heard from the quarterback this week, Nick Foles.

15:31

Everybody wants to point fingers, But when

15:33

you point fingers, three fingers come back

15:36

towards you. Just because you're losing, just because you're struggling,

15:38

doesn't mean you have a bad culture. A culture

15:41

built great teams are built

15:43

in times like this if you handle it the appropriate

15:45

way, and that's sticking together and continue

15:48

to move forward and not pointing

15:50

fingers. But that's very hard to do and

15:53

anything we do in any organization, in

15:55

any sport, because everyone always wants

15:57

to point fingers and to flect blame. But we all

15:59

have ownership and who we are right now, we all are

16:01

have ownership in the identity of the team at this

16:03

moment, but we also have the opportunity

16:05

as people to change who we are. And

16:08

that doesn't happen overnight. It happens a

16:10

little bit at a time, and a little bit

16:12

of the time left is the five games this season

16:14

to try to get things right, and he's taking the positive

16:16

approach. That's Nick Foles and and that's who he

16:19

is, and that's what's left with this team is

16:21

to try to figure things out. Now. We didn't hear much today

16:23

from John d Filippo, offensive coordinator. He

16:25

didn't have a lot to say today. A short

16:28

press conference for him today. But

16:30

they've got to figure this thing out. And they had some momentum

16:32

early last week. They had the ten play drive

16:34

to start the game. The holding cost all

16:37

that, they had another drive going, another holding

16:39

cost to all that. So they had some

16:41

some mix, some success early.

16:44

They just couldn't find any paid hurt last

16:46

week. I'll go to a place that Nick

16:48

went to yesterday in the press conference, and

16:51

I'll press the best saying. I understand a lot of fans

16:53

are tired of hearing this because they're tired

16:56

of Nick's message, which is

16:58

that you know they're

17:00

in the beginning of a process and that they're trying

17:02

to find their way. Uh

17:05

So that's not an ideal situation

17:07

Week thirteen. Nobody wants to hear that. In

17:10

terms of hope for this Sunday, which

17:12

is what our topic is. Nick

17:15

did say at the end of his discussion

17:18

yesterday, they felt

17:20

like they found some things offensively,

17:23

they kept playing, they kept going at it,

17:25

and late it was what seven

17:27

to three and a a half, and they got seventeen points.

17:29

After that point, they were

17:31

mop up points and people don't notice it. Uh.

17:35

Nick seemed to have the belief that

17:37

maybe that was the start of something. So

17:40

the seventeen points and and get some

17:43

things going, Let's hope it

17:45

was. And that does

17:47

happen. Sometimes you find something in a game

17:49

and you kind of keep it going. Nobody notices

17:51

it, but over

17:54

the course of time, then you look back on and say, hey, I

17:56

think nobody noticed. That's where it started again.

17:59

I at

18:01

Owen at at Owen three in the last three

18:03

games of twenty point losses. It's hard

18:06

for us to sit here and

18:08

realistically sell the fan that

18:10

things are going well. So you're looking for spots

18:13

you can hang onto on defense, maybe

18:15

getting a couple of turnovers on offense. Perhaps

18:17

it's what Nick's talking about maybe they found

18:20

something. Maybe they found something in the running game.

18:23

Uh, and then maybe there's some chemistry development

18:25

with receivers. Maybe they can hold onto

18:27

that because they are deficient

18:30

in Samaria, are deficient at tight end right now, They're

18:32

deficient in the run game. So you've

18:34

got to hope that the strengths they're finding

18:37

work and add up to me able to compete against

18:39

this team on Sunday. All right, let's

18:41

come back. We'll pick some players to watch this

21:17

Back, Jaguars Happy Hour presented by the Fields

21:19

Auto Group. JP Shatick, John Os, You're

21:21

glad you're along with us today as the Jags

21:23

prepared to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

21:26

Sunday one o'clock kickoff time, Salute

21:28

to service game at t I A. Bank Field

21:31

This Sunday, the first of five

21:33

games left in three

21:35

of those here at the bank. Um,

21:38

but there's a holiday in the way tomorrow,

21:41

Thanksgiving. Are

21:43

you a yeah, you're a pie guy? Are you? Uh?

21:46

Joe told me you're a piet. I'm asking

21:48

you what is your favorite Thanksgiving

21:50

food? Um?

21:55

Today? Please? Well

21:59

the guy comma coming here probably

22:03

uh, well made dressing.

22:07

If it's if it If it's poorly made, it's nothing

22:09

worse if that's right. If it's dry,

22:13

but a a

22:15

a well made dressing. I

22:18

can go to town on that all day and

22:21

maybe you will tomorrow if you're lucky.

