Hey he cover cool with

0:00

notes this weekend episode 43

0:04

Before we get into the episode,

0:04

it is Halloween eve or Mischief

0:09

Night for those that recall. I

0:09

am fired up this evening because

0:13

my kids drive me crazy. And I

0:13

tried to record this intro

0:16

before I released the podcast on

0:16

I think it will be released

0:21

right on or about Halloween

0:21

time. Spooky season is upon us.

0:26

I hate Halloween. I just it's

0:26

not my jam. It's not my holiday.

0:31

I could do without it. Kids love

0:31

it. Kids are annoying the crap

0:34

out of me. Anyways, I talked a

0:34

lot about random shit this week.

0:39

In the episode from not trusting

0:39

people who wear all black

0:43

sneakers to people who wear

0:43

khaki pants if you're they're

0:46

over the age of 18. No longer in

0:46

school. I don't know there's

0:50

just something weird about

0:50

people or other adults that wear

0:55

khaki pants. dress socks. I have

0:55

some thoughts I did not share

1:00

about other items of clothing

1:00

and are like I don't know, dudes

1:05

that wear shorts that are too

1:05

tight or too short. That's

1:07

weird. Pointy toed shoes always

1:07

get me out of the particularly

1:14

of the female persuasion. I

1:14

gotta be honest, I hate the word

1:18

loafer. I think a loafer for

1:18

anybody, man woman or otherwise,

1:23

he shim the is she she them they

1:23

I don't care. If you're wearing

1:29

a loafer get rid of it, get rid

1:29

of it, burn it, throw it away,

1:33

give to a donate it somebody

1:33

really needs to shoot. I can't

1:37

stand the grossed me out to make

1:37

me sick. Anyways. lots to say

1:42

about Harbaugh and Michigan

1:42

football obviously as a

1:49

University of Miami, the real u

1:49

m grad. I am not a fan of

1:54

Michigan. It's also in call with

1:54

our place. I don't understand

1:58

the appeal to each their own,

1:58

not for me. Really never liked

2:03

Harbaugh. There's just something

2:03

about him I talk a lot about

2:06

similar people that I find odd

2:06

in life and in the world. Super

2:10

drivers and Honda Pilot drivers

2:10

I give them a little shed a

2:13

little bit of Tesla driver shit.

2:13

You know again, there's always

2:18

exceptions, but I find more

2:18

often than not, there are

2:20

certain people I do not get

2:20

along with. I think if you're

2:23

listening to this podcast, you

2:23

probably agree for the most part

2:26

unless you're one of the rare

2:26

exceptions to the rule,

2:29

especially a Subaru driver shout

2:29

out to my boy Jeff. Love giving

2:34

him a hard time about the

2:34

Subarus. Anyways, I am getting

2:38

ready to lose my mind on

2:38

Halloween eve with the kids. So

2:43

I'm gonna go and let you enjoy

2:43

this week's episode episode 43

2:49

of the lovable idiot podcast.

2:49

Have a great Halloween and let's

2:55

go now welcome back to another episode

3:12

of the wobbly Podcast. Today is

3:16

episode 43. And I am fired up

3:16

again this week. Last to talk

3:20

about what's going on this past

3:20

weekend. Little bit late as

3:24

usual. This show is on track but

3:24

I am always just a couple of

3:28

days behind. Lots of things

3:28

going on. It's a very busy time

3:32

fourth quarter started the

3:32

holiday season the Halloween is

3:35

this week. My least favorite

3:35

holiday of the year besides

3:39

Easter. So much to talk about so

3:39

many things bothering me this

3:44

week. Maybe you feel bothered by

3:44

some of these things. So I don't

3:48

really have a theme for this

3:48

week's show. Although I think it

3:51

is going to be a little bit

3:51

heavy on the fashion choices of

3:57

the world coming from the guy

3:57

that is six foot eight 325

4:01

pounds wears. Under Armour

4:01

everything with these shorts,

4:07

leggings, compression, this that

4:07

down to the shoes depending on

4:12

the shoe of the day. Yeah,

4:12

fashion is a big part of life.

4:17

And I have very strong opinions

4:17

about it. Always have probably

4:21

started in Miami once I lost all

4:21

the weight after my freshman

4:26

year of college I had very

4:26

advanced very into Miami, still

4:30

in fashion, still, in fact still

4:30

have a fashion line, although I

4:34

am redoing that in the process

4:34

of redoing that now. So yeah,

4:39

there's just a ton of things on

4:39

my mind. I thought we'd discuss

4:42

some of those things. It's not

4:42

necessarily about fashion but it

4:46

is interesting how a lot of

4:46

things I want to talk about this

4:50

week are tied to fashion. Yeah,

4:50

so I don't even know how to hop

4:57

into these transition into these this week's topic. cuz they're all

4:59

over the place. But I just did a

5:05

little research right before

5:05

hopping on to record this

5:07

episode. Obviously, as usual, I'm sweating to death. Fresh off a

5:09

run, I'm a little annoyed, I'll

5:14

be honest. And listen, this has

5:14

nothing to do with my thoughts

5:19

or anybody's thoughts on

5:19

vaccinations and things like

5:22

that. But I did get my flu shot

5:22

and another round of whatever.

5:25

Yesterday, two shots, and I am

5:25

surprisingly sore and

5:29

surprisingly tired now, whatever

5:29

you may think I just, I do these

5:35

things. I never did them before.

5:35

My stroke and diagnosis with Ms.

5:39

Um, you know, to each their own

5:39

I, anybody who wants to do

5:43

whatever it you're about to you

5:43

make the choice, whatever you

5:45

feel best. I just do them

5:45

because I just know I pumped a

5:50

hell of a lot more shit that was

5:50

bad for me into my body years

5:53

ago. To me, there's no downside

5:53

of these things. But I'll be

5:57

honest, I never had a flu shot

5:57

except for one time before my

6:00

stroke and like 2017 I wound up

6:00

getting the flu. I do, I do kind

6:05

of still believe that's a thing.

