1:14

Well, greetings and

1:17

everybody wept with the best damn relationship

1:19

on the planer at the John Campio Show brought

1:21

to you in

1:21

part by Mint Mobile coming

1:23

you from right here on my YouTube

1:26

channel. I am, of course, your host, John

1:28

Campia, and it is an awesome honor privilege

1:30

as it is every day to have you Our

1:33

international friends gather out as we talk about our favorite

1:35

things in the world, movies, movie news, TV streaming,

1:38

all sorts of good stuff. I had a good night last

1:40

night. I'll talk about that in a second. sitting right

1:42

beside me over here. Chris Carr is here, ladies

1:44

and gentlemen. How are you doing? I'm doing

1:45

well. I have I'm having a bittersweet day.

1:47

I got released from two nationals. So

1:50

I like like a it's like an actor break up.

1:52

Right? So I got bangs. Oh. You know?

1:54

But the bangs are bang. Thank you so much so

1:56

good. Thank you. I love

1:57

them. Is there is there an upside to this? He

1:59

says there's

1:59

no bangs. I did get bangs. Oh, bangs

2:02

upside is whenever you get panda, you're put on a

2:04

bail for commercial. Obviously, you're doing the right things. It

2:06

just comes down to stuff that's out of your control. Like,

2:08

maybe I'm like too much of a brunette.

2:10

Maybe I'm too white. Maybe I'm too tall. Things

2:12

that, you know, she looks like my ex

2:14

wife and I hate my ex wife. I

2:16

look like a lot of people's wife. Sitting

2:20

right beside her. Of course, today

2:22

is Wednesday. That means Aaron Cummings is here.

2:24

And so is Joey Bishop? How are you guys

2:26

doing? Well, first of all, we are celebrating

2:28

the fantastic wins at

2:30

the Emmys of squid game. And I have to tell

2:32

you, you guys have not lived

2:35

until you've watched an orgy with

2:37

the commentary of mister Rae Ora.

2:39

because let me tell you, man, that is

2:42

a Sunday night. That was something With

2:44

your baby. With my baby. Yeah. By the way,

2:46

and all the babies. Ray, who

2:48

my baby was absolutely enamored

2:51

and enthralled by, and Ray kept trying to

2:53

cover his eyes. And I was like, he's ten

2:55

months. He doesn't

2:55

know what's going on. Right? He was like, yeah. So you're

2:57

off. He's

2:59

fine. remember. for context,

3:01

we were watching House of the Dragon.

3:03

Oh, for clarity. We were

3:05

watching a TV And

3:07

Greg was giving running commentary on

3:09

the Orgy, which was I really should have recorded

3:11

it. And of course, the website, Ray, producer

3:14

running the show here today, Jonathan Boyco. Jonathan,

3:16

how are you doing? I'm doing great as well. I'm

3:18

celebrating the fact that the Dodgers clench

3:20

the division, and there's still a month

3:22

left in the season that's how far

3:24

ahead these guys are. Yeah. Maybe

3:27

their game more games to go. But they wanna

3:30

make it worse when they choke early in the playoffs.

3:32

Hey. Hey. I see what I'm saying.

3:34

Alright. Anyway, guys, I I wanted to tell

3:36

you guys about something. So you guys know, give me

3:38

allow me a moment here. You

3:41

guys know I've been talking a long time about The only

3:43

celebrity I have ever been too nervous to go

3:45

up and introduce myself to is weird out.

3:47

I I've I've walked up, spoke with Helen

3:49

Miran, blocked

3:50

up, talked to Harrison Ford, George Lucas.

3:53

Doesn't matter. It's fine. I I

3:55

don't get shocked by that. Right? But

3:57

I in the same room at the same events with Weird

3:59

Allianz like many

3:59

times and I've never had the guts to go watch him. I

4:02

grew up on his music. And

4:03

so and bought

4:06

us VIP backstage

4:08

meet in Greek passes at the weird alkylated

4:10

concert yesterday. And

4:12

so I knew I was gonna finally meet weird

4:14

out. And

4:15

the moment came

4:18

and the concert was done. It was a great

4:21

show. walked into the

4:23

back to meet Weird Al, and

4:25

he saw me come in and he

4:27

goes, John Campia. And

4:30

I'm like, because watch

4:32

show men love your reviews. I'm like,

4:34

thank

4:34

you. The show was great.

4:36

And Anne,

4:39

Anne

4:39

later told me she's like, and can you

4:40

bring that up, Jonathan? Mhmm. Anne

4:43

was this is the this is not the

4:45

first time that I bumped it. This was the

4:47

second time he and I because when I first

4:49

met him was for a photo, so we weren't separated

4:52

by a plastic sheet like it. But, anyway,

4:55

Anne looks at me and she goes, I've never seen

4:57

you like that.

4:58

I've never seen I was dumbfounded

5:00

and stunned and numb. And I know for a lot of

5:02

people say, well, well, it's weird, Al. You don't

5:04

understand. This is the one celebrity I've

5:06

never ever ever had the guts

5:08

to talk to. And when I walked

5:10

in that room, And he was like,

5:12

John, I'm like, holy shit. So I was

5:14

like to sit. Tomorrow, I'm not

5:16

gonna be on the show. I can retire now.

5:19

My career has hit its Apex it's

5:21

never gonna get bigger than this. It's

5:23

never gonna get better than this. So

5:25

I might as well just pack it in now. Anyway,

5:28

so a big thank you to In

5:30

case he sees this at some point to weird out

5:32

yankovic for making this fucking Canadian

5:34

nobody's life, you gave me seriously

5:36

one of my my favorite moments ever.

5:38

My my app little favorite moment in my career.

5:40

So thank you, sir. Alright.

5:42

With that down, guys, we got a few

5:44

things to keep you up to date about. First

5:47

of all, wanna let you guys know

5:49

that we, of course, have a segment on the show

5:51

now called the mid mobile hotline question

5:53

of the day. But the thing is

5:55

you guys have really been using it a lot. and

5:57

we only have time for one or two

5:59

each

5:59

day. So starting this week,

6:02

we're gonna be putting up a separate video every week

6:04

that I'm gonna be doing call the MIP

6:06

mobile hotline questions of

6:09

the week where I'm gonna pick five, six, or

6:11

seven of my favorite hotline questions

6:13

that you guys phone in that we didn't

6:15

have time to use on the main show. Again,

6:17

we can't possibly do all of them, but I'm at least

6:19

gonna start getting through more of them. So keep your

6:21

guys' eyes open for that a little bit later

6:23

this week. Okay, guys. Here's how

6:25

today's show is gonna go. We break it down into two

6:27

parts. In the first part of the show, we're gonna

6:29

talk about some predetermined topics. And in the second

6:31

half of the show, We're gonna take your live

6:33

comments and questions. Now if you wanna get a live

6:35

comment or question on, number one, you gotta be watching

6:37

live. Number two, when we get to the end of the

6:39

main topics, we'll announce that we're opening up the Super

6:41

Chats And once we do, that'll be your

6:43

cue to fire in your thoughts, theories, opinions,

6:45

speculations, and questions, and we'll spend the

6:47

second half of the show addressing those.

6:50

So with that all down, Let's get

6:51

into an off the top here, shall we?

6:54

And our first off the top is

6:55

this. You

6:56

mentioned that, you know, me and

6:59

Anne and you and Tom and Ray and Little

7:01

Tommy, we got together to watch House

7:03

of the Dragon the other night

7:04

thoroughly loving this show.

7:07

This show has been amazing. Well,

7:10

even though House of the Dragon opened to

7:12

spectacular numbers, the biggest

7:14

HBO has seen since the

7:16

conclusion of the original

7:18

Game of Thrones series, it

7:20

looks like the viewership is

7:22

going up. If you take a look over here at

7:24

Variety, viewership for the fourth

7:26

episode went up another five percent.

7:29

Now this is why this is particularly

7:32

interesting. because this is a piece

7:34

of context that will probably go right over

7:36

Chris' head.

7:36

But there's

7:38

a little organization known as the NFL.

7:40

I know them. Who are they?

7:42

Yeah. There there will be a, you know,

7:44

a bunch of national feminist

7:47

league. We are very well aware of that. That's exactly

7:49

what it is. The national feminist league.

7:52

and

7:53

they started their season this

7:55

weekend. And you had your first

7:57

Sunday night football game of the year.

7:59

And even with that, with

8:02

the NFL, which is the number one sport by

8:04

miles in North America.

8:06

Even with that, the viewership of

8:09

Game of Thrones House of the Dragon went up.

8:12

This tells me two things. One,

8:14

I gotta I know I sound like a broken record

8:16

player, but, man, when you do week to week releases

8:18

instead of dropping everything at once, were to

8:20

mouth builds and and everybody wants to get

8:22

on the train. FOMO kicks in for a lot

8:24

of people through like, okay, gotta get on board.

8:26

And the viewership just swells and swells

8:28

and swells and swells. Number

8:30

two, what it tells us is that House of the

8:32

Dragon is really hitting home with people.

8:34

People are enjoying this show because not only do they

8:36

continue to watch it, But clearly, they're spreading the

8:38

word about it, and more people are jumping on board

8:40

with it as well. So that is huge. See,

8:42

Chris, you see this? The numbers go up. What stands

8:44

out to you about mean,

8:45

thank god people are having their babies watch these orgies.

8:48

That's that's tricky.

8:50

You'll have to see in those numbers up. Yeah.

8:51

I get those numbers up. Honestly,

8:54

I I do think a lot of this is people

8:56

have been waiting out to see if the show

8:58

was decent. Right? Because some

9:00

people not everyone. Some people

9:02

enjoyed that last season. Some of us

9:04

didn't. I think people really have been waiting out to say, is this

9:06

worth tuning into? I've been burned before. I

9:08

don't wanna get Jocaris. I wanna enjoy

9:10

this show. Mhmm. And I think people are really

9:12

really liking House of the Dragon. Plus, I mean, if

9:14

you wanna get butts and seats and people

9:16

streaming, you do have an orgy. You

9:17

go, hey, remember how Game of Thrones had a lot

9:19

of nudity. Guess what? Kids?

9:22

Let's tune in. Yeah. And everybody I mean, who

9:24

doesn't like a good Uncle niece

9:26

scene? Anyway,

9:29

Aaron, you were there. You watched with but

9:31

you see these viewership numbers going out

9:33

at the

9:33

same time that the interval is kicking back off again,

9:35

which is huge. What stands out to you? Well, you

9:37

know, I mean, I feel like for the very

9:40

first episode, they went for

9:42

it. I mean, I after

9:44

that scene, the child birth

9:46

scene I said to Tom, I

9:48

go, he was he was sort of, like, half paying

9:50

attention. And I go, oh my god. Oh my god. You

9:52

gotta realign that. You gotta see, and he goes, what happens? I

9:54

said, I cannot describe it. but

9:56

this show started at

9:58

Red Wedding, and then they're going. And I and

10:00

that first episode to

10:02

have such a gruesome and

10:05

brutal and heartbreaking scene

10:07

and then the Myers scene to

10:09

come right after that and the camera pans

10:11

down. I went, oh my god,

10:13

they didn't start at episode one of Game

10:15

of Thrones. They started at Red Wedding

10:17

level and then they're just gonna continue

10:19

and they keep pushing that needle

10:21

of expect the unexpected And

10:24

the talent is so that's what I'm

10:26

really excited about. Is that Game

10:28

of Thrones, we came to expect

10:30

a certain caliber of talent

10:32

and they're they're there. It's

10:34

not like they took the b team for the

10:37

sequel. They took their already

10:39

high level a team and

10:41

they said, we're only going to hire

10:43

at this level and beyond. And

10:45

so far, I'm really loving

10:47

it. And I I really wanna we we

10:49

watch the shows -- Yeah. --

10:51

where the director was being interviewed and

10:53

she was talking about how she

10:56

watched films watching, you know,

10:58

seeing sex scenes through

11:00

the lens of a male gaze,

11:02

and the male gaze is a term that you

11:04

can look up. It's a filmmaking term. And as a

11:06

woman, she wanted to showcase

11:08

through a different eye. And

11:10

I thought she did a really beautiful job

11:13

of setting up the anticipation and

11:16

giving us the or the

11:18

will they won't they. And I

11:20

I thought that she did a remarkable job,

11:22

and I'm really excited about next Sunday,

11:24

not only to watch my

11:28

water bottles win that game,

11:30

but I'm just

11:32

kidding. I'm still voting. I'm still the

11:34

lions have it. The lions have it. I'm just

11:36

kidding. They never do. But not only for

11:38

the NFL and for them to have an excellent

11:40

season where everyone stays safe, but also

11:42

for house dragon where no one is

11:44

safe. Alright, guys. Question is for you.

11:46

What do you think about that? So if you were watching

11:48

House of Dragons! What do you think about the

11:50

viewership going up despite the fact that The

11:52

first Sunday football season happened. Whatever

11:54

your guys' thoughts are, jump down to the comment section

11:57

below and leave those thoughts

11:59

there. Alright, guys.

12:01

With that down, let's do one

12:03

more off the top and that is

12:05

this. You know,

12:06

where people are getting their limbs

12:08

hacked off, in house the

12:10

dragon,

12:10

jobs are getting hacked off over

12:13

at Warner Brothers as it is being

12:15

revealed through Variety, that Warner

12:17

Bros. discovery has started the process

12:19

of laying people off. They

12:21

said they've laid off a little over a hundred

12:23

employees right now.

12:25

Of course, this was completely expected because

12:27

of the merger and all that kind of stuff. I

12:29

think they said this is somewhat somewhere around the

12:31

thirty percent mark. of the

12:33

laps are gonna do so you can expect hundreds

12:35

more. Now, of course, this

12:37

is no surprise. Like, we

12:39

remember, of course, when Disney bought out

12:41

Fox, Shortly after

12:43

that, a lot

12:45

of cuts got made because

12:47

you simply had redundancies. You

12:49

now you you had people who were doing

12:52

duplicate jobs in the two organizations, and

12:54

now those duplicate jobs weren't required,

12:57

especially since we also found out

12:59

Warner Bros. Discovery announced that

13:01

a lot of the layoffs that will be happening

13:03

there are gonna be as a result, not of

13:05

their merger with Discovery. but

13:07

of Warner Bros. merging doing more

13:09

merging of HBO Max and

13:11

HBO, and getting rid of some of the

13:13

redundancies between there as well. This is

13:15

what the people at over at Brody said. They said

13:17

Warner Brothers Discovery enacted a one

13:19

hundred layoffs Tuesday as a part of a

13:21

planned downsizing of the

13:23

company's ad sales department. I guess that's where they're

13:25

starting in ad sales. That had been

13:27

in the work since Discovery closed its merger

13:29

with Walt WarnerMedia

13:32

in April, varieties confirmed. These

13:34

cuts are part of a previously reported

13:36

and expected thirty percent reduction overall

13:38

across the ad sales division,

13:40

a sector of the merged

13:42

company with many redundancies in the

13:44

coming weeks. However, not all of

13:46

the exits will be layoffs. According to

13:48

an individual's knowledge of the situation, and

13:50

undisclosed number of those departures will

13:52

be negotiated deals while others will

13:54

simply be retirement. So, again,

13:56

we we knew this was coming. It's an

13:58

unfortunate part whenever there's a

14:00

merger happening. Again, we saw

14:02

much bigger layoff numbers happen once

14:04

Disney took over Fox. That was a bit of a

14:06

bigger deal. we are now seeing an

14:08

act. It's always unfortunate. It sucks

14:10

when anybody loses their gig, but

14:12

it is nature of the beach. You know, Aaron,

14:14

you hear about this. It's never good to hear about anybody

14:16

losing their jobs. this was expected.

14:18

What are your thoughts?

14:19

I mean, yeah. Really,

14:21

there what are the thoughts other

14:24

than you know, condolences and

14:26

this is a really tough economy to

14:29

be unemployed. And I know because

14:31

after every episode of Nancy Drew that I shoot

14:33

I am again unemployed. So,

14:36

you know, it is very

14:38

unfortunate. I hope that

14:41

all of these people, given their

14:43

background, given the fact that they've worked for a

14:45

company as successful as Warner Bros.

14:47

have many opportunities to take their illustrious

14:50

talents to another place that

14:52

can have a home

14:53

for their for their abilities. Chris,

14:55

you hear about this. Again, and listen,

14:57

Hollywood's a small town really. Like, we all

14:59

probably know people who are gonna be impacted

15:01

by this. What were your thoughts? I mean,

15:02

it's a it's an absolute shame this happens though because

15:05

of that kind of duplication of efforts. Right?

15:07

And at the Goldman Sachs conference, they were

15:09

talking about how this is going to

15:11

theoretically, say six million dollars

15:13

just because of that lack of duplication of efforts.

15:15

So it makes sense. Right? We're getting rid of

15:17

people or six billion. Excuse me. We're

15:19

getting rid of people who have similar jobs

15:21

to other people. It's still a shame though. What

15:23

I'm still really, really wondering

15:25

though about Warner Bros. right now is, yes, they're

15:27

doing a lot of things to save money. Yes, they're doing a

15:29

lot of things to cut costs and get them back

15:31

to where they need to be financially. But I

15:33

wanna see what this studio is gonna be

15:35

creating.

15:35

Yeah. But know, we've talked about this

15:37

before, though, like -- Yeah. -- the ax is

15:41

instant recognition. When when the ax falls

15:43

and something is cut off, that's instant.

15:45

Mhmm. it's gonna take us two to three

15:47

years to really see what the

15:49

creation is going to be. Yeah. And

15:50

this is obviously just been writing on the wall,

15:53

especially after we saw them just kinda jettisoned

15:55

so much stuff off the streaming apps. We're not

15:57

paying residuals on those things. We're not paying

15:59

usage fees on those anymore. So all these layoffs

16:01

were just, you know,

16:01

waiting to happen. It's just a shame

16:04

all part of the plan. Anyway, guys, question is

16:06

for you. It's unfortunate when you hear

16:08

about stuff like this, but when big mergers

16:10

happen of companies, you knew it was coming. but

16:12

it looks like Warner Bros. has started the layoff process.

16:14

Is there anything in this story that really stands out

16:16

to you? Whatever that is, jump down to the

16:18

17:55

let's move on to our newest segment here on

17:57

the show, our Mint Mobile

17:59

hotline

17:59

question of the If you've got a question or

18:02

topic you'd like to bring up here, you don't just have the

18:04

option to write it in. You can actually

18:06

phone it in if you'd like and have your voice on

18:08

our show, call the hotline number

18:10

at 9512684259

18:15

and just might hear your

18:17

voice on the show. So Jonathan, what's

18:19

our mid mobile hotline question of the day

18:21

today? Hey, John.