22:23

Let's get our players to watch. I don't like I

22:26

don't like beats, beats, beets

22:28

or sometimes Thanksgiving in there,

22:30

right, aren't they? Well, I've

22:32

never heard of that. You're like Leonard for Nett. Last night at Andrew

22:35

Norwell's event, we asked each

22:37

player up at the podium there, you know, what's your

22:39

favorite Thanksgiving food? And

22:41

you had a lot of mac and cheese, you had some turkey,

22:44

you had some dressing, and you know all

22:46

the normal Leonard Fournette says

22:49

Bell Peppers okay

22:52

experienced at some point Apparently he did, because

22:55

I've never heard of that Thanksgiving but I

22:57

hadn't needed beats. Is

23:00

it beats or this, it's thinking cranberry.

23:03

There's something red cranberry sauce.

23:05

Nare's something gams

23:08

no answer lunch, sweet

23:11

potatoes. I don't know the same thing sweet

23:14

potatoes. My father

23:16

would not allow asparagus

23:20

in the house. I said

23:22

there were issues. I

23:25

feel the same way about sweet at days. Let's

23:28

move forward. We'll find

23:30

out a little while. We'll hear what Jimmy have

23:32

a secret guest feels about. Yeah, we don't

23:34

know who that's gonna be, so we don't know yet.

23:37

Here are some players to watch, um, John,

23:39

you want to get us started today on your

23:41

players to watch. One of those is

23:44

a wide receiver. Well,

23:46

uh, it's very vogue this week

23:48

talked about Leonard for Nett and I've talked about

23:51

Nick Foles on every show, So I

23:54

pick Nick Foles. Uh Shark

23:58

and you

24:00

know Chris who I'm sure we'll acknowledge it when he comes

24:02

in. Both had plays last week

24:04

that really could have changed the dynamic

24:06

of the game early and uh,

24:08

DJ Chark has had a tremendous year and

24:12

it's it's probably unfair, but you almost

24:14

feel like they need at

24:17

least one big play out of him every week. Or

24:19

maybe two to really

24:21

have a chance to get going on offense. And

24:24

the Bucks secondary is it

24:27

is not a great secondary. They've been okay in the last

24:29

couple of games, but they were very weak last year. They weren't

24:31

they have been great this year. He's

24:34

a guy who you figure they'd

24:36

find some form that we talked about, they'd find some formula

24:39

to win. Uh.

24:41

And the easiest thing for me to visualize,

24:43

as as I'm sitting there and writing on

24:45

Sunday night after this game, I could see

24:47

myself writing the d J Chark had a hundred

24:49

and thirty five yards receiving in two touchdowns.

24:52

That's a conceivable thing for me to have. So

24:55

maybe this is a game where he

24:57

sort of does that and adds one more really

24:59

good game to what's been a good game so which has

25:01

been a good season so far. Uh.

25:04

Eventually, his next step is

25:06

probably doing that sort of thing

25:09

more consistently than he's done already. So

25:11

in the last four or five games, maybe that's where he

25:13

starts that it would be

25:16

nice for this offense. Yeah, sure, DJ Shark

25:18

Jr. Your offensive player to

25:20

watch this week. Defensively,

25:22

you're going up front with a young

25:24

and on the defensive line. Well, it's uh,

25:27

and I'm not putting this up here to take a shot at Tven.

25:30

It's more, he missed

25:32

a major gap on on a big play

25:35

last week, uh, cost

25:37

him a touchdown. It's happened a couple of times in

25:39

the last few games. You feel like

25:41

with Taven that he

25:43

was he really struggling the preseason, and

25:45

you feel like he has made

25:48

more impact. He's had some some

25:50

flash plays people have noticed, so

25:52

he's gotten better since the preseason. But

25:54

in order for this team to be a really good

25:57

he can't be splash play guy

26:00

without Marceledarius there, meaning he's

26:02

got to be consistent. And now he's got

26:05

to get to the point where he doesn't have those one

26:07

or two mistakes a game that really hurts you. Uh.

26:10

And I

26:12

can't see them stopping the run consistently

26:15

until he gets more consistent. Inside. I

26:18

really picked Aven more to talk about the

26:20

entire defensive line, which needs

26:24

somehow to be better against the run.

26:26

And maybe it won't happen.

26:29

Is it a lot to ask for it to happen this year?

26:31

Maybe, But as

26:33

long as they're giving up two yards a game, I

26:36

think it's fair to ask each week, can they

26:38

get better and make that stop because it's hard to

26:40

win when you're doing that. All right,

26:42

So you've got the d J. Shart Jr.

26:45

And a couple of two eighteen

26:47

draft Yes, let's

26:49

take a look of mine. A J. Boyer,

26:52

Jaguar's cornerback, and I you

26:54

know, he's kind of the

26:56

guy who's been around obviously in that secondary.

27:00

But this is more as you said about

27:03

the guys around A J this week because

27:05

of the questions as safety. The

27:08

youth on the other side at the corner got

27:10

d J. Hayden has been around, but how healthy

27:12

really is he? You don't know. He's been banged up

27:14

this year some So for boy and to

27:16

keep this group together somehow, I think would be

27:19

a huge this week, especially against this matchup.