6:05

Although I've had decent

6:08

success, since I stroke into the

6:08

MS diagnosis, seemingly to keep

6:14

things at bay. So fingers

6:14

crossed, it works out. Or maybe

6:18

I should cross my fingers.

6:18

Anyways, a little sore, a little

6:22

cranky from that wound up not

6:22

recording last week because I

6:27

was busy being a father,

6:27

husband, dad. And I had to say

6:35

goodbye to my truck that I

6:35

bought a few years ago. Because

6:41

I decided that my daughter

6:41

should upgrade her vehicle, she

6:46

drives away more than I do at

6:46

this point. I really just drive

6:50

very locally, I don't do as much

6:50

driving as I used to I feel much

6:54

better. After you know a couple

6:54

of years out for my stroke about

6:57

driving, feel confident. But I

6:57

again, I don't need to drive

7:02

more than a couple miles. Any

7:02

given day, rarely, rarely,

7:06

rarely. Honestly, I drove back

7:06

and forth to the gym. It came

7:10

down to the fact that her car

7:10

was getting a little older. You

7:16

know, so I decided to switch

7:16

cars and let her trade my truck

7:19

in for her new truck that I

7:19

would have rather kept her. I

7:23

would rather she kept the truck

7:23

that was mine and drove that

7:27

till the wheels fell off. But

7:27

there is no reasoning or

7:30

rationalizing with a 21 year old

7:30

female. So there we go. So I was

7:38

buying a new car on Friday,

7:38

which is a painful when you're a

7:44

father, it's just you think you

7:44

finally get it. I have three

7:48

kids 21, nine and seven. And the

7:48

older they get, the more

7:53

expensive they get, which is

7:53

hard to believe. And I've had

7:57

some eye opening moments in the

7:57

last three or four years like

7:59

paying for college is a big pain

7:59

in the ass. It is a hard pill to

8:03

swallow. Getting rid of my

8:03

truck, so I can allow my

8:08

daughter to get her new car and

8:08

truck. She needed no, but she

8:14

definitely needed an upgraded

8:14

car. I kind of pushed for this

8:16

one a little bit, honestly. But

8:16

it's interesting. As you get

8:22

older, as your kids get older,

8:22

you end up spending more money

8:26

in a good way. But it's also

8:26

painful because it's like now

8:29

I'm spending money that I've

8:29

earned or accumulated throughout

8:33

my life. And I get zero in

8:33

return. And that is a very hard

8:37

pill to swallow. I mean, it is

8:37

good, but it is also difficult.

8:44

I'd rather spend it on myself.

8:44

I'd rather spend it on my wife.

8:46

I'd rather spend it just any

8:46

other way then. I mean, I'm

8:50

happy to spend it on her, but I

8:50

would love to spend less. So

8:55

yeah. Anyways, that was fun that

8:55

a busy weekend with the kiddos.

9:00

A lot of running because I

9:00

missed out on some running. The

9:03

lowest mileage in a long time on

9:03

Friday only ran like seven miles

9:08

on Friday. So I of course ran a

9:08

marathon on Saturday ran 20

9:12

something miles yesterday,

9:12

getting back on track and

9:15

getting ready for this week this

9:15

morning. Now I'm recording. But

9:20

yeah, those are some tough

9:20

things going on in my life. I'm

9:23

fired up about them. Again, it's

9:23

a blessing and a curse to be

9:26

able to do these things as a

9:26

father and a parent. And it's

9:31

honestly just a tough, tough

9:31

pill to swallow because I

9:34

guarantee anybody out there who

9:34

has children would easily agree

9:40

with me. I think we'd all rather

9:40

buy ourselves a new vehicle and

9:43

not our child. So speaking of

9:43

weird things, I do want to talk

9:49

about other vehicles because I

9:49

just purchased the vehicle. But

9:54

that is not first topic. The

9:54

first topic is the other US

10:00

Money, which I have never heard

10:00

at University of Michigan called

10:03

you him, but I also never pay

10:03

attention to the University of

10:05

Michigan. And they gotta be

10:05

honest, this whole thing going

10:08

on with Harbaugh, and the

10:08

Michigan sign stealing and the

10:12

scandal that is sort of breaking

10:12

I love good scandal always have

10:17

way all the way back, you know,

10:17

whether it was Clinton in the

10:20

90s or Joey about a few QBO or

10:20

OJ or just all any good scandal

10:27

that is based in some sort of

10:27

reality or weird reality.

10:32

Another favorite of mine is

10:32

Eliot Spitzer. And actually,

10:35

Dupree that's a big one. That's

10:35

actually kind of what spurred

10:40

the thought of this. This

10:40

comment I'm about to make. I

10:45

never trust a guy who wears

10:45

khaki pants over the age of 18.

10:51

Or is wearing khaki pants

10:51

outside of the workweek now

10:55

khaki pants to me I went to

10:55

Catholic high school I went to

10:58

private Middle School, a bunch

10:58

of different schooling a little

11:02

bit of public school. khaki

11:02

pants and all Polo was kind of

11:06

though thing that I was used to

11:06

and I find my distaste for that

11:11

comes from probably wearing it

11:11

for a long time in school.

11:14

It was honestly it was great for

11:14

school because it was like pick

11:18

a color white or blue khakis,

11:18

you know, pick color khaki or

11:23

blue pants. Very simple. Good

11:23

you know, I played a lot of

11:29

golf. So golf again, you know, we wear a lot of khaki pants and

11:30

a golf shirt or polo shirt, same

11:34

thing. But at some point, you

11:34

know, I guess I guess that's

11:40

where my hatred for khakis comes from. But it's weird when you watch sports

11:43

and you watch coaches. They all

11:47

have a different style a

11:47

different sense of dressing.

11:51

You know Bella Bella, check with

11:51

Bella check with the the hoodies

11:54

and the cutoff hoodies. A lot of

11:54

coaches were athletic pants,

11:58

things like that. I know this is

11:58

really weird topic. But the

12:03

getting to a point here and the

12:03

point is I don't really trust

12:07

the guy who wears khaki pants. I

12:07

don't trust the guy in a blue

12:11

blazer. I don't trust the guy in

12:11

a loafer. Honestly, unless

12:15

you're on television, hosting a

12:15

show or you know, you get it in

12:21

the television world. It makes

12:21

sense whether you're on the news

12:25

or a sports show, you know,

12:25

always just a little bit nicer.