18:22

This is Dane from Las Vegas.

18:24

Look. I love NatRez's Batman

18:26

movie, Rock, Pen since my new favorite

18:28

Batman. And given that DCW1

18:31

emerge are going through some changes, and

18:33

with the Batman's popularity, I would

18:35

love to see Robert Patterson's Batman

18:37

branch out past just making Batman

18:39

movies and maybe create a new

18:41

DC universe and see him interact with different version of the Justice

18:43

League. Is that an unpopular opinion?

18:45

And is it a long shot? Alright.

18:47

Thanks a lot for

18:47

sending that in. First of all, the

18:50

whole concept of, say,

18:52

Matt Reeves rebuilding

18:54

a DCU around the

18:57

Robert Patterson Batman character,

18:59

which came out to incredible

19:02

success. Number one, is that an

19:04

unpopular opinion? No. It's just

19:06

not necessarily an unpopular opinion. Actually,

19:08

I've heard a number of people suggesting something

19:10

like that. And right now, with

19:12

the state that Warner Brothers is in, they are

19:14

in a state of flux with their DC properties.

19:16

They're looking for a new head of

19:18

they're they're kind of re envisioning what

19:20

the whole thing is going to be with the DCU.

19:22

So yeah, this is the good time.

19:25

However,

19:25

I'm gonna say this.

19:27

it wouldn't happen happen, and

19:29

it shouldn't happen. And

19:31

the reason I say it wouldn't and shouldn't

19:33

happen is because of this.

19:36

that Matt Reeves Batman that he has

19:38

created is unique

19:41

in his world. I don't

19:43

see that Batman with

19:46

a goddess from

19:47

themyscira, with a magical

19:49

golden lasso that makes people tell

19:52

the truth. I don't see

19:54

that gritty, rooted in

19:56

as

19:56

much of reality as a fantasy like this

19:58

can be on screen

20:01

with a dude in a red suit with a yellow

20:03

lightning bolt that runs faster than the

20:05

speed of light. I don't

20:07

see that this grounded,

20:09

rooted, gritty, Batman

20:11

characters he created and in

20:13

this this world that Matt Reeves has created

20:15

can be the same home in same

20:17

world of an alien from a distant

20:19

planet who gain superpowers from the

20:21

radiation of a yellow sun.

20:23

I just don't see it. I

20:25

mean, Batman is a pivotal character in

20:28

DC with a justice league knowledge and stuff.

20:30

Absolutely. But this Batman that

20:32

he's created, I just don't think that

20:34

works with other superheroes.

20:38

At least super powered superheroes. I don't think this

20:40

Batman works in a world with the super

20:42

fantastical going on. I don't know.

20:44

Chris, we've already bring brought up

20:46

before because The Batman still is

20:48

my second favorite movie of the year. I I

20:50

mean, I love this movie, but can

20:52

you build a new DCU around it, do

20:54

you think?

20:54

I mean, you could, but then you'd have to jettison some many

20:57

other things. And I love a lot of this stuff in

20:59

DC right now. I adore

21:02

Shazam. I

21:02

love the Sam family. Sam so

21:04

much. I can't wait for that movie. Stop pushing

21:06

it back. Give me the movie. That is

21:08

so good. I really, really enjoy Aquaman.

21:11

I think Jason Momo is so fun in that role.

21:13

I've really, really loved, you know,

21:15

the the first wonder woman. But our

21:17

first wonder woman. The first one. First one.

21:19

Yes. Anyone? Mhmm. There some icky stuff that

21:21

I didn't like. There's some issues. That that's

21:24

not your boyfriend. Stop it.

21:26

And this

21:28

is so great, but it does feel like it's in

21:30

a very different world. Part of what I think is

21:32

happening though too is I'm wondering if we

21:34

do need a cohesive DC universe. Right? because

21:36

one of the things I love about DC Comics

21:38

is that I feel like they've always done a

21:41

slightly better job of

21:43

spanning various genres and tonalities

21:45

than Marvel sometimes has. Marvel certainly has been able to play

21:47

with things, you know, like, their noir series and

21:49

stuff like that and setting things in a grittier

21:51

way, you know, a lot of old man login stuff. But,

21:53

t c feels like it's been able to

21:55

just, like, really play with

21:57

their materials. And I feel like the film

21:59

universe could do that too and have things a little

22:01

separated. They don't have to fit together like puzzle

22:03

pieces for me to have a fun time watching

22:05

them. So

22:05

Aaron, not only did you watch the Batman

22:08

with us, but it was baby Tommy's

22:10

first movie theater going experience versus the

22:12

Batman. And do you think I am mother of

22:14

the year. If anybody wants

22:15

to know how to raise a sociopath, I'm

22:18

gonna show you in real time. We're

22:20

getting yelled more than Tommy. Do

22:22

you think

22:22

that this Batman, this Robert Pence Batman,

22:25

could be, say, the cornerstone of a of a

22:27

wider superhero DC extended

22:30

universe world? No. III

22:30

don't think that it could be I

22:33

mean, here's the thing. Anything's possible,

22:35

of course, but for the same reasons, why

22:37

that both of you just named, but also

22:39

I imagined this Batman as

22:41

being, you know, his his whole persona can

22:43

be summed up by the

22:45

immortal words of Kiwi Herman. I'm a

22:48

loner. I'm a rebel daddy. Like, that's

22:50

what I feel is coming from

22:52

him. doesn't play well with others,

22:54

you know. I mean, even catwoman is

22:56

trying to, like, pull a little bit of personality out of

22:58

him. And I that's what I love about him. I like the

23:00

fact that he is that he is

23:02

a loner and that he does

23:05

not really wanna be around a lot

23:07

of other people. And I don't see

23:09

him fitting into a

23:11

group of crime fighters. I I

23:13

kinda see him doing his own thing, and

23:16

if we try to mush

23:18

him together with other characters that

23:20

are already established and are doing

23:22

their own thing, It just

23:24

is it's it's going to change

23:27

the lightness and the

23:29

thing that we love about those

23:31

characters like Suzanne, for example, or

23:33

it's gonna water down this,

23:35

you know you know, emo

23:37

Batman that I'm really kinda digging right now.

23:39

I want him to go on his own solo adventure

23:42

and and see what he comes up with on his own. I

23:44

don't really need him watering himself down.

23:46

For anyone other than cat women

23:48

because that's some sexy stuff. Now,

23:49

I can see this Batman

23:51

working with other non super

23:53

powered characters. Like, I could see you introducing

23:56

other Batman catalog

23:59

characters that are not super powered

24:01

characters. I can sort of see that to a degree,

24:03

but is anyone coming to

24:04

mind for you? Well, I mean,

24:06

like, you could talk about you could do something

24:09

like a deathstroke.

24:11

You could do something like we've

24:13

talked before a bit about KGB. So you

24:15

could do something like you'd have to change the story up a little bit, but

24:17

like a nightwing or or something other members

24:19

of the BAT family could be in there too.

24:22

But to me, it's It's

24:24

about more than Robert Penson's

24:27

Batman. It's the world

24:29

-- Got it. -- that matters. so difficult. Yeah.

24:31

That does not feel like there were gods and

24:33

goddesses running around. But I I know. Listen, I know a

24:35

lot of you guys probably have a difference of opinion on

24:37

that. If love if you do, I'd love to hear it. Whatever

24:39

your guys' thoughts are on that, jump down to the

24:41

comment section below and leave those

24:43

thoughts there. Alright, guys.

24:44

You know what? I'm in such a good mood for

24:46

meeting Weir Valley yesterday. Let's do another

24:49

midpoint of my question today,

24:51

Shahu. And what's our second one today,

24:53

Jonathan? God,

24:54

it is I. saw

24:58

on Florida. And I'm just

25:00

wondering, John, when do you think that

25:02

they're actually going to show me

25:04

in this show based

25:06

around me and the six

25:08

other movies or however many

25:10

they've made and they've really only

25:12

shown me for about five

25:14

minutes in my physical form, maybe ten

25:17

minutes. Okay. Bye.

25:18

Sauron would be hiding in Florida.

25:23

That tracks. That that

25:27

yeah. That that adds up. That that sounds

25:29

in Florida. Alright. So it's

25:31

you know what? It's

25:33

a really good question.

25:36

Because it stretches beyond the current

25:38

rings of power show, when

25:40

you go back to the Peter Jackson Lord of the

25:43

Ringsfilms, Sauron is

25:44

always a concept. I mean,

25:46

not always, but most of the time he's just

25:49

a concept. sometimes you hear Oh,

25:51

geez. Job. Or or

25:53

you see the the the eye or

25:55

whatever. But it's very very

25:57

rare that you actually see

25:59

him in his physical form. There

26:02

was actually one extra shot

26:05

of Sauron in his physical form. If you remember

26:07

at the end of return of the king, as

26:09

Aragorn is leading the

26:12

armies in a false frontal

26:14

attack on on

26:17

Mordor. At one point

26:19

in the movie, you see Aragorn

26:21

fighting like this giant troll

26:24

thing. that's toss him around a little bit and

26:26

ultimately wins. Well, in the

26:28

original shot, that was

26:30

Sauron, he was fighting. and

26:32

they decided and there are animatics of

26:34

this out there that exist. You

26:36

can see the you find the footage of it.

26:38

And they ultimately decided Sauron

26:41

shouldn't be there physically fighting Aragorn,

26:43

so they see GI that monster

26:45

over it instead. It's really kind of interesting. We had

26:47

really we get very little of Sauron.

26:50

course, now that we're in rings of power,

26:52

that same thing is kind of there. Sauron is

26:54

this this idea.

26:56

He's he's

26:56

this looming threat.

26:59

but we

26:59

really haven't seen much of him through

27:02

the first three episodes. And

27:04

I'll be honest with you, I don't

27:06

expect that we're gonna see him anytime soon.

27:09

I don't even know that I expect we're gonna see

27:11

him in the first season at all. I there might be

27:13

some flashback stuff, whatever. because we've already seen

27:15

a few moments of flashback stuff, like

27:17

with him in that ice palace

27:20

with the Orcs rallying

27:22

around him. But I don't think we're gonna see much. I think they're gonna

27:24

treat him the same way they did in the movies. And maybe

27:26

once we get into the latter seasons,

27:28

they'll bring him more to become a more dominant

27:30

character. But I

27:33

suspect and

27:33

I'm guessing that we're not gonna

27:34

see much at all the first season. Chris, what do you

27:37

think? I

27:37

don't think so. I think part of Sauron's whole

27:39

thing is the intangibility. because an

27:41

idea is so much more terrifying than an actual corporeal

27:44

being. So if we are to see him

27:46

in CNN one, it'd be the

27:48

very end. a little a little taste to

27:50

get you ready for season two because it's five seasons

27:52

total. Right? That's

27:52

what they say. That we're planning on.

27:54

So, yeah, I don't I don't think you you

27:56

bring out Sauron yet. No. You

27:58

don't blow your load like that. Come on, guys.

27:59

Good time. Give it time.

28:02

Alright, guys. Question is for you. What

28:04

do you Do you think we're gonna see

28:06

Sauron anytime soon? Maybe

28:08

look, maybe tomorrow night he pops up in

28:10

the very next episode. a lot.

28:12

Maybe. I gotta feel it's not gonna be for a while. How

28:14

do you think they should be handling it? Whatever you

28:16

guys think, jump down to the comment section below

28:19

and leave your thoughts

28:21

there. Alright, guys. With

28:23

that down, let's now move on

28:25

to our main topics here today. But before we

28:27

get to those, we wanna take a second and thank

28:29

another sponsor of today's show. Good folks doing

28:31

good work over at better help. Hey,

28:34

guys. We wanna think one of the sponsors to

28:36

today's video better help

28:38

Let me ask you something. How well would you take care of your

28:40

car if you knew that was going to be

28:42

the only car you ever had for your entire

28:45

life? Well, that's how our brains and

28:47

our minds work. So why don't we treat

28:49

them the same way? Because how we take care

28:51

of our minds will affect how we

28:53

experience life. So it's important to invest

28:55

time and care into keeping it healthy. Now

28:57

there are plenty of ways to support a healthy

28:59

brain like learning a new language or

29:01

taking power naps, but there's also

29:03

better help online therapy. Now, I've

29:05

talked about this before, but I've never understood

29:07

this stigma attached to people wanting to seek

29:09

out ways to improve their mental health.

29:11

When somebody decides to go to the gym to

29:13

improve their physical health, we think

29:15

that's great. Well, that's the same way we need

29:17

to look at taking care of our mental

29:19

health as well. Better help is online

29:21

therapy that offers video, phone,

29:23

and even live chat only therapy

29:25

sessions. So you don't have to see anyone on camera if you're

29:27

not comfortable with that. And it's much

29:29

more affordable than in person

29:31

therapy. So guys listen right now, the John Campio Show viewers

29:33

and listeners get ten percent off their

29:35

first month at better help dot

29:38

com slash campia. That's betterhelp HELP

29:41

dot com slash

29:44

campia. And thank you to our friends

29:46

at betterhelp for not only doing the stuff

29:48

that they do, but for being a sponsor

29:50

of the John Campio Show.

29:52

Okay, guys. With that let's

29:54

get into our main topics here today and here's how we select

29:56

our main topics. You guys come up with

29:58

our main topics. Whenever you guys come across a

30:00

big topic issue or story that you

30:03

guys feel we should cover as a main topic on the show.

30:05

Just go anytime twenty four seven over

30:07

to WWW dot the john campiestow

30:09

dot com slash contact.

30:11

Once you guys get there, you're gonna see a form

30:14

filling out with your topic of question. It's

30:16

absolutely free. Hit submit

30:18

and then maybe. just

30:19

maybe. You might see your

30:20

submission featured as a main topic

30:23

here on the John Campier show.

30:25

With

30:25

that down,

30:26

Aaron. What is our first main topic

30:29

today?

30:29

This one comes to us from Benson.

30:31

I was really interested in the Maryland

30:33

and Row Flicks movie blonde as soon as I

30:35

heard that Anida Armist was going to be in it.

30:37

I thought it was perfect casting, but

30:39

man, the reviews are coming out and now I

30:41

am not so sure It looks like the critic

30:43

ratings are solid, but they're all saying it's

30:46

completely brutal and a tough watch.

30:48

Wondering if you guys saw the reviews yet and what

30:50

you thought of

30:50

them. Thanks. Alright. Thanks a lot for sending that

30:53

in, Benson. And I remember when

30:55

they had wrapped production

30:57

on Blonde a while ago, a

30:59

story came out about that it was gonna be pretty visceral. Mhmm. It

31:01

it was going to the the

31:03

the director said at the time that one of

31:05

the things that that they were really

31:07

really going for is to emotionally force

31:10

the audience to feel it.

31:12

And at the time, I mean, it

31:14

III understand

31:17

that that mentality because there have been

31:19

movies that have happened where, like, really

31:21

horrific things happen. and I

31:24

come out and I and I feel like as an audience member to

31:26

feel the things I needed to feel

31:28

to really get the outrage

31:31

or anger or the horror or the despair

31:33

or whatever, eyes and audience member

31:35

needed to experience that to really get

31:37

it. There was actually a

31:39

movie called that Peter Jacksonville

31:42

did. Oh, the one he

31:43

did with Mark Wallberg, what was the name

31:45

of that one again?

31:46

with with where the

31:48

young girl gets murdered by Stanley Touche? Lovely

31:51

bones. The lovely bones. Thank you.

31:53

I remember watching

31:54

the lovely bones, and I

31:57

Specifically, I remember saying in my

31:59

review, I

31:59

almost wish they had shown the

32:02

murder because the cause After

32:04

the

32:05

murder, I

32:06

never really saw Stanley

32:09

Tucci as

32:09

the monster I think I needed to see

32:12

him as. and

32:13

I think there's something about experiencing

32:16

something of that horror. Now that

32:18

that is not a blanket statement

32:21

for everything, not at all. It's just that there are

32:23

some situations where I think that should

32:25

apply, and some situations where

32:27

maybe it doesn't. But yeah, the

32:29

reviews are coming out for blond,

32:31

and they are very good,

32:34

but also very trepidationous.

32:36

This, for example, comes to us from

32:38

the folks over a GQ, and and

32:40

they wrote the following. This

32:43

is simply the opening salvo and a

32:45

torrent of cruelty suffered by

32:47

Norma Jean, that's of course Marilyn

32:49

Monroe. Who he next meet as

32:51

Marilyn Monroe? the up and coming starlet cast as it

32:53

dips by the men's surrounding

32:55

her. The nightmare continues. As

32:57

an early audition for a studio

32:59

contract, she's raped by a

33:01

studio executive viewed in

33:03

unflinching fashion by Dominic's

33:05

camera. Blonde keeps us in

33:07

this version of Monroe's perspective

33:09

at all times. At almost three hours

33:11

long, it unfolds as the final death

33:13

vision of a woman rendered an

33:15

object to be consumed, to

33:17

be ugled. endlessly raped and

33:19

devastated and brutalized, the

33:21

material is is uncomfortable enough.

33:23

But Blonde's technical flourishes only

33:25

doubled down on the sadism.

33:27

It is disturbingly beaut it let me try this

33:29

again. It is a disturbingly beautiful

33:31

picture, lit framed and haasely

33:34

conceived like the product of a lurid sleep

33:36

paralysis, which by the way,

33:38

GQ. Well done in your

33:40

Yeah. I like you should. And

33:43

this is one of these

33:45

things where it's like, you're right.

33:48

Excited

33:48

to see this. I

33:51

It it it promises to be an

33:53

experience. This

34:22

34:26

34:28

34:30

34:34

34:47

is it an experience

34:48

I wanna

34:50

know? And then I asked myself, I have

34:52

these moral dilemmas. I have these moral

34:54

dilemmas of Like, because on the one, I think, okay,

34:56

I wanna see it. But then I think, oh, but it's gonna show

34:58

some bad stuff, so I don't know that I want

35:00

to. And then there's there's an

35:02

ethical dilemma of me. It's like, hey

35:05

asshole. She's the one who went through it

35:07

and people

35:08

should bloody

35:09

well understand what she actually went

35:11

through and not the pretty

35:13

deep. Oh, she had some rough she had

35:15

a rough go of it. No.

35:17

We're gonna show you what she

35:19

had to endure. and you bloody

35:21

well are gonna understand it. I then I I don't know. I I

35:24

feel I feel torn by that. So again,

35:26

like I said earlier, I think for

35:28

some movies, that

35:30

is

35:30

kinda necessary. But for other movies, it's

35:32

not. Having not seen Blonde

35:35

myself, I cannot say whether it's

35:37

one or the other. But

35:40

it does make me feel like when I'm

35:42

gonna watch it, I feel like

35:43

I'm gonna keep my remote control in my

35:46

hand, getting ready to either

35:48

mute or turn it

35:50

off or I mean, I mean, I just

35:52

don't know. I mean, but it

35:54

sounds like it certainly sounds

35:56

like an ambitious project one way or the other.