27:21

Two thousand yard receivers, a

27:23

quarterback that throws around the yard a little bit, two

27:26

different types of receivers too. It's not just you

27:28

know Evans a huge monster down the

27:30

field. Uh. And then godwins

27:33

a little guy that can run so that they do it different

27:35

ways and who covers

27:37

who is a big question. And A J. Boy A has

27:39

been um in pretty good spirits

27:42

the last few weeks. We'll see if that can

27:44

can maintain down the stretcher if

27:46

they play some some better defense. So

27:48

for me, it's a J boy a and the defensive

27:51

backfield as a whole. He's playing pretty good.

27:53

He I wouldn't say he's playing it at

27:55

an elite level, but he has had a couple

27:57

of games where he's really done

27:59

a good job in difficult circumstances,

28:02

meaning he's had to shadow. He's had

28:05

to play a role that I don't think people expected to play

28:07

before the season. Obviously, and uh, he's

28:10

a pro. He's again,

28:12

I think he's ad a pro Bowl level. But if

28:14

everybody on the defense was playing as well as

28:17

a J I think they'd be in good

28:19

shape. So credit to him.

28:21

My next one, now, guard play

28:24

is not what you would call sexy,

28:26

right, It's not a sexy position. But

28:28

I'm going with Andrew Norwell. And here's

28:31

a couple of reasons why Jaguars left guard.

28:34

I think Pete Prisco the other night said that p F

28:36

has him ranked as the eighteenth

28:39

best guard in football this year through twelve

28:41

weeks. It's pretty good. There's sixty four

28:43

guards in the league, and there's been a lot of criticism

28:45

of Norwal's play this year. Obviously,

28:48

in the running game is where he thrives,

28:51

I think more so than in the passing

28:53

game. That's why he was brought here really, I think

28:55

to really bolster that run offense

28:57

and and and be a guy front between

28:59

Linda and and the left tackle. So,

29:02

um, can he finish on a strong

29:04

note the last month? I think it's a big question

29:06

mark and I don't have any doubts that he will.

29:09

If they can get that running game consistently

29:11

going again, I think that would help so Andrew

29:13

Norwell, I think it's a big piece of that here. Obviously,

29:16

if you can give fulls time to to have

29:18

the balance and do all that, that's that's another

29:20

part of this game too. But Andrew normal

29:22

upfront, he's playing better

29:26

than a lot of fans

29:28

and observers given credit for. I

29:31

wouldn't say that he has lived up to the All

29:33

Pro contract. Whatever. He

29:35

was making a high stace. You

29:38

gotta pay money, um, so he

29:40

hasn't been that. But he had

29:43

multiple plays earlier in the season

29:46

it looked really bad. Uh, and

29:49

that when it happens we talked about

29:51

before JP, it happens to an offensive line and nobody

29:53

forgets it when it happens to

29:56

uh somebody on defense or

29:58

a running back. Uh,

30:00

it gets forgotten in three weeks. And they're good plays

30:02

get remembered. For an offensive lineman,

30:04

you'll remember the bad. So he probably

30:06

falls into that category more

30:09

than most observers

30:12

and fans who are sort of convinced

30:14

now that he's bad want to believe. Uh.

30:17

So I think he's been fine. I think he'll finish fine.

30:19

Uh. As far as

30:21

his future, it's hard to get a real grip

30:23

on whether he'll return or not because of the

30:26

money, because of a lot of things. But uh,

30:29

he's not hurting the team.

30:31

There's no reason to move, you know, eight

30:34

emails all the time. Still, Hey, should they replace him

30:36

with Will Ritt? It's not that he's

30:38

fine for being the starter, Uh,

30:41

just not perhaps what they hoped he would

30:43

be. All right, So mindy too to watch

30:45

A. J. Boyer the cornerback, and Andrew

30:47

Norwell the offensive guard and

30:49

for John D. J. Jurke Jr. And defensive

30:52

lineman Taven Bryant are players to watch for

30:54

the Jags and the Bucks this

30:56

week. We're back in a moment. I'm sorry,

30:58

what I gotta watch? Him the players to watch.

33:34

this week than Jaguars Happy Our presented by the

33:36

Fields Group Holiday

33:39

or otherwise. Here's Jimmy Luck time. Yeah, what's

33:41

happening. It's a Wednesday, but kind of a Thursday.

33:43

The schedule got moved around, right, So Tuesday's

33:46

normally the off day. Doug Marron

33:48

moved the schedule up two days to give everybody

33:50

Thursday off, which is nice.

33:52

Not a lot of coaches do that, but

33:55

Doug has been good about that. He's pretty good with that.

33:57

Um that in Christmas kind of move

34:00

in the schedule around so we get that day off. Christmas

34:02

a Wednesday this year, I don't even know

34:06

that's when it usually is

34:09

most years. Um, but

34:11

but that could be another week where they moved things around

34:14

in the schedule. Um. So

34:16

I mean, here we are, it's five games to go, that's

34:19

what I hear. That's the rumor Jags and the Bucks

34:21

coming up this Sunday, And it's been a long

34:23

time for a game in this stadium. Yes,

34:25

it has been a long time for a home game. Not as long

34:27

as the Bucks. I think they played a little sketch where

34:30

stretch where was like forty

34:32

eight days something like that. But

34:34

but yeah, it has been a while. It seems like we hadn't

34:36

been here forever. And uh, last football

34:39

game here, I guess was Florida, Georgia. We

34:41

were in Yeah, we were in London and there was

34:44

the soccer game was here a couple of days later, that's

34:46

right, and they put a new field down for that. Yeah,

34:49

so we got a fresh field out there for us. It's great.