12:28

It's just I don't know there's

12:28

something about dress socks and

12:33

khaki pants. I just have a

12:33

strong distrust to people that

12:36

wear those. It's like they're

12:36

trying too hard, and I don't

12:40

believe them. And lo and behold,

12:40

now, to be fair, I believe Kyle

12:45

Shanahan coach of the 40 Niners

12:45

wears a lot of khakis. You know,

12:49

there's a lot of coaches that do

12:49

this, but there's just something

12:52

about Harbaugh. In particular,

12:52

Jim Harbaugh coach of Michigan

12:56

that I just don't trust the guy.

12:56

Very much like you can wear

13:01

dress socks and B, I often

13:01

associate dress socks with

13:05

politicians. I don't know why. I

13:05

don't know why but I don't trust

13:09

them. I don't like them. They're

13:09

gross. I think all the way back

13:12

to Eliot Spitzer because I

13:12

remember that story on Howard

13:14

Stern with actually debris you

13:14

know, and it's always these

13:18

creepy guys throughout history

13:18

that are like involved in some

13:23

sort of scandal some sort of

13:23

activity that you know, isn't

13:27

the best I'm not to eat their

13:27

arm but like it's, you always

13:32

hear like a little bit of weird

13:32

thing like, it's I remember the

13:37

Eliot Spitzer thing,

13:37

specifically because I think So

13:40

Drew Brees said this way back on

13:40

Howard in like 2008 2009 that he

13:45

kept his socks on. It's just, I

13:45

don't know, it's just a weird

13:48

thing. Something I just, I think

13:48

that's why I just have a strong

13:53

mistrust. And honestly, they're weird choices.

13:56

And again, Harbaugh to me has

14:01

always put on this like this attitude, this persona, I

14:04

it's just like, the people that

14:09

try too hard to be good are

14:09

never the people that are good.

14:12

And I think that's true through

14:12

a lot of things. You know, maybe

14:16

it's out of change that things

14:16

are shifting, but

14:20

I don't know. It's just it's a

14:20

fashion choice. It's not a bad

14:25

one. I'm sure there are plenty

14:25

of normal human beings and men

14:28

that wear khakis. Listen,

14:28

there's a time and a place I

14:31

just feel like on the golf

14:31

course as part of like a semi

14:38

business casual work attire. You

14:38

know, anytime you're wearing a

14:40

polo shirt and a pair of khakis,

14:40

that's fine. I feel like if

14:44

you're just if you're casually

14:44

at home and spending time with

14:49

your family, khakis isn't the

14:49

first thing I would think put on

14:53

but if you really liked them,

14:53

more power to you. I'm just not

14:57

a fan and just socks. I just

14:57

have a Weird thing with socks. I

15:00

think I can't stand. I've talked

15:00

about it before on this show.

15:05

You know, it's not a

15:05

generational thing necessarily,

15:08

but I've noticed a lot of

15:08

younger kids were like older

15:10

socks, like remember the 80s and

15:10

90s tube socks with stripes and

15:15

like wild things are kind of

15:15

coming back and I just hate hate

15:20

when people wear socks that are

15:20

visibly dirty and gross. Like

15:23

just throw them out, get a new

15:23

pair, do some bleach like Tara,

15:29

and I definitely know that my

15:29

distrust for her dress socks

15:32

comes from, you know, all those

15:32

weird experiences and those

15:36

weird stories again, like Eliot

15:36

Spitzer. I just don't like

15:40

wearing dress socks period, that

15:40

just kind of gross me. Probably

15:44

a little, probably a little

15:44

autistic in that way. Like I

15:48

don't like the feeling I don't

15:48

like the the look. They're just

15:52

strange. And again, this kind of

15:52

ties into another thing that's

15:57

been bothering me lately,

15:57

because I've seen a trend. If

16:00

you've ever noticed the people

16:00

that wear all black sneakers and

16:03

I'm talking like all black

16:03

Reebok, all black Nike. I love a

16:09

good shoe, that black shoe but

16:09

has a little bit of weight, a

16:12

little bit of color. I'm talking

16:12

about just like these, it's

16:17

always the people that are just

16:17

like they have this attitude

16:22

you're all talking about. You

16:22

see them sometimes it's the gym,

16:25

and it's just like they are

16:25

black socks. Which is nothing

16:28

wrong with that nothing with

16:28

especially like a low cut or you

16:30

know, I played a ton of basketball. I

16:30

wear a lot of black. There's

16:35

just something ultra aggressive

16:35

about an all black shoe.

16:38

Typically, I've never found one

16:38

that I really

16:43

loved that didn't have some even

16:43

like the soul is white. You

16:48

know, something has a little bit

16:48

of something other than black.

16:53

It says it's Anna. I don't know

16:53

how to explain it. I don't

16:56

really know why it bothers me.

16:56

It's it's probably the stupidest

17:00

thing ever, if I'm being honest,

17:00

but it just there's an attitude

17:03

that sometimes I see people with

17:03

all black sneakers that just

17:07

walk around like this like, bro, you're not that hard.

17:10

There's there's two people at my

17:13

gym. I guess this is why I think

17:13

about it because I go to

17:15

the gym almost every day. And

17:15

there's two or three people at

17:20

my gym. And they're male and

17:20

female. And so it doesn't matter

17:24

what what you're who you are.

17:24

I'm judging everybody that wears

17:31

black all black and they walk

17:31

around like there's just a walk

17:36

that they have, but it's like

17:36

they're not cool. They're not

17:40

casual. They're not fun. They're

17:40

just like, just look at are

17:45

generally assholes. Like they

17:45

just walk around like they got a

17:49

stick up their ass. It's

17:49

strange, strange people. I don't

17:53

know how else to explain it.