35:58

Anyway, Chris, that you're hearing about this. We did talk about this project

36:00

before -- Mhmm. -- and similar themes, but

36:02

it sounds like they really swung

36:04

for the

36:05

fences on it. What's

36:07

your reaction to hearing your reviews are coming out? The lesson

36:09

we talked about here was here. Let's

36:11

see

36:11

here. So, I

36:14

mean, it's wonderful to hear that this is a very well

36:16

done film and that people think

36:18

that it is executed

36:20

well. Three

36:22

hours And I'm told that

36:24

it's endless, like, constant rape

36:26

and things like that. And I'm sure it's not

36:28

three hours of just that, obviously. But that

36:31

obviously does make me not

36:34

stoked to watch that

36:36

movie. There are films like Monster, like

36:38

Room that were important for me

36:40

to see and then never see

36:42

again. Right. And I feel like this is gonna be one of those films. because my

36:44

concern this whole time and and Aaron spoke to this

36:46

really, really beautifully last time was that this

36:48

was a person who was exploited their

36:50

entire life entire

36:52

career, does this film

36:54

continue that exploitation, or is it

36:56

honoring it? And I think we won't know it

36:58

until we actually see it.

37:00

Right? So I'm

37:02

gonna That's gonna be a

37:04

big day. That's gonna be a day where I can't see any

37:06

other people and I'm gonna sit down and watch this film and

37:08

just think

37:09

about it for a while because it's gonna

37:11

be a rough watch. She has a should be note here.

37:13

We be very clear. We are

37:15

not talking about the movie

37:16

because we haven't seen it yet. We're talking about our

37:18

reactions to the reactions to the

37:20

movie that we're seeing and how it's making us feel

37:22

going into it. But none of us

37:25

None of us. Right, Aaron? None of us

37:27

have seen this film yet. So just wanna be

37:29

very, very clear about that. Anyway, Aaron, you were here

37:31

the last time we talked about this

37:33

several months ago. the reviews are now coming out, and it

37:35

it sounds like that's what they did. I don't

37:38

know. What's what's your response to the reactions we're

37:40

hearing from the critics on this right now?

37:42

You know, The

37:43

role of a filmmaker when

37:45

you're gonna tell a story

37:47

is to think of Chris

37:50

Carr and ask yourself For

37:52

why? Is it to

37:54

inspire like hidden figures

37:56

or forest gum? Is

37:58

it to suppose a

38:00

truth like bombshell, all

38:02

the president's men, or Aaron

38:04

Brokovich, is it, you know, to

38:07

excite and to titillate, like, maybe

38:09

Thor or one of the, you know, is it is

38:11

it to to quicken a heartbeat,

38:13

whatever the point is, you have to

38:15

ask yourself that.

38:18

And I look at this and I go

38:20

for why? Why do we

38:22

need a movie that depicted a

38:26

woman who was

38:28

raped and brutalized by the entertainment

38:30

industry because guess what? We have

38:32

lots of stories like that still continuing to

38:34

this day. I know someone who was raped

38:37

by a studio executive. You all do,

38:39

except what happens is when those women

38:41

come forward, we go, well, it hasn't

38:43

been proven in court. and it starts

38:45

all that stuff. Mhmm. So now in hindsight in her death, we're gonna

38:47

go, well, it's the truth. Well, we

38:50

see that truth

38:52

still happening. Every

38:54

single person watching this show knows

38:56

someone who has been raped. And if you don't know someone

38:58

who's been raped is because they haven't told you.

39:00

So that's a reality. And personally, I don't feel

39:02

like we need I don't need to watch

39:05

a woman get brutally raped over and over

39:07

and over again in a movie. just

39:10

because it quote is the truth. Just like I don't

39:12

need to watch children being beaten,

39:14

just like I don't need

39:16

to watch animals being abused, just

39:19

like I don't need to see certain things.

39:22

And there is an entire

39:24

segment of, like, a dark

39:26

corner of the porn world that

39:28

is dedicated two films

39:30

in that show women being raped.

39:32

And to me, this is just

39:34

a high gloss version

39:36

of that. Because, yes, Maryland

39:38

Monroe's life did have a lot of

39:40

tragedy. But I grew up

39:42

idolizing her. I had posters of her on my wall

39:44

because when I

39:46

saw her, in in how to marry a

39:48

millionaire or a gentleman wear

39:50

a gentleman love her lawns,

39:52

prefer her lawns.

39:54

Thank you. I saw a

39:56

woman who played the

39:58

ditts because it's the easiest way to

40:00

manipulate dumb men. And I

40:02

was like, wow, she's so smart.

40:05

Like, I and I don't need to see the

40:07

story of Marilyn Monroe getting brutalized. I

40:10

wanna see the story of how did she fall in

40:12

love with

40:14

DiMaggio? What was her connection with Arthur

40:16

Miller that made them fall in love? You

40:18

know, what were and also,

40:20

why was she, of all, if

40:22

you watch any movie from the nineteen

40:24

forties, she wasn't the most beautiful

40:26

woman. There's hundreds

40:28

of chorus girls that could have been lift

40:31

did up out of obscurity and

40:33

made into a star if it just

40:35

took, you know, sleeping with the right

40:37

executive or

40:37

being raped by, you know, a

40:39

monster. What was about

40:40

Marilyn Monroe that made

40:42

her so special that she

40:44

became an icon that to

40:47

this day Why don't we tell that story? because if you just

40:49

wanna tell a story about a woman

40:51

being brutalized and raped, you can turn on

40:53

the news. That happens every single

40:55

day. We can't can't

40:56

and and again, I I've not seen the Fisher. I I don't disagree with you. I haven't seen the movie.

40:58

But let me let me ask you this. Mhmm. Playing

41:00

devil's advocate. You bring up the fact that

41:02

there's a lot

41:03

of stuff that goes on

41:06

today. But most of the time and a lot of time, it gets swept under the rug and

41:08

it gets ignored. What if they were

41:10

to say or come to your we watch this

41:12

film film whatever and say, Seeing

41:15

this film will make people look at the

41:17

at the world today differently. Like,

41:19

if if they say we wanted to show this because

41:21

we think it's important that people understand that this is what

41:23

happens to people. People get victimized, and people

41:26

get whatever, and you need to

41:28

take that and

41:30

overlaid on what happens in our industry and everything

41:32

today. I don't know. If if that was their approach

41:34

and again, none of us have seen this film, but if

41:36

that was their approach, How

41:38

would you feel about that? Okay. Well, I

41:40

still would not feel like it's appropriate

41:42

or okay to take an actual

41:44

living person. You can tell that or

41:48

excuse me. an actual person who once was living and is now

41:50

not in a position to be able to say,

41:52

yes, I give you the rights to tell

41:54

my story. you know, like,

41:56

you look at Elton John, for

41:58

example, and Rocketman, the

41:59

his his biopic, which I

42:01

know you're not a huge fan of biopic. but

42:03

he said, I want you to show the I want you to show

42:05

the depravity of when I was doing drugs. I want

42:07

you to show how bad it was. He

42:09

gave his blessing for

42:12

that. there's no one speaking up on Maryland's behalf. can tell story

42:14

about how terrible rape is. You

42:16

don't have to use a woman who

42:20

was you know, objectified

42:22

her entire life to tell that

42:24

story. Alright,

42:25

guys. Question is for you.

42:27

There's a lot stuff coming out now about the film. We knew it was

42:29

going to be controversial and it was, and it sounds like that's

42:32

exactly what it's going to be. The critics

42:34

are saying it's a

42:36

good film. It's a

42:37

hard film. And and how comfortable are we gonna be to watch it? Guys, if

42:39

you guys have a thought on this, whatever those thoughts are,

42:41

jump down to the comment section

42:44

below. and

42:44

leave those thoughts there. Alright, guys.

42:47

With

42:47

that down, let's move on to main

42:49

topic number two.

42:52

Eric,

42:52

there What is

42:53

our second main topic today? Our

42:55

second main topic comes to us from

42:57

the Victor's pants. Well, boom.

42:59

This isn't the press HBO and

43:01

succession wanted after their big Emmy win. The star of the

43:03

show, Brian Cox, was asked a simple

43:06

question about how long succession

43:08

could run, and

43:10

he used it as an opportunity to trash another show,

43:12

Billions, by calling it outdated. I

43:14

wanted to know if you agree with him and what

43:16

you think of his comments. Thanks.

43:18

Alright. Thanks a lot for sending that in. And,

43:20

yeah, of course, yesterday, we're talking big, big day for succession,

43:23

took home the biggest prize. best

43:26

series, best drama series. Again, I think it's the second

43:28

time that the show won that. Brian Cox has,

43:30

of course, won the Emmy for playing Logan in that

43:32

show and all that guy's up in.

43:36

steer too. Brian Cox has been known

43:38

and say some things. Some

43:40

not so great

43:41

things about people who are not

43:44

Brian Cox. And

43:46

you're right coming off

43:48

this big win for HBO

43:52

and Succession Brian

43:54

Cox decided to throw another show

43:58

unnecessarily under

43:58

the bus. So here's the basic

44:00

thing. Brian Cox was asked about how

44:03

long the show can run, and, well,

44:05

this comes us from deadline. Brian

44:07

Cox was asked by the Times of London

44:09

about a potential fifth season for

44:11

the hit show because, of course, we were getting ready

44:13

for the fourth season to come out. About a

44:16

potential

44:16

fifth season for the hit show, which

44:18

last night won best drama from the TV

44:20

Academy. I don't

44:21

know. Cox responded. No one has

44:24

had their contracts renewed. Who

44:26

knows how long it will go on? We

44:28

don't want

44:28

it to overstate its welcome like

44:30

billions. That's passed itself by date. That

44:32

will not happen with our

44:35

show. Oh, Brian.

44:38

Shrods.

44:38

yeah shots fired.

44:40

Shot fired.

44:43

Okay. Let me respond

44:45

to that. First of

44:47

all, Brian Cox. who I

44:49

didn't even really first take notice of

44:52

until he was Stryker in

44:54

X Men two. That's when I really first

44:56

take notice of him. He

44:58

is one of the world's great actors.

45:00

He's fabulous in this

45:02

show. He's one is Emmy for

45:06

a reason. But you guys who watch my show

45:08

know that I don't

45:10

think

45:10

it's a director's place

45:12

to trash talk other

45:14

talk other directors directors. I

45:16

don't think it's an actor's place to trash

45:18

talk other actors. I don't

45:21

I

45:21

I think it's lesser YouTubers that

45:23

spend their time talking about

45:26

other YouTubers. I I just

45:27

don't think let let other people do

45:29

that. There's plenty of other people to do

45:31

that. And for Brian

45:33

Cox, a night

45:34

of victory,

45:36

on a

45:37

night of

45:39

heights on

45:41

a night where they're

45:43

literally holding gold in their

45:46

hands

45:46

to take a question

45:48

and say, Well, yeah, we're not gonna do with

45:50

these storage slabs who should have been pulled off

45:52

life support a long time ago. And now

45:54

now I can't make commentary about whether I

45:56

think billion should still be going. I've seen

45:59

about four episodes of billions. Always liked what I saw,

46:01

but I've never had time to watch it. So I've

46:03

I've heard decent things about it, but whatever.

46:05

Paul Giammody's on it. I know that. That's

46:07

an academy actor right

46:10

there.

46:10

I'll

46:11

just say this. I'll

46:13

bet the next day Brian Cox wish he could have

46:16

said that differently because it was not appropriate for him

46:18

to say. I'm not gonna jump all over him and

46:20

say this makes him the grandest. I mean, it was

46:23

in in terms of dumb thing

46:26

said by celebrities. This is a little bit more benign,

46:28

but he shouldn't have said it.

46:30

It's the wrong thing to say. There was no need or

46:32

reason to to take shots at another

46:36

show. that's going on, like, especially on a night that you

46:38

just won best picture or best series

46:40

at the Emmy. So I don't know. Aaron,

46:43

You hear Brian Cox's I mean, is

46:45

he really Logan? Is that who he really is? I

46:47

don't know. What do you think about

46:50

this? Okay. if

46:51

I were an executive

46:53

at HBO, I

46:56

would probably say

47:00

now Brian Tisk Tisk.

47:02

But here's

47:02

a bottle of

47:03

vuve. Because let's face

47:06

it. This is probably one

47:08

of the

47:10

best ads for succession that you could have

47:12

possibly asked for. Mhmm. He plays

47:14

a curbsky little part on the

47:18

show. and he's being a curmudentially old fart on the red

47:20

carpet. And he's also taking

47:22

shots at their biggest

47:24

network or their biggest streaming

47:26

rival or not their biggest

47:27

streamer rival, but ace One of their rivals. One

47:29

of their rivals show time

47:31

and

47:31

show that they probably get compared to

47:34

quite a

47:36

lot. you know, and so I kinda go I can't

47:38

really fault the guy. I mean, there's something

47:41

even though I would not be

47:43

able to say that there's a certain

47:45

degree of liberty that, like, a crusty

47:48

old white dude who is just

47:50

like, I don't really care if you hire me or not. I

47:52

you get what you get. I don't really care. I mean, he

47:54

doesn't care. He has zero f given,

47:57

and so he just says whatever he

47:59

wants to say and without and

48:01

and literally in one sentence, totally,

48:04

you know, built up the roll his

48:06

own role on his own show that just

48:08

won while giving a

48:11

little you know, dig to another show that

48:13

is laying on the ground without a without

48:15

AAA current award. So, I

48:17

mean, was it in good taste? Was

48:19

it something that I would encourage every actor to do?

48:21

No. But at the same time, do I

48:24

go, does

48:26

it speak volumes

48:28

for me wanting to watch the

48:30

next season of succession? Absolutely. I just

48:32

wanna see I'm just like,

48:34

you

48:35

just go off, dude. Yes. God. Although, there's

48:37

a problem. That statement could come

48:38

back to bite him in

48:39

the ass two years from

48:42

now. Like, if if succession

48:43

does go into season

48:46

six, Ben season seven. Oh, absolutely. Lawson, everybody's

48:48

gonna be bringing this this thing up about

48:50

this. But at at anyway, Chris, you

48:52

heard Brian's comments Is he

48:55

really Logan in real life? I don't know. What do you think about it? He is not blah blah blah

48:57

loving it. He's this

48:57

supposed so it's forcing for

49:00

McDonald's. We all need to

49:02

remember that. I think is

49:04

hilarious. I'm hoping that he was just being, like,

49:06

a cheeky little Scotsman. I was, like,

49:08

that's billions. I will

49:10

dive into my money pit. I

49:12

assume while Scottish people are screwed with that guy's campaign in Spanish.

49:19

That's what we do. That's what we do at Family Reans.

49:22

We dive into my I

49:24

think this is really funny, and you were saying it's

49:26

the best commercial for succession. It's kinda

49:28

the best commercial not lie. I didn't

49:31

know that was still a

49:33

thing. Yeah. So I didn't

49:35

speak to the quality. But

49:38

I I'm hoping it was a more cheeky shots fired. I'm gonna have to

49:41

listen to the actual clip. But, I mean, Brian Cox,

49:43

I think I mean, we might

49:46

be efforts with Paul Giamotti. We don't know. Like, that would

49:48

be funny if he That's that's true. He

49:50

he was just stating his opinion on a

49:54

show out of nowhere. But you know what? Maybe it'll help billions. Maybe

49:56

they'll be like, okay. Let's step our game up. So

49:58

are you, usually, you say those tough love?

49:59

I'm a frank love. love

50:02

love. Oh,

50:04

no. Not your game's millions. Love. Yeah. But I

50:06

just think he was just given his opinion on a show.

50:08

And and it just proves that he's watching it.

50:13

him about that. Yeah. The whole thing about

50:14

and this is the thing that everybody always

50:16

says is, well, it's just an

50:18

opinion. Well, opinions are like

50:21

assholes. Okay? Most people don't wanna see them and most

50:23

of them stinks. So why

50:26

bother sharing it? Okay? Nobody asks you

50:28

about billions. they just said, do you think

50:30

you're gonna do another seat? That's

50:31

the thing. Nobody else will

50:33

do. Which is hilarious. I

50:36

think that's what I'm thinking about it. Billions. Here's me. BILLions.

50:39

Here's what the real message here. Look,

50:41

the other thing is this. Bryan,

50:43

you were alluding this, Ben Aaron? Brian Cox is

50:46

seventy six years old. Yeah. Yeah. He

50:48

has his Emmy now and

50:50

he's on

50:50

his on arguably I think

50:52

it's Yellowstone,

50:53

but he's on arguably the best show in the

50:55

world -- Mhmm. -- at the moment.

50:57

He just might

50:58

just might Like

50:59

that that that line on the road

51:02

five miles back was his give a shit line.

51:04

Yeah. He's way past it. I I the

51:06

part of it might be he's way

51:08

past it. I still do think the folks at HB0 and say,

51:10

hey, listen. It's it's

51:12

maybe not for

51:12

no reason talk shit about other

51:15

shows. I don't know. But I I

51:18

don't know. Guys, whatever you guys think

51:20

about this, what do you think about Brian Cox's

51:22

comments, whatever those

51:24

thoughts are? jump down into the comment section below leave

51:26

those

51:26

thoughts there. Okay, guys.

51:29

Before

51:29

we move on, to

51:31

our next couple of topics. Let's take another second because

51:33

51:35

53:41

shiny, sweet, clean. I'm just

53:44

Manscape makes you feel like billions. My

53:47

53:49

My mom watches this show, so I'm gonna leave

53:51

my comments about Tom and his Manscape

53:53

53:55

Thank you again to our friends of Manscape. We're

53:57

sponsoring this episode of The John Kavy

53:59

Show. Oh, seriously. Thank you. Paul, shiny.

54:01

Oh, Lord. Alright, man. with that

54:04

down. Let's move on to main topic

54:06

number three, shall we?

54:08

Aaron. Pull it together. What is

54:10

our third main

54:12

topic today? This comes to us from Jake

54:13

Starr with two r's. Hany, John and crew,

54:15

I was reading an article yesterday of an interview

54:17

with the director of Captain

54:20

America New World Order, and he

54:22

confirmed that the genre of cap four

54:24

will be a paranoid thriller

54:26

similar to what winter soldier was

54:28

classified as. Does this give you any hope that this movie will live up to a

54:30

winter soldier gave us with a similar tone

54:32

and style? Or do you think it will be

54:34

completely different?