34:52

So and then obviously at home games you don't

34:54

have to move all the trunks and everybody. Yes, we were talking

34:56

about a little while ago the uh it

34:58

was nice to not have to load a truck today, that's

35:00

right. So it helps when

35:04

you just said that. I think we haven't really talked about that on the show.

35:07

On a road game, when do you guys load out a truck is

35:09

Wednesday? Um, it's usually Thursday, Okay,

35:11

Okay, Thursday, right, so yeah,

35:13

so we'll yeah, we'll load it now. Then he may not

35:15

leave right away. He may leave Friday

35:17

morning, Friday afternoon, depending on the trip. But

35:20

yeah, we normally load up, have everything ready

35:22

to go Thursday and after the game

35:25

obviously they head out right afterwards. And

35:27

it depends on where the game was. How soon

35:29

they get back. I mean anything

35:32

that we need right away will throw on the plane, mostly

35:34

just dirty clothes and player bags. Um,

35:36

because most everything is back usually Monday

35:39

afternoon. So what's on the plane is that pads

35:41

primarily like the player bags. How

35:43

much shoulder pads, cleats and then all the

35:46

stinky, dirty laundry. I did not know that. How

35:48

about that? Now? You know? That's why you asked the questions, why

35:50

you asked the tough questions, John, That's

35:52

what happens. This is This is that time

35:54

of year though too, Jimmy, where there's some churn

35:57

at the roster and some guys

35:59

are banged up, but they're trying out guys

36:01

and things happen. How much of

36:03

a stress is that on you guys? Uh, we

36:06

had two guys show up yesterday right before

36:08

practice. They we worked them out

36:10

and then uh, he said, hey, we're gonna

36:12

sign two of these guys and they need to be on the

36:14

field here in about ten minutes. So

36:17

we got them out there. Luckily we didn't wear pads,

36:19

so you don't have to worry about getting

36:21

everything done. But um, yeah, we got them fit and got

36:23

them out there, got their jerseys and

36:25

and everything. So it was little bit of grabbing gear off

36:27

the shelf, right. No, we still take the time

36:29

to get the right stuff. No, I mean, but

36:32

yeah, it's I seem it's a little bit of a scramble

36:36

there. I did. I did miss individual. I did

36:38

miss individual. So sorry,

36:40

sorry Joe, Dana and coach Walton. Um,

36:43

but t wolf pick my slap, slack up. Way

36:45

to go the way to go to wolf. Um, let's

36:47

get to the uniform unveiling.

36:50

Jaguars are back home. So jimmy luck,

36:52

what will the Jaguars wear Sunday against the Bucketeer.

36:54

We're gonna go with the with the white pants,

36:58

okay, white pants at home and the

37:00

black jerseys, black jerseys

37:03

okay, j dub there love

37:08

Jared Willie black jerseys, white

37:10

pants. Cool

37:14

and uh once again that you can't

37:16

wear the teal anymore. Right, Teal done the teal.

37:18

We were done with the Teal Teal jerseys for

37:20

this year. So there's

37:23

only you can only wear these number

37:26

of times you can Yeah, there's you can wear it three

37:28

times. Preseason doesn't count.

37:30

So we actually wore teal five times and

37:33

then uh a little spoiler alert, I guess we'll

37:35

wear five. There's black jerseys

37:37

five times? Oh oh,

37:40

you just I mean a little. We

37:43

can just forget the segment the rest of the year.

37:45

That's fine, Jimmy, It's we'll

37:48

see right. I'm taking the rest of the year off. Awesome

37:52

good stuff, favorite Thanksgiving food.

37:56

Um dressing, not

37:58

stuffing dressing. Yeah, okay, one bond.

38:00

My dad makes pretty good dressing. Enjoy

38:03

tomorrow, all right, appreciate you see on Friday

38:05

back, Jaguars Happy Hour presented by the

Fields Auto Group and

40:49

Fresh out of Meetings,

40:52

our co host. Every week, it's

40:55

Wide Receiver Chris Coldly. Hi, Chris, how

40:57

are you, sir? I'm doing well, doing well. I'm

40:59

gonna be here today. A lot to be thankful for

41:01

this week, a lot of work going in

41:03

this week and a lot of things being worked through.

41:06

But I'm glad to be joined here by

41:08

the man, the myth, the legend, Wells

41:12

Campbell, baby John.

41:18

Come on. But

41:22

how many impressions of yourself over

41:24

the years have you heard from teammates?

