Director, writer, actor and pioneering inde creator Issa Rae, has continued to make substantial waves as black female creative within the predominately white male dominated sector of entertainment media. Her highly successful web series The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl (which has gained millions of views on YouTube alone), skyrocketed her career as a visual story teller and connected her with creative powerhouses ranging from Pharrell Williams to Shonda Rhimes. Now this Standford film grad is building her own media empire, with her growing Issa Rae Presents Youtube network, the upcoming release of her own original HBO series titled Insecure and the debut launch of her first podcast narrative series Fruit (which is available now of Howl.FM).

Originally created by Issa Rae, Fruit tackles the multifaceted intersections of masculinity, race and sexual identity, within the hyper-masculine field of professional football. With an ensemble cast featuring Roderick Davis, Yutopia Essex and Andrew Allan James, Fruit takes an immersive look at the suffocating challenges some pro athletes endure, within the heteronormative constraints of pro sports. In our latest podcast review, host Chav Damon and INPAQ breakdown season one of this fresh new podcast series (which you can check out below).FRUIT – Season One (Series)