54:36

Thanks. And as always, bring on we're bringing it,

54:38

especially today. Listen,

54:41

I still remember

54:44

Sorry. I still got Cheez Balls. Mhmm. You do that. John

54:46

has Cheesy Balls. I probably use the toner that. Cheesy Balls.

54:49

I mean, that's where

54:52

you at. So

54:54

I I still remember

54:56

the first time I

54:58

walked out of the very

55:00

first press screening of Captain America Winter

55:03

Soldier. And they had talked

55:04

a big talk going to just say, this is

55:07

like a seventies political thriller. Okay. Yeah. Whatever.

55:09

It's gonna be a comic movie. And

55:11

I remember walking out. And I think I was

55:13

with Roth Cornet. I think me and me

55:16

and Roth came out. And we were just

55:18

like this. kinda like the way

55:20

when

55:20

when weird Al said he knew who I was. I'm like,

55:22

and then we were all just

55:24

stunned. Like, everybody all these people coming out of

55:26

the studio were like, what did we just

55:29

see? Like, it it was

55:31

an angle and an approach to a comic

55:33

movie that we had not really

55:35

seen done that way. I

55:35

mean, it's not that it was dark and heavier, you know,

55:38

dark knight had done that, but but like

55:40

that true seventies political

55:42

thriller feel like they said it and they

55:44

actually follow through on it. The idea of trying to go

55:47

back to that with the next

55:49

Captain America, which of

55:51

course we have someone new wearing the the the title of

55:53

it. Of course, now we've got Sam in there as

55:56

cap. But to

55:58

go back to that

55:59

notion, to that approach

56:02

is actually

56:02

kind of interesting. This comes to

56:04

us from Julius Ona who's going to be the

56:07

director of Captain America for. And

56:09

he said this, it's going to be

56:11

really, really, really incredible

56:14

ride. It's a paranoid thriller with Sam Wilson at

56:16

the center of it. and he is now in his

56:18

position where he's a leader. And he has

56:20

to deal with that challenge of what it means

56:22

to lead a group of people that he

56:24

really cares about. For Sam, beforehand, he was

56:27

part of the team, but now to be at

56:29

the head of the team is a

56:31

new set of challenges. So his journey

56:33

in this film is really about that. There's a lot we're

56:35

going to bring to the table. Again,

56:37

this is a new set of challenges

56:39

and a new set

56:41

of adversaries. So I love

56:44

classic paranoid thrillers and

56:46

that's part of the big inspiration for

56:48

this film. We wanna find

56:50

action that is grounded and

56:52

tactile and give them new things so you that

56:54

you haven't seen in those other films.

56:56

I don't wanna spoil too much, but let's just say that we are planning on some

56:58

really really exciting things. That, of course,

57:00

comes us from Julia Ona, who's gonna be

57:02

the director of Captain America

57:04

four. Now, hold

57:06

the

57:07

presses. Director says his movie's gonna be

57:09

great. Okay. Okay. Now you get

57:11

that. He's like, wow. No

57:13

kidding, really. But

57:16

still, to me, it

57:17

is encouraging to hear that they're gonna

57:19

kinda go back to that one thing

57:21

because it worked. And we

57:23

got to remember that this

57:26

version of Captain America, this new iteration of

57:28

Captain America was not

57:30

Steve Rogers. he

57:30

has no superpowers. He does not have

57:32

Steve's strength

57:34

and

57:34

speed and healing and agility. He

57:36

is a man with some great

57:40

technology, but he is just a man.

57:42

And so

57:42

going back to those roots of

57:44

that that thriller, of that paranoid thriller, by the

57:46

way, is is I wanna know what he means by

57:49

that. I

57:49

think it's a great approach because it worked for the last

57:51

cap and especially understanding Sam's power

57:53

sets or lack

57:55

thereof. I think an approach

57:56

in a theme like this will allow his

57:59

character to really come forward more

58:01

than his powers, which of course

58:03

he doesn't have any. So I

58:05

think this could be a really interesting approach. I gotta tell you what,

58:07

just hearing that made me actually more interested in this

58:09

next movie than I

58:12

was. before I heard it. Anyway, Aaron, you heard about this. What what do you

58:14

think about this approach and what the director's saying?

58:16

paranoid thriller, that's all

58:17

you had to say

58:20

I am in. I love a psychological thriller. I love

58:22

paranoia. I love people trying to figure

58:24

something out. You know, it reminds me of

58:26

movies like

58:28

Pie, bug, which if you haven't seen it on stage, you have to, and then

58:30

go watch Ashley Judd, and the wonderful Tracey

58:32

let's playbug, mentoring candidate, all

58:34

the president's men, which I talked about

58:38

earlier, you know, these types of films where you actually get

58:40

inside the mind of

58:42

the protagonist and you're feeling

58:45

the breath on their neck that they

58:47

are potentially imagining. Maybe it's

58:50

real. Maybe it's not. And especially with him

58:52

stepping into

58:54

such big shoes. I feel like the paranoid. And

58:56

also, like, it it's it's it's

58:58

inescapable, but he's not only stepping

59:00

into such

59:02

big shoes, but he's stepping into those

59:04

shoes as a black man. And I don't think that that's something that can be glossed over

59:06

or ignored, and it's gonna be really

59:08

interesting to see how that

59:12

also you know, colors,

59:14

excuse the like like like

59:16

like puts a different shade on

59:20

this story. of like how

59:22

he is interacting with the

59:24

world in this role. I'm

59:26

really excited about how if the

59:28

director is gonna take that what we're

59:30

gonna feel as an audience when we

59:32

are like experiencing those

59:34

emotions of like I said that

59:36

breath on his neck and how he is

59:38

going to be able to rise

59:40

above it and show himself to

59:42

be the true leader that we all

59:44

know or that I I personally believe

59:46

that Sam is. I'm I'm a big fan

59:48

of him in this

59:49

role and I wanna see more. You know, it's

59:51

it's interesting to use the filling shoes

59:53

because in this scenario, It's not

59:55

just Sam trying to step into the shoes of Steve Rogers.

59:58

It's ona as a director. He's

59:59

stepping into

1:00:03

The

1:00:03

Russo brothers shoes -- Mhmm. --

1:00:05

who did winter soldier and civil war, and then,

1:00:07

of course, the two Avengers movie. So there's a

1:00:09

lot of spilling in shoes on this one. Anyway,

1:00:11

Chris, you hear about What stands out to you? I love the

1:00:13

term

1:00:13

paranoid thriller because it's not paranoia if they're

1:00:16

out to get you.

1:00:18

That's alright. So I'm interested

1:00:20

to see how that's all gonna pan out because bouncing

1:00:22

off what Aaron was saying here too. I I enjoyed

1:00:24

Falcon and Winter Soldier a bit more than you.

1:00:26

Mhmm. And I thought that was a really

1:00:28

really great character study of the struggle of not only of an avenger,

1:00:30

not being able to get bank loans, not being able to

1:00:32

get, you know, that kind

1:00:34

of accreditation, but also just the

1:00:36

lens that he was looked at with because

1:00:38

he is not the blonde haired blue eyed

1:00:40

captain that is show

1:00:42

americana that everyone

1:00:44

literally trading carts of. Right? It's a very, very different kind of

1:00:46

role and it's big shoes to fill. Mhmm. Especially

1:00:48

when people have their own preconceived notions,

1:00:50

purchases, all

1:00:52

that stuff. So I'm really excited for us to go back to that winter soldier

1:00:54

formula because I do love boots on the

1:00:56

ground. Everyone's

1:00:56

out to get you a paranoid kind of

1:00:58

stuff. It's gonna be fun. Yeah. Alright, guys.

1:01:01

Question is for What do you think about the director's comments?

1:01:04

I I think it makes it pretty exciting.

1:01:06

How do you feel about it? Whatever those thoughts

1:01:08

are, jump down in the comment

1:01:10

section below. and

1:01:10

leave those thoughts there. Alright, guys.

1:01:13

With that

1:01:13

down, let's move

1:01:14

on to main topic number

1:01:17

four. Shall we? Karen. What

1:01:19

is our fourth main topic today?

1:01:21

This comes to us from Yasmeen.

1:01:23

Hey, everyone. Hey, I think this

1:01:26

one goes under the rumor column for now, but

1:01:28

I just read a really excited pro but

1:01:30

I just read a really excited prospect

1:01:32

for Avengers Secret Wars. The word

1:01:35

going around is that Black Panther director, Ryan Coogler, is in

1:01:37

talks to direct it. I think this would

1:01:39

be an inspired choice. What do you guys think of

1:01:41

Ryan Coogler directing Avengers?

1:01:44

Thanks. Alright.

1:01:44

Thanks a lot for sending that in Yasmeen. And look, let's say this

1:01:46

right out front. This is absolutely under the

1:01:49

rumor column. This is not a story that

1:01:51

has been coming out of variety

1:01:54

or the Hollywood reporter or deadline or or anything

1:01:56

like that. But you probably

1:01:58

saw some

1:01:58

headlines of this

1:01:59

making of this making the rounds the

1:02:02

rounds. The reason

1:02:02

I thought it would be interesting to bring up here. And again, with

1:02:04

the large caveat that this has to be kept under

1:02:06

the rumor thing, is those of

1:02:09

you guys who watch a basis. You guys remember a couple

1:02:11

a a while back shortly after

1:02:13

Comic Con. We Rob and I had

1:02:15

kind of an aside set

1:02:18

off of, you know, during the conversation mentioned that

1:02:20

that we had

1:02:21

heard from somebody

1:02:23

that Ryan Cooper was the one they were

1:02:26

looking at. I mean, listen, we

1:02:28

hear things from a lot of people all the time.

1:02:30

Many times, it doesn't end up

1:02:32

being anything at all. So, you know, we didn't make a

1:02:34

story out of it. We did we brought it up in

1:02:36

the conversation. So when I saw these headlines going around, I thought,

1:02:38

okay. Because I had heard

1:02:40

the same thing, it's at least

1:02:42

worth discussing. So

1:02:45

I am not sitting here telling you that Ryan Coogler is going to be the director

1:02:47

of Avengers: Secret Wars. But let's

1:02:49

talk about

1:02:51

that possibility. to

1:02:54

me,

1:02:54

it is actually

1:02:56

a

1:02:57

no brainer. I don't do

1:02:59

x director directing x

1:03:02

movie ideas. But in the context of the

1:03:04

MCU, I do not think other

1:03:06

than Stephen

1:03:08

Spielberg himself, do not think

1:03:10

there

1:03:10

would be a better choice to direct

1:03:12

this movie. Not only

1:03:14

because Ryan Coogler is already

1:03:17

firmly in the MCU.

1:03:20

Not only because he directed

1:03:22

the one MCU movie that got

1:03:24

nominated for best picture at the

1:03:26

Academy Awards, not only because he's one of the directors who

1:03:28

directed his MCU movie to a billion

1:03:30

plus dollar film, not

1:03:32

only because

1:03:33

he probably other

1:03:35

than avenger

1:03:35

Secret Wars, has directing the

1:03:38

most looked forward to an

1:03:40

exciting upcoming MC movie in Black

1:03:42

Panther Wakanda

1:03:44

forever. But also

1:03:44

because he has shown that

1:03:47

he is a world

1:03:49

class director even outside

1:03:51

of the MCU. Well,

1:03:53

like, he took creed, a movie that I

1:03:56

thought

1:03:56

was a dumb idea. Mhmm.

1:03:58

Totally

1:03:59

stupid idea. and

1:04:01

made it one of my favorite films of

1:04:03

the year.

1:04:04

What he did with Fruitvale station

1:04:06

-- Mhmm. -- also

1:04:07

working with Michael b George. which he

1:04:09

works with Michael b Jordan a lot. I mean, can you blame him? No. No.

1:04:11

Can't

1:04:11

blame him at

1:04:13

all. Wouldn't blame anybody. But

1:04:16

I

1:04:16

mean, Fruitvale station

1:04:17

showed, like, that was his calling car to the

1:04:19

world. It's like, I'm I'm for real

1:04:21

and I'm here. And

1:04:23

he has not done anything but

1:04:25

squad out excellence ever

1:04:28

since. So when you look

1:04:28

at a guy like that who has shown

1:04:30

he can do any kind of film. Fruitvale station

1:04:33

is

1:04:33

a very different movie from Creed, which

1:04:35

is a very different movie from Black

1:04:37

Panther. Any shows he

1:04:38

can crush it outside of the

1:04:41

MCU, and he's made one of more memorable movies inside

1:04:43

the MCU. He knows

1:04:46

this world, Kevin Feige trust

1:04:50

him implicitly he's won maybe a top ten director working right

1:04:52

now in the world.

1:04:54

And he's in

1:04:55

house. Mhmm. Why

1:04:57

not? So again, Let me be

1:04:59

very clear. I am not telling you that Ryan Kugler is directing Avengers

1:05:01

sequel wars. But I've heard

1:05:04

the whispers

1:05:06

too that certainly possibility, but I will tell you this, I don't think there's a better

1:05:08

choice. I don't I just I don't

1:05:10

think a better choice exists

1:05:12

outside of the name

1:05:14

Steven Spielberg. Other than that, he's

1:05:16

the perfect choice for this, I think. And I

1:05:18

think they'd be crazy. And right now, I would

1:05:20

expect that he's gonna be the name.

1:05:22

If if

1:05:22

yeah It's a gig he

1:05:23

wants. And I'm not a hundred percent

1:05:25

sold that it's a gig that Ryan Cooper would want.

1:05:27

But at any rate, Chris -- Mhmm. -- you hear

1:05:30

about this idea. Number one, what do you think chances

1:05:32

are that Orion Coogler would

1:05:34

be directing Avengers' Secret Wars, but

1:05:36

number two, and maybe more to our point

1:05:39

here today, Would he be a

1:05:40

good choice to drive? Oh, I know that

1:05:42

was not. What's

1:05:44

that? What

1:05:46

happened?

1:05:46

Oh,

1:05:48

I'm just posing because the camera's on me. Oh, okay. Sorry. I'm, like alright.

1:05:50

I I just I was telling you that if I did this, I

1:05:52

know that Jonathan might have to go

1:05:56

well. big Aaron's winding up for something. Okay.

1:05:58

No. No. No. No. No. Alright. So Chris, what

1:06:00

do we got here? I mean, I think he'd be

1:06:02

a great

1:06:02

choice for this, and it would make

1:06:05

sense to use him. Black Panther was

1:06:08

an Academy Award nominated

1:06:10

film. Why would you not want

1:06:12

that director at the helm for

1:06:14

this. Right? If you're doing your next

1:06:16

big kind of like tentpole film for your

1:06:18

epic franchise, you go with somebody who's

1:06:20

delivered before. and everyone is just

1:06:22

kind of, you know, fool me at the mouth about Black

1:06:24

Panther too. That trailer itself, the last

1:06:26

one we got.

1:06:26

Dude, it's so stunning. Oh, my gosh. It's

1:06:28

a avatar.

1:06:29

It's amazing. I love everything about it. So

1:06:31

it makes so much sense. And to have a directorial debut,

1:06:33

like a feature film debut, like Fruitfield

1:06:35

Station because it was all shorts before that for

1:06:37

him, I mean, he is so accomplished in

1:06:40

such a short amount of time,

1:06:42

you give him the keys to the kingdom.

1:06:44

I think he could do some really, really

1:06:46

cool and balance all these characters in a really depth way, the same

1:06:48

way we saw with the Russo brothers. Right? because those

1:06:50

movies should not have made sense having that

1:06:52

many characters that many leading

1:06:54

types coming into play, I think he'd be able to

1:06:56

handle that, that the same kind of finesse. Aaron, what

1:06:58

would

1:06:58

you think about a Ryan Kugler directed

1:07:01

Avengers film? mean, selfishly,

1:07:02

of course, I would love it. selfishly,

1:07:04

I want Ryan Hugelge to be directing

1:07:06

many, many more films. But again, I

1:07:08

think that you hit the nail on the head when

1:07:11

you said if he wants it. Right now,

1:07:13

the world is his oyster. And I think

1:07:15

that he probably is getting

1:07:17

inundated with projects that

1:07:19

he really has his choice of. I see that coming

1:07:22

up, he has something called

1:07:24

scenes for minors, which is a

1:07:26

television show that was announced that he's gonna be directing.

1:07:28

Also, you know, exec to producing

1:07:30

also something called wrong answer,

1:07:32

which, you know, like, starring

1:07:34

Michael B Jordan, of course, which also

1:07:36

very happy for that. Can't go wrong with Michael B Jordan

1:07:38

in your project. So really,

1:07:40

this is his time to

1:07:42

decide what what avenue he wants

1:07:44

his career to go. And, you know, some people

1:07:47

are saying, I don't want him to do

1:07:49

another superhero movie because I want him

1:07:51

to go back to his roots such

1:07:53

as Fruitville station,

1:07:56

you know, to show that he is a much more diverse

1:07:58

director than just doing a

1:08:00

superhero movie. But we know that he's a more

1:08:02

diverse director

1:08:02

than just doing a superhero movie.

1:08:04

he's already proven that. So if he wants to stay in this genre

1:08:07

because he wants to continue to elevate

1:08:09

the genre and to

1:08:11

elevate the quality, of these films

1:08:13

so that we don't have no names on named

1:08:16

saying that they're just stupid and

1:08:18

smart and

1:08:18

smart and smart safety.

1:08:19

But, like, Yeah.

1:08:23

Again, I really think that this would be

1:08:25

a welcome invitation for all

1:08:27

of us because

1:08:29

he's a wonderful director. But again, it really just

1:08:31

depends on how he wants the next several

1:08:34

years because let's face it. It's

1:08:36

several years. It is not

1:08:38

like you're doing a movie that

1:08:40

is you know, okay, I'm gonna go do this movie. That's

1:08:42

gonna, you know, take maybe three months of filming, and then I'll be wrapped up with

1:08:45

the whole thing in a year and a half. A Marvel

1:08:47

film is a huge project. And an Avengers film is a

1:08:49

totally different

1:08:50

thing. It's a it is a beast

1:08:52

that you are

1:08:54

you are biting that off like,

1:08:56

for a minimum of three years I'm

1:08:58

imagining. So it really just depends on,

1:09:03

you know, Ryan, what do you wanna do? Why don't you just

1:09:05

give us a call on the mint mobile hotline?

1:09:07

And let us know how you're feeling

1:09:09

these days, what you're feeling like

1:09:11

doing, and and we'll to make

1:09:13

that happen for you, man. Right.

1:09:15

I know you are a huge creed fan. you you

1:09:20

love creed. What would you think about like,

1:09:22

do you think you'd see Ryan Coogler directing an Avengers movie? I could see

1:09:26

him directing anything It's all it's all like she Aaron

1:09:28

said, it's all if he wants to take it.