41:27

And how good is who has done the best

41:29

one? Who has done the best one? Ever? That's

41:32

a tough one, No, man, There's been some great wins

41:34

over the years, and I get probably

41:36

at least I mean about ten guys

41:39

pretty much. You're

41:41

definitely top five five. I can't

41:44

think. I gotta see you. I think will be the actual

41:46

best. It just doesn't jump out of me. But there

41:48

is definitely one I can't. I can't just I just I

41:50

know. It was like, wow, hold on,

41:52

man, trying to personate me on the street somewhere.

41:57

Teach me a little bit. It's one very good

41:59

thing. We had

42:01

one time in a huddle where everybody

42:03

huddled up and I just started

42:05

talking in my Klais voice, and some people

42:07

thought he was actually talking. It's pretty good. You

42:09

are really pretty good. You probably thought

42:11

he was actually talking. Yeah,

42:13

They were like wait a minute, what we know

42:16

proud of that? Let's I know, you gotta get out of here a

42:18

little early, so we'll question

42:20

Calais first. How about that? Um?

42:22

Defensively, I think we talked in the locker room

42:24

this week about this. Five games

42:27

to go. The last three have not gone well for

42:29

this defense overall, but they're still

42:31

juice in this unit, right, I mean, how do you guys? How

42:33

do you guys rally the rest of the way here? I mean, the biggest

42:36

thing is just staying locked in stay said of course,

42:38

you know, I mean, obviously things always go according

42:40

to plan. You know you're gonna have some misfortune

42:43

in bad times, you know, but you know your true

42:45

character is tested and you find out who

42:47

you really are and a hard time. So you

42:49

know, we were flying around in practice. You know, guys

42:51

are definitely still locked in engage, you know, playing

42:54

a lot of energy and uh you

42:56

know, I'm actually you know, decided where we're going,

42:58

you know what I mean. Obviously you know hasn't been

43:00

up to our standard last couple of weeks, but I can't

43:02

do nothing about that. Now. You have to put it behind you and

43:04

then go out and play good ball. And so this week, we're

43:06

going out here and play with what we're supposed to. I feel like it would

43:08

give us momentum to finish the season strong and put

43:10

ourself in a good position. May

43:13

say you're excited. Why

43:15

what's from the outside

43:17

point of view, people would be saying, what's he talking about?

43:19

Well, and I'm just excited to see how guys respond,

43:22

Just to see, you know, guys,

43:24

you know, be show the resilience,

43:26

you know, because obviously you know, I mean

43:29

it's easy to just quit, you know, and lay

43:31

down. You know, that's the easy thing to do, you

43:33

know, to give up. You know we're not playing

43:35

good, you know, we suck whatever. But no,

43:37

that's not how it works. You know. You gotta fight your way out of tough

43:39

times. And uh, you know, I like where

43:41

we're at in the mindset that I see

43:44

in the locker room, where guys are ready to fight, you know, I

43:46

mean windows are drawing, you know, just going there and give

43:48

us your hall, you know, play as hard as you can, try

43:50

to do it the best way you can, and let our

43:52

talent show. And we used to do this later

43:55

j P. Should we let them?

43:57

I want to hear what Chris Connelly I've

44:00

asked Clays a million questions, a lot of which

44:02

he didn't want to hear. Correct. Yes, what

44:05

does Chris Conley want to ask Clay's campbell?

44:07

Just probably just like a

44:10

super like an important football

44:12

question that you know, Clais just has a

44:14

lot of years in this league, so he knows the game

44:17

very well. So I just have a very serious

44:19

football question. At what age did your

44:21

voice start sounding like that very

44:24

serious? You know? Yeah? Um,

44:26

I definitely, because this

44:29

cannot tell me that you were at ten years

44:31

old going hey mama, can I get some

44:33

serial? I

44:36

want to go outside and play with my friends? Uh?

44:39

No, you know this way here is from

44:42

you know, from just scrimming and yelling in the football field.

44:44

I used to be like the super hype player

44:46

all the time, just scrimming the time of my lungs. And

44:49

you see like a very like you know variation that

44:51

now, I mean, I'm a lot more reserved. But when I

44:53

was, like, you know, you're two year three man, I

44:55

was screaming all the time. We could

44:57

hear you. Because now sometimes you'll get loud, it'll

44:59

be what is he saying?

45:02

What is It'll be like from here to where you are,

45:04

right now and just being a stadium be like, yeah, guys,

45:06

let's go get fired up. And I'm like, I started doing

45:09

voice exercises, man, start nodding and

45:11

trying to work on actually projecting your

45:13

being heard, because there's nothing worse than

45:15

were trying to say something everybody's like what hey.

