The Kidney DiariesThis podcast focuses on the value of early diagnosis and barriers to communication between healthcare providers (HCPs) and people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in type 2 diabetes (T2D). The target audience for this podcast would be individuals with a keen interest in this disease area, particularly CKD in T2D patients and international HCPs.
This podcast showcases a discussion between a nephrologist, nurse consultant, and a CKD patient with T2D, and outlines their personal experiences related to barriers in communication for early diagnosis of CKD in T2D. There is a key focus on the patient’s experience and identifying the challenges and benefits of HCP communication and the resources available for early disease diagnosis. Additionally, the HCP perspective on barriers to communication and initiatives to optimise patient care are highlighted throughout, in conversation with the patient. We also highlight the unmet need of urine albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) screening and the importance of education within the disease area of CKD in T2D.
Abbreviations: ACR, albumin-to-creatinine ratio; CKD, chronic kidney disease; (e)GFR, (estimated) glomerular filtration rate; GP, general practitioner; HCP, healthcare provider; T2D, type 2 diabetes.