1:09:30

I I'll watch anything this guy directs.

1:09:33

I like his

1:09:36

work. So Let's if they want him if

1:09:38

Marvel's gonna pick who they're gonna pick. Like, they're not gonna listen to anybody.

1:09:40

If they feel he's They

1:09:43

feel he's the guy. then,

1:09:45

of course, I'm gonna

1:09:47

ride with that. He's the guy then. I think all the criticisms

1:09:49

will

1:09:50

come after the movie

1:09:53

comes out if we like it or not, then

1:09:56

but before then, I Sure. He's fine. You

1:09:57

know, it's I I

1:09:58

saw somebody in the in the live

1:09:59

chat say, Well,

1:10:02

you know, everything that Ryan Coogler has done so far has very personal And I just know that that's good for that's gonna

1:10:05

be on a

1:10:08

larger scale. like an avenger

1:10:10

sequel wars. And and and, hey, actually well said, I I get where you're coming from with that. But I wanna

1:10:12

remind you of something that

1:10:14

I bring up a lot. when

1:10:17

when Kevin Feige was sitting I I had sat down with Kevin Feige, James Gunn, and Chris

1:10:20

Pratt, and I asked Kevin

1:10:22

Feige, this is before Guardians came

1:10:24

out. ask

1:10:26

him if I get, hey, you know, what on

1:10:28

earth made you choose James Gunn? Who

1:10:30

I love guns films, especially slither.

1:10:32

That's my favorite gun film still. so good.

1:10:34

But oh, so they're so awesome. Great soundtrack

1:10:37

too. But I said to him,

1:10:39

like, James has never done

1:10:41

a movie like this. So why

1:10:43

to you, did you think he was the right

1:10:45

guy to do this? And I'll never forget what Kevin

1:10:47

Feige told me. He

1:10:49

simply said this. a

1:10:50

good storyteller is a good storyteller -- Mhmm.

1:10:52

-- period. Yeah. If you look at

1:10:54

the Russo brothers, the directors of

1:10:58

you, me, and DuPree,

1:11:00

What

1:11:00

on Earth would make you think like from

1:11:02

from an outside looking in, would make you think yeah. These

1:11:04

are the guys that do

1:11:06

Captain America, the winter soldier. nothing.

1:11:10

If they could get that performance out of Owen. Yeah.

1:11:12

Well, I mean, Matt Reeves, that or

1:11:14

Matt Dillon, I mean. But I mean Or

1:11:17

Matt Reeves directing road trip. I'm a wrecking mire who

1:11:19

I worked with, and he's lovely. Well, he did some

1:11:21

other things that happened with that. But, I mean

1:11:24

so he

1:11:24

but he looked at the Russo brothers and

1:11:26

knew. No. No. No. I I see what kinds of they are.

1:11:28

And I know that that will work

1:11:30

here. So I I think yeah.

1:11:32

If that's the case, I

1:11:35

think it can work. I mean, also

1:11:37

this what kind of forever looks like there's a war going on.

1:11:39

It looks like an amazing scale. What very big scale?

1:11:41

What if these rumors started because

1:11:43

of the, like, Wow.

1:11:46

He did such a great job handling

1:11:48

this war in this movie. Let's let's try to

1:11:50

get him

1:11:50

to do a bigger scale or because

1:11:54

there's there's a new name or is in this? There's another superhero. There's a lot of factors in this movie. There's

1:11:56

a lot of work there. believe

1:11:58

in him to handle

1:11:59

such a big

1:12:03

project. everything that was going on. And by the way,

1:12:06

how many people in the world have experienced directing

1:12:09

Avengers level styles

1:12:12

of movies? Mhmm. You can count them on one hand. So, I

1:12:14

mean, it is what it is. I think you'd be a great choice. Anyway, guys, questions

1:12:18

for you. There are some

1:12:19

whispers going around. I had heard them myself earlier that Ryan

1:12:21

Cooper was gonna end up being the director of

1:12:23

Avengers Secret Wars. Whether that's

1:12:25

true or not, time will tell. But

1:12:28

theoretically speaking, how would you feel about that? Is he

1:12:30

the right choice? Do you have some other picks? Perhaps.

1:12:32

Whatever those thoughts are, jump down to the

1:12:34

comment section below. and

1:12:35

leave those thoughts there. Okay, guys. With

1:12:37

all that down now, we are

1:12:40

gonna open up

1:12:42

the superchats and we are not gonna start hearing from you. What are your

1:12:44

thoughts, theories, opinions, speculations, or questions that

1:12:46

you've got about any or all

1:12:49

the topics we discussed or others If you've got them, now

1:12:51

is your chance to start firing them in,

1:12:54

please be hesitant to

1:12:56

put in multipart questions

1:12:58

if you must, you must, but if you can

1:13:00

get into one, try doing one that makes

1:15:19

for the kind word. That that honestly means a

1:15:21

lot to me. So thank you very

1:15:23

much for that. Alright.

1:15:26

What's next? We have some

1:15:28

coming in. TJ

1:15:29

Slab dragging Watson writes

1:15:31

congrats on Al. Chapec

1:15:33

Chapec definitely knows who you are. God, I doubt

1:15:35

it. I I highly

1:15:36

look, on

1:15:39

the very very off chance

1:15:41

that Bob Chapek has ever even heard my name. He will instantly shit it out. He he

1:15:43

does get a chapek memo. That's

1:15:46

perfectly fine. But thank you

1:15:49

that. The the ally Anglo thing was

1:15:51

a dream for me. Alright. What's next? KJ McGrew writes,

1:15:53

hey hey, guys. I was wondering if you all had

1:15:56

the chance to

1:15:58

see the new show that Netflix dropped

1:16:00

called The Imperfect. And if so,

1:16:02

what did y'all think? I saw

1:16:05

the trailer and thought it looked

1:16:07

interesting. Never heard of it. we covered

1:16:08

this on a Batman Beyond Day. This is a

1:16:10

a bunch of kids who are like banshees and werewolves and such,

1:16:12

and one's a such a best. True. And

1:16:14

then there's a

1:16:15

very young duck who

1:16:19

looks like

1:16:24

doobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyobyoby.

1:16:24

established that that's just aware

1:16:25

So I

1:16:27

haven't watched it yet. The trailer

1:16:29

didn't do anything for me just because

1:16:31

it felt very CWE, which you all

1:16:33

know, I'm a very, very big sucker

1:16:35

for it usually. Yay. I know. I know. I know.

1:16:37

I know. But I still

1:16:38

feel the way I feel. But

1:16:41

it

1:16:41

just it

1:16:44

just didn't do

1:16:44

anything for me. Alright.

1:16:45

So it says after undergoing an experiment that gives a monstrous

1:16:47

side effects, Abhi Tilda and

1:16:51

Juan joined forces to hunt down the scientists responsible

1:16:53

and force him to make them human again. Wow. I don't think he wanted to

1:16:56

be human. It's

1:16:56

not that great. I just I've

1:16:59

never even heard of it. Netflix

1:17:01

once again -- wanna be -- doing

1:17:03

such a bang up job of promoting their own content -- Alright. -- Rodriguez writes, just to say

1:17:05

thank you for the content. You

1:17:07

helped us get through

1:17:10

the pandemic. Glad to see the

1:17:12

channel grow so much this year. I'm

1:17:14

glad to be a member. Also,

1:17:16

physical media for life. Wait. Who said

1:17:18

that I was talking over when you said that I

1:17:20

was talking over when you said that I was Fernando Rodriguez. Hi, Fernando.

1:17:22

Thank you so much, Fernando. For that, I appreciate that. And, yeah, listen,

1:17:26

we're gonna go back to this all the time over the

1:17:28

next couple years. I will never

1:17:30

cease my incredible gratitude for

1:17:33

all of our viewing community who were there for us during

1:17:35

the pandemic. Because, man, the pandemic

1:17:38

was a rough ride. Because

1:17:40

we are it was like being ESPN

1:17:42

during that time because we are a movie

1:17:45

Show, when no movies were in theaters, no theaters were open and no

1:17:47

movies were being made, it was real, rough go. And the only reason this channel is

1:17:49

even still here is because you guys kept coming back

1:17:51

every day. So Thank

1:17:55

you guys for that. I I would like to add to that physical media thing. There's

1:17:57

this game coming out called Construction

1:17:59

simulator

1:17:59

for the Xbox.

1:18:03

It's only digital. Yeah.

1:18:04

More games gonna be like

1:18:06

that. It's releasing in Europe. And so I ordered the physical copy

1:18:08

so i ordered the physical

1:18:10

from Europe, baby. Why did it downgrade? you,

1:18:13

like, build things on a construction Yeah.

1:18:15

Like, four players. You get to use

1:18:17

cranes and stuff building all. Cool.

1:18:19

So why not just by

1:18:21

digitally because I like to trade in games. Oh, okay. Okay. Yeah. That's a good

1:18:23

reason. That's a good reason. Alright. Chris, Pat

1:18:28

Pat, writes John and crew. It's Game

1:18:30

Day. Game Day or The Hogs. Share devil shows up tonight. Big

1:18:32

surprises. Glad you

1:18:35

met weird out. I would

1:18:37

say this. Now, Charlie Cox has confirmed that daredevil, unlike Wong,

1:18:39

is only going to

1:18:42

be in one episode. So

1:18:44

I have a feeling that's gonna be saved for a little bit

1:18:46

later. At the midway, we're about at the midway. We are at the midway point now. So I

1:18:49

think they're gonna save a bit

1:18:51

later. So my guess is

1:18:53

we're not gonna see daredevil tonight. But at this point, oh, there's only what four

1:18:56

episodes left, five

1:18:58

more episodes. I think

1:19:00

five. many

1:19:01

episodes are we are we through

1:19:04

support? nine. because you've done four. I

1:19:06

think it's nine.

1:19:06

Yeah. I think it's nine anyway. I

1:19:09

I'm gonna gay I'm gonna guess that we're

1:19:11

not gonna see him tonight. But, hey, everyone else, fingers crossed. Alright. What's next? I think it. Okay. No. No.

1:19:13

I got

1:19:14

it. Tyler Oden writes, hey, John.

1:19:17

I JUST LANDED IN CANADA. I'M IN BANNAF. BALE, WHILE IT IS NOT

1:19:19

MY HOME AND NATIVE

1:19:21

LAND IT IS

1:19:23

MY FAVOUR COUNTRY. I

1:19:26

just wanted to wish the best to you and

1:19:28

your team and family. Have a great day. Alright.

1:19:30

First of all, I just I just wanna shout

1:19:32

out to thank you to everybody in the

1:19:34

live chat, Menontra, Dominec Martinez, Angel Rodriguez Leila. So it

1:19:37

is nine episodes. So thank you for letting

1:19:39

us know that. I've never been

1:19:41

to Banff. I love it. I I've been there. I

1:19:43

I I've I've been there once, but it was

1:19:46

only because I was doing an

1:19:48

excursion from

1:19:51

Scotchwan into Vancouver. But

1:19:52

Banff is the

1:19:53

most beautiful

1:19:54

place on Earth and is

1:19:57

constantly wanting us to

1:19:58

take care. I've just never been

1:20:00

able make vacation

1:20:02

time to do it. But Anne and I are gonna go to BAM for sure. If you guys have ever seen guys

1:20:04

look up pictures

1:20:07

online. If you want the

1:20:09

actual physical proof that it is the most beautiful place in the world. Just go

1:20:11

online, look up pictures. We gotta go there. And I

1:20:14

am so envious that you're hanging out

1:20:16

there. Canada

1:20:18

is really I mean, I You're

1:20:20

shooting your show up there. I

1:20:22

I get to go to Vancouver at least once

1:20:24

a month, and I I want to move

1:20:27

there. So If any of you are Canadians and you can marry me

1:20:29

so that I can move there, I will

1:20:31

totally divorce my husband and

1:20:33

leave my

1:20:33

child for you. off. I'll be really busy. I'll see you

1:20:36

guys on the mother of the

1:20:38

year episode. What's up, Tom? Shut

1:20:40

up. The town is called

1:20:42

BAMS. BAMS. BAMS. BAMS? ANFF Yeah. It's an f. Like,

1:20:44

bad ass. Like Like, an f

1:20:46

f. Okay. And AGAN

1:20:48

Okay. I thought

1:20:49

it was the bad ass mother.

1:20:51

I actually stated that Chateau Lake Louise.

1:20:53

That is one of the best places on Earth. Let's see. You'll

1:20:55

stay there? Stay there twice.

1:20:59

a what? He's got that sweet Batman money. I know, man. Wow. I

1:21:01

know

1:21:01

that sweet Batman money. This is why we take all

1:21:03

of our investing

1:21:03

advice

1:21:05

from Jonathan Boyle. Alright. Is it overrun by

1:21:08

wild boars? Or am I looking at the wrong

1:21:10

place? It's in And there's lots of birds

1:21:12

there. birds there. birds birds. birds birds. Okay.

1:21:14

We're running behind. We're running

1:21:16

behind. What's next? Adamuni writes,

1:21:18

hey, John. When do you

1:21:21

guys when

1:21:21

do you think you guys will do

1:21:23

an in person event? Again, would love to attend a TJCS screening with

1:21:25

the

1:21:28

whole crew maybe with condom forever or Avatar two.

1:21:30

You know, I I definitely think so. We have done on a couple of occasions where we've

1:21:32

had a theater either either given

1:21:34

to us or that we've booked out.

1:21:38

to do fan screens. I think the next

1:21:40

one we're gonna do is Avatar

1:21:42

would be amazing. I I think well,

1:21:44

III would like to do Avatar, but I

1:21:46

think the first one we'll probably do is I'm

1:21:48

planning on doing an in person fan screening

1:21:50

of my documentary movie trailers love

1:21:55

story. getting some of the people who participated in it to be there and maybe do a little

1:21:57

bit of a q and a. So that'll be done in the

1:21:59

LA area. Keep your ears open

1:22:01

for when we announce that. But definitely more actual, like, maybe maybe Black

1:22:04

Panther, maybe Avatar will definitely do more fan screenings

1:22:06

for that as well. Alright. Let's is that

1:22:08

it? Last

1:22:10

one, Eddie k. He writes. Hi, John. Can you elaborate

1:22:12

on your meeting with Weird

1:22:13

Al? Did you chat with him?

1:22:16

Or

1:22:16

did

1:22:18

you just or just can't think of anything? Thanks.

1:22:20

No. It did not it was

1:22:22

it was like an assembly line.

1:22:24

I was able they

1:22:26

had the people with VIP passes. Got

1:22:29

us in this line. We got to go in. We

1:22:31

had, like, five or ten seconds with them.

1:22:34

Post for a picture. then we

1:22:36

had to go out of the room, get back

1:22:38

into another line again for an autograph line in which he was, like, behind this plastic wall

1:22:40

with thing and he would sign these

1:22:42

posters and hand hand them around. So

1:22:45

when I literally walked in to meet him, our exchange was pretty much limited

1:22:47

to. John Campio, watch your show, love

1:22:52

your reviews. Was that he

1:22:54

standing? Yes. He's he's tall. Right? He's tall, dude. Yeah. And then I said, man,

1:22:57

I I've

1:23:00

been at some premieres that you never had the guts to

1:23:02

meet you. He goes, well, we're here today. And I'm like, yeah. And then we took our picture, then

1:23:04

then I had to move. And then when

1:23:06

I came back in to get the poster,

1:23:09

thing signed. He was like, dude, I would just like to love to hang out

1:23:11

and chat for a while. But,

1:23:14

unfortunately, we got, like,

1:23:17

there

1:23:17

were still, like, sixty people behind me waiting.

1:23:19

And I'm, like, no. No. No. It was just another time. But, hey, guess what? I got passes to go to

1:23:21

the weird eye

1:23:23

anchored story premier. Los

1:23:25

Angeles premier. Yeah. So suddenly this morning, I got those. So so sixty people You're dead to John. You're

1:23:27

dead to me?

1:23:31

Dead to me. Alright. Let's get

1:23:33

over now to our super chat. Shall we? Aaron, what do we got in

1:23:35

our super chats?

1:23:37

It comes

1:23:39

to us a ten dollar super chat

1:23:41

from Zynvandetta who says, hey, John, I also was at the weird out concert

1:23:44

last night, and

1:23:46

I also had a

1:23:48

blast great show. I'm happy you got to

1:23:50

meet him after so long and that he recognized you, which I imagine was surreal for you.

1:23:53

I'll tell you what, I actually saw that picture

1:23:55

online. That's in Mandela posted online last

1:23:58

night. And here's a little hint.

1:24:00

You can actually see me

1:24:02

in that picture, son. If you If

1:24:04

you blow it up and go right to

1:24:06

the front, look at the very front, there's one guy whose faces to the side,

1:24:08

and that's me.

1:24:10

I'm actually in your picture. So

1:24:12

I know I got a small for

1:24:14

the accent accent. It's a fun fun accent wise. I was probably talking to Anne or

1:24:16

something like that. Alright. What's

1:24:19

next? Can

1:24:19

we also say that that is actually not a

1:24:22

one of two. It's a one of one that is just Well, you just said it? Yep. There we

1:24:23

go. Okay. Andy, this

1:24:25

is now

1:24:26

a one of two. so

1:24:28

happy that you finally got to interact

1:24:30

with weird Alogen. To be honest, how you felt about weird Alogen seeing him

1:24:33

last night is very

1:24:35

much how we how I felt when

1:24:37

I met you at the Batman fan screening. Oh. So nervous that I could barely utter the

1:24:39

words to ask you for

1:24:42

a pick. Thank you so

1:24:44

much. for it, bring by

1:24:46

the way. I was gonna say bring on the filthy. Thank you so much for it, by the way. Oh, well, thank thank you

1:24:48

so

1:24:49

much for that,

1:24:52

Andy. I I love when people. Right? Is

1:24:54

this the same Andy that writes in jokes in the river dip? Yeah. River dip? Yes. So we

1:24:56

had met this Andy. This infamous Andy. Yeah.

1:24:58

I'm

1:24:58

trying to figure out who he was.

1:25:02

birthday at the batmeals training. Oh, got it.

1:25:04

And that's gonna go to the strip club.

1:25:06

Mhmm. I got you, auntie. Oh,

1:25:09

got it off. You got my baby?