45:18

I just know it comes from the heart, and I know it comes

45:20

from a good place, so I'll smile and nod. Yeah,

45:24

especially when you break it down and you go something on

45:27

three and I'm like, I have no te what you're saying to

45:30

three and Jags

45:33

Jacks go. Chris,

45:35

what was your first um,

45:37

I guess when did you first hear about Calais

45:40

coming up? I said an

45:42

event last night. He's been around for a long time, obviously

45:44

twelfth year in the league. When did you first hear of

45:46

him? And what were your first impressions of

45:48

him? When my first impression of

45:50

Klais Campbell actually came playing

45:53

Klais, Klais was on

45:56

the other team and

45:58

and watching him

46:01

on Calais, the first thing

46:03

that I realized is, you know, I'm lucky because

46:05

I probably won't have to go up against this guy.

46:08

Uh if I do my job correctly, I won't

46:10

have to get hit by this guy. And then on

46:12

the field I found out how

46:14

intense he was. If

46:16

you're on the other team, you know, and and

46:19

and I told him this when I got here. I was like,

46:21

yo, dude, I thought that you legit

46:24

wanted to kill me because you were walking

46:26

around on the field. He was talking to himself,

46:28

you know, you know, which is you know, the sign

46:31

of someone who might be a little bit and

46:34

he was. He was upset. You know. It was a tough game

46:36

we played. We played a really close game in

46:38

Kansas City. It was it was a rough one and

46:40

he was just talking to himself, pacing back and forth

46:43

across the line. I was like, dude, this guy is crazy,

46:46

completely different guy, and the public

46:48

does not see that from class. But I never, I

46:50

never like looked at his social media. I never

46:52

saw the Jags media. The only Clais

46:55

Campbell I saw was the one who would get in the backfield

46:57

and hit somebody and who would get in somebody's

46:59

face act like he wanted to throw hands. And

47:01

so I thought that that's who Klais Campbell

47:04

was. And then I came in the building and he was like, oh

47:06

man, I'm so excited for what we got this year

47:08

and who we can be as a team. And I was like,

47:11

man like he

47:14

seems like yeah. I was like, it's

47:17

this is the same I mean, it has to be the same guy. There's

47:19

not that many guys that big walking around in this

47:21

thing, so I mean, it's the same guy. Maybe

47:23

he had an intervention, like come to

47:25

Jesus meeting and he just he is looking

47:27

at the game differently. Have you always

47:29

been that different

47:32

on I mean, because people who see you at an event

47:34

in the media, Oh yeah, I've always been like

47:37

super nice. I mean I might sign the football field too,

47:39

you know. Uh, like's

47:41

not I mean, if he's on

47:43

your team, he's nice. I

47:45

mean, and like, so obviously you know, I'm

47:47

competitive. I want to win, you know, and so

47:50

like you know, when we're in a tough ball

47:52

game and it's a it's a battle and it's

47:54

going back and forth, you know, that's when I'm the most

47:56

locked in and the most you know, ready for whatever.

47:59

And I think that becomes you know, we're just wanting

48:01

to win, you know, the competitiveness. But when

48:03

it comes to like actual like off the field and stuff,

48:05

I mean, I'm a happy go lucky guy, you know, just you

48:08

know, enjoy life. Always got some on my face. You

48:10

know, I want to spread love in the world. So you

48:12

know, when it comes to football though, it's just the competitiveness

48:14

comes out, you know. So unless I'm doing something competitive,

48:17

the best guy trying to be the best guy can be.

48:19

I've never asked this be for But did that start?

48:21

You know? It seems like now ever since

48:23

you've got here, you've had an appreciation

48:26

for everything, meaning on the field,

48:28

off field. And it's been my

48:30

experience that guys as they get older

48:32

in their career sort of embrace

48:35

everything. But have you always enjoyed

48:38

all the NFL meaning the opportunity

48:40

to be in the community, the opportunity to meet with the media,

48:42

to meet people. Has that always been your

48:44

m O? Or has that come across later? Well?

48:46

I gotta I had really good role models, you

48:49

know. I mean, you know, Larry fitz Jerald is

48:51

another guy who everybody raps about all the time

48:53

because he's deserving of it, you know, and uh,

48:55

you know, being a rookie coming to watch and just

48:58

see you know, the way he carried himself, way

49:00

he interacted with the fans, the way he talked to

49:02

the media the way he prepared, you

49:04

know, outside of actually been on the field,

49:06

I mean, the way he just was in the locker room, and

49:08

I was like, Okay, that's a good guy to follow. You know, he's

49:10

doing the right you know, and some other guys

49:12

too. You know. It's just like, you know, Kurt

49:15

Warner is another guy I got to sit next to on the plane as a rookie.

