Our conversation focused on gauging and retaining interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Biography: Ariel received his undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania, and went on to received his PhD in Physics from JILA at the University of Colorado in 2007, with research focused on coherent imaging with EUV light. Before joining PhET in 2011, Ariel completed an apprenticeship in scientific instrument making at the JILA Instrument Shop. In his time with PhET he has contributed extensively to the design and overseeing the development of PhET's HTML5 simulations.