17:53

It's just, they're walking

17:55

around like this and like, I

17:55

don't know, again, to each their

17:59

own. It's just a weird thing

17:59

I've noticed. You know, that's,

18:04

that's more of the topic this

18:04

week is fashion choices and

18:06

things like that. But it's a

18:06

weird people behind the fashion

18:10

choices more so you know, dress

18:10

socks, again, I find those

18:13

people to be listed there are

18:13

plenty of people that wear all

18:17

these things that are perfectly fine, because there's even an exception to it. Another thing

18:19

I'm going to talk about belly

18:22

with khakis. I'm just thinking about it. I just saw a note. State Farm and Jake from State

18:25

Farm. I remember they always say

18:28

those commercials with khaki

18:28

pants. And like, that's funny to

18:31

me. And that is like, you know,

18:31

a job. That's wear khakis or

18:35

fine. Like you're working in a

18:35

small office doing that kind of

18:37

thing. Like not trying too hard.

18:37

You're just wearing a polo and

18:41

khakis like you're at work.

18:41

Makes total sense, right. I feel

18:46

like they kind of make fun of

18:46

khakis like a casual approach to

18:51

it. Anyways, I don't know all

18:51

that to say. And I'm curious, do

18:58

you agree? Do you find that some

18:58

people just see, it's, I don't

19:01

know if it's just the person in

19:01

general, I had no idea that side

19:04

blows. But generally speaking,

19:04

there is some kind of

19:09

correlation for me, you tween

19:09

what a person is wearing their

19:12

attitude. And then what I wind

19:12

up thinking of that person and

19:16

generally that type of person

19:16

and it seems to be a thing. And

19:22

speaking of cars, because we

19:22

were talking about that earlier.

19:25

And it's funny because I taught

19:25

I talked about this at the

19:28

dealership the other day had a

19:28

great experience, by the way

19:30

with the dealership we went with

19:30

here in Jacksonville. And the

19:36

the salesperson that we were

19:36

working with totally agreed with

19:39

me and I feel vindicated as you

19:39

because a lot of people seem to

19:43

agree with this. There are

19:43

certain cars that certain people

19:46

drive and generally speaking,

19:46

again, not always because I have

19:50

exceptions to both of these

19:50

rules. But two in particular

19:55

that stick out to me are Honda

19:55

Pilot drivers and Subaru drivers

20:00

They're just a certain type of

20:00

person. With a Subaru it's a

20:06

little different. There's,

20:06

they're a little, I'll be

20:09

honest. This I'm generalizing

20:09

you call me whatever you want.

20:14

But a lot of times, it does seem

20:14

to be an earthier person. Here a

20:19

lot of times like, Oh, it's so

20:19

safe. Like, honestly, every car

20:22

is safe if you're not an

20:22

asshole, and you're driving a

20:24

smart car, again, to each their

20:24

own. If you'd like a Subaru,

20:29

more power to you, I mean, I've

20:29

just never felt compelled to

20:32

even test drive one. So I might

20:32

be missing out if I'm being

20:34

totally honest on because just

20:34

from an observational

20:40

standpoint, I just always the

20:40

people that I see and know who

20:43

drives Subarus generally are

20:43

people that I don't enjoy. And I

20:48

try and then that winds up being

20:48

true almost every time. Whether

20:52

I see somebody getting a Subaru

20:52

or get out of a Subaru and walk

20:55

into the store, I then have an

20:55

experience where I run into that

21:00

person or they're rude or it's

21:00

you know, and two exceptions, I

21:04

have to I have former coworker

21:04

that had a Subaru. They were

21:08

great. One of my best friends,

21:08

Jeff has a Subaru. He's easy. I

21:14

love Jeff. He's the man who

21:14

we've been friends for 25 years.

21:17

I still make fun of them for it.

21:17

Because I just never saw him as

21:21

a Subaru guy. But he's the

21:21

exception. So there's always an

21:27

exception. Nothing is down. But

21:27

it is it is interesting. You

21:33

know, same with a Honda Pilot. I

21:33

think a lot of times, my I know

21:38

people have them who I enjoy. I

21:38

find here in my particular area.

21:44

Everybody that drives a Honda

21:44

Pilot just has a particular

21:47

attitude and a particular way of

21:47

being you know, I do run a lot

21:54

in my neighborhood. So I see a

21:54

lot of these cars, a Honda Pilot

21:57

seems to be a very popular

21:57

choice in my community.

22:00

It's a good car, if you don't

22:00

want like a minivan, it's

22:02

there's nothing wrong with that

22:02

if you need that space. Fine.

22:08

But they're also the people that

22:08

like, either aren't paying

22:11

attention or always apparent in a rush like I don't

22:13

know. More often than not,

22:20

they're doing something that is

22:20

bothering me and getting me

22:24

fired up. So I just have a weird

22:24

mistrust of them. Again, there's

22:28

plenty of people that have these

22:28

cars that are lovely people. I

22:32

know a lot of people who have

22:32

them who I actually enjoy. But

22:35

most of the time, there are

22:35

people that I do not enjoy. And

22:39

again, I'd be curious to hear if

22:39

other people think this because

22:41

I think Subaru and Honda Pilot,

22:41

from my small sample of

22:46

unscientific research seems to

22:46

be a thing. And then again,

22:50

Tesla's also is kind of the

22:50

third vehicle. Again, lots of

22:55

great people that drive a Tesla,

22:55

watch drivers who drive a Tesla,

22:58

who I don't think to be driving a Tesla because they can't drive. They couldn't drive a

23:00

golf cart safely. So they

23:03

probably shouldn't drive a

23:03

50 $60,000 car. And yes, it is

23:07

self driving. But you still have

23:07

to be somewhat that adept at

23:15

driving a vehicle because it's

23:15

not that self driving a cannot.