49:17

You know, I really picked his brain, and it's just like, you know, life

49:20

is so much bigger than football. Like, yeah, football is

49:22

incredible. I love it. It's like, you know,

49:24

since I was six years old, I've been in love with

49:26

football, and I pitched myself

49:28

every day that I get to do this for a living. Uh,

49:30

you know, but life has so much more to offer, you

49:33

know, and so like, you know, just being

49:35

on having this platform, being able to you

49:37

know, affect the community in a positive

49:40

way, you know, be able to communicate with kids

49:42

and trying to inspire him, you know, being able to

49:44

touch people's lives, you know. I mean, this

49:46

this platform is huge, you know, and especially like

49:48

at the time like this, you know, and you know, the season

49:50

hasn't really gone according to plan. You kind of you have to

49:52

remember that, like, you know, yeah,

49:55

you know, you could be a little frustrated because

49:57

you had high expectations that you wanted to win. But

49:59

at the end day, you know, like there's so still so

50:01

much you can accomplish, you know, off off the field

50:04

and even on the field. You know, just I mean trying to affect

50:06

my teammates lives, you know, trying to make you know,

50:08

value to them as people, you know, as

50:11

men more than football. Alright,

50:13

class, I know you've got to run a little bit early here,

50:15

and you've been hosting Jaguars All Access

50:17

Television. You've done a great job with that, and um,

50:19

we appreciate you coming in on Chris's

50:22

show today. This is his show.

50:27

When it's your show, you can wear a highlighter

50:29

shot. If it's not

50:31

your show, they say no, don't wear that. Class.

50:36

We'll talk to you a little bit later. Man, good job. That's ready

50:38

to go. We got we got more questions for Chris

50:41

coming up. But let's take a look though at the FC playoff

50:43

picture. Well there's go there goes Campbell

50:46

everyone division leaders

50:49

of course, uh in the hunt

50:51

their Patriots Ravens, Texans chiefs

50:53

wild card with the Bills and the Steelers. The in the hunt

50:55

graphic on the right side, not where you want to

50:57

be and certainly not near the bottom. And Chris,

51:00

that's the cars that have been dealt this year, right, five

51:02

games left. We heard that a lot today from

51:04

Tom Coughlin. And there's still there's

51:07

still time for this group that's in

51:09

that locker room to come together and play

51:12

some good football before the end of the seas stuff

51:14

done right, for sure, there is time to play good

51:16

football. There's time to learn a lot

51:19

about what we have in this locker room,

51:21

what these pieces have come together to

51:23

become as a team. And I don't

51:25

want to steal Klaisis Thumber thunder, But

51:28

when things go bad, you have

51:30

a tremendous opportunity to learn

51:32

about yourself, and you have a tremendous

51:34

opportunity to learn about your locker room. It's easy

51:37

for guys to come together and work together when

51:39

things go great. It's easy for guys to come together

51:41

and say all the right things to the media when things

51:44

are going great. It's a lot harder for

51:46

you to stand there and do your job

51:49

and be thankful and grateful

51:51

for the opportunity that you have to work when

51:53

things don't go your way. It's a

51:55

lot harder to come out here and find the

51:57

motivation to play through injury, to

51:59

play when you're tired, and get everything

52:02

out of yourself and your teammates when things

52:04

aren't going the way that you planned. And so right

52:07

now, that's what we're focusing on, is we're focusing

52:09

on doing the little things. We're focusing

52:12

on coming in here, studying, going

52:14

out to practice, and taking things seriously

52:17

to the point where we want to go out

52:19

there and have competitive and dominant performances

52:21

on Sunday. That doesn't change how

52:25

the offense in recent weeks I know has

52:28

not put points on the board the way you guys wanted to.

52:30

Is there a feeling that it's close, and

52:32

if so, what's sort of the thing

52:35

needed to get it over the top? I

52:37

think consistency across the board from all

52:39

position groups. And for an offense

52:41

to run like a well oiled

52:43

machine, you have to have all guys clicking on all

52:45

cylinders, running place correctly. You can't

52:47

have a breakdown in protection, or you can't

52:50

have a breakdown in the track that

52:52

the running back takes, or a breakdown and

52:54

a route concept where the receiver runs the wrong

52:56

route at the wrong depth, or the

52:58

quarterback misreads the coverage and the wrong check.

53:00

You have to have everybody on the same page,

53:02

and it seems like this last two weeks we've

53:05

just had one or two guys off on

53:07

these plays that are, you know, big

53:10

time plays that can be monumental for the momentum

53:12

a game. And so right now we're focusing

53:14

on getting to those basics and really upping our

53:16

communication to the point where we

53:18

feel like we've had good communication from

53:21

quarterback to receiver, but we want that

53:23

kind of communication across the board for everybody

53:26

to the line, from the center

53:28

to the tight ends out on the edge. We're making those blocks,

53:30

from the center to the running back, from

53:32

the running backs to the line to the receivers.

53:35

We want that kind of communication going on across

53:37

the board so that we're all on the same page and we

53:39

can make these plays and pressure situations,

53:41

extend drives and get points. And

53:44

you had some of that momentum, felt

53:46

like early in the game last week, but a holding

53:48

call here would stall a driver. Just

53:50

one little thing happens like that, to your point,

53:53

one one little detail

53:55

that's not right or goes the wrong

53:57

way for you, and that can stall everything earlier.

54:00

Actually, some of those things that you can control. Some

54:02

of those things you control by replacing your

54:04

hands, getting them inside some of them. Some of

54:06

them you can't. Some of them. Those are football plays,

54:08

and depending on the crew, the crew

54:11

could be a crew that likes to call offensive

54:13

holding on some plays that are really

54:15

in a gray area, and we had we had one of those,

54:18

so you can't really do anything about that. But when that does

54:20

happen, you have to be able to come together and

54:23

dig yourself out of those holes because those are gonna happen.