1:25:11

Yeah. III listen, when we're out at

1:25:13

events and things like that and people come up

1:25:15

and and introduce themselves, it it

1:25:17

never gets tired

1:25:18

for me because you guys

1:25:21

when you do that, you make me feel

1:25:23

like a rock star. And and like I'm I'm a Canadian kid who just had a laptop and a

1:25:25

webcam in a in

1:25:27

a spare bedroom. to

1:25:29

do stuff. And the fact that you guys come up

1:25:31

and say hi, something like that, you have no idea what that how that makes

1:25:33

me feel. It's amazing. So thank you so much for that, Andy. We appreciate that

1:25:36

you were People

1:25:38

have recognized

1:25:39

me because of Joey Bishop. They'll literally be

1:25:41

they'll they'll they'll see Joey, and then they

1:25:43

look at Tom, and then they go, is

1:25:45

that? And he goes, please go say hi

1:25:47

to her. Look, Tom. Tom got

1:25:48

I think it was Tom said to me that I think

1:25:50

you guys were either in New York. We were in Detroit. We

1:25:55

were in Detroit. So Tom's like, yeah. So we're getting out of a cabin going

1:25:57

into the hotel or something like that. And somebody came over

1:25:59

and said, are you

1:25:59

Aaron? And I'm thinking, oh, they're

1:26:02

they recognize her former TV shows. Like,

1:26:04

You're Erin from the John Cabbie show. Oh, I

1:26:07

get way more recognition from the show than from anything that I've ever. Yeah. You know oh,

1:26:09

you know what my favorite part

1:26:11

about meeting the fans

1:26:14

is when they go up to me and and

1:26:16

they're like, what should I say to John? And they just talk and

1:26:18

then they just talk about you. That makes me feel good.

1:26:22

so much insight. Thank you.

1:26:24

Thank you. Alright. What's next?

1:26:26

This comes to us

1:26:27

from Al Renshaw. Do

1:26:29

you think that Eli Bradley will team up with

1:26:32

Sam and Captain America four. It could help

1:26:34

to lead the young avengers.

1:26:35

I'm still not convinced he's going to be

1:26:37

a young avenger. straight up. But listen, he's in

1:26:39

the show that confirmed that he's there.

1:26:41

His character was, I think, the most

1:26:44

fascinating character, most interesting character in

1:26:46

Falcon the Winter Soldier. So I definitely I don't know that we're gonna

1:26:48

see him get into any fifty cuffs,

1:26:50

but I think he's going to be

1:26:52

the Yoda. I think he's gonna be

1:26:54

the wise one that they go to for

1:26:57

for for input and stuff. But who knows? I'd love to see him throw down. I

1:26:59

mean, he's clearly still got his powers. I wanna see him punch some people.

1:27:01

Yeah. That would be kinda

1:27:03

fun. Alright. What's next? This

1:27:05

is from JCSC who sends in a super chat and said, have you

1:27:07

watched the new God of War Ragnarok

1:27:12

trailer I know John Campio is mostly

1:27:14

interested in the cutscene movie, but it looks like they're going all out. It looks

1:27:16

going all out fit knows

1:27:19

awesome. Yeah. the the

1:27:21

line of the year is death

1:27:22

can have me when it's earned it. I'm

1:27:25

like, oh, say

1:27:28

that again. It was, like,

1:27:30

oh, I got chills from that line. You you had took a look at it this morning as well because I don't

1:27:32

think Yeah.

1:27:35

It looks

1:27:36

fun. looks

1:27:37

very, very exciting.

1:27:38

There's a lot going on. I was a very I was just like, where are we? There's so many different worlds.

1:27:40

It's like at one point they're in

1:27:42

Antarctica, at another point they're in the

1:27:47

desert. There's just there's a lot going on there. I need a little story

1:27:49

line. Arrow shot, though. You know the power

1:27:51

shot. Wait. Kratos. Mhmm.

1:27:55

What's that? Put it

1:27:55

out in the universe for I'm good

1:27:57

play kratos. Tom Kelly got a little bit

1:28:00

bigger. Just a tad bit bigger.

1:28:02

He's got the height. That is

1:28:03

Tom Deignan, DEGNANYMTEM

1:28:06

He has good credit? Yes. Yes. Alright. Was

1:28:08

it Mike

1:28:09

Say my husband a job

1:28:10

there. Neville McShade says, theory. My

1:28:13

brand is Ghost King under the mountain. The theory

1:28:15

right now that I have

1:28:16

heard is that he's the

1:28:18

witch king and that king. Right?

1:28:21

That would make sense because he it sounds like he's going to be one of the kings of men. They, of course, the

1:28:24

ones who get the rings. They're

1:28:26

the ones who turn into the

1:28:28

ringwraits. And

1:28:30

I have a feeling that that's who it's probably going to be.

1:28:32

Do you That's what I think. Yeah. I can hear.

1:28:34

I can hear

1:28:35

a doctor. What's next?

1:28:37

This comes to us from Sam

1:28:39

Fisher, one of two. I don't think the stranger is Sauron because someone pointed out to

1:28:41

me that part of

1:28:43

the reason it's Fredo

1:28:46

and Hobbits. But but that part of the reason, it's Frodo and Hobbits that destroy the ring is

1:28:52

that Thauron

1:28:53

practically doesn't even know they exist.

1:28:55

So why

1:28:56

would that be the case if he spent

1:28:58

time with halflings when he first came to Middle

1:29:00

earth? Remember,

1:29:03

there's in

1:29:04

in something that

1:29:05

has the lifespan of thousands and

1:29:08

thousands and thousands

1:29:10

of years. stumbling across and by

1:29:11

the way, these are non hobbits,

1:29:13

these are hardflets. So stumbling across

1:29:15

them and and spending even a

1:29:18

year with them is less than a

1:29:20

moment for you and I

1:29:22

passing by somebody in the street. So

1:29:24

listen, I'm not saying it is gonna be

1:29:26

Sauron, but I don't think that detail

1:29:29

excludes it.

1:29:29

I I don't know, Chris, what do you think? I mean, I really really am leaning more towards like a blue

1:29:32

wizard type. If

1:29:34

we're sticking to the actual

1:29:37

timeline in the ages, which I mean, I know we're playing fast and loose with that.

1:29:39

And then if we do kind of fan favorite, then it's gonna be.

1:29:43

Oh, it's Gandalf. he for these tiny creatures. Alright.

1:29:45

What's

1:29:45

next? This comes to us

1:29:48

from

1:29:48

Jay who says

1:29:50

over under six percent. The reason why Wong was late to Blonsky's parole

1:29:52

hearing in episode three of She hulk

1:29:54

was because he was binging the

1:29:57

Sopranos. No.

1:29:58

It's a hundred If

1:30:00

you go back and watch the scene when

1:30:02

he finally shows up to the hearing, you see he is coming from that TV

1:30:06

room. He was a hundred percent watching Sopranos.

1:30:09

A hundred percent, and I'm glad

1:30:11

you caught that. Alright. What's next?

1:30:13

This is

1:30:14

from AK anomaly who says kiss

1:30:16

kiss Gengbang officially his theaters

1:30:18

next week. Oh, sorry. I meant don't worry darling. You know,

1:30:21

with don't worry

1:30:22

darling, it is this This

1:30:26

is this is a reality film

1:30:28

has completely dominated the

1:30:30

discussion about the film and

1:30:32

now month

1:30:36

people talking about the film. Mhmm. And

1:30:38

looking forward to seeing this film. I've

1:30:40

heard no

1:30:41

talk

1:30:41

about it lately.

1:30:43

No. None. So

1:30:44

it's just unfortunate that the the old saying

1:30:46

of no publicity is bad publicity. No.

1:30:51

That's not true. Turns out that's not true at all. It's gonna be

1:30:53

really interesting to see what kind of numbers this movie does.

1:30:56

Listen, this was never gonna be a movie

1:30:58

that was gonna open to two hundred million

1:31:00

dollars anyway. This is not that kind of

1:31:02

a movie, but But

1:31:03

it definitely was going to it it was a movie that I assumed was

1:31:06

going to be a

1:31:08

critical Darling -- Yep. -- that was going

1:31:10

to be in talks for award season, perhaps, and that was really going to be the

1:31:12

next step in Olivia Wilde's

1:31:15

career as a director. which

1:31:18

coming off of book smart. She, you

1:31:20

know, was in a prime position. I was

1:31:22

actually having conversation with Tom the other

1:31:24

day about, like, what happens next

1:31:26

for Olivia while? like, what is

1:31:27

the next step? And he said, Stuely,

1:31:29

he said, she's gonna go into

1:31:32

Hollywood purgatory. for

1:31:34

four years. And then she's gonna come out and someone's gonna give

1:31:36

her a shot to do something really amazing and

1:31:39

then she's gonna redeem herself like

1:31:42

happens with everyone who has, you know, moments like this. It depends on

1:31:44

how this movie does. Like, we're talking about

1:31:46

how no one's gonna see it. But this movie

1:31:49

this movie comes out comes out makes

1:31:51

three fifty million dollars,

1:31:53

not opening week. I mean, overall.

1:31:55

Overall. Guess what?

1:31:56

This town

1:31:57

is about winning cures everything.

1:31:59

So and -- Mhmm. -- but I just don't think that's gonna happen. But if it does,

1:32:01

you're gonna see her next film. Like, she's

1:32:04

supposed to be working on

1:32:06

this Marvel project, and she's got other

1:32:08

things lined up, but it's gonna be interesting

1:32:10

to see what happens. Alright. What's next? This comes to us from

1:32:11

South Texas Shark who says

1:32:13

I love your shirt John

1:32:16

and Ray. Well,

1:32:17

we don't have the same shirt.

1:32:19

Yeah. This is Yeah. Yeah. Ray shirt is wearing church

1:32:22

clothes. Yeah. Church clothes.

1:32:25

I is that cookie monster?

1:32:27

I don't want it. It's cookie monster. It's his name tag. There's name bar there. Can

1:32:32

I Mister

1:32:33

Hank Dunn, he I missed

1:32:35

his or a member chat. I just wanna read it real quick. I'm sorry.

1:32:39

he writes,

1:32:40

clerks three was really

1:32:42

good and that it even

1:32:45

got

1:32:46

him to cry. and

1:32:48

that he loves this crew. Yeah. I've heard

1:32:50

nothing but good things about clerks 3II actually

1:32:52

have it, but

1:32:55

I haven't watched it. I I

1:32:56

think I'm gonna before She Hulk tonight because She Hulk

1:32:58

doesn't come out to midnight for us. I think I'm gonna I'm also probably gonna

1:33:02

be watching Andor tonight. What?

1:33:04

He's got a lot of movies. So he's

1:33:06

I got a I got a lot

1:33:07

of Wayne, his granddaughter. I've

1:33:11

a to watch tonight. I've got a lot to watch tonight. I'll

1:33:14

give you a call to come over if I do. How

1:33:18

about that? Alright. What's next? This is from

1:33:19

Joseph Sanchez who sends it a ten dollar

1:33:22

super chat. Thank you. Watch the first

1:33:24

seven episodes of

1:33:26

the new cyberpunk Edge Runner's anime on Netflix

1:33:28

and I love it so far. Really hope

1:33:30

that they do more with this world because

1:33:32

I really liked the game as

1:33:34

well. Again, Netflix doing a bang up job of

1:33:36

making sure nobody's heard of these shows starting out. I

1:33:38

I've never even heard of this. Yeah.

1:33:40

They're terrible at marketing other day.

1:33:42

somebody

1:33:42

else brought it out yet. Remember? They were they were saying, oh, did

1:33:45

you see that site? That was for this. reminds me

1:33:47

of a hero or something like that. Well, you know, listen,

1:33:49

if we if we hear from more of our audience writing

1:33:51

about I mean, listen, that's what happened to

1:33:53

me with damn it. What's the Amazon sci fi one?

1:33:55

Expense. The Expense. Thank you. That's what happened

1:33:57

to the Expense and Harley Quinn and

1:33:59

stuff

1:33:59

like that. not people

1:34:02

kept writing in that I checked it out. if we hearing people about I have to check myself. next?

1:34:04

This is from

1:34:06

seconds from

1:34:08

disaster. The

1:34:10

town's men in episode four seemed more

1:34:12

concerned that Reneira won't be a powerful

1:34:14

queen rather than being a woman. Think

1:34:17

she will focus

1:34:19

on being powerful. I

1:34:20

think she took that to

1:34:22

heart.

1:34:22

Mhmm. And I think that would

1:34:24

be

1:34:24

an interesting looks and we've been seeing

1:34:26

her evolve that way too. Like, even that

1:34:30

one last scene with her father. She's now

1:34:32

put she put her foot down, say, okay. You're

1:34:34

king. You're commanding me to do this. I will do

1:34:36

it. But as the heir to the throne, you're

1:34:38

gonna do this. Yeah. She she is finding the word that's been coming up a lot with her narrow as agency. She's

1:34:40

been finding a lot of

1:34:43

her own agency here. And

1:34:46

I think that part of that is because of what she heard in the town square. Mhmm. And she's gonna start stiffening up a I

1:34:48

think. Alright.

1:34:52

What's next? This is

1:34:54

from excuse me, from mispronouncing.

1:35:00

John, bomb after bomb after bomb Disney

1:35:02

at d twenty three. Hello, we exist. Thank you, John.

1:35:04

Sorry, I'm just saying this totally wrong. Don't No.

1:35:06

Go on. Go on. Go on. Go on. After

1:35:10

Disney at t twenty three. Hello, we exist.

1:35:13

Thank you, John. Surprise

1:35:15

Pikachu face.

1:35:15

I I mean, listen,

1:35:17

there's for months. I was telling people, like, I don't know what the announcements are gonna be. I suspect it's

1:35:19

gonna be this is, but now I'm telling you guys,

1:35:21

Disney's d twenty three

1:35:24

at this Lucasville

1:35:26

Marvel. It's gonna be bomb after bomb because

1:35:28

that's what they did. It's the last one. And

1:35:30

yeah, it was basically that. It was, hi,

1:35:32

everybody. We're Disney. Remember us? Yeah. Okay.

1:35:36

Have

1:35:36

a nice day. Buy some stuff. We'll

1:35:38

go buy some stuff. Buy a new

1:35:40

bags. Can't start with scups? So

1:35:42

a friend hey, listen. Here's the thing. I'm just

1:35:44

having to chat

1:35:45

with a friend of mine about the sea of

1:35:47

the day. because they were they they a friend of mine

1:35:49

pushed me out of this little badly. They said, you know, yeah, I don't see

1:35:51

you get that up set like when paramount drops

1:35:53

the ball or when whatever. That's because for the most part, I don't

1:35:56

care when paramount

1:35:59

drops

1:35:59

the I don't care. I mean, don't

1:36:02

get it. I'm a I'm a paramount fan. Absolutely. I'm a universal fan. Absolutely.

1:36:04

But I don't

1:36:07

care as much about them.

1:36:08

So when bad things or dumb things

1:36:10

happen as a result of stuff that they're doing, I don't get

1:36:12

nearly as worked

1:36:15

up about it. I care a lot about Star

1:36:17

Wars. I care a lot about the MCU. I care a

1:36:19

lot about, like, a number of those things.

1:36:22

III I'm like, it's it's

1:36:24

it's true sports fanism. Right?

1:36:26

Mhmm. You're never gonna see a sports fan get more upset than at their own team that they love

1:36:29

and they're

1:36:32

passionate about. And

1:36:33

yeah, so when I see Disney drop the

1:36:35

ball as badly as they dropped it to d twenty three,

1:36:36

bradley as they drafted a d twenty three

1:36:39

then yeah, of But also, do do Paramount and Universal?

1:36:41

And

1:36:41

maybe they do. I just don't know. Do Paramount

1:36:43

and Universal have

1:36:47

an event such as a d twenty three where there

1:36:49

is an expectation that there will

1:36:51

be dropping bombs. Expectations

1:36:52

that they themselves

1:36:55

set the precedent FOR. Reporter:

1:36:56

EXACTLY, IT'S NOT LIKE IT'S JUST DISNEY.

1:36:58

THAT'S JUST -- IT'S THE FACT THAT DISNEY SPECIFICALLY HOLDS THIS EVENT AND

1:37:02

HAS PEOPLE PAY TO come

1:37:04

and, you know, relocate themselves for the weekend to attend. And

1:37:06

then it's just like, oh, hey, we're just hanging out. Well,

1:37:09

then why are

1:37:11

you having an event? There is a

1:37:13

bright side to this, John. Right? But if they did if they did drop

1:37:15

all that stuff, instead of just trickling it out through

1:37:18

the year, we got We got stuff to talk about through the year. If they dropped it

1:37:20

all at once, then we have no more news for the

1:37:23

rights of it. But I

1:37:23

don't know why they dropped it all at once. Why

1:37:25

are they having an event? Yeah. Then what's the point

1:37:28

of it? see.

1:37:30

And the thing is they did drop bomb after bomb after bomb after bomb at the last t twenty three, and we still had to talk

1:37:33

about all

1:37:36

year. Right? And so I

1:37:38

mean, drastic wise, I just didn't want to pull up with that. Yeah. That would have been a lot of have been

1:37:40

a lot of grounds.

1:37:43

I'm talking to myself. What's

1:37:47

next?

1:37:47

This comes to us from

1:37:49

the inevitable hulk. You said, Pat

1:37:51

Pat's unique with so man

1:37:54

osteel. First extraordinary being world had ever seen.

1:37:56

Then they add, they were there

1:37:58

all along, like magic and Batman.

1:38:01

Yeah. I mean, that's that

1:38:03

is true. That is the way they could do but that doesn't fit

1:38:05

the world that Matt Reeves

1:38:07

has created.

1:38:10

And you like, the the the gotham in the world that Matt

1:38:12

Reeves created doesn't have magic men

1:38:14

in in tights flying around the sky.

1:38:16

And I just don't think it works

1:38:18

in that world. I I really with

1:38:21

outshattering what that world is. Now, just because that's what I think. That

1:38:23

doesn't mean the way it's

1:38:24

going to be. I mean,

1:38:25

Matt Reeves could come up with something

1:38:27

I suppose, but everything

1:38:31

I've heard Matt Reese say, I don't think he has any intention of doing

1:38:33

that much like Christopher Nolan never really

1:38:35

had much attention to that

1:38:37

either, but You never know man. It it is positive because

1:38:39

I don't think it's something they should do. Doesn't mean

1:38:42

it's not something that they could do well. So

1:38:44

let's see what happens. Alright. What's next?

1:38:46

Ben

1:38:46

Rayner says gay gay,

1:38:48

over or under twenty percent Charlie Cox

1:38:50

tonight on She hulk. I say

1:38:52

over. Thanks for the show.

1:38:54

I again, I've mentioned this earlier, I will say under I

1:38:56

feel like since he's confirmed, it's only one episode

1:38:58

he's in. I gotta feel they're gonna save

1:39:00

that one for a little later in the season. So

1:39:02

again, but you you might be, but I'm gonna

1:39:05

guess under. Alright. What's next?