23:19

Yeah. You have to be somewhat

23:19

competent as a driver. You know,

23:24

I wouldn't let my seven year

23:24

olds drive a Tesla. So yeah, you

23:28

have to be able to drive a

23:28

little bit. And sometimes that

23:31

is questionable. Again, my

23:31

experience my area could be very

23:36

serious. I'm sure it's very

23:36

specific because I don't really

23:38

leave the neighborhood and

23:38

immediate five mile radius from

23:41

my house most of the time. If I

23:41

can avoid it. Um Oh, and one

23:46

thing I forgot to back back to

23:46

the clothing all over the place

23:50

today for this episode, but back

23:50

to polo shirts and khakis. And

23:57

can we can we all agree that

23:57

it's just weird? If you're over

24:03

the age of like, 10 Why are we

24:03

buttoning the top button maybe I

24:07

learned this because you know,

24:07

my dad used to dress up early in

24:13

his career and the EDS

24:13

definitely wore suits by the 90s

24:16

he had switched to a more

24:16

business casual attire. I think

24:21

you see that a lot in the city

24:21

in the finance world. It's and I

24:26

don't know maybe because I'm

24:26

used to wearing like if I'm

24:28

wearing a dress shirt, either

24:28

with a tie or without and so if

24:31

you're with a tie you button

24:31

that top button to tie your tie.

24:35

If you're wearing a polo shirt,

24:35

you usually unbutton the top

24:38

button. Same thing if you're not

24:38

wearing a tie with a dress shirt

24:40

usually unbutton the top button.

24:40

It's always weird to me when a

24:43

grown ass adult male or female

24:43

buttons the top button and is

24:48

not wearing a tie. I just think

24:48

that is a very strange look

24:52

again to each their own but I thought that was like and

24:53

maybe it's just the way I grew

24:58

up. Maybe it's where I grew up. It just seems I even see people

25:01

on TV who are grown as adults.

25:05

And it's like, why are you

25:05

buttoning the top button? What

25:08

is with that? That's a weird

25:08

choice. I mean, I'm sure there

25:14

are shirts where it makes sense.

25:14

I have yet to really experience

25:18

that. But I could be sold on the

25:18

fact that you're not wearing a

25:21

tie or some kind of neck thing

25:21

with that dress shirt, but it

25:26

makes sense to button the top

25:26

button. But again, that's the

25:28

probably the exception, not the

25:28

norm. And I'm thinking to Ryan

25:34

Clark from ESPN, because he does

25:34

a lot. A lot Ryan Clark, he's

25:39

He's great. He's great

25:39

commentary. He's a great host

25:43

and guest on all the ESPN shows.

25:43

Awesome, dude, from what I can

25:47

tell. It's just a weird, strange

25:47

look. And maybe it's maybe maybe

25:50

it's a thing that I'm just not

25:50

familiar with. Maybe it's a

25:53

cultural thing. Maybe it's a no,

25:53

I have no idea. It's just an

25:59

interesting choice. Because

25:59

certainly, like, yeah, I don't

26:02

know. I just saw that note, and

26:02

I could not say something about

26:06

it. Um, yeah. Because the crap

26:06

out of me. Um yeah, but you

26:16

know, thinking about the

26:16

drivers, those cars particular I

26:21

love. The thing that always gets

26:21

me about Subarus is people are

26:24

preaching safety. I mean,

26:24

really, I'm sure it's safe bar.

26:28

It reminds me of like bonobos in

26:28

the 80s and 90s. Everybody had a

26:30

Volvo station wagon for a long

26:30

time, because they were the

26:33

safest vehicle at that time. And again,

26:34

generally speaking, I think if

26:39

you're a driver who's reasonably

26:39

competent, you're paying

26:42

attention and you're not doing silly, stupid things. Most vehicles are

26:44

pretty safe. Yeah, always

26:49

exceptions always going to be a

26:49

thing. If you'd like it, you'd

26:55

like it. And that's fine. I just

26:55

wish more people would say, Hey,

26:57

I liked this car. That's why I

26:57

bought it. So don't hide beyond

27:01

the fact that it's like safe. I

27:01

mean, I don't know. I just It's,

27:06

uh, it's strange. But, you know,

27:06

I was just thinking about that,

27:09

because we again, we purchased a

27:09

new vehicle. My daughter was

27:13

talking about the Broncos because they were at the Ford dealership. And he's like, No,

27:15

they don't get good safety

27:19

ratings. Okay. She also wanted a Jeep a

27:21

couple of years ago. And she's

27:27

calling in the middle of my

27:27

recording. Sorry about that. And

27:35

yeah, that was super annoying.

27:35

Sorry about that. Let me turn

27:39

that off. In the middle of this

27:39

episode. Um,

27:44

yeah. So I'm super pumped to be

27:44

a dad revving the shittiest car

27:46

in the house. That's fun. Um,

27:46

what else? What else? What else?

27:51

Yeah, that's honestly, I know.

27:51

We're only like 24 minutes in

27:54

but I am just fired up about

27:54

those kinds of things. I'm

27:59

sorry. It's funk call was super

27:59

annoying. I thought I had my

28:03

phone on. Silent. Mm hmm. I know

28:03

this super interesting. Yeah. So

28:18

this show I mean, I love doing

28:18

this show, I think I think going

28:24

forward Yeah, that's

28:44

so yeah, so So this show in

28:44

particular, I really want to do

28:48

at least three times a month,

28:48

I'd like to get this to weekly.

28:52

This week is not the most

28:52

prepared show, I thought I had

28:54

more notes and things to go

28:54

over. I thought it'd be more

28:57

fired up about khaki pants. You

28:57

know, it will be interesting to

29:03

see what happens with Jim Harbaugh because I feel like he's gotten in trouble a few

29:05

times. He already started the

29:07

year in trouble. And I'm not

29:07

rooting against the guy. Like,

29:11

he's just like, here's my deal

29:11

with this. Like, and I know I

29:17

have a little dislike for

29:17

Michigan because they're the

29:20

other UL apparently. Although

29:20

I'd never confuse the two

29:24

because I'd never understood who

29:24

would want to go to Michigan

29:26

when you go to Miami. It just

29:26

seems like I'd pick Miami every

29:31

time then again. I went there.

29:31

I'm biased. I'm sure University

29:35

Michigan is a beautiful campus.