54:25

Those are gonna happen. But really, we don't want to

54:27

put ourselves behind the sticks. We don't want to make it

54:30

third and long when it could have been third and

54:32

manageable. Uh. It really changes

54:34

the way that you have to attack your game plan

54:36

when you're in third and eleven plus, and that's just

54:38

not where we want to be. It was a remarkably

54:41

subtle way of saying that was a bag.

54:43

Yes, I

54:46

can't say,

54:48

but I mean, you run

54:50

that play three years ago that

54:53

doesn't get called, I might

54:55

get fined. I'm probably gonna get

54:57

fined now. But that's

54:59

just that the game changes, and each

55:01

of these crews have tendencies and

55:04

they call the game the way that they want to call the game.

55:06

And and sometimes there's a situation

55:08

where somebody Sometimes you block

55:10

somebody too good, Sometimes you block

55:12

somebody too good. And the league is getting to a point now

55:15

where they don't want you to necessarily dominate somebody

55:17

with a block. And it's hard. It's hard. Sometimes

55:19

you gotta layoff

55:21

a little bit. We've the last couple

55:24

of weeks, we've heard from Nick Foles after these

55:26

games, and we're

55:28

starting if we didn't realize before who

55:30

Nick Foles is, we're starting to realize now

55:33

that he is a super consistent

55:36

with his message and the way he goes about

55:38

his business. No matter the results, no matter

55:41

how it goes, he's gonna be Nick Foles. And

55:43

that's who he has always been, right, Chris always,

55:45

that's no matter the criticisms, been

55:48

the same guy, um And he's

55:50

only grown since that. And

55:53

he's grown to a point where that's the reason that guys

55:55

can in this locker room and in that huddle

55:57

get behind him and say, hey, we're gonna

56:00

out here and we're gonna make it happen. Regardless

56:02

of what the score is, because people believe in that

56:04

and they see that authenticity and they'll

56:06

follow it um But that

56:08

that message is one that regardless

56:10

of what happens, you know, he comes out

56:13

here and cranks off, you know, five

56:15

straight wins, that message is going to be

56:17

exactly the same. It's gonna stay even you're not gonna see

56:19

a guy who's elated or excited. It's going

56:21

to be that consistent message of coming

56:23

in here to work, love and his brothers and trusting

56:25

people because that's the culture

56:28

that he comes from, and that's the culture that he wants

56:30

to emanate and to build around

56:33

him. And if you have that kind of culture, it doesn't matter

56:35

what the score is in the game. You can come

56:37

back and you can make things happen, or you can go

56:39

up big and you know, put

56:42

things together. But it all starts. It all

56:44

starts from having people who believe in each

56:46

other, who trust each other,

56:49

you know, on all the days of the week

56:51

leading up to Sunday, favorite

56:53

Thanksgiving food, favorite

56:56

Thanksgiving food. I'm a mac and cheese guy.

56:59

See someone consider are that not a traditional

57:02

Thanksgiving? I'm sorry, I'm African American.

57:04

It's a Thanksgiving, and

57:07

I realized that some people make it different.

57:10

You know. I was watching a video last year.

57:12

There was actually a meme and it was just saying

57:14

like the cultural differences and

57:17

Thanksgiving foods, and it was like, I guess Rachel

57:19

Ratio and she was making mac and cheese

57:22

and she was like cutting up vegetables and

57:24

like putting vegetables in the mac and cheese,

57:27

and like everybody's like, oh, this looks

57:29

so good, this looks awesome. In the one African

57:31

American lady in there is just silent

57:33

the whole time, just like, Okay,

57:36

I've never seen this before. It doesn't say a

57:38

word, but yeah, you

57:42

know, hey, you know, if you want to put nuts

57:45

and vegetables in your mac and cheese, go ahead.

57:47

We'll be seeing that in my house. But you

57:49

know, mac and cheese is it's a dish

57:52

that I believe is is integral to

57:55

holidays. It might be more of a Southern thing. I'm not

57:57

sure people in the South put step in

57:59

Macaranian che I've never seen. You

58:01

just need cheese and mac, that's all we need. If you

58:03

do it, ain't touching my plate. That lobster

58:06

mac and cheese is good too, now that I'm on the coast.

58:08

You know. Hey, I don't know if I'll

58:10

be making that myself, but I do enjoy good

58:12

lobster mac and cheese. Um. Hey,

58:15

I have a great holiday. I have

58:17

a good day off. We'll see you back here on Friday.

58:19

Well done. Chris

58:21

Conley, Jaguar's wide receiver, joins us every

58:23

Wednesday. I have a great holiday. Happy

58:25

Thanksgiving to you. Will catch you next time. It's Jaguars

58:28

Happy Hour, presented by the Fields Auto Group

58:30

on the Jaguars Digital Network.