1:39:07

From

1:39:07

Al Renshaw, if the stuff happened

1:39:09

to Monroe and the director's intent

1:39:11

is not bad, I think it's fine. It's

1:39:13

all about a good story to me, but I understand Aaron. Well okay. Can I

1:39:16

just Just let this quick Yeah.

1:39:18

Just say Very very

1:39:19

I wanna reemphasize too. None

1:39:22

of us have seen the movie. Like, we we we don't

1:39:24

know. Like, all the things that I'm saying I'm worried about

1:39:26

may not be an issue. All the things I'm

1:39:29

saying that I'm looking forward forward to maybe

1:39:31

actual bad parts of the film. I mean, we just

1:39:33

don't know, so we just wanted to throw that out there.

1:39:35

We haven't seen it yet.

1:39:36

And as far as what the director's intent was,

1:39:38

well, maybe, but all we've heard the directors say is,

1:39:40

oh, this is gonna be really brutal, and we're gonna

1:39:42

see her get raped a bunch. And he's

1:39:44

saying it as if that's the draw to

1:39:47

the movie. Not I really want people to

1:39:49

emphasize with this beloved woman and see what she

1:39:51

had to endure. That's not what he say

1:39:53

Well, he has he has said that. he has said

1:39:55

that. In the in the in the things

1:39:56

that Ira but what I said

1:39:58

off off off air

1:39:59

was I would like to

1:40:02

see the Marilyn Monroe movie as told

1:40:04

by Gwen Tarrant, you know, where he does

1:40:06

a reimagining of Marilyn Monroe's story and actually breaks into

1:40:10

the executive's home cuts out his kneecaps, slices open his testicles, burns his

1:40:12

house down and watches him die. I

1:40:14

would watch that Marilyn Monroe movie. That absolutely

1:40:17

does

1:40:17

sound like a quent Tarantino movie as well.

1:40:19

I would totally watch that

1:40:21

movie. Alright. What's next?

1:40:23

Andy says if it would have been just as effective if you replace the rocks in EEAA0

1:40:30

Everything everywhere all Everything everything all the way. Thank you. With the rocks. If

1:40:32

you replace the rocks in

1:40:35

with

1:40:35

the rocks, at

1:40:38

the rock? With the rock. You mean yeah. Did you accidentally

1:40:40

put that last s on there? By

1:40:43

the way, the rocks scene

1:40:45

and everything everyone at once. If I

1:40:47

hadn't read that in a script before

1:40:49

seeing the movie, I would

1:40:51

have thought,

1:40:52

who the

1:40:53

hell approved this?

1:40:55

This is stupid. Well, thankfully,

1:40:57

I got to see the vision of history before re transcript because it is one of the best

1:41:00

parts of

1:41:04

the movie Chris, do you disagree, Linda? No.

1:41:06

I

1:41:06

cried so much, and I felt so stupid being like, rocks and hot dog

1:41:09

fingers are

1:41:12

making me so emotional that I don't know what to do with

1:41:14

it. I had a lot of feelings. Yeah. The rock scene, like, again, if I

1:41:16

had read

1:41:16

that in the script, I would nope.

1:41:18

This is not gonna work, but they

1:41:21

knew in their heads what they were

1:41:23

picturing and it's one of the best parts

1:41:25

of the

1:41:26

movie. Alright. What's next? From JimXM says

1:41:28

John I thought on

1:41:30

little mermaid back John, your thoughts on the little mermaid backlash from the fans.

1:41:33

Moronic the van

1:41:35

Imbasilic assholes. Mhmm. I'm

1:41:38

I'm I'm I'm look, I I don't get

1:41:40

it.

1:41:40

What's the backlash? No. What's the

1:41:42

backlash?

1:41:42

The little mermaid's black. Oh,

1:41:45

no. k.

1:41:45

So fucking knuckle dragging basement

1:41:47

dwelling cousin humping fucking losers. Alright?

1:41:52

This is

1:41:53

a mythical creature that's not real. I

1:41:55

never read

1:41:57

anywhere

1:41:59

that that mermaids were only one

1:41:59

Exactly. But here's the thing. I'll believe that

1:42:02

she's fished from the waist down, but I

1:42:04

won't believe

1:42:06

she's not a true ginger. And, you know, yeah, the maybe the way they were trade

1:42:08

before was that

1:42:09

the fish part had a blue hue, but

1:42:11

it's totally fine if they

1:42:14

have a red hue. but the the pigmentation

1:42:16

of their skin. Here's the thing. I was

1:42:18

having a conversation about this with somebody. That

1:42:20

was it. This little mermaid movie

1:42:23

may come completely suck. But if

1:42:25

it does suck, it'll have nothing to do with the

1:42:27

pigmentation of this girl's skin. No. I was having this conversation with somebody if

1:42:29

you can call it that,

1:42:31

which was basically you

1:42:34

know, what?

1:42:34

How does it change the story? How does a per skin pigmentation

1:42:38

tone is

1:42:40

this? or for skin

1:42:42

pigmentation tone is that. How does that affect the story? Well, so this

1:42:44

other person, it doesn't affect

1:42:46

the story. It shouldn't matter. I'm

1:42:50

like, okay, so we agree. The color

1:42:53

of her skin should not matter

1:42:55

because it has no impact on

1:42:57

the telling of the story. Do we

1:42:59

agree? We agree. But then they said, so there's

1:43:01

no reason

1:43:02

why they had to make her black.

1:43:05

And I said,

1:43:08

okay, counterpoint. If we

1:43:09

agree that the pigmentation tone of her

1:43:11

skin doesn't affect the story, then

1:43:13

you don't

1:43:15

need to explain why

1:43:17

she can be black, you need to explain why she shouldn't

1:43:19

be black. because if we're

1:43:23

on an agreement, that

1:43:25

the pigmentation of the skin doesn't affect the

1:43:27

story and it doesn't matter, then that means we should be able to

1:43:29

put any kind

1:43:32

of actor in that role

1:43:34

to play the role. You need to justify saying why it cannot

1:43:36

be somebody who's black. So get the

1:43:38

fuck out of

1:43:39

here. That's my thoughts. on

1:43:43

that. Alright. What's next? Sudhia said

1:43:45

oh, Arshay says Locksmith

1:43:47

send in the super chat.

1:43:49

Thank you so much. and Sudhia sends in a ten

1:43:51

dollar super trap. Have you all seen the trend

1:43:54

of girls and young women reacting to the

1:43:56

little mermaid

1:43:58

trailer? very wholesome. This is why

1:44:00

representation matters. Majority of the backlash

1:44:02

is from grown asshole men is

1:44:05

very perplexing. Yes. Did you

1:44:07

see I always still say halle Berry.

1:44:08

It's halle Berry? Oh, halle Berry.

1:44:10

Oh, halle Berry. Is it halle

1:44:12

Berry? Did you see

1:44:14

her thing watching the reactions?

1:44:17

the reaction videos of little girls -- Mhmm. -- she

1:44:19

started weeping. She started crying. It reminds me of lot a lot of when, you know, you you

1:44:21

guys know I'm not gonna hide. I'm

1:44:23

I'm not a huge proponent

1:44:26

or fan of Gal Gadot's acting

1:44:29

ability,

1:44:29

that's whatever. But seeing

1:44:31

when that first Wonder Woman

1:44:33

movie was coming out. seen little

1:44:36

girls dressed up as wonder woman and

1:44:38

like an

1:44:38

on wonder when they got to

1:44:40

meet Gal Gadot and stuff

1:44:43

like that. I'm like, that's right there,

1:44:45

and I remember seeing one picture of that. I'm saying, that is the magic

1:44:47

that I felt when I

1:44:48

saw Star Wars

1:44:51

for the first time. when

1:44:52

when you see something on on a screen

1:44:54

that makes you feel like you're a part of it -- Mhmm. --

1:44:57

regardless of

1:44:58

what that is, It

1:45:01

opens up your

1:45:02

imagination in ways you can't possibly fathom

1:45:04

and to see the

1:45:06

little girl's reactions to this

1:45:10

It was kind of inspired. Remind me of that one woman

1:45:12

situation. Yeah.

1:45:13

Beautiful compilation. I shared on Instagram today.

1:45:15

I watched it last night and was

1:45:17

just I I cried everything. I cried everything. So I was

1:45:19

just crying

1:45:19

and we were watching up at Christmas Carol. Yeah. There's there's a night when

1:45:21

you're still for that. I have extras. Yeah.

1:45:23

I'm just very emotional. Alright.

1:45:27

What's next? This is from Zenfondetta's

1:45:28

who sends it a twenty

1:45:30

dollars super chat. Oh, wait.

1:45:33

Is this Oh,

1:45:34

this is part two. Or is there another one? might be another one.

1:45:36

Well, let's go with that. Let's

1:45:38

just

1:45:38

go with that and see

1:45:41

what I

1:45:42

see as in. Here you

1:45:44

go. says

1:45:44

blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. When I replied to your

1:45:46

Twitter post with a picture of weird out taking about, I

1:45:48

didn't realize, oh, we were

1:45:50

-- Yeah.

1:45:51

-- we already time about that? Yeah.

1:45:53

We're right at this one. No. I wasn't Three rows ahead of you. No. No. That wasn't me.

1:45:55

I wasn't three if you if your picture is the

1:45:57

one I'm thinking of, I was not three rows ahead

1:45:59

of you. because

1:46:02

the picture I saw was probably in row fifteen or something

1:46:04

like that. I was literally at the stage.

1:46:06

So it the so the person you

1:46:08

thought was me wasn't. I was, like, right up.

1:46:10

If you look, my I complete side profile in your picture. You can totally see me

1:46:12

in that one if you go and zoom in on that. And I'm

1:46:15

glad you had a good time at it,

1:46:18

man. Alright. What's next? Sam

1:46:19

Fisher says another theory I just heard about how

1:46:21

brand is that he is the king of the

1:46:23

army of the dead, the ghost army

1:46:25

who helped Aragon in return

1:46:27

of the king. I

1:46:28

don't think

1:46:29

I buy that. I think I'm far

1:46:31

more I'm far more

1:46:32

in the camp that

1:46:34

he is one of the original

1:46:36

mind the

1:46:38

kings of men that's going to be turned

1:46:40

into a I'm a nice fool. Yeah. I

1:46:42

I'm far more about that. That's okay, but I

1:46:44

I don't think that one lines up as much.

1:46:46

I mean, you never know though. never know. What's next? From

1:46:48

attack of the douchey,

1:46:49

says I'm free of the big

1:46:52

sea, COVID,

1:46:55

not chlamydia. Also, if you don't

1:46:56

have chlamydia, it's not that just

1:46:58

Yes. Still have chlamydia,

1:47:00

but

1:47:03

COVID free. Get out there. Streit. Word structure matters.

1:47:04

Thank you very much. Not

1:47:07

a chlamydia. No. Congrats on

1:47:09

getting over COVID. I mean,

1:47:11

it's even, like, I think I remember you saying

1:47:13

you had been vaccinated, so that was probably gonna make your ride a lot easier through it. But I'm glad you came through

1:47:15

on the other side of it.

1:47:19

Alright. What's next? From

1:47:20

Jason De Bassi, who sends in a ten dollar super

1:47:22

chat, I saw clerks three last week during its road tour and it

1:47:24

was the perfect ending to

1:47:26

the trilogy. It was hilarious, Super

1:47:29

meta and heartfelt. Kevin Smith warned us we'd cry and we all did. Tell you what, I

1:47:31

love hearing all of this because you guys

1:47:33

know how special clerks to is

1:47:36

to me. And

1:47:39

I saw the trailer

1:47:39

for clerk's three, and I didn't like it. I did not

1:47:42

like you guys. Remember, I we talked about, I

1:47:44

did not

1:47:46

like the trailer for clerk's three. I haven't had a chance to watch movie yet, but it makes my heart

1:47:48

happy hearing everybody talking about that it's

1:47:50

really, really good. So I'm excited

1:47:53

to sit down and watch it. Alright. What's next?

1:47:55

from Christopher Mendez says,

1:47:56

can't wait to see Aaron

1:47:58

and Chris watch the descent.

1:47:59

That's gonna be so fun. I think that

1:48:02

is gonna be, like, the most watched video

1:48:04

on our channel when

1:48:06

you guys watch the descent. We actually have to schedule that. We actually have to schedule that. Do we now? Yes. We do. We do. We do.

1:48:08

Chris. It's gonna be so

1:48:10

good. Look at her feet. Alright.

1:48:15

What's next? So Eric

1:48:17

the red o six says,

1:48:19

how does AG one

1:48:22

taste thinking about trying it out. Okay. So

1:48:23

athletic greens were one of the sponsors of our shows and

1:48:25

one of the things that helped keep me alive because I

1:48:28

don't eat nearly enough vegetables.

1:48:30

Ephletta Greens,

1:48:32

everybody I know who takes

1:48:34

it

1:48:34

thinks it tastes

1:48:36

everywhere from pretty good

1:48:39

to okay. you. I am

1:48:40

not the biggest fan of the

1:48:42

taste of it, myself. Everybody else seems to be

1:48:44

fine with it. Everybody

1:48:46

else seems fine with it. I'm

1:48:48

not a big fan of the taste of it,

1:48:50

but I'm a big fan of what it does for me and I'm

1:48:52

a big fan of how it makes me

1:48:54

feel -- Mhmm. -- once I drink it. But

1:48:56

again, don't

1:48:58

listen to me about about how it takes

1:49:00

it. Everybody else, I know who takes it seems to

1:49:02

think it tastes perfectly fine. But for

1:49:05

me, it's it's whatever. But if if it was

1:49:07

just to drink it was just to drink with all that without all the benefits, I don't know that it

1:49:09

would be my number

1:49:12

one beverage. choice. And here's

1:49:13

the good thing. If you just mix it in with your aviation gin, you will take care of

1:49:15

it on to go. great. Aviation gin. Shout

1:49:17

of the day, ladies and

1:49:19

gentlemen. Our letter greens. It's

1:49:23

whatever. It's whatever. Alright.

1:49:26

What's next? From

1:49:28

Sam Chip

1:49:28

Fisher says I really hope

1:49:31

werewolf by night has practical werewolf

1:49:33

transformation scene to rival an American werewolf in London. Yes.

1:49:35

They'll do whatever

1:49:37

looks

1:49:39

best. let's all seen some practical

1:49:42

werewolf transformation stuff in

1:49:45

movies that looks terrible. Mhmm. So it'll

1:49:48

they'll do whatever it looks best. What more people

1:49:50

are concerned about right now is that it's listed

1:49:53

as a comedy. But you weren't here when we talked about

1:49:55

that. Were you? Robin, I've talked about that. Oh, you, Rob,

1:49:57

though, just talk about it. Because I love that

1:49:59

it's this kind

1:49:59

of throwback Boris Karloffee kind

1:50:01

of thing, and I would love that kind of practical, slow. just

1:50:04

added some more makeup transformation. Alright.

1:50:06

I dig that. What's next?

1:50:09

From

1:50:12

Alison Hoffman, So I just learned Matt Smith was in

1:50:14

more bass. Yep. So now every time I watch Damon and how's the dragon, I always giggle

1:50:16

because I think

1:50:19

of that Milo

1:50:20

dancing. That's all. Yeah. That I

1:50:22

have a feeling poor Matt Smith. He can go on to win more awards, maybe

1:50:26

even an Oscar someday.

1:50:29

But

1:50:29

that clip of him dancing in Morpheus

1:50:31

will always follow him -- Yeah. -- like bad stench

1:50:34

of rotten

1:50:36

sausage it will follow him

1:50:38

forever, unfortunately. But that is what it is. But he's still gonna win awards. He's Yeah. He's an incredible actor.

1:50:43

Alright. What's next? From

1:50:45

JimXM, John, a thought on No. We already had that. from fan? Okay. We did that. Oh, whoops.

1:50:48

Just

1:50:48

where they have that

1:50:49

okay we did

1:50:50

jumped. Let's

1:50:53

see. We're at GM. Here we go.

1:50:55

Yeah. Jim won. Ratings for the Emmys were the lowest ever. Is there any way they can win back

1:50:57

viewers, especially as younger generations now

1:50:59

watch less network TV.

1:51:02

Here's the funny thing about that. I

1:51:05

I read that that number, and

1:51:07

I

1:51:07

I remember

1:51:08

that my first thought was this.

1:51:10

I didn't even

1:51:11

know when the Emmys were until

1:51:13

the morning it was happening. I saw

1:51:15

some

1:51:15

stories come out about who are the

1:51:18

front runners going into the Emmys and I'm

1:51:20

like, I didn't even know the Emmys were

1:51:22

tonight. I work in this industry. I didn't even know the Emmys. I I

1:51:23

don't know if that says more about the way they marketed

1:51:25

the Emmys or if it says more

1:51:27

about me, but I

1:51:30

had no idea. And you know what? A lot of people

1:51:32

I talked to were like, oh, wait. Wait. The

1:51:34

Amis were last night. What? Like, people

1:51:36

didn't even know. they they

1:51:38

did not. I don't listen, I'll be honest. I straight up don't think I saw one commercial for the Emmys. I don't

1:51:40

think I honestly think I'm not it's

1:51:42

not hyperbole or anything. I don't think I saw

1:51:47

a single promo for the Emmys. I did not know when they

1:51:49

were happening at at all. And

1:51:51

with the type

1:51:55

of shows, that are out right now, the fact you

1:51:56

had yellow jackets and

1:51:58

stranger things and succession

1:51:59

and and

1:52:02

better console fact, you had all these shows in the running for best show, Ted

1:52:04

Lastdoor in the comedy that you'd think

1:52:06

that there would be a decent

1:52:09

decent amount of people watching it. But I again, I

1:52:11

work in the ministry. I didn't even know they were on that night. I don't

1:52:13

know. Chris, what about what do you think about? I mean, I I

1:52:15

also was like, oh, the

1:52:16

Emmys are on because my neighbor was

1:52:19

like, are you watching? No. because I

1:52:21

also don't have cable. I can't watch it till next day on Hulu because

1:52:23

I'm one of the ones who's not gonna pay for live TV. Dang

1:52:27

it. I'm cheap. but we're in such an embarrassment of

1:52:29

riches when it comes to television. We're in this renaissance of television programming. You'd

1:52:32

think we'd know about this,

1:52:34

especially with all the stuff we talk

1:52:36

about. But, yeah, this flew under the radar. And then the next morning, I

1:52:38

was like, oh, my gosh. Look at all these wonderful winds. Look at all these incredible effects. Yeah. But it was

1:52:41

after the fact. Yeah.