29:35

But it's fucking cold. Who wants

29:40

to be there? I just don't get

29:40

it. But I was a big fan of the

29:43

Fab Five in the 90s. So I also

29:43

get that they have a good

29:47

football team. They have a good

29:47

basketball program. They have a

29:50

good sports program. It is a

29:50

good state school in the

29:55

Midwest, so I get the appeal for

29:55

some people. Okay, And I'm just

30:02

here's the thing with Michigan

30:02

is that they, and a lot of

30:06

schools do this. And Miami is

30:06

not immune to Miami has always

30:10

been when they're doing

30:10

something wrong, they're doing

30:13

it right in the open, they're

30:13

not even trying to joke about

30:17

it. They're not even trying to

30:17

kid about it. They're they're

30:19

just doing it until somebody

30:19

stops them. At least that's been

30:23

the way it's been in the past.

30:23

And for all the hate they've

30:27

gotten over the years, they've

30:27

been very open and brazen about

30:31

it at times, especially in the

30:31

80s 90s and 2000s. And so I

30:38

guess I've been okay with it. I

30:38

don't like when people hide it.

30:42

And they're not being like, I

30:42

just don't like the goody two

30:46

shoes approach the oh, we're not

30:46

doing this, we're not doing

30:50

that. And then they wind up

30:50

being doing exactly what

30:53

everybody was accusing them of.

30:53

And I think I just saw a report,

30:58

I have no idea, the validity of

30:58

the report, but it looked like,

31:01

you know, our ball was saying

31:01

like, let's just let it play

31:03

out. And it's like, well, why?

31:03

That to me, I mean, I don't

31:07

think there's just some guy on

31:07

the staff, randomly buying

31:11

tickets, all these games going

31:11

out and recruiting and trying to

31:15

steal signs. And, you know, I

31:15

don't remember the minutiae of

31:18

football. But I just feel like,

31:18

if you have a good team, you

31:21

have good players. Sure, you're

31:21

always looking for a competitive

31:25

advantage. And you're looking,

31:25

you know, everybody, even myself

31:28

as a stroke survivor, it's like,

31:28

okay, what are the things that I

31:31

could do to like, maybe get a

31:31

little bit of time back on this

31:34

or that or improve and like, you

31:34

know, there is that thing, but I

31:42

don't know, I think when you're, when you're at that level, and you're being paid a ton of

31:44

money, I think focusing on the

31:47

things that you can control,

31:47

coaching your players doing the

31:52

best goddamn job you can do as a

31:52

coach and a leader. You know,

31:56

again, college is still young

31:56

men playing football. And the

32:00

goal for most a lot is to try

32:00

to, one, get them an education

32:05

to build a solid football

32:05

program that is just always

32:08

good, doesn't always have to be

32:08

the best in my opinion. But

32:12

yeah, you want to have a good

32:12

program, raise money, bring

32:15

money into the school, because

32:15

then as a coach, you get, you

32:18

know, accolades and rewarded for

32:18

that. But you're also building

32:23

good players and young men, and

32:23

sometimes women now that can

32:28

either get a good education at

32:28

the very least. Or they can go

32:32

on to play in the NFL and have a

32:32

successful career. And it's an

32:35

even if they don't play in the

32:35

NFL, you're still building the

32:38

foundation for a good career after college football. It's just the

32:40

you know, but I'm not a college

32:45

coach. I can't speak to it. I

32:45

know it's easier said than done,

32:47

just like everything else in life. Now, it's kind of like being a

32:50

dad. It's it's, it's not without

32:52

its challenges. Yeah. So I don't

32:52

know. I don't know what to think

33:00

that I just think he has had

33:00

some issues throughout his

33:04

career and a lot more than I

33:04

guess, other coaches. You know,

33:10

I've been pretty vocal, at least

33:10

at home about Dabo Sweeney and

33:13

Clemson with my daughter,

33:13

obviously, going there for the

33:16

first two years of school. And,

33:16

you know, everybody has opinions

33:22

about every coach and every

33:22

school. That's just the way it

33:24

is these days. But you know, as

33:24

much as I love Alabama, despite

33:29

my history and ties, family

33:29

connections, Alabama

33:33

and Miami, like you don't

33:33

generally see. There are coaches

33:39

that I don't love for reasons

33:39

that I can't even explain, like,

33:46

like Saban like Dabo, but they

33:46

also generally are staying

33:53

within the parameters of what

33:53

you'd expect and yes, sometimes

33:57

there's a thing here or there

33:57

even Kirby smart at Georgia.

34:01

There's a little bit of this and

34:01

a little bit of that, you know,

34:04

honestly, I can only imagine

34:04

trying to control like 100

34:09

college football players at a

34:09

big time school. You know, you

34:13

do the best you can you have a

34:13

program you have things in

34:16

place. But it just seems like

34:16

Harbach seems to be over and

34:20

over just having issues and it

34:20

is never seemed to just always

34:29

like a very wild, loose shoe

34:29

baits that's untied. I guess

34:35

that's a terrible analogy, but

34:35

even Kirby smart with, you know,

34:40

some of his buyers who have

34:40

gotten in trouble at Georgia,

34:44

it's kind of a one off, you

34:44

know, savings, same like there's

34:48

a bit of a hiccup here or there

34:48

but don't often get swept under

34:52

the rug or brushed under the

34:52

rug, but it's handled much

34:54

better. And I think and when

34:54

they do it, they're just like,

34:58

hey, You know, I did the best I

34:58

can. These young men, I try to

35:03

guide them, I try to help them

35:03

sometimes. Sometimes it is the

35:06

players fault, and they have to

35:06

take that responsibility. Yes,

35:09

it's coach's fault, do that take

35:09

some responsibility. But at the

35:13

end of the day, Nick Saban is

35:13

not watching and sticking with

35:16

every single player 24/7 365.

