Amritakripa and Robbi Robb play music, dance, sing, live, love but apparently don't do interviews, together. That's why this episode is such a special one.

I was originally scheduled to chat with Amritakripa alone. However, as luck would have it, her husband, Robbi Robb, joined for their first official interview together.

What followed was pure conversational delight.

For those unfamiliar with couple, Amritakripa was born in Newcastle, England, Robbi in South Africa. Their paths lead to each other, and eventually Joshua Tree, California.

"Amritakripa has been chanting for twelve years under the guidance and inspiration of Holy Mother, Mata Amritanandamayi. She is enormously grateful to and has enjoyed chanting with such pioneer artists as Bhagavandas, Krishna Das, Wah and David Stringer. ‘Moving prayer’ in the form of sacred dance has been Amrita’s love and practice since 1994. Her desire to combine sacred dance and bhajan opened the door for a wonderful collaboration with Robbi Robb, founder of Tribe After Tribe and lead singer of Three Fish.” - Bhakti Fest

HIGHLIGHTS:

15:00    How musical collaboration began
17:00    The magic and influence of kirtan music
27:20    Touring and promotion
32:00    Marlon Brando and his jar of flies
38:00    Ego. The good, bad and ugly
43:19    Future and past bandit
53:30    New music
1:05:27 Old souls, kitty psychic, and 20-minute “cat-cast” rant

What's cool about the two of them, among other things, is how they balance each other out. Robbi is fire, Amritakripa is water. Together they combine humor, laughter, introspection, passion, detachment, forthrightness, and creative expression in an airtight package.

If you haven't listened or seen them live please do. Let their music lift you from the mundane, the ordinary and everyday. It's a beautiful thing.

Peace. ✌?