1:52:43

You know, my agent on Instagram. I

1:52:45

talked to my agent that day and he goes, oh, hey, aren't

1:52:47

the Emmys tonight? I was like, you are an agent and

1:52:49

you're my agent, also,

1:52:52

without doing earning.

1:52:54

No. I said to him. I said, watch

1:52:56

the Emmys and everything that wins. Try

1:52:58

to get me on that show. But

1:53:00

even my agent, he he said he he

1:53:03

even acknowledged he goes, isn't it a weird year?

1:53:05

He said, normally, there's so much hype leading up

1:53:07

to the Emmys and even us who are

1:53:09

in the industry. It was sort of just like,

1:53:11

man, Well, we usually also see a lot more advertisements just around LA. Yeah.

1:53:13

It did not have anything.

1:53:15

Alright. What's next? This

1:53:17

comes

1:53:18

to us from Shrevebirth.

1:53:21

is the new Disney one hundred logo opening is

1:53:23

so good. I don't think I've seen it. Have

1:53:25

you guys seen

1:53:28

it? No. will, you know what?

1:53:30

I will keep my eyes open for that

1:53:32

CJ when it comes out, and I'll remember

1:53:34

you said

1:53:34

that. Alright. What's next? Jose Alua says

1:53:36

sends in a ten dollars super chat. Thank you

1:53:38

so much. Thank you. And Cynthia sends in also a ten dollars super chat and says, I can't

1:53:40

tell you how happy I am for

1:53:43

one to be in Loki. After

1:53:46

coming to the US, he was the first Vietnamese

1:53:48

actor I had seen on TV at the

1:53:50

time, Temple of the Doom, Temple of

1:53:52

the Goonies, I have been waiting for his

1:53:54

return. Oh, yeah. I saw that. Did you see Yeah. Yeah. I love

1:53:57

him. I love so much. Well, and we talked on

1:53:59

the show earlier this week about that photo

1:54:01

just being, like, the happiest that Harrison

1:54:03

Ford's ever looked in life. Yeah. Of just Because

1:54:05

he normally does not he he looks about as happy

1:54:07

as succession. Yeah. He's he's he's the Brian Fox of

1:54:10

America. He he kinda said it. But I'm

1:54:12

so happy see

1:54:14

them back. because I love Kwan too. I think he's such a wonderful

1:54:16

actress so good and everything everywhere all at

1:54:18

once. And so having him part of the Loki

1:54:20

season gets me much more excited for that because

1:54:22

that show kinda fell flat for me. for the finale.

1:54:24

Well, there's also something really exciting about seeing someone who

1:54:27

is a beloved character from our past.

1:54:29

All of a sudden, like, reemerge, then there's and there

1:54:31

was never a moment of, like, hey, whatever happened

1:54:34

to, but they just kinda, like, went live

1:54:36

their life. And then all of a sudden, you're,

1:54:38

like, oh my god. totally didn't even realize that you're rare. He was doing tons of

1:54:40

stunt coordination and stuff like this and doing all

1:54:42

this other stuff. And then what I've read

1:54:45

is that when Creece rich Asians

1:54:47

came out, he was like, That

1:54:49

looks fun. I'm bummed, I missed out on that.

1:54:51

I wanna get back in the game. Which I love? Fantastic. I love if that's

1:54:53

a true story. I'm waiting to have that Rick Rick Miranda's moment. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.

1:54:56

What's next? This

1:54:59

comes to us from Sam Fisher who says sleeping with

1:55:01

Cole is going to come back and bite

1:55:03

Ria. Sleeping with Cole is going to

1:55:05

come back and bite Ray Rainera.

1:55:07

I was like, I'm gonna say,

1:55:09

Rihanna. Right. By Rainera Hard. I think it'll be different if she was queen,

1:55:11

but she is

1:55:15

still the princess. I don't really see why sleeping with him

1:55:17

is gonna come back. And I mean, obviously, it's going to because of the nature of

1:55:19

the show, and

1:55:22

it's gonna get all, like, crazy and convoluted. But, I mean, her

1:55:24

dad did arrange for her to have an abortion,

1:55:26

so I feel like it's all just gonna

1:55:29

be wrapped up in a nice little tiny bow

1:55:31

and I'm just gonna be able to move past it, but I think he's gonna catch some feelings and that's where it's

1:55:33

gonna get a little messy. And she got her plan

1:55:35

t, but it

1:55:38

does it does affect, you know, his vow of chastity as a

1:55:40

night, and they're dynamic because they were building a

1:55:42

friendship. So I'm interested to see how that plays

1:55:44

out now. Now that they've slept together is think

1:55:47

are things gonna be weird? mean, well,

1:55:49

but the hitting the event is they

1:55:51

already established from episode one that there was gonna be some sort of romantic thing.

1:55:55

I literally second that he rides up and he's like, you put a wreath around my thing,

1:55:57

which was totally a metaphor? Like, I

1:55:59

mean,

1:55:59

it's So

1:56:03

what Aaron? That's alright. My thoughts and donuts.

1:56:04

What's next? Nancy.

1:56:06

What's next?

1:56:07

From Kenzie Bromley,

1:56:10

it says, Aaron, I

1:56:12

highly recommend love. Merrell love

1:56:14

Marilyn. The documentary uses her diary and notes as well as interviews with her friends. I

1:56:17

will absolutely check

1:56:20

that out. being that

1:56:22

it's a documentary. By the way, there was another great Marilyn

1:56:23

Monroe movie. It wasn't Michelle Williams? Yeah. It was

1:56:25

my my my week my

1:56:27

week with Marilyn. I

1:56:31

was just like, okay. Yeah. I have something. Yeah. But again, it was

1:56:32

from the perspective of some it was,

1:56:34

like, you know, a man's perspective

1:56:38

of, his admiration and his love She got an

1:56:40

I thought she got an Oscar nomination for that.

1:56:43

Mhmm. Yeah. I thought she did too.

1:56:45

Okay. Alright.

1:56:46

What's next? I would love

1:56:47

to see a movie about her behind the

1:56:49

scenes of her and Betty Davis because apparently

1:56:51

Betty Davis hated her

1:56:53

and all about e. Mhmm. Shocker. This comes

1:56:55

to

1:56:55

us from hoax massho mom says

1:56:57

all I have to say is,

1:57:00

Ryan Ryan. Okay.

1:57:02

Yeah. I'm using Kugler. Oh.

1:57:04

Kugler. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Kugler. I'm like,

1:57:06

are we talking about Frank Gosling?

1:57:09

okay, Koopla makes sense. Koopla makes

1:57:11

sense. Yes. I agree. Alright. What's next? From Camilla Muriel says, love

1:57:13

your

1:57:14

show guys since AMC Movie Talk.

1:57:19

Thank you so much, man. Yeah. I mean, it it always

1:57:21

surprises me. First of all, people

1:57:23

have been watching us since collider

1:57:25

and then even before that

1:57:27

at AMC, but when you get into the real

1:57:29

o g's is when they go back to four year consideration. Or even I still have some people come

1:57:32

back in

1:57:32

me with the movie blog

1:57:34

days. I mean, when people I

1:57:37

know that's a real o g when, like, people start throwing movie blog at

1:57:39

me. That's that's pretty fun too. That's when

1:57:43

I met John. Yes. It was.

1:57:45

Yeah. We've got my movie blogs. So how long has John been doing

1:57:47

the show? And I go, well, I said, I

1:57:51

guess he kinda consider, like, way back from the movie blog. And he was like, what's

1:57:53

the movie blog? And I go, oh, child, sit down. Let

1:57:55

me tell you a tale.

1:57:56

The the movie

1:57:59

blog days. Yeah. Alright. What's next? I mean, I

1:58:01

have actually been following John since he was laying asphalt in Canada. That's right. I I

1:58:03

worked road construction when

1:58:06

I was in high school.

1:58:08

as

1:58:08

Right.

1:58:09

But before that, he was breakdancing. And if any

1:58:11

of you out there have video of that, again, we will pay

1:58:14

that. We will pay

1:58:16

big money when we get it

1:58:18

from Jonathan Boyd. You don't find it hard to believe, and I understand why. I used to be

1:58:22

a professional

1:58:24

breakdancer. I don't understand.

1:58:26

III am not No. That does not fit the

1:58:27

image you see before you but I had the bleach blonde

1:58:29

on the sides of my hair with

1:58:32

lightning bolts shaved

1:58:35

into it. Oh my god. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

1:58:37

And that

1:58:38

those videotapes, they're like the

1:58:41

raiders

1:58:41

of the lost arc at the end with

1:58:43

the arc of the covenant. It is safely stored

1:58:45

away in a box at the Campier ranch, up in

1:58:47

Canada, stored safely away, never again

1:58:49

to see the light

1:58:52

of day. but they are there. I

1:58:54

might have to

1:58:54

make a trip over to Saskatchewan next time I'm in Vancouver because,

1:58:57

you know, they're right by each other This comes to us from Sam Fisher

1:58:59

who sends it a ten dollar super chat along with

1:59:02

all those other wonderful super chats. Thanks, Sam.

1:59:04

John, if

1:59:06

Zaz Lab came to you and said, WB1 Warner Brothers wants to make

1:59:08

the next award worthy music biopic. Which

1:59:10

artist do you pick? Is it you

1:59:12

too? I understand this

1:59:14

could fall under

1:59:15

your any turn any role any any role

1:59:18

role. Not really because I listen, I'll be honest with you quite frankly. I don't think the lines of musicians

1:59:21

are all

1:59:24

that interesting. And and they're a lot more interesting than mine.

1:59:26

And here's the thing. The ones that are and they've made biopics out of, they've

1:59:30

all been the same story. It's musical

1:59:32

prodigy who comes

1:59:33

from does not come

1:59:36

from a

1:59:37

place of wealth

1:59:40

or affluence. But

1:59:40

because of their talent, they catch a break and they quickly blow

1:59:42

up into one of the biggest stars in the world. But

1:59:47

then the excesses being one of the biggest

1:59:49

stars in the world. DRUG and other addictions things like that almost leads

1:59:51

to their ruin. If

1:59:55

not for us, something that then happened

1:59:57

that leads to the meeting. I could have just explained to you, rocket man, the

2:00:04

line, those a queen one recently

2:00:06

Bohemian Rhapsody. I mean, that's the thing. Like, the musician stories that do seem to be interesting,

2:00:08

they're the same story. Would

2:00:10

you say that about Rae?

2:00:13

would you say that about array Ray

2:00:15

was a little bit different. That's --

2:00:17

Yeah. -- but that's why Ray one Oscars.

2:00:19

That's not

2:00:20

this Ray. Who's sleeping

2:00:22

right? That was wonderful. Peanuts. But

2:00:25

but but maybe one

2:00:27

of the reasons maybe is the

2:00:29

one reason I would say you too is not because

2:00:31

they're my favorite band of all. time. But

2:00:33

because that is literally a band that has tried

2:00:35

almost my entire

2:00:35

life to literally try to

2:00:38

change the world. They've tried to

2:00:41

feed hungry people and fund age research and do this and do that and work with this and

2:00:43

work I mean, they've literally to use

2:00:48

their entire time to change the world and save

2:00:50

the world and

2:00:50

all that kind of stuff. So I I'd probably be

2:00:53

most interested in

2:00:56

YouTube, Biopic. Alright.

2:00:57

What's next? Bond presents, sends

2:00:58

it a ten dollar super chat and says the whale is adapted

2:01:00

from a play

2:01:03

by the same writer. Samuel d

2:01:05

Hunter. It's one of my favorite plays, and I think we're all going to be blown away

2:01:07

by how good it is. Well, I don't know how blown away

2:01:08

we're going to at least I don't know

2:01:10

how surprised we're gonna be by it because

2:01:14

all the reactions have been sky high. Yeah. Great.

2:01:16

So and if it does get nominated for

2:01:18

screen play, will you're right. It'll be

2:01:21

under the adapted screen play. category. But,

2:01:24

I mean, just hearing all the reactions

2:01:26

and all the responses. I'm getting very,

2:01:28

very excited to see This is

2:01:30

the one with Brenton Fraser for those of

2:01:32

you who don't know what we're talking about. So totally stoked for it. And cute

2:01:34

little redhead from stranger things. From stranger things, Matt. Sadie Sadie Sadie Sadie Sadie

2:01:38

Sadie her name. Sadie Sink? Sadie

2:01:41

Sink. Yes. Yes. Here we go. Love

2:01:43

her. Yep. And she is, of course,

2:01:45

is Max in stranger things. Mhmm.

2:01:47

Alright. What's next? From

2:01:50

Breaking News says clerks three is a ninety minute movie of the making of clerks, but it's funny, charming,

2:01:56

and surprising emotion. That's

2:01:56

everything I'm hearing from people, man. And I'm and you know, I feel back

2:01:58

because I've had access to watch it for, like, a week

2:01:59

and I just haven't

2:02:01

had time to sit

2:02:03

down and do it. but I

2:02:05

am very excited and I love hearing your guys' responses movies, making me really

2:02:07

excited for it. Alright. What's

2:02:11

next? from Deonte Goldstein who sends it a

2:02:13

ten dollars super chat. Thank you. Hey, guys. Been a fan of John since the AMC

2:02:16

Days. I'm also a fan

2:02:18

of everyone else here too. Thanks.

2:02:21

Thank you for all thank you all

2:02:23

for what you do. to I mean,

2:02:25

we

2:02:28

just recently pass the anniversary of of Schnepp's passing, of

2:02:30

course. He was the the best of us. Of course. And

2:02:32

he was

2:02:33

the one who I I've

2:02:35

kind of built my

2:02:37

thing around as well. Like, he was

2:02:39

the one who coined the phrase, fandom is supposed to be collection of people

2:02:42

who celebrate what they

2:02:44

love. That's what Phantom

2:02:46

is. And, you know, I'd said something before about Schnep

2:02:47

these days would be totally disgusted with

2:02:50

the state of what passes

2:02:53

itself as fandom online today that are just various hate communities to get together and say, let's all get together

2:02:55

and rage and hate on these people and these people

2:02:57

and these people. That's not what fandom is supposed

2:03:00

to be. the

2:03:03

world miss I think the world of fan who misses dark,

2:03:05

John Snapp a lot. Not just because

2:03:07

of how great of a person he

2:03:09

was, but also because the influence that

2:03:12

he had. And

2:03:12

yeah, he was I I said this from the day he passed away

2:03:14

till now. He was the best of us. He was absolutely the best of us. Alright. What's

2:03:19

next? From Daniel Vicura

2:03:20

who sends in a ten dollar super

2:03:22

chat says, excuse me, I saw the

2:03:24

fire and love documentary and it's

2:03:26

a and it's good wear is

2:03:29

essentially volcano. And

2:03:30

it's good, where it is essentially volcano

2:03:31

porn. Breaking starring,

2:03:33

Boyega is good, but

2:03:35

he is great. Are

2:03:39

you planning on seeing Barbarian this weekend? I will not

2:03:41

be seeing Barbarian this weekend, not because

2:03:43

I'm not still really wanting

2:03:45

to see it. but

2:03:46

because I have things lined up this weekend that

2:03:48

I cannot. That love that fire and

2:03:50

lever, love and fire one, that one

2:03:52

has fascinated

2:03:53

me since I saw the first trailer for.

2:03:55

I mean, I out, away ending. Like, hey, this

2:03:57

couple dies. We're all researching

2:03:59

a volcano. I

2:04:02

which -- Oh, wow. -- yeah. Yeah. a is a real it's love story.

2:04:04

It's a documentary about these two people met fell

2:04:06

in love, and they both had a passion for Volcano

2:04:08

Research. And you see, all

2:04:10

this wedges them, like, run them edges

2:04:12

of volcanoes or whatever. And apparently, that's how they die.

2:04:14

It is in that. But and I think it's been told

2:04:16

through actual recordings of them and their

2:04:19

I think their kids giving

2:04:23

their children giving stuff about I've I've been

2:04:25

fascinated by this since I saw the trailer for it. Wow.

2:04:27

I know. I see. That sounds incredible.

2:04:29

Alright. What's next? This

2:04:30

is from Tim Platt who sends it at twenty dollars

2:04:32

supercharged. Thank you, Tim. All this talk

2:04:34

about the little mermaid reminds me

2:04:36

of a movie that doesn't get talked about

2:04:38

enough. twenty five years ago, we were given Brandy as Cinderella. Whitney

2:04:41

Houston is a fairy godmother, and it

2:04:43

is the superior Cinderella

2:04:45

film. Hell, yeah, it is Tim. They just played the it

2:04:47

was That was just broadcast on TV the other day.

2:04:50

Oh, really? Yeah. In what? I've never seen it.

2:04:52

And whoopi Goldberg and

2:04:54

Bernadette Peters and Richard Barber.

2:04:57

I've never picture Garbors in? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I've never seen He's prince charming's dad.

2:04:59

He's married to whoopi. I was I thought you're gonna say he's prince charming like,

2:05:04

really? No. It's great. Oh my gosh. Whitney Houston is the

2:05:06

very god. I know a lot of people I know always talk about that, but I think she's the national

2:05:08

treasure. Let's be honest. She's

2:05:10

pretty fantastic. Alright. What's next?

2:05:13

This

2:05:14

comes to us from Irene jobs at Irene.

2:05:16

Hi, Irene. -- who sends in

2:05:17

a ten dollars super chat and says, hey, I

2:05:19

just wanna let you know that I've never watched

2:05:21

single episode of Game of Thrones until this show. I binged it since

2:05:23

House of the Dragon started so I could enjoy all of y'all's

2:05:26

company and things are

2:05:27

being amazing. Oh,

2:05:29

Wow. That was a lot to take

2:05:32

it. That's a lot

2:05:33

of hours. I mean, that is

2:05:35

a lot

2:05:35

of hours. If you were able

2:05:37

to get through the whole thing and that

2:05:39

tip of the hat to you. Mhmm. My friend, that's just like Brad.

2:05:42

Watch our children. Eat the babies.

2:05:44

One of the

2:05:46

really good things about House of the Dragon

2:05:49

is that I don't think you need to have seen Game of Thrones in

2:05:51

order to appreciate it. But like a lot of MCU content, you'll

2:05:55

get more out of it if you had seen

2:05:57

it. Like a lot more of the references will

2:05:59

have more

2:05:59

meaning for you than if

2:06:02

it didn't. And I think that is awesome that you binged the

2:06:04

whole thing. I hope you enjoyed it, Irene.

2:06:06

Thanks for sharing that. Alright. What's next?

2:06:08

From Connie,

2:06:11

hi. but Connie sends in its super chat as does

2:06:13

Frato. You'll be

2:06:14

2:06:16

you, guys. And that will

2:06:18