35:16

That's unrealistic. So sometimes

35:23

it's just a player making a bad

35:23

choice or a bad decision that

35:27

becomes bigger than it used to

35:27

be. But a lot of like, this

35:30

thing going on with Michigan

35:30

right now is just like, this is

35:33

a thing that isn't player

35:33

specific. This is this is this

35:38

is somebody on his staff. And I

35:38

gotta be honest, I don't think

35:41

anybody on his staff is doing

35:41

something without his knowledge

35:44

is just wild. I mean, I don't

35:44

know. I also don't understand. I

35:52

mean, I've seen those signs of

35:52

college football like I don't

35:58

know, I think if you just play

35:58

hard, and you train and you

36:01

watch the film, that you're

36:01

allowed to and supposed to watch

36:05

as coaches and players. And you

36:05

do your job, as opposed as coach

36:11

and a player like, yeah,

36:11

sometimes you'll get caught.

36:13

Sometimes you'll be out of

36:13

position, sometimes things will

36:15

happen. But if you're generally

36:15

doing the right things, you're

36:18

playing hard. You're not

36:18

injured. You know, you should be

36:21

able to It's not rocket science,

36:21

like It's

36:26

Rocket Science is a lot fucking

36:26

harder. Idea. It's just weird to

36:30

me. But I know what happens.

36:32

And I know it's not the only

36:32

program I just think. Where'd

36:37

you grow up? Like, you can't

36:37

figure out how to like if you're

36:39

gonna cheat cheat better. I guess that's That's the moral of the

36:41

story. Stop being an idiot.

36:47

Yeah, it just bothers the hell

36:47

out of me. And I bring it all

36:50

back to khaki pants. Because it

36:50

never trust somebody in khaki

36:53

pants. Or a blue blazer or a

36:53

loafer over the age of like, 18

36:58

with the one exception, but I

36:58

guess I guess technically, if

37:02

it's the exception, because it

37:02

is his job, but I feel like

37:06

khaki pants belong in office

37:06

shop not on the sidelines of a

37:10

college or NFL football game. If

37:10

I'm being honest. And yeah.

37:15

Anyways, I don't know. Those are

37:15

a lot of things I have to talk

37:20

about this week. I know it's not

37:20

the greatest episode, but you

37:23

know, that's just where I'm at

37:23

it. We're kind of going into the

37:26

holiday season things are

37:26

getting weird. This week is

37:29

Halloween. I am trying to avoid

37:29

that like the plague. I really

37:32

don't enjoy Halloween at all

37:32

never have now that I don't eat

37:37

candy, I don't really care about

37:37

it. I'm trying to. I'm not one

37:41

of those parents. But I would

37:41

love for the boys to stop eating

37:44

candy. But yeah, I also I get it

37:44

they they're under 10 they're

37:51

solving fun. I will say though,

37:51

one thing I dislike is the

37:56

school that they attend is they

37:56

don't look more costumes to

37:59

school, which is really weird. I

37:59

don't know. I always kind of

38:05

understood the mask thing. And a

38:05

weapons like that all makes

38:09

sense to me. But like the no

38:09

costume the school like I don't

38:14

know. Are we getting a little

38:14

extreme? Is that big deal. It's

38:18

one day a year like the

38:18

elementary school does not like

38:24

the dressing up as like little

38:24

you know? It starts getting a

38:29

lot probably a little weird in middle school and high school for sure. Definitely College.

38:31

Like I don't know, just that the

38:35

kids dress up who cares? Like

38:35

even even somebody even myself I

38:38

hate. I'm not a big fan of

38:38

Halloween. I don't really care.

38:40

I listen my distaste for

38:40

Halloween. Now I'm Trump. I

38:43

don't want to hang out with other parents. I don't want to walk. I mean, if my kids wanted

38:45

to just go out and trickery,

38:48

like three hours and come home.

38:48

Fine, but I don't want to walk

38:51

with them. Like I got other

38:51

things to do. I mean, I love my

38:54

kids, but they don't need me to

38:54

babysit them. They can ride a

38:56

bike. Stay in the neighborhood.

38:56

I mean, I just thought about

39:02

this weekend when I saw a bunch

39:02

of grown ass adults dressing up

39:05

for Halloween and like sharing

39:05

Halloween pictures. I'm just

39:07

like, why? I don't get it. And

39:07

maybe it was just golden

39:12

grubbing. I mean, I'm sure

39:12

that's the case. But I know.

39:16

There are lots of things I love

39:16

doing with my kids. I love

39:18

hanging out with my kids. In

39:18

fact, it's one of my favorite

39:21

things to do, despite my wife

39:21

thinks. I just don't always like

39:25

want to go to the park in the

39:25

middle of a Sunday. I'd rather

39:27

do something else like anything.

39:27

But my favorite time is hanging

39:33

out with my boys and my daughter

39:33

and my wife just at home. I kind

39:37

of have grown to love that part

39:37

of life and fatherhood. And

39:43

honestly, I'd rather just buy

39:43

them a bunch of candy and sit at

39:45

home and watch some movies

39:45

rather than walking around the

39:48

neighborhood trick or treating. I don't know.

39:49

Again, teats are on I know

39:53

that's a big thing when you're a kid. It's fun when you're a kid I

39:54

remember specifically at some

39:59

point you just Write it. And,

39:59

you know, for me when I grew out

40:02

of it, I grew out of it

40:02

entirely. And now as a parent, I

40:05

don't really want to walk around

40:05

and I don't think I'm, I was

40:08

thinking about that when I was

40:08

running. I was like, you know,

40:12

again, I'm a kid of the 90s so

40:12

like mom and dad that are just

40:15

like, alright, well, you can go trick or treating with your friends and neighborhood or

40:17

their neighborhood and like, it

40:19

just was a different time. I

40:19

guess and they didn't really

40:22

care here just like be home by

40:22

this time. Okay. And I was I

40:27

trickery did I use get shit tons

40:27

of candy, but I never recall my

40:31

mom or dad walking with us.

40:31

Maybe if we went to another

40:35

neighborhood that was

40:35

unfamiliar. But that's really a

40:40

stretch. And I'd have to think

40:40

about that some more. I'm

40:43

obviously I can ask them since

40:43

they're not around anymore, but

40:46

I definitely know my father.

