This week I am delighted to be joined by another very special guest Shelagh Marshall.

Shelagh is a woman of many talents and disciplines, a mother, business owner, chartered accountant and personal insolvency practitioner who very kindly took time out of her busy schedule to talk to me about her personal and professional journey and what is has taught her along the way.

Training as an accountant she initially worked in industry in the UK before setting up her own business and building it into a successful and thriving practice before a life changing event forced her to change direction and countries as she settled back in Ireland and put her career ambitions on the back burner for 10 years.

Picking up from where she left off a few years ago Shelagh has gone on to found another business Firm Advice specialising in helping people to manage and resolve debt and insolvency issues.

For Shelagh helping people in financial difficulty is as much about supporting people in coming to terms with things like loss and failure as well as removing the stigma of looking for help and taking the first steps towards change which as Shelagh puts it herself is all about “helping people to look back in at their situation instead of just being in it”.

This was an inspiring conversation with someone passionate about helping people to understand not just how money works but how their emotions to it work too so that we overcome our fears and insecurities about what for many of us can be a mysterious and intimidating commodity.

This episode of the Live Well Perform Better Podcast brings the curtain down on what has been Season 2.Thank you so much listening so far this year, we really appreciate all the feedback we’ve gotten and we’ll be back in the Autumn with season 3 which will feature more great guests ready to share their stories and insights with us.