40:46

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever,

40:50

ever, ever in my life. Walked

40:50

around with us on Halloween that

40:55

I'm certain the exception might

40:55

be my mother might have done it

41:00

a handful of times. And again,

41:00

that usually involves her

41:04

driving us somewhere a little

41:04

bit different than our usual

41:08

neighborhoods, kids. Because we

41:08

lived in a neighborhood not

41:12

dissimilar to the one we live in

41:12

now. There's enough places

41:14

giving out candy that you can

41:14

make killing as a kid he can get

41:19

more than that off candy. enough

41:19

candy that you wind up having to

41:22

throw some candy out by the time

41:22

mid November comes around

41:27

because it's just getting gross

41:27

and yucky and disgusting

41:31

discussing and I'm sure we're

41:31

gonna be doing that again this

41:34

year. But yeah, so that's my

41:34

take on Halloween. Things I'm

41:40

watching on Netflix. I really

41:40

been enjoying the Tyson fury.

41:47

I know what you want to call it. I guess it's like a little bit of a his reality show. That's

41:49

pretty good. My youngest son. I

41:53

have been watching that together, which is really weird. Yeah, he likes Tyson fury

41:56

because he's a gay dad. He's

41:58

like you are you're like him.

41:58

And it's like, Yeah, except for

42:02

I'm not Tyson fury, and I'm not

42:02

a world heavyweight champion

42:04

boxer. But I guess there is a

42:04

similar look and size. And so

42:10

yeah, he's been enjoying that.

42:10

He's my little man is an

42:15

interesting 30 He wants to get

42:15

into boxing and a little bit of

42:18

MMA, which is a unique thing for

42:18

a seven year old. We're gonna

42:22

see about that coming up in a

42:22

couple weeks. Talking to my wife

42:26

about it. We're gonna we're

42:26

gonna look into that some more

42:28

because he seems to really be

42:28

into it and I'm not against it.

42:33

I just don't know that he needs

42:33

started seven but we'll see. And

42:37

then. Yeah, I think it's at home with

42:39

the Furies. That's a really good

42:41

show. Oh, what's the other one

42:41

on Netflix that I'm watching?

42:48

Ooh, the animated one. Oh,

42:48

what's it called? The show that

42:56

I really liked with Nick. Nick

42:56

Kroll Show.

43:01

on Netflix animated series. Got

43:01

it. It's killing me. I gotta

43:06

look it up Hang on, hang on.

43:06

Bear with me. This is why I am

43:15

hiring a producer to work with

43:15

me on the other show.

43:20

Because it is oh, big mouth. How

43:20

can I forget? Yeah, it's really

43:28

one of my favorite shows. I just

43:28

forgot the name of it. There's

43:30

no reason despite Yes, Season Seven just released

43:33

recently. I will be mouth is

43:38

that it's just one of those

43:38

shows. That brings me a little

43:42

bit of joy to myself in the

43:42

evenings. It's the stupidest,

43:46

funniest adult cartoon. I love

43:46

an adult cartoon. I always love

43:51

the Simpsons a little family guy. I love big mouth. I know. Bill

43:53

Barr had an animated show for a

43:58

while that I really like oh efforts or something I forget.

44:02

But I like that show as well.

44:06

Anyway, those two shows are

44:06

really good books. So reading

44:10

the Arnold book, really good

44:10

read I talked about on my other

44:12

show. Whatever you may think of

44:12

Arnold, but I think the book is

44:16

a worthwhile read. Again, I'm

44:16

the kind of person that reads

44:20

all books of any kind, I can

44:20

always drive some kind of value

44:23

out of some kind of book. And if

44:23

I don't put it down, I picked

44:25

blue. Which I don't think a lot

44:25

of people do and it took me a

44:29

long time to just, you know, if

44:29

a book isn't resonating with me,

44:32

and I'm just not mood I either

44:32

put it down and pick it back up

44:34

later or I just never wind up

44:34

reading it and that's fine. I

44:39

you know, I try to be a little

44:39

smarter now but the books that I

44:42

buy and if I'm not sure I go to

44:42

the library and either take it

44:47

out or rent it on whatever. Um,

44:47

but yeah, there's some good

44:52

books and usual podcasts that

44:52

I'm enjoying still. All the y m

44:57

h, your mom's house podcast.

44:57

spurts cast, but he had a new

45:02

one. Last week that was really

45:02

interesting. With the guy whose

45:08

net worth the DNA code, just

45:08

interesting, interesting stuff.

45:13

working on some new things,

45:13

getting ready to start working

45:15

with producer for lovable

45:15

survivor podcast next week,

45:19

which I'm excited about. So

45:19

we've got a lot of things on my

45:22

plate that I need to get done

45:22

this week after Halloween this

45:26

week, and yeah, so I'll be back

45:26

next week with episode 44 of

45:32

Omonia podcast but this has been

45:32

a pretty good episode, Episode

45:37

43 A lot of weird fashion

45:37

choices and the mistrust around

45:40

certain things and certain

45:40

certain weird things that I find

45:43

strange again, I'd love to hear

45:43

if you think about if you have

45:46

any topics Yes, you want to be a

45:46

guest on the podcast you can

45:48

email me directly will it be

45:48

that Tom love to hear from me

45:53

love to hit me up on social

45:53

think lovable out on X, Twitter,

45:57

Instagram, Tik Tok, you can also

45:57

find me on LinkedIn, if that is

46:02

your preferred network, I'd love

46:02

to get in touch with people.

46:06

Like I said, I'm working out

46:06

with a producer for the other

46:09

show really gonna start having

46:09

guests. Getting that under

46:12

wraps. And I think it's time to

46:12

start having guests over here on

46:15

this show, because a lot of

46:15

interesting people doing a lot

46:17

of interesting things in life.

46:17

And yeah, just want to evolve

46:21

both the shows and really going

46:21

into 2024 with a new focus and a

46:27

new or a little bit of a new

46:27

direction, both shows and just

46:30

more consistency. Again, sorry

46:30

about being late this week. That

46:34

is you know, this show is sort

46:34

of the secondary show at this

46:36

point at the moment. And so I'm

46:36

trying to be consistent but it's

46:41

not a perfect world. I just try

46:41

my best and yeah, curious to

46:46

hear your thoughts and My
